WRT54G upload faster than download... for the love of jeff help!!!

This has been baffling me.. Ill try and keep it as short as possible.
3 devices on network
1 desktop (wired)
1 laptop (wireless)
1 xbox 360 (wired)
All of a sudden the desktop has shockingly slow download speeds.
Laptop uploads and downloads great
xbox 360 still playing GTA4 online great.
so i spent nearly 2 days straight trying to figure out a software issue, coudlnt do it.. formatted the main desktop machine.
First few hours I was finished with the format, downloaded great, i downloaded things like AVG, spywaredoctor(google supported), some video codec packages and VLC media player, windows media player 11. But thats it.
Prior to all this I had checked everything I could think of, it pings well, URL and Ip I can still surf barely but it does surf. I removed any BHO with hijack this prior to format reinstalled NIC drivers - reset router with didnt make much sense since other machiens were working great.
Now my upload speed is great on desktop machine, but my download speed is half that speed.

If we could look past the fact that some people don't like the speed tests sites as accurate. Its obvious that something is wrong.

All APPLICATIONS CRASH WHEN AN ALERT BOX POPS UP! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP!

When any alert box pops up (e.g. Reseting Safari, Changing an extention in Finder) The application that sent the alert crashes within a few seconds. I do not know how this happened, but it is very annoying and harmful to what i am working on. I think this started a few days ago, and the only thing that i think might of caused it is Google earth, which i just installed. I tried disk utility (on and off the CD), to no avail. This is not restricted to any particular program, and crashes everthing. Please, For the Love Of God Help!!!!!!

Try this: go to the System Preferences and look at the "Speech" preference pane. Make sure everything is turned off in the "Spoken User Interface" tab. Especially the "Speak the Alert Text".
If that's not it, open up your Console application from the Utilities folder. Click on the "Logs" icon at the top left until you see a listing of folders on the left side. Click the triangle next to ~/Library/Logs to reveal some sub-folders. One should be called "CrashReporter". Open it and click on one of the crash logs. Each one should have a section like this:

Very slow network performance - with uploads faster than downloads

I just got new ISP - 100 mbps through a Cat5 line. It checks out when I run ethernet directly to a computer. However, I want a totally wireless network.
I have a Time Capsule attached by ethernet and that is my main network device. I also have two airport Xpress' to extend the network.
I am getting, on average, 16 mbps! And, upload speed is generally higher.
The Time Capsule is about 2 yrs old, but it is an "n" device.
Anybody have any idea what the problem might be? I was considering getting a new extreme and using the Time Capsule as an extender instead of the expresses because, as I understand it, the express has one band only. Would that be better? Mainly, I want to get the speed up to what it should be.
Is there some way to trouble shoot the Time Capsule?
Others in my building with D Link or Linksys routers are getting over 80 mbps wirelessly, so I know it is possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to stay with Apple products, but if not possible I will get another brand of router.

I reset the Time Capsule a couple of times. I noticed that both devices are automatically set to channel 157.
That's a 5 GHz channel. That band can give faster throughput, but the signal strength falls off faster than in the 2.4 GHz band.
The Extreme has 2 channels - 2 and 157. I do not have the option of changing the channel on either of the other devices.
That makes sense, if they're configured to extend an existing network. They must communicate on the same channel as the base station they're extending.

Alright, I've been playing around with Shake for months now. I've done the tutorials, read the books, etc.
But every single time I import my own clips, Shake distorts them. The quality is ALWAYS much lower than the original clip. I'm talking pixellated, interlaced, distorted crap. I know all about the proxy stuff, it is set at BASE. The resolution is correct. Clips are imported at BASE. How in the world do you get Shake to stop messing with the quality?
I have a friend who's an editor. He agrees: Shake ruins the picture quality when he brings files in. The both us can't get our heads around it.
If somebody could tell me how to get Shake to just leave the quality alone then I could use, but right now it's destroying my HD footage.

I might have a path for you. A while back I was given a set of clips to work on. They were taken from a prosumer HD camera (HDV). For reasons I didn't ever resolve, the images read into shake (via shake's QT file import) as low res (sub SD) image even though the QT player would display them at HD resolution) and were that way even for fileout (I tested)
I didn't really have time to figure what had been done to the qt file to get it to do that (shake normally has no problem with virtually any QT files, though they are not optimal speed and efficiency wise) so I just exported them from the QT pro player as an image sequence (iff) and the images were perfect.
I am sure I could have figured out what was wrong with the mov container (or possibly just extracted the video component and created a new mov container for it, or even exported them to some other format (as I recall the video codec was AIC or HDV) but the iff sequence was; simple, lossless, worked perfectly (and iff is more efficient in shake.)

I got a laptop for xmas, got all my songs on itunes, the newest one verzion 9 id guess. If i skip a song it will stay at the same point in the song when i go back to it, it has to be the MOST ANNOYING THING IN THE HISTORY OF TIME. Does anyone know how to fix this?????

I have now spoken to Apple about my problem and they told me to explain the situation to my Broadband service provider British Telecom (BT).
For reasons not explained, BT suggested the problem lies with the Router hardware they have supplied (BT Business Hub - 2701HGV). Although it is relatively new there is something that prevents it from downloading Mountain Lion???
They are posting me a new one which will not arrive for 2 days. I will let you know if the new router solves this issue.

When I tried to download and install Lion using the App Store, I found that it would just HANG when I entered my Apple ID, and would never start the download. It was never getting past the login. I searched the forums and found other people with the same problem but no solutions.
In troubleshooting it myself, I stumbled across something that worked for me. I wanted to just make sure I had the right password and that my Apple ID was still working, not disabled, so I logged in with my apple ID on iTunes. It worked so I then went to the App Store and logged in again.
Once I did that, the download started and finished the way I expected. Over verizon FIOS, the download took me about 40 minutes, and then the install took 30 minutes after that.
So, if it is hanging and never really starting the download, try logging in to iTunes first, then the app store. It might work for you too.

Lets get down to business on this problem that my town is facing. One, the Verizon corporate store in Escanaba, Mi is closing? For the love of god why are you guys doing this? I have had a great experience in dealing with Verizon over the years from helping me with my phone problems to just being very helpful when I need a new product upgrade. The other affiliate store in my area (That will remain nameless) that are not knowledgeable as those folks at the corporate store. One time I went to an affiliate store to edge up and that was a complete nightmare and a half. I asked for a phone (HTC One M8 Windows) that I wanted and what did these guys do? They sold me the same exact model but it was the Androd version! The saleswoman (Which was the store manager) told me you can make this into a windows version (Which is a big NO-NO because that would void my warranty for Jail-breaking!) and messed up my contract to the point i couldn't (also breaking contract) edge up for 30 days! After fixing this at the Escanaba corporate store to the actual phone after that mess up when I didn't want the Android Phone! So, if you want to keep your loyal customers like myself that is a military veteran that owns and manage a Computer Company Also my other relatives that own trucking companies and insurance agencies. I would suggest that you please reconsider this disastrous move of closing the best Wireless Store in my area.

CRS Install hostname being used by more than once for the same node.

Hi, we're installing The Oracle Clusterware and on the Cluster Configuration screen of the universal Installer (the one were you specify the clustername and clusternodes) we get the following error message in a dialog box when the next button is clicked:
"You must enter unique values for the public node name, the private node name and the virtual hostname for all nodes in the cluster. The name, node1, that you entered is being used by more than once for the same node."
Has anyone experienced this error message before and know what the cause is?
Could it be a problem with the /etc/hosts file?

Make sure you allocate separate IP addresses on your network for the VIP addresses on each RAC node (this is not the same as the machine IP already configured on the OS).
Also, the installer may complain if your private and public IPs are configured under the same subnet.
Finally, as mentioned before, check that name resolution for all the IPs to be used. On all RAC nodes, your /etc/hosts file should be configured with:
- public name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
- private name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
- VIP name and IP addresses of ALL nodes

Why won't ios 3.1.1 download for the 1st generation ipod touch? It will start and then a second later stop.

Does it happen with the apps that came with the iPod?
Does it happen with all apps you have downloaded/installed?
Have you ried deleting the apps and redownload/install the apps? You will not be charged again if you are signed into the same iTunes account that originally purchased the apps.
Next would be to restore from backup
Last would be to restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

Is there a download for the CS6 updates? I can only find individual app updates.
