I have a computer running Windows XP and the laptop that uses the wireless is a Mac OS 10.4 andd it seems that the router isn't recieving a updated Ip or drops it and needs to be restarted every 10 minutes or so.

We've been having an intermittent issue where clients seem to drop their connectivity intermittently. We have an SSID configured with 802.1x and user-machine authentication using MS-PEAP. ISE is currently used as the radius server,
Synopsis:
When the client drops out, it is associated to the AP at good signal strength -64dBm. All our clients are running Win7. Once the issue occurs a yellow exclamation mark appear across the system tray wireless icon and a message appears in the "Network and Sharing Center" that either says “no internet connection” AP status on the controller is associated The client can ping its default gateway, but no connectivity above layer 3 appear to be working. This behavior is extremely intermittent. The only way to restore full connectivity to the client is to hard reset the wireless adapter or switch to another SSID and go back to the problematic SSID.
Today , I've worked with the same Cisco TAC engineer for almost three hours trying to diagnose and analyze this issue. We've tried to diagnose several clients that were having this issue by running debugs on the controllers. The wireless controllers were showing the clients were still associated, yet the clients couldn't communicate with network. I ran a link-test from the controller to the affected clients and all came back with failed status.
Any idea

a link test could fail depending on the adapter and CCX. If the client can ping it's default gateway, then the issue is probably, more than likely, not the wireless. Pinging the GW proves the client is passing traffic out of the WLC and upstream. If they are not able to reach any resources you might want to look and check your CAM and arp table entries, it is entirely possible that a MAC is being spoofed, or an IP address is being stolen somewhere.

How do I keep my Ipad from dropping its wireless connection?
Most of the time, my iPad does not maintain a connection to the interenet via my wifi router. My PC laptop has continuous connection, so I know it is not the internet connection.
Is there a way to trouble shoot this? Can I purchase a dedicated IP Address for my Ipad? This is beyond aggrevating since internet activity is the main reason I purchased the pad.

I would suggest that you give Apple Tech Support a call and go over your settings under WI-FI and General Settings as well as your router settings etc.. There are all sorts of things I could tell you to try but this forum is not the best place to go over all the numerous settings that could be the issue. Just call them and they will walk you through the proper trouble shooting steps.

Wireless kernel module seems to "drop out"

Hi,
I recently installed arch with gnome and networkmanager. Everything is ok execpt that my wireless card seems to stop functioning at random times for 2 seconds and then work again, the module seems to "drop out of the kernel" and come back online again. I have intel pro wireless 3945ABG and insalled the iwl3945 module. Anybody know what's the problem.

How do you downgrade? I suspect this is my issue as well. Also once I do downgrade, how do I prevent pacman from auto-maticly upgrading it again?

I am having a really wierd issue as well that is probally related. I dont see 95% of the album artwork associated with my music. Also, it seems as if this has gotten worse since I started using that match feature

IPhone 6 Plus battery life seems to drop non-linearly

I'm not sure it's a problem yet or not, but I've been watching the battery life over this first day of use, and it is very non linear, even though use has been pretty linear.
For example, after the battery indicator dropped to 90% usage I calculated out how much the battery life would be at that rate and got like 19 hours!
But at 80% usage it dropped to 13 hours.
And so on... subsequent calculations have it multiplying out to 12.5 hrs, 12.3 hrs, 11.2 hours , 9.3 hours and now at 55% battery it multiplies out to 9.2 hrs.
I wonder why the more time passes the remaining percentage seems to drop at an accelerated, rather than a linear rate. Anybody have any ideas?

The rate of battery loss is still slowly accelerating. At this rate I expect less than 8 hours usage time.

Dropping frames in QT export from CS3

I just got CS3 for my PC and I was all excited about the new
feature that lets you export dynamic/actionscripted/MovieClip
content. I do animation targetted at TV, so everything needs to be
rendered to AVI or Quicktime, so I figured that this new feature
would let me use a dynamic camera symbol as I've always wanted to.
I've run into a problem, though: the export process seems to
drop frames! As far as I can tell, Flash is rendering and recording
the frames of the animation in real time (or perhaps just close to
real time). If the computer has any hiccups because of another
process demanding some processor time then the resulting quicktime
will have frozen bits where the renderer couldn't keep up.
You can see what I'm talking about by looking at the
quicktime and an AVI of the same scene here:

To test this theory, I tried witching applications a bunch
during a render. Sure enough, there were long sections in the
resulting quicktime where the renderer missed frames. The quicktime
is the right length and number of frames -- it just repeated the
same frame over and over where it couldn't keep up.
That's not the only problem, though. When I look at the
exported quicktime file in either Quicktime Player or Premiere pro
(version 1.5) it reports a framerate significantly lower than in
the original FLA. In the file I'm looking at right now, the FLA's
framerate is listed as 29.97 but the MOV file reports a rate of
19.29 (which is, incidentally, different than the framerate I got
any other time I exported the same scene). In premiere, when I tell
it to interpret the footage as having 29.97 fps the clip gets
significantly shorter than it should be -- in this case 161 frames
rather than the 208 frames that it is in the FLA.
I'm pretty sure this is the same way that the various
SWF-to-video programs do things. I thought it was an interesting
kludge to use those external programs but I was sure Adobe would be
able to do something more elegant and sure-footed with this new
export feature. Couldn't they have somehow guaranteed that each
frame would get captured? It seems like they could have just
modified the Flash player to play with artificial time, where the
time to render each frame was always reported as 1/framerate.
Oh, and there's one more problem. The Quicktime renderer
seems to do something different about the order of execution of
actionscript or something. In the rendered quicktime movie the
first frame displays my camera symbol even though I explicitly made
it invisible with actionscript on the first frame of its timeline.
When displaying in the Flash player the first frame does _not_
display the camera symbol....
Has anyone else encountered these problems? If so, have you
figured out a workaround? I tried setting the framerate really low
(I was at 29.97, so I set it down to 10) but it still seemed to
miss frames.

I can understand your frustration with this feature as it
tries to capture in real time what's being
compiled in the player - but your last line is a bit unfair:

Copy Motion and Copy Motion as AS3 are useful new additions
for animators. I will add however that I
myself have a list of animation oriented features I would
love to see added in flash but for now
have you checked out www.flashants.com and their SWF2Video
tool? It exports an SWF to AVI with
flawless results. Worth looking into if you have the need to
output any kind of flash content to video.

I dropped a MBP and dented that same corner, though it wasn't one of the unibody MBPs:
It worked flawlessly for a month, then suddenly died. I put it to sleep one day, then 5 minutes later remembered something I had forgotten to do, opened it back up... and nothing. It never worked again. Repairs would have been well over $1,000, and would not have been covered by the warranty or by AppleCare (if I had bought it). I opted to just buy a new Mac instead.
Now, just because that happened to me does not mean that's what will happen to you. However, you do need to prepare yourself for that possibility.

I'm using Windows 8 (not 8.1) and whatever the latest Thunderbird version is. They're both IMAP accounts. I was using Windows Live, but I couldn't get that to work, so I switched to TB. It works JUST fine for the one account, but not the other! They're identical except for the "handle". Both off my local ISP, set them up at the same time.

I can no longer organize my drop down book mark list ,from the toolbar in alphabetical order like I used to Why ?

Used to, I could organize my drop down book mark list from the tool bar, in alphabetical order from A-Z by clicking on view, sort by, select . Now every time I add a new bookmark it goes to the bottom of my bookmark list in Unsorted bookmarks . I can go to the bookmarks and sort the menu in Alpha. order. However, when I go back and drop down the bookmark list from the tool bar, the new bookmarks are still in the Unsorted list at the bottom. The bookmark's menu may or not have them in assorted list. This occurred several updates back. Why can I no longer sort the drop down book marks list in A-Z alph. order? This is a major obstacle when trying to search for a particular bookmark that I have made in the not too distant past.

That did solve my problem. Madperson Thank You Very Much!!!!! I'm not real literate on the mechanics of working computers even though I use them all the time. Basically I'm a point & click kinda guy and beyond that I'm pure novice! This is going to save me a lot of wasted time.

Dear all
Simple question I do wanna ask.
Just need to get out a list with my materials with its purchase order texts from the material master.
As I do know that PO text is not stored on a table, it might be difficult to get it out from the system.
Does anyone of you know how to retrieve it simply?

Hi,
The quickest way to do this (tested with OS 10.8.2, MS Word 2011) is in one line:
tell application "Microsoft Word" to close every document whose name begins with "book"
The reason why your script doesn't work is that you aren't specifying to Word which document you want it to close.
So, changing one line ought to do it:
close document incrementvalue -- instead of "close document"
But... when you close a document, you change the document count. Document 2 becomes document 1, document 3 becomes document 2 etc. So eventually you'd get a message saying "The object you are trying to access doesn't exist".
Because of this, if you want to do it in a repeat loop, you have to work backwards:
tell application "Microsoft Word"
set doc_count to count documents
repeat with x from doc_count to 1 by -1
if name of document x begins with "book" then close document x
end repeat
end tell
