Wrt54g v1.1 firmware fail

I just went and upgraded the firmware on my wrt54gv 1.1 router and the router now goes and gives me a weird IP address, the 192.168.1.1 site is incorrect, the power light flashes, and I have reset it in every way I can think of. I downloaded the upgrade from www.linksis.com, followed all of the instructions there as well, and I can't help but think that I probably killed it.
Any help or advice as to how I can get the router running again would be greatly appreciated,
Dnulho

i found out how to get it to go back: press reset for 30 sec, unplug and continue holding reset for 30sec, plug back in and continue holding reset for 30 sec. refresh 192.168.1.1 and it worked.
sorry to bother you,

  • WRT54G v3 "upgrade are failed"

I am running the WRT54G router, version 3, and trying to upgrade the firmware. It's been locking up and losing my wan connection on a somewhat regular basis and I thought the upgrade would help.
When I try to upgrade to the latest firmware I get "Upgrade are failed" while the progress bar is at about 20%.
    Basics:
    WRT54G v3
have upgraded firmware since purchase - currently running 4.20.6
trying to upgrade to WRT54G version 3 firmware version 4.30.5
    PC running windows XP
I am connecting via wired, not wireless.
    Attempts:
    1) Logged into router through web interface and went through Administration-->Firmware Upgrade
    Result: Failed
    2) Downloaded firmware again (in case it was corrupted) and tried through web interface
    Result: Failed
    3) Hard reset of router - held down power 30-40 secs - then tried update through web interface
    Result: Failed
    4) Downloaded tftp program and used it
    Result: Failed
Can anyone give any other suggestions or tell me if they've successfully upgraded to this version of firmware?
    Thanks!!

    Try this:
    1. Disconnect all the devices from the router. Only the computer used for the upgrade should be the only device wired to the router. Even the modem shouldn't be connected.
    2. Reset the router for 30 seconds. The IP address of the router will be back to 192.168.1.1 after the reset.
    3. Disable all firewall and security software on the computer.
    4. Set a static IP on the computer. Use:
      • IP: 192.168.1.5
      • Subnet: 255.255.255.0
      • Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    5. Force your network adapters speed to 10 Mbps Half.
    6. Make sure you could still ping the router's IP address (192.168.1.1).
    7. Upgrade the firmware thru the web user interface (Administration tab. Firmware Upgrade tab.).
    8. If it fails, use the TFTP utility.
    9. Reset the router for 30 seconds after a successful upgrade.

  • Is my router failing? - WRT54G wireless-G firmware v.8

It's gotten to the point where on average I have to power cycle the router at least once a day to regain the connection for both wired and wireless computers in our home network.
    My questions are these:
    1. Is there a way to diagnose the problem properly?
    2. If the router is indeed failing, can anyone recomend a new one as this is the second router of the same type in two years to begin failing on us and to be frank im getting tired throwing 80 USD away every two years.

Your router needs to be Upgraded...Download the firmware from here
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...
Then, unplug the power cable while holding down the reset button for another 30 Seconds...
Plug the power cable back in, and keep holding down the reset button for another 30 Seconds...
Release the reset button...Now re-configure your router...

  • Tried to update WRT54G wireless router, upgrade failed, router broken.

I tried to upgrade my new WRT54G wireless router with the new firmware. I got an error message that said "Upgrade are failed". I used the correct version of the firmware for my router (I have a Ver 8). I tried to factory reset, but the router is still broken. Any suggestions on what I could do? The entire page I access via IP is broken. All the text is messed up the the links don't work. I can use the router to access my network, but it will not connect to the Internet at all.

I have no firewalls, and it's for sure not a computer related problem. I have tried on three seperate computers. The upgrade failed, it won't let me access the setup page. I have tried to go onto the Internet since, and it lets me, but 80 percent of all Internet sites don't work. This is what shows up in the router firmware page when I go thru the IP. ýýý†††···ÇÇǶ¶¶¼¼¼öööiiiSSS¿¿¿ÂÂÂßßßààà´´´¯¯¯***^^^uuuAAAllØhhÐééé²²²äää–––ÃÃÃBBBâââmmm¾¾¾DDDWWW˜˜˜“““ìììÎÎÎ LLLaaajjÓyyy ¸¸¸ÝÝÝøøøÉÉÉãããÞÞÞ:::×××ÓÓÓkkk’’’nnn™™™³³³©©©ççç œœœxxx~~~ÁÁÁffÍ```ggÍ CCCiiБ‘‘ ŠŠŠ@@@žžž YYYµµµÐÐЪªª¥¥¥??9èèè___ÆÆƉ‰‰ÜÜÜšššÒÒÒ¨¨¨¡¡¡vvváááØØØÙÙÙƒƒƒTTT$$$ÍÍÍŒŒŒÚÚÚÔÔÔ••• ËËËÅÅÅëë뺺º‚‚‚°°°|||}}}jjÕVVV„„„\\\]]]rrrbbÅ??;ŸŸŸ[[¶»»»[[[%%IGGG???eeË£££íí퇇‡fffooÝOO __¾kkÕGGŽ``Á88oddÇKK•CC†hhÏîîî±±±>>|SS¦77mÛÛÛæææpppÖÖÖ®®®ÈÈÈHH êêê??)ÌÌÌÊÊÊÄÄÄ????:llÙZZ²ŽŽŽWW®99q;;vAA‚ÿÿÿffÌ Message The rest of the pages in the setup menu ether show up blank, or give the same message as above.

  • Lynksis wrt54g V5.1 firmware

Hello, i have tried to download upgrade(v Ver.4.20.8) for my wrt54g router it always says failed. Checked again if i downloaded correct software and always says same thing. i currently have Ver.1.00.6 and would be nice to get it updated. can anyone help me?

Just to make it clear, hardware version is different from the firmware itself. Selecting a hardware version not for your router will brick and render it unusable. I noticed that you have a firmware version 1.00.6. Your hardware version must be 5.0 or 6.0. So you need to make sure of this one before attempting to upgrade.
Going back, I downloaded the firmware without a problem. May you need to try downloading it using a different browser like google chrome, etc.
I've uploaded the firmware to rapidshare where you can download it. The link has firmware versions is 4.21.1 for hardware version 1.0. Just click on free user button if you don't have rapidshare account. You should be able to download it.
NOTE: Check the bottom of your router to make sure you have the correct hardware version. Disconnect all wireless clients from the router during the upgrade process. Make sure no wireless clients attempt to associate with the router until the upgrade process is complete.

  • WRT54GS v2.1 Firmware upgraded and wireless will not work

    Hi Everyone,
I have a WRT54GS v2.1 wireless g broadband router. I updated the firmware WRT54GSv3_4.71.4.001_fw.bin since that was what the linksys website said i needed. After updating the firmware on the router, my two laptops can see the router but are not able to connect to it. If I connect through the ethernet cord, then I can get online and access the admin page of the router. I have no clue if a setting got messed up or the firmware caused it to go nuts. Please let me know if someone knows anything.
    Thanks
    Delta

After you upgrade the firmware you are to reset the router by pressing the reset switch in back for 30 seconds.  When done, power cycle the router.  Now you must reconfigure the routers wireless settings as they are all gone.  Make sure the security settings on the router match your wireless settings.

  • Moderate NAT on WRT54G using tomato firmware

How do i get my NAT to open for my xbox live on a WRT54G v3 router using tomato firmware (latest version).
I opened ports 53, 80-88, and 3704 in the port forwarding, and UPnP is enabled. but i still get a moderate NAT, what am i missing?

    Xbox360 (wired), 2 PS3's (both wired)
PC's and Servers built by ME! (excluding laptops)

    OK,
I ran some tests on my 360....
I have the latest updates XBox360 installed, see router details in my sig...It's a Buffalo, not sure how much difference that is going to make.....
contrary to popular advice I have seen, I have my 360 network settings on full auto (IP and DNS), no port forwarding, with UPnP enabled. I run the XBox Live connection test, and it returns no problems...no mention of NAT, moderate or otherwise....
So....I set my IP to manually assigned, DNS to manually assigned, and re-ran the test, and this time it gave me a notice that I had moderate NAT....
So, it appears that the answer may be to just set everything to auto on the XBox, enable UPnP on the router, without any port forwarding configured for the XBox, and you are good to go. With this config, when I look on the UPnP page in Tomato, I see:
    UPnP Forwarded Ports
External  Internal   Internal Address Protocol Description
    3074      3074       192.168.0.140     UDP      Xbox (192.168.0.140:3074) 3074

  • WRT54GS v7.5 firmware

Hi guys this is my first message here, so hi to all readers..
Ok, I'm experiencing some problem with the QoS feature of my router WRT54GS,
(in practice it's not so configurable as I want, but this is my problem ...)
so, I googled a lot but I didn't find no modded (or simply newer than mine) firmware for my v7.5 WRT54GS.
There is someone know if and when a new version will be available?
thank u a lot in advance!
    bYe!

This is a community forum.  People from Linksys rarely, if ever, respond directly in this forum.  No one here has any insider info on when new firmware will be released.
If you want, you can contact Linksys directly, by phone or by email.  Occasionally they have given out beta versions of new firmware to users.

  • WRT54GS v7.0 firmware link wrong

When I go to the WRT54GS downloads page (http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT54GS/download), select version 7.0, it displays firmware Ver.7.50.6 available, but the link actually points to the firmware for WRT54GS v.5-6, Ver.1.52.6. The release notes link also points to the release notes for the v.5-6 firmware.

    it's fixed now. thanks

  • Download of firmware fails in three different browsers and wget

I ordered a tv, hasn't got here yet, but I wanted to download the newest firmware for it, http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/SL410U_Ver107_FW.zip , it starts and then fails or slows down and fails every time, in a few different browsers. I'm running debian linux and using firefox/iceweasel, opera, chrome and wget. Can't download with any of them.
Emailing it to the email I signed up with would be outstanding, if that's an option, perhaps the website is just undergoing maintenence and downloads will work fine later.

Waterfox is not an official Mozilla build of Firefox, so you can't expect everything to work right with it.
The plugin check page is manually updated to include new versions, so it's possible that a version of a plugin has been released but the plugin check page hasn't been updated to reflect that.

  • Firmware fail = non-functional mac

I was attempting to do a update my firmware and well now my mac mini has been rendered useless. When i press the power button, all that happens is the little led light turns on and nothing else happens. Now the only way to fix it is either to reprogram the EEPROM which isn't a possibility as far as I'm concerned or just replace the motherboard. It looks like I'm going to have to go to the genius bar and get the mobo replaced but unfortunately my warrenty expired in November and I do not have apple care. From what I've seen, the mac mini mobo costs about $500 (http://www.mac-pro.com/Mac-Mini-Logic-1-83-GHz-Intel-Core-Duo-661-4137). I think I'm screwed. Is the genius bar going to charge me a price higher than that of the computer itself for the replacement? Or could I get the apple care for $150 and then get the replacement for free? Or should I just hope to god that the mobo has a removable (socket) EEPROM and try reprogramming the firmware myself. Please help me out here, my parents are going to kill me!

+I was attempting to do an update to my firmware ...+
+I was just trying to restore the original firmware because I was having trouble starting up from an external HD. I have the mid 2007 mac mini 1.83Ghz Core2Duo (Mac mini 2,1). And I did indeed reset the SMU. Same results, the led goes on and the fans spin but nothing else happens.+
The more details you can provide us, the better the advice you will get.
What directions (URL please!) were you following to try to restore the original firmware?
(If I recall correctly, the only software available to roll-back a firmware was for situations in which a particular firmware update had failed. So I am puzzled as to what technique you were actually trying.)
As to solving the lesser problem of why you couldn't boot from an external, keep in mind that an Intel Mini would require a GUID partition map on that external drive for it to be bootable.

  • WRT54G version 2 firmware issued

    Good Evening all;
I mistakenly downloaded and installed version 4 firmware when i should have installed version 2.  My system (windows ver. 7) no longer sees the wireless router (WRT54G).  I no longer have the install CD and the version 2 firware does not seem to be available on the website.  Is my router now dead in the water?

it depends. is the power light on your router blinking? can you still access the router's "setup" page? did you reset your router after doing the firmware upgrade?
