WRT54G - v1.30.7, Jul. 8, 2003 - I need to upgrade Firmware, but can't figure out?

I have looked on bottom where SN is, etc. and there is nothing more than the WRT54G label....no version.  The other forums said there was a version after that above the serial number, but I cannot find it.
Can someone help me please?  I figure I need to upgrade it so that my PS3 can connect wirelessly to it because every time I try now, the PS3 disables the network entirely and I lose my vonage phone and internet connectivity for the computers until I recycle the modem and then the router....
HELP!

Got to the point of downloading the firmware you listed above and then when going to upgrade the firmware from the file I placed on desktop, and then clicking upgrade....I get a popup stating.....Incorrect Image File!
Now what should I do?
Do I need to do prior firmware upgrades to get to a point this one would be accepted?

  • WRT54G v3 is corrupted - webGUI setup page is corrupted after upgrading firmware

hello. I have a WRT54G version 3. I decided to upgrade to the latest Linksys firmware (4.21.1 as selected and downloaded from linksys website). I opened up the 192.168.1.1 WebGUI and installed the .bin file. It said it was a success, but when the page reloaded, this is what was left: http://i17.tinypic.com/72abuhh.jpg As you can see, I cannot open any page besides the "port foward" page - it is the only link visible. After trying to hard reset two or three times, the problem was still there (and existed with IE, Firefox, Opera and on two different computers) but I am able to get online. I tried the live chat and they told me to use the TFTP.exe fix loading the 4.21.1 firmware. It was a failure several times. I have reset/rebooted my router about a dozen times...changed my IP to static. Nothing works. Anyone know how to fix this? How can Linksys provide firmware that essentially ruins the router?

I tried the URL you posted and I got a picture of a Linksys router page.
When you enter the router's IP address in your browser - 192.168.1.1 - what happens? Are you prompted for a password?
By the way - are you using a hardwire connection to perform the update to the router?

  • WRT54G Not Supported By LELA...help needed

Alright, roughly 2 days ago I hooked up this router (WRT54G) to the computer, and then later that day hooked up a laptop by wireless signal.  These first couple of days were fine, but last night while on my laptop searching the web, I began to lose a signal every few minutes for roughly 30-45 seconds.  After becoming annoyed, I went to check out my network by using LELA.  However, instead of the screen I expected (showing your network diagram), I was told that I was using a new router.
Obviously, I hadn't changed the router so I was confused and decided to update, which was the option it gave me and because cancelling out wasn't possible.  However, it didn't work.  After going through the setup, which was essentially just like the original setup for the router, I got to the last step and it said the LELA didn't support the router, as though I was using one from another computer or something.
My dad said he had installed an Internet Explorer update and it had prompt him to change settings, and he had, but nothing that he thought would affect it.  Also, I did a system restore to a point just shortly after it was originally installed, and at a time I knew it had been working, but alas that didn't work either.
I've searched on google and all over these forums for some help, but I've found nothing that gives me good answers.  I saw somewhere to roll back my firmware, but I don't know how, as it won't let me connect to the internet through the router, and if I unplug the router and bypass the router for my internet then I can access the web, but obviously not the router.  I'm stumped, and wondering if maybe all I need to do is a power cycle or roll back my firmware.  Please, answers would be helpful.  Thank you
EDIT:  Also, I'm not sure where to find what version I have or what firmware I have.  I just know my model number, and that I can get to my settings by typing in the IP of the router in IE address bar.  I had enough knowledge to get it going, but its been very frustrating in fixing the problems.

Oh, and a couple more things.  Why did a system restore not work, shouldn't this technical reset the system back to a time when it was working?  Or, does firmware not change?  I suppose, I'm kind of a newb to the whole router thing, and to be really honest, we just barely changed to high speed internet the day before I bought the router.  The high speed modem was professionally installed.  I know for a fact I had it hooked up right, I mean it didnt seem too confusing and plus it was working great for a short time.  Thanks.
EDIT:  You know, now that I've done so much searching for answers, I've found that lots of people are having this problem, but yet, I'm having a hard time finding answers.  So you would think Linksys might fix this problem in a firmware update, and yet the only valid solution I have found is to go back to the previous firmware.  Yet, I don't know how to do that, besides I'm at school right now, so yeah thank you for the help in advance.

  • WRT54G / upgraded firmware, unable to access across subnets

    Hi,
I have a network with 10 WRT54G (v6) 's.  Recently I upgraded the firmware on two units from 1.00.7 to the latest 1.02.2 and am experiencing some network wierdness.
The wireless routers are connected via the LAN port to a linux router which is a firewall/bridge between subnets 10.1.3.x & 10.1.1.x.  I have rules in place to allow my workstation to http to the 10 routers and disallow everything else.  All of this is logged.
I cannot from my workstation (10.1.1.x) access the web interface on the two units I upgraded the firmware on 10.1.3.x).  I can still access the web interface on the remaining units (10.1.3.x)
I can however access the web interface from the same subnet to the newly upgraded units.
I can see from the firewall log that the packet is making it out correctly and tcpdump verifies this.
Does anybody have a clue what is going on.  I feel like it would be best to return to the previous firmware, but where do I find it???
    Thanks,
    Lee

    Hi Lee,
logon to ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/ and download the previous firmware version and try downgrading the firmware...

  • User Unable to RDP in Win 2008R2 Due to Multiple Group Membership But Can RDP in Win 2003 Server

We have built a new application server with Windows 2008R2 where set of users are local admin (application owners) and we have same kind of application server
in Windows 2003 SP2 with same users as local admin.
Now in Windows 2008R2 servers these local admins are unable
    to RDP and get ACCESS
DENIED whenever user tries to login but can login successfully in 2003 server.
Now, strange case is, I found these admin users group membership with more than 600 groups and they are able to login win 2008 server as well if I remove their
group membership to a minimum level say around 300.
This is so confusing for me as user can login in WIn 2003 server with highest group membership but not in WIn 2008.
We have applied Maxtoken registry also through GPO.
Any idea what are we missing here.

This has nothing to do with Directory Services so I will move to the General forum.
One thing to look at is to make sure that you have RDP enabled on these new 2012 servers.

  • Do I need to upgrade Windows Server 2003?

What roles are you running on your Server 2003? Less than 15 workstations, any plans for future growth?

I work at a small office, pediatrics.  I want to know if I still need to upgrade our server since we are using cloud-based for our EMR system. We only have less than 15 computers running on Windows server 2003. The server is mainly used for shared folders and shared printers only.  I need your advice.
    Thank you.

  • 2003 to 2010 Exchange upgrade

We are in the process of 2003 to 2010 Exchange upgrade so that they coexist in the same environment what I don’t seem to be able to find is as follows.
Question can users still access the old 2003 OWA web page after the upgrade integration of 2010 so we don’t have to configure all mobile devices in one hit, or do all users now have to use the new 2010 OWA webpage? In a nutshell will both OWA servers work
    side by side?

    Hi WillWheatcroft,
Exchange 2010 is smart enough to proxy/redirect requests.
    Please read this
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310763(v=exchg.141).aspx
    Regarding OWA
Add a new DNS entry e.g. legacy.domain.com (in both Internal DNS server and external DNS server) which is pointing to Exchange2003
Add that name in the certificate.
    Configure redirection or silent redirection.
    Please read this http://blogs.technet.com/b/sjimmie/archive/2010/07/09/owa-coexistence-with-legacy-versions.aspx

  • Cannot upgrade firmware to WRT54G v5

My Linksys WRT54G router has been dropping out lately and I've been recommended to update its firmware as it is very out-of-date. Well, everytime I try to upgrade the firmware to it, I get an error message that says "the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." I'm trying to upgrade the firmware through the router's site 192.168.1.1 under the adminstration tab. What else can I do to upgrade the firmware as that option is not working?

Before updating the firmware of your router, you will need to download the updated firmware file from homesupport.cisco.com. Firmware files are in .bin format.
    • To prevent upgrade failures make sure that your computer is connected to the router using an Ethernet cable for stable connectivity. Upgrading the firmware wirelessly may cause permanent damage to the router since wireless connection may be unstable during the process.
    • Use a different Internet browser if Internet Explorer doesn’t work or use a different computer to perform the upgrade.
    • To prevent failure disable firewall to ensure that the upgrade will not be disrupted.
    • Make sure that you downloaded the correct firmware and version for your device to prevent technical problems that may damage the router.

  • HT4759 I am using Windows 7 Ultimate OS which is a upgarde from Vista on my laptop with Microsoft Office 2003. I am trying to use ICloud with an IPhone 5 and IPad mini to stream photos but can't do this with my laptop or devices using my Three network. Wh

Can i use my laptop which is running Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade from Vista to stream photos using ICloud. The outlook programme used is 2003 and i my devices are IPad mini and IPhone 5. My problem is that i able to drag pictures into ICloud for it to send to my devices but nothing happens. Why?
I am grateful for any advice.

A hard drive if it has failed will sometimes allow you to boot into windows but may not work completely (Eg: In a scenario, where system partition ;where windows is installed works fine but logical partition of hard drive has gone bad).
On certain conditions, if the hard drive is on verge of failure may/may not respond completely. I would suggest you to run a diagnostics using Seagate Seatools which works on any hard drive irrespective of manufacturer to actually confirm if your hard drive has failed.
Also, any hard drive can fail in spite of it been 1yr old or 1day old as its all manufactured in bulk and most of it comes from China

  • WRT54G v6 - Can Connect to wireless network but can't access internet

Ok, this is my last resort for help. I spent two hours yesterday with linksys "chat" support to no avail.
    First the techincal details:
OS for all machines = Windows XP
Laptop w/two adapters - one wired, one wireless
    WRT54G v6 upgraded with 1.00.9 firmware
    SpeedStream modem from DSL provider
I have manually set the IP, subnet mask, gateway, primary and secondary DNS for my wireless adapter (using the Alternate Configuration in the Internet Protocol Properties of the Wireless Network Connection). When I connect to the wireless network I see that the IP, subnet, gateway and DNS server IPs are all correct (via ipconfig /all).  I see that I am connected to my SSID (11.0 MBps, signal strength Excellent) however I can't access web sites (the server not found message appears in the browser) nor can I ping the router IP or any other IP (LAN or WAN).
My wired PC works fine with this router. My laptop works fine with this router when wired.
Anyone face a similar situation and have a solution?  Thanks.

    A new discovery...
When I disable the wireless security on the router, I am able to connect to the wireless network, ping the router and access the internet.  So, there is apparently something wrong with the WEP security (although I am able to connect to the wireless network when WEP is enabled).
I am thouroughly confused. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • PDFMaker in Outlook 2003 Stopped Working After Upgrade to 8.1.4

I am running Outlook 2003 and Acrobat Standard version 8.  I recently accepted an automatic update to Acrobat Standard 8.1.4.  Now, whenever I run PDFMaker in Outlook 2003, none of the email messages I desire to archive are converted.  In my logfile created after the conversion, the note next to each email header states simply "Item failed to convert".  PDFMaker was working perfectly before the update to 8.1.4, and now it appears to run fine, but fails to convert any of the messages.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Carey

Thanks very much.  That seemed to do the trick.  Although running a repair on Acrobat didn't help, running it on Outlook seems to have fixed the problem.

  • Can connect to Linksys WRT54G but can't get to the internet.

    PowerBook G4 17" 1GHz with OS 10.5.4
    Linksys WRT54G v8.00.5
    SpeedStream DSL Modem
I am having a strange issue. I am able to connect to my wireless network with my PowerBook and can see the Linksys setup page, but I cannot get on the internet. If I bypass the router I can get online with my PowerBook. If I use an ethernet cable connected to my Linksys I can get online with my PowerBook. My Sony Viao can connect wirelessly and get on the internet with no issue. My PlayStation 3 and PSP have no issues. It is solely this machine that is having the issue. I contacted Linksys and went through their troubleshooting to no avail.
Does anyone have any idea as to what the issue may be, or what I can try to resolve this issue? I have done everything I can think of and no luck. Any ideas?

    64 bytes from 208.67.219.99: icmp_seq=0 ttl=47 time=88.752 ms

I plugged the IP address into Safari and, although there were 27 errors, the page loaded. I hadn't tried that before. Interesting.
The fact that the ping worked means you are connected to the Internet, and what is likely failing (causing the "You are not connected" message) is DNS name resolution.
DNS name resolution is what converts names like "www.opendns.com" to numbers, like the numbers I gave above, 208.67.219.99.
Changing your system to use the OpenDNS DNS servers, as directed above, will fix the name resolution issue on your system.

  • WRT54G. Computer sees network but can't connect over wireless

So I have a WRT54G router since a couple of years now.  Laptop (Win7 64bit), ipod, ipad, phones can connect to it without a problem, but new computer (Win7 64bit) can't.  I can connect the PC via ethernet without a problem though.
I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462.  I also tried deleting the HomeGroup
Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it.
My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date.
I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.
    I use a cable ISP.
I've been looking at everyone else's posts with similar problem but none of the suggestions fixed my problem.  Anyone has an idea?  I'm no techie so I may be missing something important/obvious...   Thanks a lot for replies (please don't hijack!)

  • Active Directory: 2003 to 2012 R2 Upgrade across single forest with child domains

I just have a quick questions about something that should be simple. We will be upgrading our current domain from Windows 2003 functionality to Windows 2012 R2.  This forest has domain and two child domains.  I have two questions.  Since we
have to do this in a few steps in order to get up to 2012 functionality I am wondering where is it consider best practice to start?  In the Root (top level) domain of the forest or in one of the child domains?  I want to say the root (top level)
domain is where I would place my first Windows 2012 R2 box and promote it to a domain controller.  Then move to the child domains one the root domain controllers have all be replaced with Server 2012.
Kristopher Turner | Not the brightest bulb but by far not the dimmest bulb.

Yes.  We are working with the client to migrate any dependencies off these 3 NT legacy domains.  We will be able to decommission 2 of the 3 without any issues.  However, they still have an old NT box running SQL 6.5 databases for a application
still in production.  Yes, they are very aware that NT isn't supported, that that version of SQL isn't supported, and that this will hold up their upgrade.
Our plans for them will be to deploy all new Windows Server 2012 R2 domain controllers but keep the domain and the forest functionality at 2003 in order to support that final NT Legacy domain until they can get that application migrated.
Once that NT domain is decommissioned then we can raise the functionality of the rest of their domains from 2003 to 2012 R2.
