  • WRT54GS v2.1 Firmware upgraded and wireless will not work

    Hi Everyone,
I have a WRT54GS v2.1 wireless g broadband router. I updated the firmware WRT54GSv3_4.71.4.001_fw.bin since that was what the linksys website said i needed. After updating the firmware on the router, my two laptops can see the router but are not able to connect to it. If I connect through the ethernet cord, then I can get online and access the admin page of the router. I have no clue if a setting got messed up or the firmware caused it to go nuts. Please let me know if someone knows anything.
    Thanks
    Delta

After you upgrade the firmware you are to reset the router by pressing the reset switch in back for 30 seconds.  When done, power cycle the router.  Now you must reconfigure the routers wireless settings as they are all gone.  Make sure the security settings on the router match your wireless settings.

  • Moderate NAT on WRT54G using tomato firmware

How do i get my NAT to open for my xbox live on a WRT54G v3 router using tomato firmware (latest version).
I opened ports 53, 80-88, and 3704 in the port forwarding, and UPnP is enabled. but i still get a moderate NAT, what am i missing?

    OK,
I ran some tests on my 360....
I have the latest updates XBox360 installed, see router details in my sig...It's a Buffalo, not sure how much difference that is going to make.....
contrary to popular advice I have seen, I have my 360 network settings on full auto (IP and DNS), no port forwarding, with UPnP enabled. I run the XBox Live connection test, and it returns no problems...no mention of NAT, moderate or otherwise....
So....I set my IP to manually assigned, DNS to manually assigned, and re-ran the test, and this time it gave me a notice that I had moderate NAT....
So, it appears that the answer may be to just set everything to auto on the XBox, enable UPnP on the router, without any port forwarding configured for the XBox, and you are good to go. With this config, when I look on the UPnP page in Tomato, I see:
    UPnP Forwarded Ports
External  Internal   Internal Address Protocol Description
    3074      3074       192.168.0.140     UDP      Xbox (192.168.0.140:3074) 3074

  • WRT54GS v7.5 firmware

Hi guys this is my first message here, so hi to all readers..
Ok, I'm experiencing some problem with the QoS feature of my router WRT54GS,
(in practice it's not so configurable as I want, but this is my problem ...)
so, I googled a lot but I didn't find no modded (or simply newer than mine) firmware for my v7.5 WRT54GS.
There is someone know if and when a new version will be available?
thank u a lot in advance!

This is a community forum.  People from Linksys rarely, if ever, respond directly in this forum.  No one here has any insider info on when new firmware will be released.
If you want, you can contact Linksys directly, by phone or by email.  Occasionally they have given out beta versions of new firmware to users.

  • WRT54GS v7.0 firmware link wrong

When I go to the WRT54GS downloads page (http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT54GS/download), select version 7.0, it displays firmware Ver.7.50.6 available, but the link actually points to the firmware for WRT54GS v.5-6, Ver.1.52.6. The release notes link also points to the release notes for the v.5-6 firmware.

    it's fixed now. thanks

  • WRT54G version 2 firmware issued

    Good Evening all;
I mistakenly downloaded and installed version 4 firmware when i should have installed version 2.  My system (windows ver. 7) no longer sees the wireless router (WRT54G).  I no longer have the install CD and the version 2 firware does not seem to be available on the website.  Is my router now dead in the water?

it depends. is the power light on your router blinking? can you still access the router's "setup" page? did you reset your router after doing the firmware upgrade?

  • WRT54G Version 2 Firmware Reset?

    Hello,
I have a Linksys WRT54G Version 2 that I installed the V.6. firmware on, and now I cannot connect through the router, or even reach the admin panel. Is there a way to reset Version 2 like Version 5?
Thanks!Message Edited by Kadratis on 11-25-200612:49 PM

you can try to reset this router for 1 min. and Then try to upgrade the router firmware with v2 firmware. Go to site: ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network and search for tftp.exe and download tftp.exe and use this tool to upgrade the firmware file to this router. May this help you!
Make sure you upload only v2 files.

Are you getting any specific error..?

Use the hard-wired computer (connected to the router) and try to use Internet Explorer to upgrade the router's firmware and check.

  • WRT54G V3 New Firmware

    Hello,
I got my WRT54G sometime ago and I've being updating the firmaware as time passed by. However when I did the latest one (4.21.1) The Router came up, however it is like does not allow any internet traffic to pass throught. I did check everything possible (PPoE is UP). It is like I have a rule that stops everything. DMZ does not solve it. I tried to get my old firmware and seems that I deleted it. So now I'm at square #1 since now I ended up loading the original firmware 3.xx that has a lot of bugs. Any ideas from the forum? Does anybody has the previous firmware that can be pass to me.
    Cheers

The 4.21.1 firmware has some sort of problem. I updated three different routers this week and two of them have had the same problem as you described. (waiting for the third one to die too).
What does get it working is doing a factory reset from the web interface. (need to reenter all the configuration info again...)
Not sure if this will actually *solve* the problem or just patch it up for a couple of days.
(in the mean time, I am downloading the previous firmware versions just in case...)

  • WRT54GS Version 5 Firmware Upgrade

I am confused as to how to update the firmware on my WRT54GS Version 5 Linksys router.
I went to the support section on here, but there are five different options of router firmware upgrade. I bought this a year ago and figure it needs the update, can someone help me?
The choices I found on here are:
Upgrading the Linksys VPN Router's Firmware
Upgrading the Linksys Wireless-G Access Point's Firmware
Upgrading the Linksys Wireless-G VPN Router Firmware
         Upgrading the Linksys Router
Upgrading the Linksys VOIP Router's Firmware
Which one would I want for this basic network router? The reason I ask is because my wireless Internet is constantly down. It won't work unless I do a hard reset of the router each time. It is annoying that I have to do this all of the time. I have never had this problem in the year I had it until six weeks ago. I have to reset it numerous times to get it to read the Internet and then go into the settings and rename it each time. Also, the router and my PC and my landlords laptop always connect through to the router fine, it is just the Internet causing problems.

Hi… you can use choice no. 4 which you’ve mentioned, enter the model number >> WRT54GS >> select version 5 and save .bin firmware file on computer and upgrade it according steps…

  • WRT54G v.7 Firmware 7.00.3.......

    Hello there,
Anyone who has installed and tried firmware 7.00.3.
    Experience.....?
    Thanks,
    Eno

I've updated my WRT54G V7 with this firmware and many things are indeed fixed. The range of the wireless signal increased drasticly (from very low to very good). Since the upgrade I haven't need to reboot the router. I hope this will keep working and keep my fingers crossed...
You can find the beta version on the UK site of linksys.

  • Revert from DD-WRT to Linksys WRT54G v5.1 firmware

    I'm using DD-WRT v24-sp2 build 12548M on my Linksys WRT54G v5.1.
Where can I get the Linksys original firmware (v5.1) and how can I install it?

I don't think there's still an available firmware for any version of the WRT54G. This is a really old Linksys model and I'm not sure if there's a firwmare available anywhere else.

  • Lynksis wrt54g V5.1 firmware

Hello, i have tried to download upgrade(v Ver.4.20.8) for my wrt54g router it always says failed. Checked again if i downloaded correct software and always says same thing. i currently have Ver.1.00.6 and would be nice to get it updated. can anyone help me?

Just to make it clear, hardware version is different from the firmware itself. Selecting a hardware version not for your router will brick and render it unusable. I noticed that you have a firmware version 1.00.6. Your hardware version must be 5.0 or 6.0. So you need to make sure of this one before attempting to upgrade.
Going back, I downloaded the firmware without a problem. May you need to try downloading it using a different browser like google chrome, etc.
I've uploaded the firmware to rapidshare where you can download it. The link has firmware versions is 4.21.1 for hardware version 1.0. Just click on free user button if you don't have rapidshare account. You should be able to download it.
NOTE: Check the bottom of your router to make sure you have the correct hardware version. Disconnect all wireless clients from the router during the upgrade process. Make sure no wireless clients attempt to associate with the router until the upgrade process is complete.

  • WRT54G Version 7 Firmware

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade my router's firmware but it doesn't seem to work. I have downloaded the latest firmware and upgraded it. The setup says that it was successful but nothing happens. The firmware version is still the same. I tried hard resetting and turning it off already but to no avail. I also tried restoring the factory defaults after the upgrade but the firmware is still left intact. Can you guys tell me what to do? I have ran out of ideas.

When did you upgraded the router last time...?
What is the Firmware Version says under the status tab on the router...?
The Current firmware for WRT54G v7 is Ver.7.00.8..If your router already had the firmware Ver.7.00.8 and you re-flash the firmware with same version  then,it will show you the same firmware.

  • Access restrictions w/ WRT54G Ver 8 (Firmware 8.0.5).......

It seems that Access Restrictions are a bit of a problem w/ the Linksys routers. Well, here's my story to go with the crowd. Hopefully, someone at Linksys / Cisco can provide a solution.
I am wanting to set up access restrictions on my Linksys WRT54G Ver. 8 (Firmware 8.0.5). Following the "instructions", I built my access restrictions as follows:
    Policy 1
    Enabled
    Named for my PC
Edited List of PC's - inserted my NIC MAC address and saved the settings
    Set to "Allow" Internet Access
    Everyday
    24 Hrs per day
    Saved Settings
    Policy 2
    Enabled
    Named for my daughters laptop
Edited List of PC's - inserted her Wireless NIC MAC address and saved the settings
    Set to "Allow" Internet Access
    Sun - Thur: 07:00 AM - 09:30 PM
    Fri - Sat: 07:00 AM - 10:00 PM
    Saved Settings
    Policy 3
Enabled Named for my wife's desktop
Edited List of PC's - inserted her NIC MAC address and saved the settings
    Set to "Allow" Internet Access
    Sun - Sat: 06:00 AM - 11:00 PM
    Saved Settings
....then, I reset the router. Once up, I tried access from each PC...nothing. Couldn't get out.
Thus, I went back into the Linksys set up, disabled the access restrictions. Viola ! I'm back on-line with all three PC's.
Checked around the forum and found that some people had built a primary policy that included all of their PC MAC's or IP addresses and was "Enabled" and set to "Deny" Internet access 24/7. From there, they built out their access restrictions and, supposedly, they worked.
I tried that as well...deleted all the access restrictions. Reset the router and went through the entire router setup to be on the safe side. Built the primary "Deny" access restriction then my other three PC restrictions. And....it still didn't work.
Thus, I would really like to get this working so I can limit my daughters access. It's interfering with her school work so I want to lock her down a little bit. Friends are important to her but I've stressed that her education is even more important.
Thus, if Linksys themselves or someone on the forums can provide an answer, excellent ! If not, I'll look into another router that can do the job. I'd rather not do that, but if the Linksys won't perform this function, I'll have to. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Thanks for the reply. I deleted all profiles and built just the two specific for my daughters laptop and one for my wife's PC. My wife's PC is running XP SP3. It follows the access restriction policy with no problems. My daughters laptop is running Vista Home Premium. With the policies active, her connectivity was sporadic for about an hour before it just finally shut off her connectivity completely...well before the policy was supposed to.
Thus, I'm now thinking that thismay be a Vista problem to an extent as well(Gee....who would have thought that !?!?!?!?).
I disabled the IP 6 protocol just as a precaution. Still no access. And when I disable the policies on the Linksys, she's back in service.
    Any further suggestions are appreciated.
