WRT54G v7 disconnections solved

Hi,
I updated the firmware with this one and the disconnection and out of service problems went out.
The update was done from router Web admin panel and the configuration of precedent firmware (7.00.4) has been saved.
Now the problem is that Web page has been a bit screwed. A file (share.js) containing JavaScript is broke and some code of the page is not written. The page still have correct Spanish (I live in Spain) characters with all tildes and nothing of chines (that's why the Web of link is in chines ).
Maybe the problem is just the JavaScript file with incorrect code but i don't know how to solve this, since access to file is not an option (or it is???).
Well fortunately I think I could write a local page with frames to correct this... meanwhile my wifi router WRT54G v7 is still working without an issue (and with p2p softwares running all the times).

Hi...
Try reseting and reconfiguring the router. Also set it up as keep alive specify the redial period. Change the MTU setting of the router to manual and specify the value as 1300. Also the PPPoE connection on the computer should be disabled when router is dialing.

  • WRT54GS v7 Disconnects random

I have a problem, my wireless router has been disconnecting randomly for about as long as i can remember. i upgraded its firmware to 7.50.6 and it still does it. Most of the time that it happens it connects right back up within seconds but sometimes i have to reboot it (unplug and plug the power cord). Its getting very annoying because sometimes im downloading something or streaming something and it gets disconnected or when playing some games on my PS3 i lose all my progress and waste 20-30 minutes for nothing . it basically has normal default settings except it has a WPA Personal TKIP password. but everything else is set to default. When it disconnects it disconnects both wireless and wired connections. It happens to the laptop, desktop , and even my ps3 when playing online. Can anyone help me out ? Any help is very appreciated, Thanks.

Since you have already upgraded the firmware of your Router, have you resetted your Router and reconfigure all the settings on it again, If not then Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Here are the wireless settings which you can set on your Router, I think this might solve the problem.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Wireless channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...

  • WRT54G Suddenly Disconnects

Its fine when i start the modem and used it for maybe around an hour, then it just suddenly disconnects.
it shouldn't be a ISP issue because when i dial up manually it never disconnects.
When it disconnects, i need to restart the router to continue using the internet, this gets really annoying when you're browsing stuff or gaming.
    Please help, I'm using WRT54G, firmware v7
Windows 7 ( i guess the windows doesn't affect my internet connection )

Who is your Internet service provider?
If you connect the computer directly to the modem, it works fine.
Try to upgrade/re-flash the firmware on your router.
Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Download the latest firmware from Linksys website and save it on your computer. Open the setup page of the router. Click on Administration tab and go to Firmware upgrade sub tab. Browse the firmware file that you have already downloaded and upgrade it on your router.
After upgrading the firmware on the router , it is recommended that you should reset the router and reconfigure the router.
Press and hold the reset button on your router 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 10 seconds. Power cycle the router.
Follow this link to reconfigure the router with cable Internet service.
Follow this link to reconfigure the router with DSL Internet service.
Once you reconfigure the router, open the setup page of the router and reduce the MTU to 1365. Power cycle the router and check the connection

  • WRT54G V5 disconnects

I have a WRT54G wireless router. Lately every 20 minutes aprox. the router seems to disconnect my modem and knock it offline briefly. When I have my modem directly connected to one of my PC's this issue does not take place. I have the latest firmware version for the router and have tried two of the same routers and the issue still happens. I am using a satelite connection through xplornet.com Anyone know of anything that will fix this in the router settings? It didn't happen for the first few months using the router, only recently.

I have read on other forums that these router are fairly touchy as far as how much data you can push through them before they give up and reboot.  Have you recently started using any file sharing programs that could be potentially generating more traffic than your router can handle?  If you yourself have not started using a program ilke this, then has someone else that could be connecting your network?  Do you have any type of wireless security setup?  If not then I would recommend doing so in order to stop people from abusing your connection.  Another posibility is that there could be something else residing on your omputer generating traffic, like a virus.  In the past there have been several viruses that generate enormous amounts of traffic on networks.  Check the LEDs on the front of the router and see if any of them are blinking unusually fast.

  • WRT54G Gaming disconnects

I have a WRT54G Version 8 Wireless router. My computer is hard wired to the router while my wifes is wireless. if we are both online & I am playing a online game the router will disconnect me from the game but not the internet. my wifes computer sometimes will totally lose her connection when this occurs. If I try to reconnect to the game it disconnects me about every minute. Once this happens the only way to fix it is to unplug the router, wait 10 seconds & then plug it back up. I was going to try to set the MTU to the ping i was getting to the game servers but it was below 900 so I didn't change it. then today my router totally reset it's self to all default settings. I have no idea whats going on. Can anyone help??

Open router set up page using http://192.168.1.1 ….. Click on status check the firmware of router.
    Follow this link
After upgrade of router reset for 20-30 seconds & reconfigure the router.
    Use MTU size 1365.

  • WRT54GS keeps disconnecting

I have either a version 1.0 or 1.1 of the WRT54GS and I had been using unencrypted as I lived in a pretty rural area, since moving to a more busy area there are other WIFI connections so therefore I decided to enable WPA2 on my network. Upon doing so the network works fine unless you either download, stream or anything high bandwidth. The network disconnects altogether from the computer / laptop that was carrying out the task. Disabled WPA2 and the network worked fine again with no disconnects or anything whilst doing same tasks. Any ideas? I have the latest firmware and the firewall option is enabled if any of you are wondering.

You can Enable the Wireless Secyruty on your router again... Login to your Router setup page and Change the Wireless Settings .... Click on Advanced Wireless
settings>>Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation...
Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect.... After this You can try.

  • WRT54G Connection Dropout Solved

Recently I had been experiencing random connection disconnects on my WRT54G router to both the PC Ethernet and internet modem. Turning the router off for 30 seconds and then back on restored the connections. The same problem occurred when I replaced it with a WRT54GS model. I tried many of the suggestions placed on this forum without success. The only common item in all this extensive troubleshooting was the router power supply. I replaced the Linksys switching-type power unit with an older linear/transformer-type and haven't had a dropout since.

    hEy!
in your case,,a hard reset usually works  to actually change the password of the router....
try doing the hard reset by pushing the reset button at the back panel of the router for 30s and and push it for another 30s while the router is off...
    it wOrks for me..

  • ESATA HDD Random Disconnect SOLVED!!!

    Fellow ThinkPad owners:
I've spent the greater part of the past two days trying to resolve the issue of my eSATA connected ThinkPad 500GB SHDD's tendency to randomly disconnect itself. I had just gotten my new W520 with Windows 7 64bit preinstalled, and was happily working away (I'm a banking applications developer) when out of the blue I would get a ThinkVantage message asking me to recover my current files to the C:\ drive. To my surprise and dismay, I noticed that this was occurring immediately after my HDD had "dropped" off MyComputer's list of available drives! I spent all day on the phone with Lenovo tech support to no avail. I did notice, however, that opening the ThinkVantage ToolBox (PC Doctor application) was a surefire way to cause the HDD to "drop" off immediately.
    SOLUTION:
    Uninstall ThinkVantage Toolbox!
The problem has now ceased, and I've also noticed that the fan in the W520 is not nearly as overactive as it had been while the ToolBox was running in the background.
Come on Lenovo, don't saddle us with additional bloat that actually impedes proper function of the **bleep** hardware!
And to PC Doctor, I suggest heeding the Hippocratic Oath: "FIRST, DO NO HARM"!!!!
    Danny

    Thanks for posting your fix...
I agree, ThinkVantage Toolbox has gotten pretty invasive as of late. It has also become less useful, although you can install custom add-on modules to make it better.  Anyway, it is possible to keep the program installed w/o having all the background tasks.  This leaves the Blue ThinkVantage button active.
    Install TVT
Launch TVT, Settings, then untick "Enable Quick Hardware Check", Save
right click on task bar and uncheck TVT
    run taskmgr.exe
    Disable PCDEventLauncher, PCDoctorBackgroundMonitorTask, and SystemToolsDailyTest
PCDEventLauncher will most likely be recreated if/when you next run TVT- but it is of little conequence.
Also, are you are using AHCI?  It is required for eSATA hot plug (+ some other features).  We have had systems that refuse to keep a eSATA drive connected when running in compatible mode.

  • WRT54G - random disconnect

Honest, I did look through a few pages for a similar issue/resolution. Found some similar but not exactly the same.  We've had our router for about 9 mos and it is now acting up.  When the router is idle and we're not on the net for a couple hours (typically at night or when we leave the house) it disconnects.  We have to unplug the router, wait to count of 5 or 6, plug it in and it reconnects to the DSL after about 1 minute.  Excellent signal for all our PC's while the router is doing what it is supposed to - but let it sit at idle for a couple hours -- and it shuts down.  A friend told us we must be having power surges or ?? and that we should get a UPS.  I kind of doubt this is the issue because this little quirk only started the last month or so.  Before we take this as the solution, run out and buy the UPS - thought we'd give these boards a try.
    Thanks for any input.

  • WRT54GS semi-disconnect?

I've owned this router for about 3 days now, bought it brand new.
I've noticed that it semi-disconnects. It tells me I'm not connected in the EasyLink Advisor, yet I'm using messengers just fine. However, if I close the messenger and try to reopen, it tells me I'm not connected. If I try going to a web page, I'm not connected. I can have a perfectly working messenger, talking to a friend, meanwhile if I open up IE, I'm not online.
I have no idea what's wrong with it. Ideas?

hi... open I.E. click on file and uncheck "work offline" >> then click on Tools >> Internet Options >> and click on delete cookies, delete files and clear history >> click on the connections tab >> make sure that "never dial a connection should be checked" and click on LAN settings and uncheck every option...check whether it makes any difference or not...

  • Casio Commando wi-fi disconnect solved with static IP

I have had continuous trouble with my 1 month old Casio Commando C771 (Android 2.3.3) disconnecting from my home wi-fi network.  The issue would come and go with no consistent reason.
The phone shows and remembers the home wifi network info and shows the SSID in the list of many others nearby.  It properly tries to connect and says "obtaining IP address...".  Then is says "disconnected".  My router logs always show "Wireless system with Mac address xxxxxxxx disassociate reason 1".  "Reason 1" seems arbitrary and I cannot find out what the error code means.
    Network info:
    WPA2 PSK security
    IPv6 enabled
    MAC address filtering
    D-Link DIR-615 wireless router
As far as the router goes I believe it is good.  I can connect 4 other wired and wireless devices without trouble.  Only the phone has issues.
After spending 2 very long calls with verizon tech support nothing was resolved.  First time they had me "hard reset" the phone by pulling out the battery while it was on.  That got the phone and wifi to connect.  (Not a good long term solution in my view)  But the next day it would not connect.   Second time they had me do a *228 roaming update and this magically fixed the issue at that moment.  But the next day the Commando went back to refusing to connect to my network.
I tried reducing the length of the PSK password, turning off IPv6, broadcasting and not broadcasting my SSID, rebooting the router, turning MAC address filtering  on and off, even using an open connection with zero security.  Nothing worked as a permanent fix.
Sometimes the phone would connect after I messed around with one of the above settings and sometimes it would not.  Sometimes my phone would just magically connect to the network with no trouble.
To see if DNS was an issue I removed all other devices from the network so the phone would be the only IP address assigned.  Once that did work and I then connected my other devices to wifi again and everyone was happy.  Then later the phone was disconnected.  So to me it did not appear the IP's and DNS were the issue.
But just to see I disabled DNS on the router and gave static IP's to all devices.  BAM! like magic the phone connects every time with a static IP.
I hope this helps someone else.  If anyone has a better solution please let me know.

I am not using a static external IP with my ISP.  Mine does not allow that either for home accounts.  I set static addresses for my internal network of devices.  Check your router to see if there is an option to set DHCP "reservations".  Your external IP provided by your ISP to connect to the internet is not effected.

  • WRT54G Router Disconnects

I thought i would put this in a different thread than my wireless problem.  I am wired into the wireless router, was working fine all night.  When i woke up this morning it was disconnected.  I didnt have time to mess with it, but any ideas on what the problem could be.  Im not sure what the firmware does, but Ive read that its pretty important to update, and I have not done so just yet.  Would this be one reason?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

Does this happen at any regular interval ? does it happen often ?
Upgrade the firmware if you are using an older version of it.

  • WRT54GS v6 Disconnecting

I've had the router for about two years now.  About a year ago, the router would all of a sudden stop at exactly 12:01, and then reconnect to the internet.  At first this was annoying, having my connection dropping in the middle of doing something important was a hastle.  After a while, I figured out the pattern and was able to get around that.  But now there is an even bigger problem.
It randomly disconnects now, starting a few weeks ago.  During the mornings, it's not nearly as bad; I'd say a disconnect once every hour to two hours.  However, during the middle of the day to night, it can diconnect every 5 minutes or LESS.  Sometimes I cannot even load a home page before the connection drops.
There is nothing blocking the antennas.
My main computer is a wired connection.
I have reinstalled the latest firmware.
Nothing has changed around the router within the last two years, no new phones or what not.
It is not an ISP problem; if I plug directly into the modem there are no connection drops.
When this happens, I run into the router room and notice that the orange light has gone off and then comes back on when the connection is working again.
Please help me figure this out, I'm a few days away from giving up with this router and buying a new one!

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last firmware upgrade, please do this now and see if it corrects your problem.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
To reset the router press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
After resetting the router you should re-configure it...
