WRT54G V8 disconnects while downloading

I have a problem with my linksys router.  It always seems to disconnect while i'm installing anything on my playstation.  I can be streaming, playing online, or anything else but as soon as i update or install my linksys kicks out (yellow light off) and the download freezes.  This only happens with my PS3, i have 2 other laptops that update or download just fine.  Please Help!!!

You might be experiencing internet bottleneck which largely related to network congestion. This link might help: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=fbf8e8564632422eaa8ea80bf9dcba64_386.xml&pid=80&re...

  • DSL disconnects while downloading updates after appstore download.

    Hi everybody,
I have a painfully slow 768kb Internet connection at home and while I am downloading updates, the computer momentarily loses the connection with the server, forcing me to start the download again. The modem doesn't say it's disconnected, the data stream goes to zero (on my modem's monitoring utility and iStat)  and then I can click ok and then click download updates again.  If i check the update boxes one at a time, it'll pick up where it left off, but if they're all checked, they all have to start over. This started to happen after I downloaded FCPX, Motion and Compressor from the appstore (I remember it took more than 12 hours). I noticed it when I ran the Motion update. Before that It would finish my update downloads no problem. Now I'm trying to download the most recent updates for iPhoto and iTunes. The modem/router I'm using is an old 2Wire Homeportal 1000HG on the American Telephone & Telegraph (AT&T) 768k DSL plan. It does this if I am on wifi or hard wired to the modem/router unit and happens at random time intervals.
Does anybody else have this problem?
Could it be Apple's server seeing how slow i'm getting data from them and kicking me off?
Is AT&T getting mad that i'm downloading alot of data and disconnecting me?

I work for one of the companys and would be willing to bet, that the 2wire modem is power cycling for no reason and knocking you off.  It is hard to catch, but I've seen it.

haha, so now i'm thinking. I'm learning the terminal as fast as i can but there are several lines of codes and commands in there that throws up red flags to me that i don't fully understand. It just looks fishy too me. It would be highly appreciated if someone could just check this out just to tell me that i don't need to worry about it. Or point me in the right direction. I just feel un easy about this. ha.

There is something Definitely wrong with iOS 7 regarding DATA USAGE being logged to wireless carrier in for WIFI instead.
I read all the previous replies and same issue.
I rarely use my mac to sync....its all wifi sync for the last 2 years....never had this issue before... and i know it began with iOS7.... here is why....
My iPhone was at home when I updated to iOS7 connected to wifi...but it logged Data Usage to Rogers Wireless (700MB approx)...data will never do an update over 50mb in app store (it gives the warning to use wifi) I play a lot of games and pay for them so I always update through App Store.  2 weeks later, simposons halloween update (650mb)...at home, using wifi.
Rogers told me there was 700+mb data usage on the day of update and 650+mb data on oct 1.st (tapped out).
Went over my 6GB plan and paid the fees.
This has never happened before...It must come to apples attention by now...

  • IMac disconnects when downloading large files

The internet on my iMac is a wired connection, hooked up through my router. It works perfectly fine and never disconnects while I'm browsing, playing games, or anything like that. When I download small files, things are still fine. Whenever I download something that takes more than a few minutes, my connection will shut itself off like clockwork. It then takes a minute or two to kick back in and resume, but then after another few minutes it will disconnect itself again. It isn't my ISP, since my laptop (Windows 7) downloads fine on this same network. My iPhone and iPad also have no problem downloading large files on this network either. What could be causing this strange issue with my iMac?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Why is the network disconnecting since downloading leopard os on my mac

Why is the network disconnecting since downloading lion10.7.2 ?
    Message was edited by: Jimfromtx

Just corrected leopard to lion.  I connect wirelessly to my router.  Shows as connected in taskbar but isn't until I go to network settings and reconnect.  Then will stay connected while I am using.  When I leave computer alone for 30 minutes or so and return have to do reconnect process all over.

  • System lags while downloading

    I have a PB G4 Rev D (1.67, 2gb ram, 128 vid) that is just over 3 years old.
I have the latest release of Tiger running on it. Just prior to updating I noticed that while downloading from iTunes or the internet whether the file is 1gb or 60 gb my computer lags. The download doesn't but I can't really use the mouse as it just stalls. When I can get it to move I click on something else (another window) and it takes a few moments to register.
I updated to the latest release of Tiger in hopes that fixed everything, no dice. I hooked my computer directly to the internet, no dice. Finally I checked to see that everything was working (hard drives (verify/repair, hardware, software, ram slots) and everything seems to be in order.
This being a new development I'm lost. I am about 12 days out of Apple Care and would like this machine to last about another 3 months until I get back from my East coast trip.
Does anyone know what could cause this or what else can be done to perhaps fix the issue?
I also watched my activity monitor while downloading. Nothing else was moving but iTunes would take between 15 and 70% of my cpu (it fluctuated constantly) while downloading.

Several questions comes to mind ...
    1. You mentioned mouse. If you disconnect the mouse and use the trackpad during download, still have the issue? Do you have any external devices plugged into any port? If yes, unplug and recheck behavior.
    2. Did the problem start after installing any new software or hardware drivers?
    3. If you have nothing else running, ie no iTunes, does the behavior change?
    4. Do you have any 3rd party drivers installed? If you go to system preferences is there anything listed under 'other' or if you look at login items under accounts? If you remove them, does that change the behavior (if there are login items, set up another login account with no login items, reboot and use it... does behavior change)? If you do have, for example, a mouse driver, you might download a fresh copy.
Have you reset PMU and PRAM? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449 and http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238 . Any change in download behavior?
If you've already considered those with no change in lag, then ... while the issue came up before the upgrade to 10.4.11, did you do that and prior updates through software update function? If so, download the combo update from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
Before you install it, if you don't have OnyX, get the Tiger version from http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html . Do the cleaning and maintenance tabs, ensuring you clear the system caches amongst the activities. You may need to reboot your system.
Then repair permissions, install the combo update, then repair permissions again. So you can now be pretty confident that you have a complete operating system, as clean as can be without an erase and install of the hard drive. Working now?

  • Disconnetcting while downloading from itunes store?

can i disconect my ipod from my computer while its downloading things? i'm downloading a game but its on wait and a couple of videos (3 are downloading and 5 are waiting)
    thanks in advance!

Yes, you can disconnect or have the ipod disconnected while you are downloading from the itunes store.
It is usually a good idea to make your downloads first then connect up your ipod so itunes can move your new purchases onto the ipod.

  • While downloading an ITunes upgrade, my Ipad froze.  All I see is the Itunes logo and a picture of a USB cable.  Everything is frozen.  Tried resetting by holding down the wake button but I get no slider button. IPad is frozen.

While downloading an ITunes upgrade, my IPad froze.  All I see is the ITunes logo and pic of a USB cable on my screen.  Tried to hold down the wake button while connecting the USB cable to override it but no results.  Still frozen with ITunes logo.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

Force your iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • What will happend if the net disconnected while up...

    hello guys ...
I just want to know something about Updating phone software via Nokia PC suite..
first , I have Nokia N8 and i reinstalled the software many times because i formatted my phone and got some problems ..
anyway, I want to know if the net disconnected during " downloading phone software " to my PC , harms the phone or affect the stability of the oftware i am downloading ..
I downloaded the software many times and the net disconnected in accident at the middle and when it come back , the download continues .. but , i doubt that this will have harm effect or something ....
I don't want to harm my phone or break it , so if net disconnected a nokia suite and all it's files and install new one again and download the SW again .. i made it many times to ensure that i must download the SW as one-shut .... I am tired of that

Take a look at this thread. Also read the following about updating the software -
Please note that if you have set a memory card password & you have forgotten its code then take a backup of the card data also as the card will be locked after update and can only be unlocked if you enter the correct code or by ways mentioned in this thread.
Also note that while updating the device ensure the following things-
    The device is full charged.
The internet connection Is of good speed & has a backup in case of power loss.
The PC should also be connected to back up power source as if the process is interrupted the phone may go dead. More on update failure & its remedies here.
Please do not run any resource intensive programs in the background while updating as it may freeze the PC which in turn will lead to a dead device.
Ignore all the windows pop-up notifications about device being disconnected.DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PHONE UNTIL UPDATE IS COMPLETED.
It will be better if you disable security keyguard & PIN code request before proceeding with Update/Reinstallation.
Sometimes the device may show Test Mode. Do not panic & DO NOT remove the cable. Let the process complete.
Just wanted to confirm that when you restarted the download does it show the complete size of the update or the remaining when the connection was dropped? When I recently updated the phone firmware of my C3-01 the connection also dropped in my case. On restarting the download it began from the middle showing the remainder. When I installed the firmware it did not update it. Then I had to remove PC suite & all its contents (after taking backup of my pvt data) & reinstall it. Then i restarted the update of the phone & was then able to update.
Please mark the post as solution if it solves your problem.

  • Error while downloading. message on E71 GPS USA Ma...

“Error while downloading” message on E71 with updated GPS USA Maps
I’m sure I’m not the only one having this problem but I recently updated my maps on my Straight Talk Nokia E71. The phone says I have map download V 3.03 10wk bo4 Mw Open GL LM MN, Map version 0.1.25.114.and I’m using Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23. After I installed V3.03, I installed it and download the 1.46GB USA map file and the three turn by turn files. But when I first started the GPS app I started getting the following error “Error while downloading”(This is on phone only)
I have tried to factory reset the phone, re-format the 8GB memory card, remove City data and GF files and even unloaded OVI Suite and reload it. But every time I select GPS app and start to find places or my position, I get "Error while downloading" message. I’m new to this phone and didn’t get a respectable book from Straight Talk. So I don’t know much about this phone or Nokia OS. What is this error and how do I fix it. Also when I try to sync from the phone I get the response "system error". Ovi suite on the PC says I have downloaded all the USA maps and English voice  with street names. Please help I’m at a lost.
    Computer specs
I am running Win-Vista, with a Broadband connection. 3 GB Ram, 2 gig Pentium dual core.
Tran’s flash card has plenty room left on card over 5 gigs left.
If I need to delete a file on the phone please tell me the exact file name because I’m not sure which one to remove from the apps folder.

    Welcome to the forum!
Whilst easy for me to say as keep very little data on device, I would suggest backup essential data then delete E:\cities + ,qf file followed by resetting device to "Out of box" state by keying in #7370# then 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself). At this point you would need to open OVI Maps application on device to re-initialise application and re-define necessary folder structure on memory card for device to be recognised by OVI Suite > Maps to re-download your regional mapping.
