WRT54G V8 - no connection - All Lights on SOLID all of a sudden

My WRT54G has worked fine for the last few months but all of a sudden our laptop lost its internet connection. When I went to look at the router it had 5 solid lights, 1,2,3,4 and internet. It doesn't matter what cables are plugged in, those light will always be on. even if it is just the power it is only those lights, and the power light seems to be on but it is dim, definitely not even 1/2 as bright as the others. The lights are on solid, not blinking, and are on from the second I put the power cable in. This happened all of a sudden, I was not doing anything out of the ordinary. I can't find any solution for it. I have reset it (pushing the reset button for 30 seconds) and it is the same situation. When I type in 192.168.1.1 in my browser - "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.1." ; so my computer cannot even communicate with the router. I am at a loss on what to do. I have a wired router that I am using now that is working just fine. Does anyone have any ideas what happened here? Thanks!

When all the light are on, there's something wrong with the router. Reset it for 30 seconds. If there's no change, unplug/replug the power cord and reset it again. If you have the same results and your router is less than a year old, call them for a replacement.
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • 7914 Expansion module - all lights are solid red

    Hi,
I am trying to get an expasion module 7914 to work with my 7960.
These are some extracts from my config:
    CONFIG (Version=4.0(1))
    =====================
    Version 4.0(1)
    Cisco CallManager Express
    load 7914 S00104000100
    load 7960-7940 P0030702T023
At the moment when I go into the ephone with the expansion module, I can NOT enter the "add-on 1 7914" command. It is simply not available and not listed when I do a "show a?" command under the ephone
It seems to me that I am using the correct firmware but I can't get the expansion module to do anything. It simply sits there with a blank screen and all the buttons lighted in solid red.
The 7960 attached to it is working properly.
Any ideas why this is happening?
    Thank you

I am responding because we also had difficulty getting our two 7914 expansion modules to work with our 7960.
I'm not sure I understand your problem with configuring the ephone. Are you using a telnet into the CME gateway and the CLI (Command Line Interface). I would do it that way, not through any kind of browser or GUI.
You will need to log in in enable mode and then
    CME# config t
    CME# ephone
    CME# type 7960 addon 1 7914
Hope this helps some... Try TAC if all else fails.

  • Connection of PLEK400 Drops and All Lights Go Dark

My computer is in my bedroom on the second floor, while my router is on the first. From the moment I got my computer I've had problems with the wireless connection (As in it NEVER worked), so I bought a Belkin Wi-FI extender that worked nicely for about a year. It was a done deal and all was fine, until a few weeks ago when it went bad and I had to get rid of it. As wireless still didn't work (I'm really assuming it has to do with the connection to my computer from the router being too weak, as I have a crappy router-and-modem-in-one device which was provided by my ISP (Windstream)), I decided I needed another network extender. After lots of research, I set my sights on the PLEK400 which I then purchased along with some generic ethernet cables from Staples. I plugged one into the wall downstairs with an ethernet cable running from it to the router, and plugged another one into the wall close to my PC with an ethernet cable connecting the PL unit to the PC. The connection established, and I was overjoyed that my PC finally had Internet after those few Internet-less weeks. However, after browsing the Internet for a while, I went to open a new tab, and for some reason, I got the error err_network_changed (My browser is Google Chrome). I looked down at the PL unit and all of the lights were dark, none of them lit. After refreshing the error page a few times, it righted itself, the page loaded, and the two lights were flashing with the power one a solid green, like normal. Strange, I thought. However, this problem has begun to occur every 5 to 10 minutes. This would not be an issue, however, I am a gamer, so when I am Skyping my friends and playing online and the call drops and I have to disconnect every 5 - 10 minutes, I become very agitated. vv IMPORTANT? vvOur house is very old, so the entire thing is on the same breaker, so I know it's not that. I've heard that when there is a lot of electrical noise in an outlet (Many things connected to it), that can cause problems, so I'm going to state for the record that the powerstrip on which my entire PC setup operates and my upstairs PL unit are plugged into the same traditional two-plug outlet. (Don't know whether that may be a problem or not.)^^ IMPORTANT? ^^ I would really like to get these working or send them back as the entire setup (PLEK400 and ethernet cables) cost me about $60 - $70, and as a teen, that's a bit of money to me. Fast response is greatly appreciated by anyone who has any solutions to offer. I will be checking this post frequently throughout the night and following days for anyone who has anything to offer. If this is a product limitation and there is no way to fix it, PLEASE JUST TELL ME SO. I prefer to return everything and seek alternate solutions than wait too long for a solution that may never come to the point where I can no longer return anything and I am out $60 - $70. TL;DR: Lights on PL unit go dark, no internet for a minute or two, lights come back on, internet works again. Happens every 5 - 10 minutes. All replys are great, fast ones, especially so. As previously stated, any help is appreciated!!!! Thanks so much in advance, --Edwin

If you say that all lights go dark (including the power light), it means that the device itself is power cycling which is not a good thing. If it was just the power line light or the ethernet light, it would have been normal since that indicates disconnection, but if it's the power light, that's a different story. Does this only happen if you are using the internet or does it act the same way even on standby?   Press and hold the reset button of the device for 10 seconds using a pen or a paper-clip and powercycle the unit. It will also help isolate the situation if you try a different power source. BTW, have you tried checking if the 1 port PLE switch is acting the same way?

  • WRT54G Router - All lights continuously flashing?

This morning my WRT54G's lights (link/act, Full/col, 100) were continuously flashing on and off simultaneously and I'd lost all network connectivity.  I've not made any changes (firmware) to the router for about 1 year, and it's been working fine.  I've pulled the plug on the router and when the power's back on, the lights go out but still no connectivity.. after a while all the lights start flashing. I'm just wondering if I need to buy a new one

Quite right! The old adapter says the output is 5v and I do have another lying around.. my router is up and running   thanks for the tip.

  • Have connection to base station, solid green light but no internet ??

    Hello,
At my wits end. I have a a brand new Airport Express, a brand new Dell laptop running Vista Home Premium and an older model Westell Wirespeed DSL modem. Although I have a solid green light on the Airport base station, and have no problem communicating and printing wirelessly, I cannot connect to the internet. All indications from the Airport Utility show a normal connection with a signal strength of 'very good' to 'excellent'. I configured Airport to DHCP, which is what my ISP (Verizon) provides. Sometimes upon startup, my computer first tries to connect to an 'unknown network' and I have to manually switch to the Airport network I created. I've been through this at least half a dozen times, resetting the modem, the base station and re-setting up the network but no luck getting on the internet so far. What am I missing here? Thank you!

If anyone happens to stumble on this, I solved the issue on my own. The TC/IPv4 protocol on the PC's wireless network properties was set to a static IP address. Once I reset it to dynamic, it worked fine.

I can print from all other applications, just not any Pages documents.

    Hi,

  • WRT54G v8 Hard Failure -- PORT LIGHTS ALL ON, BUT NO ONE HOME

I have a new WRT54G v8 Wireless Router that my dad purchased (he's 86 and I'm 59 -- so neither of us is a spring chicken) at WalMart about a month ago. We had a power failure the other morning but the router worked fine after that all evening. BUT the Next Morning -- Ganz Kaput!
Power Light is extremely dim, DMZ totally dark, WLAN appears dark, but all 4 ethernet port lights -- and the Internet port light are bright and steady. Cannot get packets through it, browse to it, or ping it -- despite power cycling and factory reset. It just does not respond at all.
When you power cycle it -- the power light never blinks -- so I don't believe it is completing the power-on self-check either.
Went through the mill with tech support. They recommended the usual reload == but not possible if you cannot communicate with the device.
Has anyone seen the same thing? From the posts on the board, it appears there may be a problem with this unit, but have not yet confirmed.

Okay bud don't feel bad about your linksys problem.  I have the same error I was using it and it went all lights on and my modem didn't recognize my ethernet port in use. Also the power light is DIM not blinking.  Fortunately i only bought this two months ago from circuit city and am going to return it tomorrow.  I don't think its firmware. I would try checking your warranty on your linksys. I think it may be defective thats why im returning mine. Good luck and post if you find anything that works.

  • Bizarre WRT54G, DDNS, internet connectivity problem

The other day, we lost power at home (my cable modem and router are not on a UPS - they will be shortly). The problems started soon after that (it can't be a coincidence, but I'm stumped as to how they are related). After everything powered up, we could no longer connect to the internet from any machine on the network. When I checked the WRT54G however, I found that it was connected to the outside world and had a valid IP from my ISP. Poking around from outside my network (at work, for example) showed me that if I try to connect to my web server, I instead am routed to the router setup page (I have remote config turned off and port forwarding on, and it has worked flawlessly in the past).
Further investigation showed that my DDNS service (TZO.com) was not working (the error message is "Connect to server fail"). I double-checked with TZO and they do not see an issue on their side.
Any ideas for further investigation? I'm stumped at this point. I'd almost say the power problem fried the router, but if it did, it seems to be an awfully selective frying. Thanks in advance, and please let me know if there's additional information needed to help.
    My setup:
Time Warner Roadrunner cable modem (not sure of the type/model)
    Linksys WRT54G router, firmware 4.21.1
    TZO.com DDNS service
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well try upgrading the firmware of the router & keep on holding tightly the reset button in such a way that power light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router & then plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & check out it will definately work!!

  • Hp officejet pro 8600 flashing all lights

Flashing all lights until I press the power button. I notice it will not happen if I disable the wireless icon.

    Hello @hmgm123,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're encountering a blinking light state on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Now you indicate in your post that the flashing lights occur until you press the power button and this issue doesn't appear to occur if you disable the wireless. Now just to clarify, after about 5 minutes or so your printer is designed to go into a power save sleep mode state. When this occurs you will see a flashing power button. However, when you print to you printer the printer will automatically wake up for you and print the job. At the very moment the printer awakes from sleep mode the green power light will return to the normal solid state. With that being said, the blue wireless light will flash if the wireless is enabled but your printer is not connected to a wireless network. This blinking wireless light indicates that your printer is searching for a wireless network to connect to. The light will remain Off if the wireless feature is disabled if you are not using it. The wireless light will remain solid if you are utilising the wireless feature and the printer is connected to a wireless network.
With all of that being explained, does this normal blinking light behaviour match what is occuring on your machine?
Here's more information: What is Sleep Mode?
If not, when exactly does the flashing light state occur?
I look forward to hearing from you!

  • WRT54G V2.0 Connection Issues

After resetting the router to connect a new network.  I connect the hardware step by step.  I run set up with the software provided by the manufacture.  All lights read normally.  Wireless devices will connect.  But software will not connect the router to the internet.  No wired PC can connect.  If anybody can help me figure this out I'd appreciated it.

Check the physical connection first...Modem should be connected to the router on internet port and computer to the ethernet port on the router. Now,Check the light status on the router...Power light should be solid and there should be a wlan, ethernet and internet light on the router.
Now,Check the IP Address on the computer which is connected to the router...Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt......In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway...
IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...
If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer...
If you get 4 replies then type ping 4.2.2.2 and press Enter, if you get request timed out, then you need to upgrade your router's firmware...If you get 4 replies then type ping yahoo.com and press Enter...If you get replies for Yahoo then you should get the Internet after adjusting the browser settings...
Adjusting Browser Settings : Open an IE, click Tools >> Internet Options, then delete all files, cookies, history, forms...Goto "Connections", make sure Never Dial a Connection is checked, click on LAN Settings and make sure all the options are unchecked...Once you are done click on O.k...Close the IE and re-open it...

  • Ideapad u310 is not powering up - all lights are blinking

Hi, i got a u310 that is not starting. Not only not booting, but not powering up at all. Plugged or unplugged the result is the same. All lights are blinking when i press the power or novo button(power button, power led, battery led and caps lock light, all white). They all blink together each 5 seconds and i hear a small click, like it's trying to power on or something. I can however press the power button again for a couple of seconds to turn it off.
The battery led blinks only when it is unplugged. When it is plugged, the battery light stay on(solid, white).
Anyone can help ? I've looked through the forum and could'nt find anything about this.
    Thanks in advance

    1. Remove any peripherals connected to the laptop.
    2. Remove any power strips and surge protectors.
    3. Remove the battery.
    4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    5. Install the battery back and try to power ON.
    6. Connect the charger and try to power ON.

  • WRT54G v6 - Can Connect to wireless network but can't access internet

Ok, this is my last resort for help. I spent two hours yesterday with linksys "chat" support to no avail.
    First the techincal details:
OS for all machines = Windows XP
Laptop w/two adapters - one wired, one wireless
    WRT54G v6 upgraded with 1.00.9 firmware
    SpeedStream modem from DSL provider
I have manually set the IP, subnet mask, gateway, primary and secondary DNS for my wireless adapter (using the Alternate Configuration in the Internet Protocol Properties of the Wireless Network Connection). When I connect to the wireless network I see that the IP, subnet, gateway and DNS server IPs are all correct (via ipconfig /all).  I see that I am connected to my SSID (11.0 MBps, signal strength Excellent) however I can't access web sites (the server not found message appears in the browser) nor can I ping the router IP or any other IP (LAN or WAN).
My wired PC works fine with this router. My laptop works fine with this router when wired.
Anyone face a similar situation and have a solution?  Thanks.

    A new discovery...
When I disable the wireless security on the router, I am able to connect to the wireless network, ping the router and access the internet.  So, there is apparently something wrong with the WEP security (although I am able to connect to the wireless network when WEP is enabled).
I am thouroughly confused. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • My iPhone 5 got problem when connect with lighting cable, this will keep pop up message "this accessory may not be supported"

My iPhone 5 got problem when connect with lighting cable, this will keep pop up message "this accessory may not be supported", I can't charge or sync at all. I tried plug and unplug many time, still can't detect/charge my iPhone5, but sometime will 'lucky' that can connect to my iTunes and charge battery…
This message will auto pop up also when I don't have plug anything in my iPhone 5, It is very annoying…
The lighting cable is original and now i'm using OS 7.0.4 / iTunes is 11.1.3
What I can do to fix this problem? Thank you.

I would try using another cable you can likely borrow one to test from somebody
if it's the same then likely the connector in your iphone have been damaged

  • Xserve will not boot up, all lights flash rapidly

Just bought a lightly used Intel Xserve.  This unit was in a business that failed, and was set up, but never used.  Was powered off and unplugged for approximately 18 months.  When we tried to plug it up to check it out & configure it, we noticed the following:
System will not post and won't boot
Hard drives do not appear to spin
CD Drive appears to have no power - will not grab disk
All fans do work, and run on high RPM
All lights on back of server and front of server, as well as next to SDRAM slots, and on back of main board flash / flicker (regular quick flashes, no pattern evident).  The only light that does NOT come on at all is the light next to the power button.
Anyone heard of a similar condition?  Is this server toast?
    Thanks,
    Rob Hogan

I'm sorry to say I don't have a solution, but I can commiserate.
I have a G5 and two G4's, and so far within a few days / couple of weeks of getting them home and getting them up and running, they seem to fail.
    Usually spectacularily.
The G5 operates very much as yours in that power on, fans rev high, and no post or other activity; I don't get any system light status action however other than flashing. I've replaced CPU's and logic board on this.
The single CPU G4's does much the same, but this I've had up and running and then it went down when I upgraded the memory to max (very careful to make sure it was within Apple spec's), and despite swappinbg the original memory back in,nothing.
My latest, a dual core G4, was bought in working order, and I upgraded this from 10.4 to 10.5. Running nicely as a internet gateway. Went away for weekend so put it into sleep mode. Came back, power button on front panel stopped working, and one of the raid slices on the system drive failed.
Tried to repair this and system now no longer boots, but freezes on loading OS (spinning disc stops in mid spin) and it will not boot from installation disc via firewire or internal DVD drive (swapped in a replacement to ensure it works). The installation disc stops at the apple splash screen, but goes no further.
I can, helpfully, get into Open Firmware mode, so something is working on some level. Sadly, I can't seem to find a copy of the Apple Hardware Test for this machine (see my post on this) to check it out.
I can tell you that I'm getting very adept at working with Xserve hardware, if not very effectively.
My working hypothesis on this is that there is some issue with these units being used 27/7x365 for however long, and then being left 'off' for a prolonged period.
Thinking that whilst they are designed to operate reliably as constantly on and working under load, so facet of being 'off' breaks 'something'.
If really pushed to go out on a limb, I'd theorise that under load the electronics/IC's settle into position, but then when switched off things cool down, contract, and causes weaknesses in electrical connections to occur. When next used, these then start to fail, giving a pattern of initial operability followed by delayed failure with a cascade of increasingly servere symptoms until terminal failure is reached.
But that is wild, uneducated, conjecture.
So, no help, but I comiserate.
    XD Andy
btw, is anyone has some useful advice for me on where to find the AHT 2.0.1 for Xserve or even just the part number ... ... ...
