WRT54G ver. 6 --- Connection Problems

I am currently plugged in to the DSL box.  It's working and, obviously, I am online and able to use the internet, BUT when I plug the DSL box and the computer all into the WRT54G ver. 6 Wireless -G Broadband Router, it says I have a connection on both the home computer that it is plugged into and my wireless laptop, but the internet does not work.  All of the lights on the router and the DSL box are lit up and work right.
I really wish someone would help me out with this. D;

dsl connections..need to be set on 2 internet type
1ppoe: >>you do have a username and password
2:dhcp>>dynamic ip
you need to ask your ISP first if what is your internet connection type
and kindly reply to htis message if you do have those information

try out a few tweaks in the wireless settings....
change the ssid , channel to 1 or 11...
under the "advanced wireless settings" , change the beacon interval - 50 , fragmentation threshold - 2304 and RTS threshold - 2304 ....
do a power cycle after changing the settings

  • WRT54G Wireless Router connection problem

I recently connected a Linksys WRT54G to one notebook computer, with a wired connection. This computer uses the Vista Home Basic operating system.  I have another computer using Windows XP Home which I connect to the Internet through this Notebook through my wireless router.  However since replacing my D-Link 11 mbps router with the Linksys Router,  My second computer does not locate my new connection.  I suspect that it has something to do with the settings on the second computer, but can't figure out how to resolve this problem.  Hopefully some of you experts out there can tell me how to deal with this.

Click on the Start button >>> go to RUN>> type in "services.msc" >>
click on OK- On the Services Local page double click on the
option "Wireless Zero configuration"- Here the Startup Type should
be "Automatic"- Click on the "Start" button and "Apply" the settings
    and OK.
    Deleting Preferred Network
Click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>>Network
Connections >>Here right click on the "Wireless Network Connection"
icon and select Properties- Click on the "Wireless Network" tab- Make
sure that ""Use windows to configure my wireless network settings"" is
checked- In the "Preferred Networks" box select each network name and
click on "Remove" to make it empty- Click on OK.
**Click on the "Advanced" button(below the Preferred Networks) and
    make
sure "Access point(infrastructure) networks only" is selected- And
    also
make sure that "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks"
    should
be unchecked >> click on "Close" and click on OK on main properties
    window.
    Connecting to Wireless Network (WLAN)
Click on the Start button >>> Control Panel >>> Network Connections-
Right click on the "Wireless Network Connection" icon and select "View
Available Wireless Networks"- If you see your wireless network in the
list, highlight it by 'single' clicking on it- Now click on
the 'Connect' button below- If your wireless network is secured, it
would ask you to provide the network key- Provide the wireless network
key and confirm it again in the confirmation box and
click "Connect" & you should be able to go Online Wirelessly!!!

  • Developer 2000 ver 5 connecting problem with 10g

Is it possible to work developer 2000 ver 5 with 10g database? When I connected in Form Designer it worked after a long time But when in runtime both form and report gives network error. So, Please give a solution for developer 5 to work with oracle 10g.
    Thanks & regards.

    Hi,
We use forms 6 and had the same problem and at this time upgrade to a new version is not possible; so we found two ways to handle this (Note we have form 6 to this may not work for you):
    a) Compile your forms using a database 8 or 8i, and the fmx should be able to connect to a 10g database. this means a daily backup from to 10g to 8i or at least make sure you have the same db structure.
    b) Perform a partial forms upgrade of procedure builder:
from the help menu on forms open "About form builder" and check the version of installed products.
Download forms 6i and upgrade only "Procedure builder" with this:
Oracle Procedure Builder V6.0.8.21.0 Build #1459 - Production
option b has been working for us, we are able to connect to a 10g database without problems.
Of course, this is a work-around, not supported by Oracle or anyone for that matter, so make sure you test it in a couple of machines before using in a production envrionment.
    Regards,
    Hugo.

  • Bizarre WRT54G, DDNS, internet connectivity problem

The other day, we lost power at home (my cable modem and router are not on a UPS - they will be shortly). The problems started soon after that (it can't be a coincidence, but I'm stumped as to how they are related). After everything powered up, we could no longer connect to the internet from any machine on the network. When I checked the WRT54G however, I found that it was connected to the outside world and had a valid IP from my ISP. Poking around from outside my network (at work, for example) showed me that if I try to connect to my web server, I instead am routed to the router setup page (I have remote config turned off and port forwarding on, and it has worked flawlessly in the past).
Further investigation showed that my DDNS service (TZO.com) was not working (the error message is "Connect to server fail"). I double-checked with TZO and they do not see an issue on their side.
Any ideas for further investigation? I'm stumped at this point. I'd almost say the power problem fried the router, but if it did, it seems to be an awfully selective frying. Thanks in advance, and please let me know if there's additional information needed to help.
    My setup:
Time Warner Roadrunner cable modem (not sure of the type/model)
    Linksys WRT54G router, firmware 4.21.1
    TZO.com DDNS service
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well try upgrading the firmware of the router & keep on holding tightly the reset button in such a way that power light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router & then plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & check out it will definately work!!

  • WRT54GS Ver 6 - Connectivity Issues.

I purchased this WRT54GS about a month ago, and got it working. Everything worked fine, then this morning I started having issues. My Internet keeps 'locking up' to a certain point. When it happens:
-I lose the ability to go to any web page
-My online game I play connects fine, and works normally - but then it crashes when I try to go to a new Zone
-Internet applications (Anti Virus, Spybot) can't connect to update - they don't 'see' the internet
Yet - my VOIP continues to work normally. However, to use any other Internet functionality, I have to use Ipconfig /release and /renew.
I have bypassed the Linksys router, and connected directly to the Cable Modem - and the problem vanishes. I tried updating the Firmware, no change.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this?
*Edit = I've checked out all the configuration options I can, and checked out every FAQ I could find. I hope someone reads this soon who can offer some advice.

"Frunple" is right.Your problem is not unique and has been experienced by many customers who bought version 5 and 6 of this router. I was one of them who had 3 or more random disconnects a day for over 2 months. Linksys tech support tried very hard to correct this with many different reconfigurations but nothing helped. Exchanging the orignal router to two more version 6 routers also did not cure the problem. Only when I changed the router to a WRT54GL did the problem stop instantly.
The reason is that the WRT54GL is really a resurrected WRT54G version 4 which was based on a different design. Starting with version 5 and 6 Linksys changed the RAM from 16 MB to 8 MB and the Flash Memory from 4 MB to 2 MB. They also changed the operating system to "VxWorks". Something is very wrong in this design.
If you want to cure the problem then try to replace your router with a version 4 or earlier or get a WRT54GL which is really a "WRT54G version 4" with a new name.
Since I did change I have now not had any disconnects for one month.

  • WRT54G ver 6.0 problems

I have a good internet connection when I hook the CPU direct from cable modem but every time I try to connect the router I get Limited to no Connectivity. I have tried reseting, and disconnecting and I still can't got online.
I can talk to other computers on the network but can not go online. I have to unplug from the router, and plug into the modem directly to go on line.
I have reset both the modem and router to default, and it still won't work and it did before.
    Thanks
    Ken

Your problem is that your modem and router are using the same 192.168.1.x  address space.
Disconnect the modem and router.   Then, using a computer that is wired to the WRT54G, login to the WRT54G at 192.168.1.1 and change the "Local IP address" to  192.168.2.1  then click on the "Save Settings" button.   Wait 3-60 seconds for the screen to refresh.  You will likely be disconnected from the WRT54G.  Exit your browser and power down your computer and the WRT54G.
Next, reconnect the modem to the Internet port of the WRT54G.  Your system should work.  If not, in your computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall, including Windows Firewall, and see if that helps.  If you still have trouble, login to the WRT54G and verify that "Internet connection type" is set to "DHCP automatic".

  • WRT54G ver. 7 problems

PC connected via cable and it works on a wireless network on a laptop, after some time (5-10 min), it disables the Internet (Skype and the torrent works) no ping (if enabled laptop without a PC, it works fine) if it is to restart it for some reason changing IP address and have to release and renew DHCP. then everything is fine for 5-10 minutes. What is the problem and how to solve it?

Uograde your Router's firmware and then reconfigure it..As you have WRT54G V6 Download 1.67 MB firmware and follow the given steps..
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • WRT54GS Ver 6 connection issues

Does anyone know what would be causing my router to loose connection every week? I've done whatever was suggested in the forums here and still every week I have to do a hard reset to get the router back online. When this issue occurs I'm unable to log into the router's admin page, yet I can ping the router from all my PC's. This is the 2nd Linksys router that's I've gone through and both had the latest firmware. I'm thinking of moving to DLink or Netgear. Thoughts?

As you are loosing connection every week ....it seems that routers software is not working properly ........ download the latest firmware from http://linksys.com/download ...... after upgrade reset the router for 20-30 seconds .....
check if it is showing same problem.....

  • WRT54G ver 7 disconnecting problems

me and my friend have the same problem with the same router and in the same version.
everytime (it get be hour/s less or more or after a day) the router is getting out from is synchronization and i check that ping is working to it but yuo can't go to is home web (192.168.1.1).
why this things are happening ?
    what we have to do.
the only thing that help for now is disconnecting the router from electric power and plug it again.
    Help me please
    Thanks Tomer

I lose my internet connection 2 or 3 times a week and have to unplug the router from the power source and reconnect after about 20 sec.  What causes this and what is the solution?

  • WRT54G v.2 connection problem

I have 2 desktops wired to the router and 1 laptop wireless connected. Everything worked fine for years. After a bad storm knocked out our power my router wouldn't connect to the internet with both desktops connected. It works with one or the other both not both. Also, I can't configure my LAN, and the WLAN LED is not on. I have tried to reset with the reset button with no results. I can't access the web setup page with the 192.168.1.1 IP address and when I check ipconfig/all the IP address is 75.39.121.246. When I checked the IP address on my other desktop, it is 75.39.121.245. After a very long session with a Linksys tech?, the instructions I received didn't help. Nothing I have done so far has made any difference.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on with this router?

I think the issue is that your router is working as a Pass-through device. You may need to upgrade the firmware on this router. So download the latest firmware and then disconnect the modem from the router. Hard reset the router for 1 min, assign a static IP on the PC and then upgrade the firmware.

  • WRT54GS ver.6 disconnection problems

Everytime I turn on my laptop and when it connects automatically or whenever I turn on my gaming consoles (xbox360 and PS3 wired connection) its just drops my desktop's internet for at least 10 sec and then comes back on... already updated the latest firmware and still the same...any suggestions?

As you upgraded the firmware on the router...you need to reset the router for 30 secs in such a way that the power light on the router is blinkin & then you need to unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router. Then you can plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are solid yo can plug in the power cable to the router & you will be Online!!!

  • WRT54G ver 6 disconnect problem.

every hour or so my computer just drops the connection.
it usually happens when im playing an online game, no matter how close i am to the router it always happens.
is there a way to maybe release some of the strain my game causes on the router?
    im on windows xp.

logon to router's setup page, try changing wireless channel to 11, go to advanced wireless settings reduce beacon interval to 50, reduce fragmentation and rts threshold to 40 by each, also try upgrading latest firmware on the router...check whether it makes any difference or not...

yoou need to reconfigure the router according to the configuration of the modem and ISP. and make sure that the new modem is not a modem-router built in...

  • WRT54G Ver 6 Internet connectivity problems

    Alright so here's the deal.
I'm on Windows XP with Verizon DSL (in Orange County, CA) that uses a Westell modem (just modem, not modem and router combo).
I have the old Linksys BEFSR41 v.2 router that runs with everything fine.
I just bought the WRT54G Version 6 and connected everything up as needed.  Powered things down and then back up.  And it could not detect an Internet connection, but I could access the router via web browser.
    - Ran the Setup CD and it couldn't find the internet.
    - Upgraded the firmware.
    - I searched the forums and did not find a successful solution.
    - Called my ISP to confirm it is DHCP.
    - Talked to Linksys Support via phone and he had me do all sorts of stuff.  Releasing, Renewing, Local IP Address changes, pinging, MAC, etc.  All this to try to get some sort of IP address with the internet.
    - Tried it with a diff WRT54G Ver 6 (Yeah.  I bought two.  One for me, and one to bring to my parents), and it still didn't work.  (Can't be that both the routers I got are defective.)
    - Searched forums some more and ran across the EasyLink program.  I used it, and it tells me my freaking Wired adaptor is disabled.  Where do I enable it?  Can't be my computer because it all works fine with the old Linksys router I got....or could it?
    - Powered down and back up in many different combinations.
Did all that to no avail.  Anyone got a solution?  I couldn't find anything that worked.  I'm about to go return this and get something else tomorrow.  Maybe if I wake up, there will be a workable solution that is replied back.
Thanks in advance to all those that tried to help and posted something, or didn't post due to having no solution.
    - Chris

Yup Yup Yup.  I tried the WAN address thing and it still didn't work.
I was about to pack everything up and go return the stupid thing.  BUT.....I decided to talk to Verizon DSL support since I hadn't tried that.
    They helped me out good!!!
    Here's the solution.
I plugged in the old router, the BEF, and went to Status to click the DHCP Release.  Then unplugged the old router.
Then per Verizon DSL support instruction....powered down the modem, then powered it back up and waited for lights to stabilize.  Then I plugged in the new router, the WRT.  And went to Status (IP was already autofilled, with internet working) but I still clicked DHCP Renew.
    It all works.  WOOOOOO!!!!
By the way.  The WAN address thing is important.  I went to it on the new, WORKING router and disabled the WAN address.  The internet stopped working.  I re-entered in the WAN address I copied and the internet worked again.  So......yeah.
I hope for all those out there having the same problems as me, and without a solution, see this thread and try this.
Thanks again for your guys' help.
    **edit**
By the way.  Is there a way to stop my internet to being a stickler to this MAC address?  I'm just curious.  I'm gonna go google MAC address and see if I can read anything useful.
