WRT54G version 3.0 Streaming Video Issue

I have a WRT54G v3.0 wireless router that constantly drops connection when I try to stream video from the internet. If I eliminate the router and connect my laptop or desktop directly to my cable modem streaming video works perfect. Once I put the wireless router back into play and try to stream video I lose connection to the router. Normal internet use (e-mail, sports sites, etc.) work fine but as soon as I go to a site like youtube or espn and try to stream video the wireless connection drops. I have read numerous message boards that talk about firmware upgrades that will fix the problem but all of the message boards talk about WRT54G versions other than mine. Can anyone out there tell me why my WRT54G v3.0 router constantly drops connection when streaming video as well as tell me how to fix it?
By the way I currently have firmware version 3.03.6 (Jan 6, 2005) installed

I think the latest for v3 is firmware 4.21.1. Check out your model and version on http://www.linksys.com/download
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • WRT54GS v6 streaming video issue

Recently, I bought the wrt54gs (version 6) wireless router and noticing that some people have problems with the firmware when it comes to streaming (such as the BEFW11S4 using the older firmware v1.50.14) I have installed the latest firmware v1.50.8.  I am still having trouble playing streaming video (it did not change a thing): it constantly buffers every 10 secs (which does not happen when the router is not connected).  Is there anything I can do to help with this situation?

Couple of things you can try . Ensure that the application you are using for streaming media has it;s ports open on the router...For the port numbers http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~rakerman/port-table.html
Also on the setup page of the router, change the MTU value to be 1492 and see if this works for you.

  • Live streaming video issues

I look after a little old ladies PC in Australia from Canada.  She used to watch live video from a webcam in Canada looking at the snow & ice but now with a new HP PC she can't view the live feed... or to be more precise she can view it but the site won't load properly and displays a still image.
If the browser is refreshed the image updates but is a still image.
We can see the time-stamp so we know there is a snapshot of the video being taken but it won't update with the live feed.
I did read other posts about similar issues but can't seem to find an answer.
I have updated her Windows media player, uninstalled then re-installed both Flash & Shockwave to the latest versions but still the video won't play properly.
She can watch other live streaming videos but there just seems to be an issue with this one in particular.
I have tried the same webcam feed from other PCs in Canada and the UK with no issues.
She has an HP610-1010a Touchsmart with ATI Radeo HD5570 graphic card installed.
Can anyone suggest something else I may be overlooking...?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I tested on 5 machines: 1 HP laptop, 2 Dell laptops, 1 Apple and 1 Surface. I think we NEED NBN, my connection speed is not very fast but still reasonable but the machines took ages to just go to the first one. The second one was a bit faster but ONLY refresh frame when hit F5.

  • Streaming video issues

Does anyone know why the imac stops streaming video every 10 seconds?

Steam's having issues? At least in my area, Steam has absolutely no problem. Double check what download region you're pulling from (pick it not based on geography but based on where your data is ending up. For example, Toronto is closer to me than New York City is, but NYC is closer path-wise than Toronto) and make sure you're not bottlenecking on Disk I/O now that Steam doesn't use Cache files for the games.
As for YouTube and Netflix, I have no advice short of suggesting a VPN for these. Yeah it shouldn't be needed, but in the grand scheme of things neither Google or Verizon tells us where the problem is publicly. When the problem is either at the peering point or in Google's network, I'm led to believe it's a Google problem. For Netflix? Verizon doesn't have to contribute to Open Connect (in essence remaining a NEUTRAL provider) but it would be nice to have since Netflix would be paying for the equipment. Can't say so much for the bandwidth though.

  • Streaming video issue

How much of my physical memory should be used when streaming video? I have 4.00 GB of physical memory an 3.96 GB are being used.

Though we might guess, it would be good to have a bit of clarification.
Was the video added as "Slide Video" or using the "Insert FLV" command?
How did you set the Timing Property (Rest of Slide, Rest of Project, Rest of Video?)
Might there be another object playing on the same slide that has a Transistion set to "Fade In and Out" or "Fade Out"? The Fade Out can halt subsequent objects on the timeline.
Is it set to Autoplay or Loop?
    Was a particular "skin" applied?
Sometimes the term "streaming video" is used loosely. Which method did you use?
Progressive download via http:// (typical web server) delivery from a plain website
Streaming Video (where you have your own streaming video server (such as Flash Media Server). Usually the URL starts with rtmp://
Streaming Video Service (a third-party) service where you basically pay for someone to "host" the videos.
Will this Captivate movie be delivered as a module by Adobe Connect Professional?
Are you viewing the "real" published CP movie, or just previewing this locally?
What is the video format (.FLV, F4V, .MP4?) How was it encoded?
Sorry to be so inquisitive, but it may help us provide a better answer.

  • WRT54G -- can't DL streaming video

Hello, I'm having trouble downloading streaming video/audio and alos with larger files (200meg).  anytime I try to download one of these items, it downloads 30-40% of it and then stops.  Anyone know how I can fix this??  Thanks

Try disabling the firewalls on the computer and upgrade the firmware on the router to the latest one.

  • Streaming video issues i.e BBC iplayer and Youtube with Firmware 3.1.2

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me with a particular problem.I bitterly regret installing 3 as all it has done is added some shake and shuffle nonsense that I never use, and a voice memo thing that I never use. It has also slowed the boot up of the device and also where video streams from the above for example used to play without interruption, now i constantly have the device pause and have the play touch control come up, i press play and it will continue for a few seconds and then freeze again. It has got to the stage where using BBC iplayer and youtube has become frustrating and impossible and it only has started after version 3 firmware was installed. It is an Ipod Touch 2nd Gen bought in Jan this year. With version two the videos played consistently and smoothly. Why do I now have this problem and why do apple encouraged the use of update software that retards the performance of the device. What benefits does it have? Should I continue updating this device or can I ask apple to restore version 2 to the device which ran much better!

It's not the 3.x software per se, it's how it is interacting with your wireless network. If you haven't done so, download and install the latest firmware for your router and make sure your network is providing the speed and stability you need. Solve that and your YouTube problems will be less.

  • Streamed video issues?

I have a pretty new Ipad. So far there has been no issues but today all of a sudden streamed content from sites like Youtube and Youtoons.se started malfunctioning. The videos just won't play. Network connections are otherwise fine and the Safari browser has no problem reaching the sites or any other sites for that matter.
Youtube states an error occurred and "TV noise" instead of the video, Youtoons just shows a black box where the videos should be playing.
    Any ideas?

  • MacBook (2006) HDTV Secondary Display Issue (no streaming video)

I've searched the discussions as thoroughly as I could before posting. I do not have the same issues as many others connecting their Macs to HDTVs for primary or secondary display.
I recently bought a Sony Bravia (KDL-32EX710) and displays the desktop beautifully at 1080p with just the Mini-DVI to VGA cable. However, the only thing it does not display, without a workaround, is streaming video from websites like YouTube, various Gawker media sites and similar sites. For example, going to YouTube loads the entire page with playlists, comments and the audio comes through but nothing but a black box where the video should be (controls are also hidden).
To view videos, I have to drag the Safari window to the MacBook's display to start the video then move it back over to the secondary display to view it. Or, I have to enable the video to be viewed in fullscreen (usually by chance) to be able to see the video.
Watching videos from the local/network drives are fine. Watching streaming videos from Netflix are fine (via Safari). Does this seem like a Flash issue as the problem videos seem to depend on Flash?

  • NAT issue - WRT54G Version 1.1 with Vista Home Premium

    Router = WRT54G Version 1.1
I am trying to figure out the cause of my problems, this router or Vista?
I have 2 PC’s (just want to use my Vista 1) connected to the same router that is connected to a cable modem – the Windows XP machine has no problems bar its age and spec. I have a brand new PC with Vista Home Premium installed on it, now it is this new PC that I am having NAT problems with and port blocking.
I have installed Windows Live Messenger and when setting it up I went into Tools/Options/Connections and I get an error message:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. The Windows Firewall is enabled. (User)"
I have no option to run the trouble shooter (greyed out)…….
If I turn off Windows Vista Firewall I get:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. (User)”
Since this I have installed Media server software and have to reset the port it uses every time as it is always stating that it is blocked.
I have downloaded OpenOffice via a torrent client which also stated that I had NAT problems.
I have no NAT issues at all on my older XP PC and as a result I believe it is safe to rule out my router and modem……..I have only disabled Windows Firewall and this had made no difference, but I have not tried uninstalling it (no idea if that would make a difference)
Oh, I do not have UPnP enabled (router setting) – does this matter (I have tried turning it on but made no difference to this issue so I turned it off again)?

  • With latest version of Flashplayer - unable to download streaming video with realplayer

The latest version of Adobe flashplayer (11.5)  was loaded today (nov 9, 2012).  As a result, using either IE9 or Firefox, I was unable to download streaming videos using Realplayer, where it was set up by "Download the Video".  I had no trouble with Flashplayer 11.4, although I had the same problem with Flashplayer 11.3.

Good comments by Hicks. While I an not as anti-iMovie '08 as many others appear to be, I really agree with both his assessment of the product and some of his distribution ideas. However, rather than the simple 2-tier product recommendation he presented, I would personally like to see a renamed version of the current iMovie '08 product be distributed as a free application to users and keep all of the DV based editors as a part of the current 3-tier iLife (which can be purchased by users who wish more editing/plug-in compatibility at a moderate price but are not willing to invest the money or time to use of FCE), FCE "prosumer", and FCE/Studio true profession editing packages purchased according to individual user needs.
As we have seen in the past, innovations introduced by FCE frequently filter their way down to lower level software as enhancements over time. In addition, we have also seen a number of the new iMovie '08 developments being adapted to other applications as the means and processes are developed to do so. Frankly, I am curious to see where all these new innovations may lead given the opportunity for further development.

  • Need Help Streaming Video From Web Server Built Into Application - Linksys WRT54g Router

Very much appreciate any help getting streaming video feed from web server built into video application to work properly using port forwarding on my Linksys WRT54g wireless router.
    Here is the situation:
My PC is connected to the internet via a Linksys WRT54g wireless router.
The Windows XP Pro SP2 firewall is enabled, with a firewall exception established for the video camera application.
On the router, forwarding of port 80 is enabled for the LAN IP address of the PC running the video application with an embedded web server, and the web server in the video camera application is also set to use port 80.
I have a free DYNDNS account and also run the DYNDNS updater program on the PC running the video application with embedded web server. According to the DYNDNS web site and the DYNDNS updater program, the IP address assigned to the machine running the video application with embedded web server is set correctly in my dyndns account.
When I open a browser (Explorer or Firefox) on the PC running the video camera application with embedded web server, I am able to  connect to the video application's web server by going to the dyndns address linked to the machine running the video application. The video application's web server is set to use the dyndns address. That's the good news. The bad news is that I can't connect to the video application's web server from any machine that connects to the internet that uses a router other than the router used by the PC running the video application. I am only able to connect to the streaming video from the application's web server only on machines that connect to the internet using the same (home) router used by the PC that is running the video application.
Since I am able to connect to the video app's embedded web server successfully on the machine running the video application, it seems that at least something about the current port forwarding settings is correct. For example, if I uncheck 'enable' for forwarding of port 80 on the router settings page, I am no longer able to connect to the video app's web server when I try to do so in a browser running on the machine running the video app. When I re-enable port 80 forwarding on the router, I am again able to connect to the web server of the video application on the machine running the video app. I thought that by enabling forwarding of port 80 on the router and associating that port with the LAN IP of the machine running the video application, it would be possible to connect to the streaming video of the video app's embedded web server from ANY machine connected to the internet, but that is not the case. There must be some other router settings to update/change in order to get the port forwarding working to enable a successful connection to the video web server, but I am stumped. Very grateful for any suggestions as to how to get this working properly.
    Thanks in advance...

The firewall log can be configured on the third tab in the window for the firewall settings, where you can turn the firewall on and off completely.
From your tests, though, it does not seem to be the firewall. However, to be sure, it would be good to check the log. It will help to eliminate the firewall as the culprit and you may find it handy in the future, too. ;-) Just don't forget to turn the log off again after you are done because it may cause some performance penalty on your system while on.
From what you write, it seems as if I should give a little networking background on the ip addresses you'll see. Your setup is (or should be) a modem connected to the WAN/Internet port of the WRT. The computer is connected into a LAN port of the WRT.
Your router has two IP addresses (that's what makes it a router): a WAN address and a LAN address. The WAN address is the address assigned by the ISP. It is a normal internet IP address. Everyone is able to send packets to this IP address. The WAN address is the one reported by whatismyipaddress.com, it should be listed in the dyndns record and it is the address that your router shows on the Status page. It's the public IP address of your router. Dyndns maps your dyndns.org name to that IP address.
Your router also has an IP address on the LAN side. You can configure it to be whatever you want. The default is 192.168.1.1 with netmask 255.255.255.0 and it is better to leave it like that or at least inside the network 192.168.*.*. 192.168 is a special, reserved IP address range for private networks. Basically, routers in the internet are not supposed to forward addresses in this range. That makes them suitable for private LANs as the packets never can get anywhere. Most people using Linksys routers have there LAN in 192.168.1.*.
The router acts as gateway, which means it forwards packets from PCs in the LAN to the internet and back. As all your PCs in your LAN share a single WAN IP address, the gateway does address translation (NAT). This works only in one direction: from the inside to the outside. The router remembers when a PC in your LAN sends something out and accepts the responses in and sending them back to the PC. If something comes in from the internet which cannot be associated with a ongoing communication the packet is dropped unless you use port forwarding.
All computers in your LAN either have a static IP address assigned or use DHCP to get it automatically. The router has a DHCP server as well which gives out IP address from 192.168.1.100-149 if not changed. With a router with default settings static IP addresses can be in the range of 192.168.1.2-99 and 150-254.
ipconfig /all reports your IP address in your LAN, i.e. an address 192.168.1.*. The gateway in this output should be 192.168.1.1 which is your router. And packet no in the LAN address range 192.168.1.* is send to the router which forwards the packets into the internet.
An address 192.168.1.* should not appear as internet address in the Status page of the router nor should it appear at dyndns.
Port forwarding is used to operate a server in the LAN. By default, a server in the LAN cannot be reached from the internet. You have to configure port forwarding for this. You configure that traffic bound for a specific port (e.g. TCP port 80 for http) on your WAN IP address is forwarded to the same port on a specific LAN IP address. If your server runs on 192.168.1.50 than traffic to your WAN IP address port 80 is forwarded to 192.168.1.50 port 80. That way your HTTP server can be reached from the internet. As you can only configure a fixed IP address in port forwarding it is recommended that the server uses a static IP address and not DHCP as in the latter case the IP address may change over time...
O.K. so much for networking. I hope that makes things a little clearer and you can verify that your setup is how it is intended to be.
I suggest the following: on the router's security page there is an option to block WAN requests. Remove the check if it is set (meaning: do not block). After you did that change you should be able to ping your WAN address (e.g. ping xxxx.dyndns.org) from the internet. That way we know that it is on the correct address.
Also on the Administration page make sure that remote management is disabled (should be like that per default) or that the management port is NOT 80 but for example 8080. What is your your UPnP settings on the same page?
O.K. that should be enough for the moment...

  • Issue related to "Document Set Version History" option for Video uploaded in Asset library

    Hi,
When user clicks on ‘Document Set Version History’ option from context menu (ellipsis) of a particular video, ‘Sorry, something went wrong’ message is shown. The error message also says,
versions are currently disabled for this document library.
When we enabled version history for the video library, the functionality started working as expected.
Ideally the context menu of video should not show ‘Document Set Version History’ option. But we are not sure why it is showing that option.
Can anybody please explain, is it bug in sharepoint ? or any other approach we have to use.

    Hi Sanket,
We need to configure the send to connections for the corresponding web application in Central Administration and then the locations will be available when clicking the Send To Other Location.
Please go to Central Administration > General Application Settings > Configure send to connections.
After configuring the send to connections for the web application where you need to use the Send To Other Location, the location will be available.
