WRT54G wont connect with xbox 360

i had my main computer hooked up to the wrt54g with a cable and had a laptop on the wireless and the xbox hooked up on a cable also. im selling the main computer and using just the laptop and now the xbox wont connect with anything. its driving me insane. at one point i had it but the xbox lost it again and has not worked at all.
do i have to have the laptop hooked up to the wrt54g for the xbox to work? when the laptop is hooked to the cable it works and when i disconnect it stops working yet i could run my old pc and this laptop wireless and xbox still worked.
i uninstalled the linksys advisor program and reinstalled and finally said screw it and deleted it and now the laptop connects finally but still no xbox.

IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox
Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...

is there a reason iPhones won't connect with Xbox 360's like iPods did?

Because even though it plays mp3 and has ipod capabilites...it's a phone! Were you able to connect your previous cell phone to your Xbox?

  • WRT54GS Wont support Two XBOX 360s online at the same time

Just bought new Linksys WRT54GS to support two XBOX 360s live simultaneously.  Can't log both on at same time. It kicks first 360 off when second one tries to log on.  How can I fix this and have both NAT types open?

I'm having the same issue.  I have comcast as ISP, Linksys modem BEFCMU10 V3, going to a Linksys router WRT54GS V4, two desk tops hardwired to the router, TiVo with a wireless and two Xbox 360s with Xbox wireless adaptors.  Each Xbox 360 has a different Live account, one has mine the other has my daughters.  Either by itself goes live just fine but as soon as the second unit is brought on the first kicked off.  If left on they will take turns dropping off from Xbox Live.  One night we alternately texted/chatted from both of our Xboxs to the same third party.  When he had signed off for the night and showed be "offline" on my unit my daughters unit still showed him "online" until we shut her Xbox off.  In addition the NAT always seems to change.  Some times its open, others it's medium or strict.  This seems to be related to having one or both Xboxs on.  I found an article on segmenting your network by using two wireless routers and running the Xboxes through the router closest to the modem and everything else through the second down line router.  I haven't tried it yet.  Anything I'm missing?  Something else I should try?  I've talked to the Geeks and some tell you can't so it and others tell me sure it will but they want $$.  I've talked to other gamers that tell they've had two Xboxs on Live with no problem.

  • Router Wont connect my Xbox 360

Hey, I have a Cisco E2000 and I have multiple devises that work but not my xbox 360.
    I have
    2 computers
    2 iphone 4s
    2 ipods
    iphone 3gs
They all connect to the internet fine. My Xbox 360 never connected.
the xbox can connect to the router. Then the router cannot connect to the internet.
    Please help me!

You mentioned that the xbox can connect to the router. Is it connected wirelessly to the network or wired to the router? What excatly do you mean it won't connect? You are unable to connect to the network or to the internet? Is your concern with NAT? If it is already connected to the network then there is no problem with the router (as what you have posted other devices are working, it shows that router is working fine). You might need to forward ports in order for you to use or connect to xbox live. And if it still won't work with the router, connect your xbox directly to the modem and test your connection. If still not working, contact your service provider. But try the ports first.
You may check the link below:

  • WRT54G not connecting to XBOX 360.

Ok, my Xbox was working fine with my router since I got it, nearly 2 months ago. But just this last week I have not been able to pull an IP address from it, no matter what I try.
    It just gives me the error message;
"Your console was unable to negotiate a lease with your DHCP server. Make sure that addresses are available on your server."
I have 3 other devices running on my network, (PC, Wii, and Laptop) and they have no problem connecting. I do have the DHCP users set so enough can connect, and I'm running a wired connection. Power cycling everything hasn't helped yet, either.
I can't even get it to connect if I plug it in straight into the modem.. which as I understand should be pretty straight forward, but I just keep getting the same error. Could this mean something is wrong with Xbox?
    Any help would be appreciated!

I tried it with DMZ, it still failed.
Doing a manual setup fails the at IP Address test and gives me the message
"Your gateway did not respond to a network request."
Doing the automatic setup fails as well but gives the message
"Your console was unable to negotiate a lease with your DHCP server. Make sure that addresses are available on your server."
Interestingly enough, it DID pass the IP test a few with manual settings, but it failed on the DNS settings.
I don't know what to make of this.

  • WRT54GS V7.50 with XBox 360

Sorry guys i know you probably get fed up with all the 360 questions around here, but I have tried searching here and google (Someone will now find an answer to my Q! lol).
Anyway heres how my setup is.
    Modem into router
    Cable from Router to PC
Laptop connects wireless with built in wireless
Cable from laptop to Xbox 360 and share net connection.
Now, it all connects fine, I signed up to LIVE bla bla.
Did a test everything looked fine, NAT even said OPEN. Mate send me a request to play Halo3 and says I cant connect and mentions NAT. Tried all sorts of different guides. One told me to give the xbox an IP manually, but then it just doesnt connect, do a test and gives an error when it comes to "IP".
Now the IP it gives automatically is 192.168.0.xxx
Yet all my other IPS, and when using port foward etc on my router, i dont have the option to use a IP that end 0.xx there all 1.xx?
Is this because I'm connecting through the laptop?
http://www.ianarchbold.com/xboxlive/ <---- this is one of the guides I tried to follow
    Cheers for any help.

Conenct your xbox directly to the router then it will work fine. The ip 0.xx is because your xbox is connected to the lap top.

  • Airport extreme connecting with xbox 360 wireless adapter problems...help!!

Has anyone linked their xbox 360 wireless adapter to an Airport Extreme? I need help! Neither Apple nor Microsoft knew how to link the two devices. If anyone has successfully been able to make this work, your help will be much appreciated. Thanks guys

Yes - Mine works no problem. I have found that I have to unplug the Xbox360 wireless adaptor and plug it back in occasionally (if the green light is on everything is fine). Are you using the correct WPA Key?

  • Sharing Connection with XBOX 360.

Here's what I want to do: Get xbox live working without buying a wireless adapter.
Here's how I'm connected: My laptop is connected wirelessly through Airport. I have my xBox plugged into my laptop. After I plugged in the cable to my laptop, here's what I did:
Went to system pref. > sharing. Share my connection from: Airport to computer using Built in Ethernet. Then I 'started' this sharing. When I went to check my xbox network settings, the IP address failed.
What am I doing wrong, here? I searched the forums for the answer, and I figured that was all I had to do, but apparently not? What else should I do to get my xbox to receive internet / an IP address?
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi
It requires manual setup, for some reason OS X can't provide the XBOX an IP automatically.
Setup Mac OS X Ethernet to a manual address i.e. 10.0.0.1. Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0. Leave the Gateway / Router, DNS, ... empty
Setup the XBOX manually. Go to the Dashboard and move the the System tab-->Network Settings-->Edit Settings. Make the IP manual i.e. 10.0.0.2, Subnet 255.255.255.0, and the Gateway / Router 10.0.0.1. For DNS settings, most use the router's IP address, i.e. 192.168.2.1, but you can also use your ISP's DNS if you can find out what it is.
Now, make sure Internet Sharing is started and setup to share your Airport connection to Ethernet.
NOTE: You can find your router's IP by going to the TCP/IP tab of the Airport network settings.

  • Linksys WRT54G compatible with XBOX 360's Wireless Network Adapter?

Is the Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router (WRT54G) compatible with XBOX 360's Wireless Network Adapter?

Use the LAN port and cable. That way you'll get no interference and great data transfer. Or this maybe helps. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/homenetworking/equipment.htm

  • Can I use the mini displayport to vga adaptor with the xbox vga cable to connect my xbox 360 to my macbook pro?

I'm trying to find a way to connect my xbox 360 to my mackbook pro. I've searched the internet and found that I can use a eagle eye device but, its to expensive. So after looking at the xbox website, I found a vga adaptor for my xbox and an vga to mini displayport and I was wondering if this would work.

The minidisplay port is output only. It's not going to show anything from your xbox.

  • Unsure about connecting my Xbox 360 to soundcard

I have searched this forum and looked at the stickies to determine if this is possible before posting but am a little confused so I decided to ask for clarification...
I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Professional Series installed in my PC
I am considering purchasing the Sound Blaster Digital I/O module
Is it possible to get 5. surround from my PC speakers if I connect my Xbox 360 to this setup using the Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable?
Are there any downsides to doing so? Sound lag, skips, etc?

I don't really know.. I got a Auzentech Prelude with SPDIF (supporting optical) input and output and even after Dolby Li've or DTS is activated on my system I get no sound whatsoever if I activate Dolby Digital on my Xbox360?
Is it supposed to be like that? No sound when running Dolby Digital through a optical cable to my Auzentech Prelude?
Dolby Stereo works, but then again I guess it wont really utilize my 7. speaker setup at all?
Or does the sound card upmix to 7. or something, even when running Dolby Stereo on the Xbox360?
No sound at all if I select Dolby Digital or that Dolby Digital WMA thing.. I thought Auzentech Prelude supported both Dolby Digital and that WMA thing?
At least the SPDIF / Optical output does?

  • Hi been trying to  connect my xbox 360 online  and i am h...

Hi been trying to  connect my xbox 360 online  and i am having major problems  my router is a WRT54GS v.6 i have the newest firmware also i also use a  linksys  wireless adapter for my pc  i am connecting my 360 to my pc and doing internet connection sharing  i can get a ip address this way but not a dns  if i have ics off i do not get a ip address i have tried everything  opening ports on my  router for the 360 and still nothen  i am about to  break my router and get a differnt one. me need helps.

Yes, you have the ports connected backwards.
The WAN port is labelled with the "circle of dots" icon, and must be connected to your DSL modem.
The LAN port is labelled with the "double-headed arrow" icon, and that is where you connect ethernet cabled devices on your LAN.
See Apple's article AirPort Base Station: About the WAN and LAN Ports
What is surprising is that you haven't previously run into all sorts of problems with your existing setup. Once you cable things properly, you will likely have to power down your DSL modem and Base Station for a while (sometimes just an instant, sometimes overnight). After waiting, plug the modem into power and wait a minute. Then plug the base station into power and wait for it to restart.

  • Wrt54GS router and Wrt54GS wireless adapter on Xbox 360

Totally new in the wireless router business, I bought the Wrt54GS router and the Wrt54GS adapter to connect my Xbox 360.
I installed the router with the cd and connected my pc on the router with a fixed ethernet cable.
    So far everything working fine.
Then connected the wireless adapter on the Xbox 360, but it seems like the Xbox 360 doesn't recognise the Wrt54GS adapter.
    What did i do wrong?
    Sebastian

Do you have wireless PC's ? are they able to go online ?
enable network security and also change the beacon to 50 and the RTS and fragmentation threshold by 40 each under the advanced wireless settings.
