WRT54G2 Installing Router

I AM RECEIVING A ERROR MESSAGE THAT READS "ETHERNET CABLE NOT CONNECTED".  THE CABLES ARE CONNECTED WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Possibly the setup is not getting the NIC card... so lower down the card speed from Auto to 10 Half Duplex ...

  • How setup a WRT54G2 Wireless Router to connect to a SmartPhone to Retrieve E-Mail

I have a new WRT54G2 Wireless Router and I can Surf the Web on my Smartphone via the Router but I am unable to retieve my E-Mail like I used to do with my old Wireless Router.
Anyone know what setting I need to change on the WRT54G2 Wireless Router?

    Hi Richard,
    Welcome to the community forum!
Did you check the mail setup in your smartphone to see if anything changed? Check if the incoming and outgoing mail servers are correct.
A software update might have reset the settings.
If all looks good in the smartphone mail setup, do you recall if you had to open ports in the old router to make email work?

  • How to install Route 66 navigation software on N95...

I am trying to install Route 66 Mobile 7 Benelux navigation software on my N95. The software manufacturer has given me the instructions below, but this still has not worked. I cannot see the Rooute 66 Icon in the phone. Can someone help? Thanks
The installation of the ROUTE 66 Mobile 7 software on Nokia N95 should be done manually as follows:
    1) Connect the Nokia N95to your PC via connection cable.
    2) On the screen of the phone the following choices will display:
    - Media player
    - PC suite
    - Mass Storage
    3) Choose " Mass Storage"
    4) The phone will appear as an "external HDD" on your computer.
    5) Run ROUTE 66 Mobile 7.
6 Select the "Browse content" option and then select and open "MultiMediaCardImage” folder.
    7) Copy the content of the folder from the Mobile 7 CD/DVD to the N95 HDD.
    8) When copying is finished, you will find the R66 Mobile 7 icon in on the Nokia N95.
In order to work with the internal GPS, follow the instructions bellow:
Please check the version of ROUTE 66 Mobile 7 that you currently have. Launch Mobile 7 and select Options->View->About Mobile. The version information is displayed in the header and in the About text.
If the version is 7.3.545 (for S60 3rd edition devices), you are already up to date! If the version is 7.3, or 7.3.x where x is a number less than 545 (for S60 3rd edition devices), download the update file available under the link at the bottom of the page.
    http://www.66.com/route66/support.php?cid=UK&sec=1&ssec=4
Please after the installation of the update the application can not be launched due to errors, we advise you to hard reset the phone as follows:
    - type *#7370# , password 12345; be aware that by hard-resetting the phone you will lose all the changes done since the first use of the phone (contacts, messages, settings).
However, note you can make a backup of the phone settings via Nokia suite on your PC.

    Hello khanw
No this is not working for me. But it seems like your MultiMediaCardImage” has many more folders and files that what I have. As I look on the installation disc, I only see System. I thought that maybe it was because the others were hidden files & folders, but I've checked and my folder settings are supposed to show these hidden files. So I have the feeling that I'm stuck. I sent a follow up e-mail to Route 66, and the only thing that they could do is repeat the original instructions. I wonder why your CD has many more files on it than mine does????
Maybe there is someone else in the forum that can help??

  • I can't connect to server after installing router (WRT54G2)

Anyone please help. I can't seem to connect to the server, 192.168.1.1 after installing the router. Prior to installation it worked fine. Weird thing is I can connect to the internet through the router and stuff, just can't access the server. Help... thanks

First of all check the physical connection....From modem to the router on internet port and from the computer to the router on ethernet port1...Power light shoul be solid and there should be wlan, internet and ethernet port1 light.
Now check for the ip address...Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway... IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...
If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer...
If you are not getting the correct ip address then, Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Hooking up/configuring a WRT54G2 wireless router to my wired modem/router.

Problem description: I have bought a wireless router (Linksys WRT54G2) in order to connect it to my ADSL2+ modem/router (a TP-Link TD8840) to provide wireless internet access to my iPhone and laptop. I only intend to power on the wireless router when I need it, not have it on all the time wasting electricity.
Attempted fixes: Configuring the WRT54G2 per the install CD, but this appears to mean I must have my wireless router always powered on in order to access the internet even when I'm not using the wireless. Ideally I just want to turn on the wireless router as and when I need it.
Operating system: Windows XP Pro (32-bit) SP3.
So, as my description says, I bought a WRT54G2 so I can browse the web on my iPhone using my DSL connection rather than the cellular (3G) network. I currently have the WRT54G2 plugged in from one of its four ethernet ports to an ethernet port on my wired modem/router. The IP of my modem/router is 192.168.1.1, which also appears to be the default ip for the WRT54G2 So I can't access my WRT54G2's admin screen to properly set up the network.
At this point I feel as if I should reset the WRT54G2 to factory settings and start from scratch, but I lack a coherent set of instructions to point me on my way. It's a bit frustrating because I'm pretty good with computers generally, but networking obviously is not my thing. Can anyone please help

    Hi modeski,
To setup your WRT54G2 router and make it work with your modem/router there, chnage first the IP of the WRT54G2 from  192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 before you connect it to the modem/router.
In other words, you are cascading two routers.
    Hope this help!

  • WRT54G2 - Allow router to connect to wireless network wirelessly

    Setup:
WRT54G connected to DSL modem in one room. The desktop is in another room about 15 feet away but receives weak signal.  The WRT54G2 is wired to the desktop.
I want to get my desktop to connect to the internet by the 54G2. I have been looking around everywhere and every thing says inorder to get cascading routers, you have to connect the routers together with an ethernet cable.  Is there a way to do this without wiring the routers together i.e., wirelessly?
Each router has a different IP address and the secondary one (the 54G2) has its DHCP server disabled.
    Thanks.

It is not possible with the linksys firmware installed in it.However, you may try installing the dd-wrt firmware which has such feature to make your router work as an wireless access point. You can check www.dd-wrt.com
Note-Installing the 3rt part firmware will void the warranty period of your router.

  • WRT54G2 Install Error(Different Please READ!)

So I have a WRT54G2 router that doesn't install correctly.
I have installed it once before but I moved and I was given a new router/modem that I was heavily unsatisfied with and so I want to switch it for my WRT54G2 but the error 322 pops up after failing to detect the router. The router is on and I can access the router page, buut the error is there no matter what. I have tried with different ethernet cables, different steps, resetting the router and modem, restarting the computer and installing it again but nothing fixes it. I am installing it with the CD that came with it, on a desktop like it's supposed to be!
    Additional Details:
    >Desktop is Windows XP, and there are 2 laptops with Windows 7
    >Router is WRT54G2 Version 1, the router given by my new ISP is a Thompson TG585v8
    >ISP is Telmex Infinitum(Mexico)
    >DSL cable connection, network is PPPoE and I know the username and password for those.

A few other suggestions if you continue to have trouble. Some DSL modems actually do the PPoE rather than the router. If this is the case, change the router's Internet Connection Type to Automatic (DHCP) so the router pulls an IP address from the DSL modem and then configure the modem (see the modem's administration page) with the PPoE username/login name and the password. Further, sometimes the modem will hand out an IP address (192.168.1.1) to the router's WAN/Internet port that conflicts with the IP address the router uses for its local network DHCP server. If this conflict happens, changing the router's local network IP address to 192.168.2.1 should solve the problem. Note: If the router's local network IP address is changed that becomes the new IP address to access the router's administration pages.

  • Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless Router

Is there any reason why a cat 5e ethernet cable will not work with the subject router?
Another way of asking the question, does the cable transmission speed have to be compatible with any "speed" limit associated with this router?

Hi raedell. CAT 5e or Category 5e cable, according to some networking sites, provides performance of up to 100 MHz and is suitable for 10Base-T, 100Base-TX (Fast Ethernet) and 1000Base-T (Gigabit Ethernet). Your speed depends on how much speed your ISP gave you. It will only depends on the router you'll connect your computer to the said router using an Ethernet cable. Say for example, if your ISP gave you fast internet connection speed and your computer has a Gigabit LAN card but you're using WRT54G2. What will happen is that, you can't take advantage of the fast Gigabit speed since router can only provide maximum of 100Mbps wired connection speed. However, if your router is properly configured, then using CAT 5e cable to the said router, should work.

  • Blue Box Question Marks  Since Installing Router

    Hello,
Since installing a new Dlink 655 router, I have not been able to view my favorite websites. Most pictures are just blue boxes. A lot of pages won't come up in safari. I have tried to upgrade adobe and fix my permissions, but really haven't had much luck. Any ideas would be great!

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
If you are running 10.5.4 as your profile indicates, you need to bring system software up to date to 10.5.8. Use the v10.5.8 Combo Update
Regarding Adobe Flash. You need to uninstall the old version then reinstall new but make sure you update to 10.5.8 first.
    Uninstall Flash
    Install Flash
    Then repair disk permissions...
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
    Relaunch Safari.

I have already installed my Solaris 10 Server, I was

!! this file does not exists!!
How install routings in Solaris 10 6/06 ??It depends on what your routing script does. Solaris 10 introduces persistent routing, so you may just need to add the route once (persistently), then let the system take care of it.

  • Re-installed router software - can't change password!

I had to format my HD so I re-installed my linksys WRT54g wireless router and used the installation disk.
at the end it says to put in my password. I put in every combination of password I could think of, but it keep going back and asking me again. so I finally gave up and then installed the USB adaptor to my laptop.
Now I did indeed get the router to connect to the laptop, but there seems to be no security on it. It says 'disabled' when it searches for routers. I live in a crowded apartment complex and I know my connection will get hijacked if I don't change this.
Can someone please tell me what I need to do to secure this? thanks!

    Sir,
Are you able to go Online with the Computer, when it's directly
plugged into the Router, now ?
    If the answer is yes,
We could finish it with ease in a minute or two . . .

  • Unable to install routing agent on Exchange 2010

    Hi,
I am trying to install a Routing Agent(C#)compiled in VS2010(I tried for Target version NET 3.5 and for Target version NET 4.0) against an Exchange 2010 SP2 environment but receives this error:
"Could not load file or assembly 'file:///D:\EXCH\Public\TransportAgent2010.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

I copied Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Common.dll and Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Transport.dll from server machine to my build machine. I referenced these 2 dlls in my project. As I already mentioned I built agent dll for Target version NET 3.5 and for Target version
NET 4.0. I build it with "Release" and "Any CPU" configuration.
Exchange machine OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1  64 bit.
On the Exchange machine installed NET Framework 4 Extended and NET Framework 4 Client Profile.
    Thanks in advance,

  • HP Officejet 8610 won't Fax after Xfinity installed router?

So, my printer has been working fine, up until Xfinity installed a new router.  Since this router was installed, I have not been able to Fax.  I have plugged phones into the phone lines, and they work from the wall.   I'm a technician and have checked the Windows 7 64 bit OS, virus's, etc. to isolate software from hardware issues.  I have unloaded and uninstalled all installed drivers, rebooted, and reinstalled again with latest drivers, that didn't designate 32 bit vs. 64 bit drivers.  Nothing has worked.  I will now describe the line setup from wall to Xfinity Router.  Not sure whether 2-wire phone cord from wall, to an in - out buffer.  A 2 in. piece of wire between next buffer. Another line from the out of the 2nd buffer into the Xfinity router.  That is the input.  The output from the router goes to the back of my All in One Printer.  I have troubleshot what I could check from the enclosed troubleshooting document, and no resolution.  I saw something on a forum, with Comcast routers, you need to run 2 wire phone lines, or there may be intermittent issues where the Fax could work, then not work?  It hasn't worked since the Xfinity router was installed.  This is a single line directly to the Router.   The Fax machine has it's own designated number, but there is phone and answering machine/voicemail upstairs.  I believe they are separate lines.  This All - in -One worked fine, until Comcast upgraded the Router.  This is my Uncle's PC, so have no idea if the phone lines are 2 wire or not.  Hate to go change everything with no resolution.  Is there a way to internally run a Fax test?  I ran diags through the hardware, and everything PASSED.  Also, running USB cable, not Wireless.  Please help.  Thank you!
    Steven_23

More Info.  The Xfinity Router is an Xfinity Arris TG 862.  Reset Router, after unplugging and replugging in all input and output phone wires.  Did notice input had 4 wires, and output had 2 to Fax.   Additional weirdness, it receives Faxes, but can't send any out?   Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

  • ICM7 Install - RouterA process on RoggerB

I'm having an issue for an ICM upgrade from 6 through 7.0c SR4 to 7.5.x. As part of the upgrade process a RoggerA and RoggerB are built based on ICM7.0c using an EDMT import of the 6.0 database and a copyof the ICM registry key tree from each respective source Rogger i.e. apply RoggerA 6.0 registry tree to new tech refresh RoggerA 7.0 and apply RoggerB 6.0 registry tree to RoggerB 7.0. This is the process described in the upgrade guide.
However, when RoggerB is installed and rebooted after the ICM7.0c install, it attempts to run both RouterB AND RouterA on the same server. It suddenly seems to think it is now RouterA as well as RouterB. The registry now shows a new tree for RouterA, icmsetup shows RouterA and the process attempt to run RouterA. The real RouterA has already been installed, is running and is connected via bopth public and private network.
I've trawled the release notes for ICM 7.0c through to SR4 but can't see a mention of this issue which would be a pretty major problem.
We have fixed the issue by deleting the RouterA registry tree before rebooting the server and also deleting the entry via icmsetup, which should mean we can then move on to upgrade to ICM7.5. However, I'm concerned that this isn't a good starting point for a new 7.5 build so would like to understand why this issue is occuring.
Is there a patch that I am missing here?
    Jed

Thought it worth a follow up on this.
The custonmer has been running fine with the fix process they went through, however I still wanted to understand why this happened. After some TAC assistance they pointed me at the following bug which is exactly this issue ... dman annoying that I couldn't find this bug with standard search terms.
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCsh70013
At least the problem is understood and I know the ICM build is fine to work from,
