  • More ports to forward

I have a linksys WRT54GS wireless router which is working splendidly. However I play a *lot* of video games and I like to host games when playing all of these games. So, naturally, I have to forward a couple ports because not everything works happily together when hosting. I have no problems with that, I got my computer on a static IP address and all of the games I've set my router up for work just fine.
Problem is there simply aren't enough places for me to specify all the ports I want to forward. Obviously I don't want to include ports I don't need forwarded so I don't want to skip over ones I don't need. But 10 slots isn't enough... Battlefield Vietnam takes up 7 on its own. Is there any way to include more ports I want to forward?

Man, oh man, I could use more than 10 port forwarding lines!  Would Linksys possibly consider increasing this to 20 in a subsequent firmware upgrade? 20 would probably be the most I would ever need.
I'm not comfortable using 3rd-party firmware upgrades on my router...
Thanks a lot for your consideration.

  • WRT54GC How to make more port range forwarding fields?

Hello I only have 15 port forwarding fields to enter all my programs and it is not enough since I have two pcs accessing the router getting two different ips for each one. Each aplicattion needs two forwards one for 192.168.1.100 the other for 192.168.1.101. How can I add more fields? thanks a lot

hi , this is a product limitation that you cannot add more than 15 entries.....what you can try though , is to "trigger" the ports instead of forwarding them....triggering does not require you to specify an IP address....the port will open for whichever PC makes the request from within the network...

  • WRT54G2 V1 Port 80 forwarding

    Hi,
I have a WRTG542 Firmware version 1.1.04 (Build 5) . Is forwarding on port 80 possible with this router?
    Here's what i have:
    1. Remote administration disabled.
    2. Port Forwarding set up for port 80 to 192.168.2.2
I can access  port 80 on 192.168.2.2 internally (from other computers on my network) but not from outside the network.
I also have ports 21, 5800, 5900 and 8080 set up for forwarding to 192.168.2.2 and they all work fine (internally and externally).
Any thoughts as to why this doesn't work?
    Thanks

By Default Port 80 is used by your Router interface. If you try to Forward the Port 80 on your Router for the IP address it will not work. May be you can try using a different Port for your Application and that should fix your problem.

  • More Port Forwarding Options

    I have a WRT300N.
I have used up all the single port forwarding options.
I have used up all the port range forwarding options.
What is left, i still need more options.
Is there a way to expand the amount of port forwarding options?

Wich version of the 300N? DD-WRT firmware is supported on V1 with V2 support as a work-in-progress. The firmware allows a much larger number of port forwarding entries to be configured.

  • WRT54GL Port Range Forwarding?

Hi. In Port Range Forwarding there are only 10 lines (konfigurating 10 diff. ports). What if you need to forward more ports than 10?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Install 3rd party firmware like dd-wrt or tomato.
Of course, you shouldn't need so many forwardings to begin with.

  • Port Range Forwarding on E1000

Ports selected to forward in the the 'Port Range Forwarding' page do not forward.    They do however forward properly from the 'Single Port Forwarding' page.
    Help?

    to re-iterate again ..
recent changes made to 'Single Port Forwarding' work .. but changes (as well as existing) on 'Port Range Forwarding' just dont forward.

  • What's safer: Port range forwarding or Upap?

    Hello there,
I recently replaced my router and since then have been unable to get video and audio chats to work. I get the "XXXXX did not respond" message. Text chat is fine. By what I have read in this forum, my problem has to do with port settings on my new router, a Linksys wrt54gx2.
My question is this; is it safer/more secure to use port range forwarding or the universal plug and play option? Do I need both?
The Mac OS X firewall settings are currently off.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    John

    HI John,
This is not a suitable device for iChat for some reason.
This page is for the WRT54GX (not the GX2)
This shows the Port Forwarding for this device (and the default IP and User ID and Password).
You should not use Port Forwarding and UPnP together.
The UPnP setting in in the Admistration tab.
Port Forwarding uses NAT (Network Adress Translation) and this can cause problems between some devices.
UPnP does Broadcast that is available but is normally limited to a few Hops.
In most device this can be limited to just one hop if you require.

  • DMZ v. Port Range Forwarding????

Ok,  DMZ opens all ports. But I was wondering if port range forwarding might be better. Once again I am still trying to eliminate lag with my 360. I enabled the port forwarding for the ports specified by the 360. I also blew all ports wide open with DMZ. Is it better to just port forward without DMZ? I don't care about the security issues. I just want speed. I already disabled all firewall features of the router. My PC is locked up tight and I'm not worried about it. The ports I forwarded are 88 TCP and 3074 Both. Is there something I'm missing here? I'm running a 5 meg connection. It's faster than my old DSL connection. I even found a website that told me to change my IP manually on 360 which I have done and it worked to open my NAT. Any gamers please help. Again I'm not trying to do anything to my PC. That connection is fine. Just need to tweak more upload with less lag to 360.

ok.......How do I use them? Triggered Range start port? to end port? Forwarded Range start point? to end point? Would it be the same forwarded ports? do I put the same port # in all for areas? I'm working with WRT54GS ver. 6

  • Is WRT54G v5 'Port Range Forward' mean the same as NAT ?

    Dear all:
    As title said.
    Do I missunderstand anything?
I would like to sent magic packet pass through WRt54G, thus I would like to set port forward.
    Could anyone help ?
    I thank you in advance.
    Best Regards
    chen min

NAT represent network address translation as well.
I think WRT54G supports WOL except WOW directly.
I try to sent magic packet pass through WRT54G. And according of log information, It did passed through WRT54 on the port which I assigned.
I think it would be possible if boardcasting IP was allowed in Port Range Forward.
I kept looking for more information from forum.
    Best Regards

  • E3200: add extra ports to forward

Hi,Is it possible to add more than 20 rules for port forwarding? The "Single port forwarding" tab allows only 20 rules. The router is used in office and we have a few virtual machines behind NAT. That VMs we need to acess from outside LAN and moreover, we need to forward not just one port to each VM but at least 3 ports to at least 7 VMs. The limit of 15 custom rules and 5 fixed rules is not enough. Kind regards,Laredo

Hi Laredo. I guess there's no option for you add more than 20 rules since it's a product design, but you may get some ideas from this link: Add more port forwarding slots? WRT300N V1.1

  • How Open More Ports into Mapping section...

    Hi all..!
In the Mapping section it is only possible to open/access a certain number of ports... How can I open more ports or all if I wanted to?
    Thanks for help...

If you want to map more than twenty ports, you need to use the Base Station's "default host" or "DMZ" feature. It is designed to forward inbound traffic on ALL ports to the private IP address of one computer on your LAN.
See also the article How do I use port mapping?

  • How do I add more ports to my new Airport Extreme?

How do I add more ports to my new Airport Extreme?  What do I need to buy?

Thinking to leave as is for now-  one 2013 extreme.
That would certainly keep things a lot simpler.
Does it seem right that using speed test I'm getting similar speeds, no matter if I'm connected via wi-fi, or Ethernet?
A very good sign assuming those speeds are reasonably close to the your plan offered by your ISP. The Extreme itself is capable of much faster speeds than your ISP can ever hope to provide.
I'm thinking that all the speed in the world is not going to change Time Warner Cable, the provider for earthlink cable
Not sure what you mean here. Time Warner provides various plans, some up to 50 Mbps. I get 60+ consistently with this plan.  I had a 30 Mpbs plan before that consistently delivered about 35-36 Mbps.
The math is simple. If you download a lot of files from the Internet, a 50 Mbps connection is going to take half as long to download a file as a 25 Mbps connection, for example.
One word of caution though....if you try a higher speed plan...plan to stay, as you will never go back to slower speeds once you have sampled higher speeds. Comcast now owns Time Warner by the way. I don't know whether that will be a good thing or a bad thing.

  • One or more ports used by the Compute Emulator are currently used by other processes

    Environment:
    VS 2012 Professional
    Azure SDK October 2012
    Windows 8
I lost the last few days of my life struggling with a weird issue in the emulator. I just ran out of options and I would really appreciate if someone could help me figure out what's wrong.
I am trying to debug a service package from Visual Studio 2012. It's really just about any package -- even the ones generated from a Windows Azure Cloud Service VS template. Any. The VS debugger starts, and in parallel there's "Starting the Windows Azure Debugging
Environment" dialog which shows "Deploying service package to the Windows Azure compute emulator..." message.
The progress bar shown in the dialog gets stuck for a long time (possibly even for an hour or longer!) at some 60% and then the following error message is shown:
"One or more ports used by the Compute Emulator are currently used by other processes. To resolve this, please see MSDN documentation at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh472164.aspx"
There doesn't seem to be anything else listening on the ports mentioned on the above MSDN page. I did nevertheless try to re-map devfabric and agent ports by specifying different values in the .config files mentioned on the page, but that did not help.
What I also tried and did not help:
    - reinstalled SDK, IIS Express, Local DB
    - reinstalled VS 2012 (yes, I got that desperate)
    - tried using IIS instead
    - used SysInternals TcpView to check if there are any conflicts
    - rebooted the machine: the deployment works initially (*once*), and the subsequent deployments fail (!)
    - tried to kill all Azure-related processes in memory and restart debugging
    - tried looking into log files under the user directory (dftmp\...); no errors in *any* log
    - tried looking into Event Viewer logs (Azure-related and in general); no errors either
Since the conflict seems to be related to my current network settings, below is my IP
configuration. I am behind a router and I have DHCP activated, but again that should not matter since none of that has changed in the last few years (and the emulator did work until few days ago).

    Hi,
Unfortunately I already tried all kinds of re-installs (the full list is in my original message). The only one remaining is the reinstall of Windows 8 itself, which I would really like to avoid.
What I find really strange is the time it takes for the above error message to appear. It's like one hour or even more (never measured exactly, I left the computer running).
What kind of a timeout is that? I would expect that, if ports are really used by some other application, I get the message in less than a minute (seconds, actually). To me this looks like the emulator itself for some reason believes there's a problem with
some port while in reality there isn't.
I'll eventually contact Microsoft Support, thanks for the suggestion.
