WRT54G2 won't install on MacBook

I bought a WRT54G2 to work with my daughter's MacBook. I could not get it to install. The disk would not autorun the setup.exe. When I manually launched the setup.exe file all it did was open in a wordprocessor application. The MacBook is running the Leopard OS (version 10.5 I think). Has anoyone had this issue?
Thanks and have a happy new year,
RFTEJerry

Don't worry as you don't need the set-up disk because you can install your router manually...Are you trying to install the router for the first time...If YES :

  • Photoshop CS2 won't install on MacBook Pro (Core2Duo)

I made the mistake of letting my new MacBook Pro copy the files and applications from my PowerBook G4 last night, and Photoshop failed to copy. I figured that was no big deal as I was purchasing another license for the new system anyway. Now that I've tried to install the new software, the install repeatedly fails.
I've followed the tech information from Adobe and removed the old photoshop files/directories from the new system, and then attempted the install again. It fails each time before installing bridge.
Has anyone else figured out how to get CS2 to install on the latest MacBook Pro systems? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Samuel, this won't help you, but it may help some others.
I had CS2 installed on my good old TiBook 400MHz, and it worked fine there. When I got my new MBP C2D 2.33 yesterday, I followed the instructions for connecting via FireWire, and after 2 hours, everything copied over just fine. So far, everything works fine too, which is really amazing to me, including the Adobe CS2 applications.
I did make sure that my old TiBook was up-to-date, and ran Mac Janitor on it, and fixed permissions. That may have made the difference.
The only things which don't run now are the old OS9 applications, and Final Cut Express 3.0 (but there is a work-around using the esc key).
Hope this is encouraging to someone who is thinking about gettig a MBP C2D.

  • Logic pro won't install on macbook pro

I have Logic Studio 9.1.5 working on my iMac i7 under OS X 6.8.  It is an upgrade of an upgrade, etc going back to V 5.5.  I have the original Emagic key from Logic 5.5.  My recollection is that I had to use this to install the Logic Studio upgrade to get Logic Pro 8, but that when I upgraded to V9, the key was not necessary.
I'll be visiting some remote sites for recording later this fall, and decided to move Logic to my MacBook Pro for the trip. It came with Lion.  I installed the minimal setup from the Logic Studio package to get Logic Pro 9 on the MBP. It asked me for the serial number and to insert the EMagic key at the start of the install process.  Once installed, it would not launch under Lion so I installed the 9.1.5 update.  When I tried to launch after this update, Logic started up, but I was asked for the serial number and Emagic key again.  This time, it reported that my key is not elegible for this upgrade.  Makes no sense, given I had this running with no probllem on the iMac.
Have there been any other steps required to install under Lion?  Is there anything else anyone can suggest to look into?

  • Mountain lion won't install on macbook pro 3,1

We have a MacBook Pro  version 3,1 computer with 10.6.8 running.
Plenty of disc left, 2 Gb RAM.
The install process goes in a loop, from app store to www.apple.com/osx to pushing the "upgrade" button and back to the app store page.
I'm not really a Mac kind of person, it can tell.
I ran a hard disk utility to check and correct permissions but it didn't help.
any thoughts out there?  I just want to run lightroom 5 and it needs 10.7 or better.
    Can I buy 10.7 someplace?
    Thanks
    Darrell

    Hello darrellsmith,
While i currently have no solution or suggestion for your problem, i would like to mention that even though Mountain Lion technically supports your model MacBook Pro, i advise against upgrading to mountain lion. It will put significant strain on your system resources and most tasks will perform very slow. If you really do need Mountain Lion, at least upgrade your RAM to 4GB. I know that 2GB is the minimum requirements but you'll lose those 2GB by just booting up and starting Safari. Add the software you want to use on top of that and your performance will be severely impacted.
Also, make sure you have a good backup of all your data. Upgrading an older system and skipping a major release in the process can create some issues or bring issues to light that you already had but just were not aware of.
A possible solution could be to create a bootable installer on an external drive, instructions can be found here.
For your system, OS X 10.6.8 would be the recommended OS and will give the smoothest performance. You will, as you've noticed, be limited to the applications you can run.

  • Photoshop CS2 won't install on MacBook Pro, 10.4.6

I have a 15 inch, 2.0 ghz MacBook Pro running 10.4.6. At this point I have installed all of the current Apple software updates.
I'm trying to install Photoshop CS2 and the installer hangs up and freezes the entire screen (although I can move the mouse) at the very beginning of the installation. The installer reads "Running Installation Script". The only way out is to do a hard reboot.
I've searched this forum and the Adobe forum and can't find any work arounds. On the Adobe forum it was suggested to do a clean install of OS X and it should work. I'd like to avoid that because of the time and possible loss of data.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

Yup ... same for me. Both PS and Common Files are greyed out and I can't uncheck anything.
Also, I did verify the disk permissions; created a different account; and even booted in Safe Mode.
It looks like Adobe is using the "we don't support Intel Macs yet" line so any fix for this may need to come from Apple.
I do have PS 7 running (I didn't install it on the MacBook, it ported over from my old machine when I set the new machine up) so I'm not completely dead. Sure wish I could use Adobe Bridge though.
EDIT: I just found this on the Adobe forum:
"Apprently there are some problems with the QT7.1 update.
Unfortunately, the only solution is to reinstall your OS and then install every update other than QT7.1. "

  • CS5 InDesign won't install on MacBook Pro

    Hi,
I've attempted 2x now to install InDesign via my CS5 installation discs on my MacBook Pro, and everything except InDesign loads each time. I get this error message:
    Exit Code: 7
    -------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------
    - 1 fatal error(s), 3 error(s), 0 warning(s)
ERROR: Found payload conflicts and errors:
ERROR:  - Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5 depends on Flash Player to be installed.
ERROR:  - Adobe Flash CS5 depends on Flash Player to be installed.
FATAL ERROR: Conflicts were found in the selected payloads. Halting installation.
It tells me to restart my system and try to install again, which I do, but it still doesn't work. When I load the CS5 installation disc, Adobe automatically recognizes that everything except InDesign has properly loaded, and when I click the install button, it loops me back through the aforementioned circle.
    Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance for your time!

Yes, I installed the newest version of Flash Player for Mac OS 10.6 and rebooted, but got the same message.
I also installed Adobe Support Advisor and ran it - Adobe's site says "Adobe Support Advisor looks at your OS system information and reads your most recent CS installation log file when you start the application. To run a customized inspection, deselect Autorun Diagnostics At Launch and set other options in the Preferences panel."
I did the autorun first and got this message: "The module found no issues to report for the selected log file.
If you continue to have difficulties with the application,
    please contact Adobe Support: http://www.adobe.com/support"
So I ended program to deselect "Autorun Diagnostics," but then I got this message: "Creative Suite Product Install Inspector has identified the issue(s) that needs attention.
An issue report has been generated.
Adobe will use this issue report to help address the issue(s) in the future."
I restarted the ASA and ran according to Adobe's instructions, got the same message, so I packaged the issue and got this message: "Adobe Support Advisor will package up system information and product log files that may be needed by Adobe Support personnel in order to assist you with the issue(s).
This information can only be accessed by Adobe Support personnel when you open a support case with Adobe and if you provide the entire 'key' value you will receive after the upload will complete."
It then gave me a support case number, so I'm about to call Adobe and see if they can help me. :-(

  • Story Plus CC desktop app won't install on MacBook Pro

I have a subscription to Adobe CC Complete. I can use Story CC online but need offline access desperately for when I'm traveling, which is ALL the time. First it said I needed Adobe Air but wouldn't let that install through the Story online install page. So I downloaded and installed Air directly from the Adobe website. Online Story page still says I need to install Air first but, of course, it won't let me do that. Can anyone help me, please?

  • MAC OS X won't install on Macbook

I recently cleared my harddrive on my Macbook. Now I am trying to install MAC OS X and I keep getting "Install Failed." Why is this happening? And is there anything I can do about it besides bringing it to Apple?

Might need to repair the hard disk first...
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your startup disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 15% free space.
If you cannot boot from your install disc, try booting in Safe Mode

  • Tiger won't install on macbook

I recentlly purchased a Macbook MA252 1.83GHz 2GB 320GB. It came without an operating system. I tried to install Snow Lepord but it said I needed Lepord first. So I then tried to install Tiger but when I put the disk in it does nothing. I'm assuming that the computer doesn't support the newer version of Tiger & I have to install Lepord. The Tiger disk isn't the gray disk but the black one. Any help would be great.

The Mac OS X Server 10.4 Universal Binary will run on early Intel Macs and is available to the public, and every Intel Mac that was publicly available and has at least 2GB of RAM supports Snow Leopard or Lion.

  • Leopard won't install on MacBook

I got a repeated kernal panic on restart after installing Leopard. After calling the Apple Support line they told me that they had had many reports of this and that the solution is to do an "Archive and Install", which I did.
The restart worked this time but when I got to the registration screen I was unable to write anything at all, and consequently could not get past this screen.
I do not have sufficient HD space left to do another "Archive and Install" and am completely stuck. I tried to reach the support line on this but there were an overwhelming number of calls and I was told to call back later. So far, no luck.
I am writing this on my brother's Mac Pro since I no longer have access to my MacBook.
You would think Apple would have ironed out these glitches by now. I am thoroughly disgusted and fed up.

OK I can not believe some tard told you to archive and install for kernel panics. Seriously call back and ask to speak to a specialist because that is beyond rediculous. I hope they gave you a case number. If so give the next person you speak with that case number so they can continue your same case.
If your KP's are OS based (rarely are) it's erase and install time. Hope you thought ahead and made backups. If not, hope you have the $100+ it will cost to have someone else do a data recovery for you.
Usually when a computer gets KP's after a software update or install, it isn't because anything went bad in your software. It usually means there are bad sectors on the hard drive that were just not being accessed until now. Let's say you have kept 16-20GB free space on your hard drive. With the exception of your caches and temporary memory that is literally empty space not being read from or written to on the drive. If the physical hardware is damaged in that area of the drive, you aren't going to know about it until you try to use it.
So you install Leopard, which requires 9 GB of free hard drive space. During the install process, part of your hard drive, which up til now has been sitting untouched, is now getting used to temporarily archive and hold data while the OS installs. Once the computer hits those bad sectors, it's ZOMG *You need to restart your computer in 5 languages* kernel panic time
Not trying to freak you out, just trying to explain you will be very lucky if a reinstall resolves this. Usually when I see a KP on a mac, I am replacing the hard drive.
    Editted to add:
Before you proceed with an erase and install, I would check in with an authorized service provider (or apple store if you are lucky enough to be near one that has appointments available) and have them run some diagnostics to determine if this is a hardware or software issue.
Either way, you're looking at total data loss to resolve the issue. Erase and install or a replacement hard drive. I'd ask about data recovery services before they do any repairs or reinstalls.
You can find a provider here:

  • Macbook won't install anyhting/macbook installeert niets

    Hallo,

it also might help people to suggest some things to try if you give us some more information such as what application(s) you are trying to install, and how. Is it from a CD or from a .dmg? And do you have any external drives attached?

  • HP PSC 1350 All-In-One won't install on Macbook Pro, PLEASE HELP!! :(

    Hi all
I know this has been covered before, but I've done SO many Google searches I just can't think of any other keyword combinations so I'm hoping someone can advise.
I'm running the latest version of OS X, and when I first plugged in the printer via USB, it auto-detected, searched for and installed drivers, after which the printer showed up under Print & Fax, but as a 1300 and not a 1350.
When I proceeded to print from MS Word, the job showed up in the print queue, but it didn't print, and when I opened up the print queue it said the printer was idle - but it WASN'T!
So I proceeded to 'reset the printing system.' After this, I can't even add the printer! Print & Fax refuses to even REGISTER that the printer is connected...
I'm about to pull my hair out - I've banged my head against the wall for SO long trying to make this work, first through a network with my Windows XP PC, and now via a direct connection via USB after rearranging my WHOLE office... If someone could advise I would greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks,
    Eye.

I had that exact model MFD. You should know two things:
1 it is no longer fully supported. It reports as a 1300 and often doesn't work very well. You can print, after a fashion, using HP's official drivers, but you will get much better results (and drivers which actually see the **** MFD!) from drivers available at the HPIJS Project. <http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/hpij s%23Printers>. The drivers there are mostly developed by HP employees but are NOT offered on HP's site and are NOT given to Apple by HP to be included in printer driver updates. You guess as to why this is, given that they behave much better than HP's official drivers and have since Tiger, is as good as mine. Note that installing the HPIJS drivers turns your MFD into a PostScript (clone) device! Your output is noticeably superior to that produced by the official drivers, and your level of control over that output is increased. (It's also slower, and the PSC1350 was never fast...)
2 while you can print from the PSC1350, you cannot scan. Not under either Leopard or Snow Leopard. VueScan may support the PSC1350 now, I don't know, I bailed a long time ago. I do know that the HP scan software breaks, hard, under Leopard and will not install in Snow Leopard. Note that HP has (finally!) released print drivers for the PSC1350 so that you can print from Leopard and Snow Leopard; when Leopard came out, the only way to print using that device was was to use the HPIJS drivers... and for the first 2-3 months after Leopard arrived, the version of GhostScript that the HPIJS drivers used was broken on Leopard, so it wasn't possible to print at all. My PSC1350 was a paperweight. When I contacted HP's tech support they said in so many words that the MFD was no longer supported either under Leopard or Vista and that I should either use older OSes or get a new printer. I did. I got a Brother. Brother USA Sales should send HP Tech Support flowers.
HP's software for this device is profoundly broken.
