WRT54G3G: Going crazy after a day

Hello,
my WRT54G3G is going crazy after about a day. Ping times to it vary from 1ms to 30s with lots of packet losses. With kismet and wireshark I found that the device invents clients (only Cisco clients! ) and sends them "IEEE 802.11 Null function (No data)" frames. What's going on?
IEEE 802.11 Null function (No data), Flags: ....R.FT I could provide the wireshark dump, if needed.
Thanks,
Markus

Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...It should resolve the problem.

  • Why is auditd going crazy after applying Jan-2015 security patches for Solaris10 ?

After patches applied the auditd is writing appx. 1 GB of data in log file in 4 hours on a system with nobody logged in.  Auditd was restarted via cron to save log and start new one, then was ok for a period.  Later the same day  went crazy again.  Ideas ? Thanks

This should not. Please check the audit log file and look if a specific entry is written again and again

  • Fan going crazy after I just got optical drive repaired

Well my fan now sounds like a loud air conditioner or something after getting it fixed at a mac store. Just got it back today because I had to replace my optical drive. I'm assuming it's not dust since it just started, and I do have an appointment set up for it to be looked at but I was hoping to get some comments from you guys.
My computer's fans have never been this loud. And it won't go away either. They start up right when I start the computer up. I could leave it for 5 minutes without doing anything on it and they would still sound like a jet engine or something. Makes me afraid that my comp is going to fry itself or something.
Idk but I think the store must have messed up on something to make it do this. I have heard the fans before but this is crazy.

hmm ... i wonder if your issue might be related to the experience another user had in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2434866&tstart=0.

  • MSI Z77A-GD65 going crazy after Windows 8/8.1 installation.

Hey so I decided to buy a new SSD and update my system to Windows 8.1 (coming from 7), mainly for optimal BF4 gaming experience, (I also intend buying a 290X lightning or two when they come out...) . But during the process I encountered a truckload of problems, my main one is this: I was using bios version 10.7 for almost a year, with a stable 4.8GHz OC (which I managed to get done after each bios flash since I built the rig in early 2012), everything went great - this was on Windows 7.
However when I migrated to Windows 8.1 my PC wouldn't boot anymore and after 5-6 attempts it did boot and it said that all my settings were reset to default, fine. I restarted and from then on it wouldn't boot anymore no matter what. The error code on the mobo is always "19" which in manual says it's Early South Bridge initialization. I have no ideea what to do anymore, I tried plugging out SSD, HDDs, GPUs, RAM sticks, clearing cmos with back panel button. It all boiled down to either not booting or going into a boot loop.
My only solution was to switch to bios B on the multi-bios switch which is running 10.2 an almost 2 years old bios. That beeing said I can boot normally now (and fast), and the system runs great but the bios version is so old that it does not let my 2x680 MSI Lightnings work in PCIE 3.0, only 2.0...
So i'm VERY scared of what to do next, because I don't want this second bios to corrupt as well.
I always flashed my bios with Live update 5, I did this with each new bios release and never had a problem but I read that the latest bios, 10.10 is buggy, and I don't know HOW to flash my bios to an earlier version, maybe even 10.7 or 10.8 in another way. Is there a way to safely flash BOTH bioses and to repair my A bios at the same time?
TL'DR, if there isn't any safe solution to my problem I might as well just press in OC Genie button and have a mild OC until sometimes next year when I'll get a new mb + cpu + ram anyway. But if there is one, please let me know.
    Any imput is apreciated, THANKS!

As you can see it had nothing to do with me doing a bad BIOS flash, actually not even the OC... isn't there perhaps a way to fix that A BIOS?

  • Alarm Clock going Crazy after updating 3GS

After updating to iOS 4.1 on my 3GS when I set the alarm clock for 7am it goes off at 6am.
How can I get my phone's alarm to go off at the time a set it to, instead of an hour earlier?

I have the same problem, and so did everyone at uni I asked this week, but it seems to only be the alarms that are set to repeat each week, if you set a "one off" alarm it goes off at the right time which makes it more confusing. Must have something to do with daylight savings and the fact the government keeps making it start earlier and earlier each year.

  • Toshiba Satellite R15 - Help! Pen calibration goes crazy after hibernating and resuming the PC.

I have a Toshiba Satellite R15 laptop that I got off of ebay. This laptop is the kind with a flip-around screen so that you can use it in pen/tablet/stylus mode. When I got it, I installed a fresh copy of Windows XP SP3 on it, and installed all the necessary drivers from the Toshiba web site. Also I made sure to get the latest Wacom pen driver from the Wacom web site. Also, I got all the windows updates.
I can normally calibrate the display and the pen just fine using the Wacom tool in the windows control panel. I have the computer configured so that, when I flip the screen into tablet mode, the screen goes into a portrait-aspect configuration (tall instead of wide). This works fine and I can also calibrate the screen fine in this mode.
But if I hibernate and resume the machine (in "tablet" mode with the screen flipped around), after resume, everything has gone wonky with the pen. First of all, the pen moves as if the machine were in landscape mode still: An X motion of the pen produces a Y motion of the cursor, for example. If, then, I flip the screen back to regular-laptop mode, the X/Y direction is correct again, but, the calibration is way off, the cursor is two inches to the right of the pen. If I try to calibrate again when it's in this state, the pen is still off by two inches.
I did a google search, but, the only results I see are for people encountering this problem under Linux. I don't see any solutions for Windows XP users.
I emailed Wacom and they said to ask Toshiba. I can't email toshiba (no support email in their contact page), so I'm asking here. Can anyone help?

I ended up fixing this, by formatting the computer from scratch and installing Windows 7 instead of Windows XP.  :-)
This works but there is a limitation: There are no updated Win7 video drivers from Intel for the Toshiba Sattellite R15. So you have to hack the XP drivers to work. Here are the instructions on how to hack the XP drivers to work on the Toshiba Satellite R15 running Windows 7:
    http://www.groundstate.net/855GMWin7.html
But after that, everything is fine on the tablet.

  • Time Machine going crazy after restore of a volume - UUIDs keep mismatching

    HELP!
    Background:
    I have a MacPro (2006) with SnowLeopard.
I use TM to backup most of the files from the system volume and 2 more disks called Enterprise1, 2 and 3 (yessss, I love StarTrek ).
I have lots of data (pics, movies) spread out over these 3 disks (1 TB rough estimate).
For TM I use a FireWire connected external "WD my book studio II" with 4TB. It has 2 years of history and is half used half free now.
    Problem:
A few days ago one of my data disks crashed and I had to replace it with a new one. I installed the new disk and -maybe naive- named it like the crashed one.
I successfully restored all data from TimeMachine to the new disk (TANK YOU APPLE).
After that TM started to re-backup 360GB. Initially I was confused and cancelled the backup. I went to the Internet and found this to be the normal (but silly!) behavior. So I resumed TM backup. But now it wanted to backup more than 700 GB....?!?!
I cancelled again, went to the Internet again, found lots of issues but no clear explanation, and so I decided to suffer through the pain and let things go their way.
However, after the 700GB backup was done, it started another 360GB backup and after that one was done it continued with yet another 360GB backup....
I installed the TM widget and found messages
"Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: Enterprise1"
"Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: Enterprise2"
on all the events later than the restore. The strange thing is that I replaced only the volume Enterprise3. I did not touch Enterprise1 and Enterprise2.
I did a TM reset as described in the trouble shooting guides, but without any success.
How can I find out more about these UUIDs?
Why could the ones that I didn't touch start to mismatch?
Why does the mismatch not go away after successful(?) backup?
Any help is highly appreciated (I really want to keep my backup history. It has been a extremely helpful quite a few times in the past)....

Hm... Many people read my post, but nobody came up with any suggestions so far
So I decided to fully erase my time machine drive by re-formatting it. I also did the full time machine reset (as described in the trouble shooting topic) and I re-started time machine.
The first run went as expected: Full backup of everything I didn't exclude:

  • Going crazy after upgrading to ios 8.0.2.

Please tell me if need to adjust my settings or what? Since upgrading to IOS 8.0.2, my iPad prioritizes my cellular service over WiFi service. I have to physically turn off cellular service before the iPad will even recognize a WiFi connection.  Then I have to reboot the iPad to get the WiFi to work. I have to do this every time I move the iPad to a new location. The WiFi will work for a little bit after I reboot, then the iPad freezes up completely, or I lose my Internet connection, or both. So I have to reboot the iPad again. Meanwhile, my battery is draining at an alarming rate. I used to be able to go 10 hours before recharging. Now it will only last a couple of hours. I have had to reboot my iPad 5 times today. Can somebody please tell me if you have similar issues, or if I have a setting wrong somewhere, or what? I was completely happy with my IOS 7 version. Can I go back to it?

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • IPad going crazy after Music More Shared Mac

I was listening to my Mac's music library on my 3rd generation iPad via Music>More>Shared>Mac.
All of a sudden, after one song, my iPad went a little nuts and wouldn't play anything anymore: it'd just show, in rapid succession, some of the song titles in that particular playlist. The play button (top right on the screen) flickered, the Music play/pause button didn't respond anymore. When a touched a song title to play it, it wouldn't, instead it'd show random song titles again in quick succession.
I believe this started after my Mac displayed a message that said another decide was using my computer's IP.
This is the second times this happens. Can anyone shed any light on this annoying problem? Thanks in advance.
(I've recorded a video of it on my iPhone but don't know how to post it here.)

If you have two devices on your local network using the same IP address you will have all sorts of problems. Are you using DHCP to assign IP addresses or have you statically assigned IP addresses to each of you devices?
Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power to it for 30 seconds to see if this corrects the problem.

  • MS Word spellcheck goes crazy after export from Pages

I exported two long documents (250 pages each) from Pages 5.0 to Word (.docx) format. When I open the documents in Word for Mac 2011 everything seems fine – until the spellcheck runs. It comes up with hundreds of false positives.
For instance, the following words are all marked as misspelled: if, understanding, wasn't, isn't, student,  – and so on and so on, throughout the whole document. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.
Previous to export I had checked spelling in Pages. So there shouldn't have been any misspelled words at all, let alone all these crazy false positives.
Has anybody experienced this? Has anyone got any advice on how to fix this? I know I can just turn off spellchecking in the Word documents, but I'd like to keep it on.
    I'm running OS X Mavericks (10.9) on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro.
    Thanks.

I know what you mean, fruhulda. But MS Word is working just fine with all my other documents that weren't exported from Pages.
It makes me wonder if there is something underying the text when the files are exported, something that is throwing off the MS Word spell checker.
My next test will be to export to text then open in Word. (My documents have very little formatting.) If spellcheck works fine then, I'm forced to wonder whether something about the export process from Pages to Word is problemmatic, or at least problemmatic for Word. But exporting to Word is the whole point, so there shoulnd't be these issues.
In other words, how can you have a feature that claims to export to Word that can't handle something as basic as spell check?
My documents (books) ultimately need to reside in Word so the publisher can work with them. I like working in Pages. It feels cleaner than Word. So I work in Pages and then export. But with this problem I'm seriously considering whether I shouldn't just write in Word from the start and avoid the problems that can come with exports. Somehow I feel like there are bound to be more.

  • Fan going crazy after shut down

It happened twice in the past two weeks. After shut down, a fan (in the back I believe) spin very very fast, as loud as a vacuum cleaner. The only way to stop it was to unplug my mac pro. It was so strange. I have had issues with fan noise, and the finder crashing. Anyone with an idea: I'm thinking of bringing the mac to the shop.

No I do not think so, I have the standard configuration: 2x2.8 Ghz with an ATI Radeon 2600.
Extra are 2x1GB memory from OWC, and 2 SATA Drives.
I've tried to reset the SMC many times, without noticing much of a difference: I've been monitoring the temperature at the power supply location and the memory bays: PS is around 110, memory around 105-120, depending on the Bay. I am running smcFan Control. I"m running the fans 1/4 faster than the MacPro default (according to smcFan Control preferences.)
Mea culpa, there's no AC in the room where I work, the Ambient temp has been 70-85.
Am I overtly concerned? I don't really have the time to bring the Mac to the shop.

  • Help....Mail goes crazy after update when using exchange account

Since I updated to 10.5.5 my exchange account goes haywire regularly. I was able to get it back up the last time it happened by moving to a IP address for my outgoing server, but this time nothing is working. Any suggestions????

Sry for beeing a bit unclear, still early in the morning :P
    I´d try this:
go to ~/Library/Prefrence/ delete "com.apple.mail.plist", log out and back in again, launch Mail
    Still dont work?
Go to Mail Prefrences/Accounts/ delete your account and set it up again

  • Text spacing goes crazy after editing a pdf in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

Recently upgraded to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from 7.  I have old pdf documents that need minor editing.  When I edit text with Text Touchup tool, I get an error that font substitution taking place, usually  TimesNewRoman Postscript to just TimesNewRoman.  Once I save the pdf, text throughout the entire document is spaced randomly, i.e. "Doc    ument is n    o     t     fo   m    atted  correctly".  I do not have the original source documents to re-scan or recreate the PDF.  If I create a new document using 9, I embed my fonts or I get the same problem.  I can't do this with the hundreds of old documents I have.  Is there a fix? I have tried Adobe Tech support via email with no response.
I am using Distiller to print to pdf.
I am using Vista Home Premium (ugh!) but tried it on an XP system with same results.
All my documents are text, and were OCR'd using Abbyy FineReader originally.

Thanks for the input, but I don't have the originals in either hardcopy or OCR'd files.  My workaround is to re-OCR the pdf, make the changes I need and then save to PDF.  This makes a lot more work.  I am really trying to figure out what changed in 9 from 7 that causes this to happen.  I believe it is an issue with the fonts, was just hoping for a fix.
The edits to these documents are minor, like removing some highlighting or taking away a few words of colored text, but they are necessary, just very unhappy that it now can take hours to do something it used to take minutes to do.

  • After exporting, the sound in some areas goes crazy

So like the title explains, after exporting the sound in a couple of areas goes crazy, like static. I tried twice, still the same result.
NB: I exported in H.264 in Apple devices 1080p, MBP retina 15 inch 2.6 GHz i7, FCPX 10.0.8
    Thank you

When in FCPX, the sound works fine (in mono) but when exported in H.264, the sound becomes static.
I recently had a similar problem, with Final Cut playing the audio fine but in the exported file the sound was static. The source of the problerm was that the audio was just slightly less than 48 kHz. After using Compressor to transcode the media with audio at 48 kHz and importing the transcoded file into Fianl Cut, the exported audio was fine.
