WRT54G3G-ST and DDNS

I am attempting to use the DDNS feature in the WRT54G3G-ST. It appears to be working but I cannot access camera from outside my LAN. If I tracert to the ddns domain name it correctly pulls up the correct IP address but seems to fail when it reaches the Sprint wireless network. I am using the Sprint Aircard as the Internet connection. Does anyone know if Sprint is blocking inbound traffic on port 80.

as the packet is dropping on the Sprint network .. the problem has to be on the Sprint end ..

  • IP Port Forwarding Setup WRT54G3G-ST and DDNS

I am setting up a remotely managed network. I can reach the router fine from the internet but I cannot reach the bridge or the camera through the internet.  On the local network I can "see" or ping every device just fine.  Other routers I have used have a local and global port setting.  It isn't clear to me how this router should be set up.  I have set up static IP addresses for each of the devices.  I am using  DDNS access to the internet that creates another possible factor.
Below is the "Port range forwarding" setting that I have used-  I have tried my hand with the port triggering but it wasn't clear how that applied to what I am trying to accomplish.

The port forwardings look good. You forward port 8580 on the WAN IP address of the router to the local computer 172.16.0.2 and port 1010 to 172.16.0.11.
There are a few possible problems:
    1. the router is not connected directly to the internet. If you run the router behind another (gateway) router this won't work. You have to configure the same port forwardings on the first router as well and forward everything to the second router. To check what kind of setup you have, look on the Status tab. If your internet connection IP address is a private IP address, you are not directly connected to the internet.
    2. firewalls on the server devices may block traffic.
    3. the server may not like NATed requests. For example, depending on your configuration a web server running at 172.16.0.11 may not accept a request coming in for an internet address a.b.c.d which happens to be your router's internet IP address.
For a start I would check if the servers are running properly by opening a connection through telnet. From a command prompt window run
    telnet 172.16.0.11 1010
inside your LAN. It should open a connection. Type in anything until you see a reaction and usually the server will prompt with an error and close the connection.
Then test the same again from the internet with the IP address of the router.
    telnet a.b.c.d 1010
(a.b.c.d being your internet IP address) If everything works correct, it should work like before. If not, you'll get an error message either immediately or after a time out. The exact error would be good to know for further troubleshooting.

  • WRT54G3G-VF and WRT54G3G-AT difference

    Hello!
I'm highly  interested in difference between WRT54G3G-VF and WRT54G3G-AT models.
The most important thing is kind of difference: Is there only hardware difference or a firmware difference?
Can I use firmware from WRT54G3G-VF for WRT54G3G-AT model?
I'm looking for alternative firmware on OpenWRT but there is only WRT54G3G-VF model supported.
Here, in USA I want to buy and use AT model (wth according card). So, I'm wondering if I can use WRT54G3G-VF firmware for WRT54G3G-AT model.
I realize that you possibly have no idea about the Openwrt details, but it would be enough for me to know about the kind of difference between these models.
    Thank you.
    Pavel.

  • Linksys WRT54G3G-ST and Sony Ericsson GC89 Compability?

Is the WRT54G3G-ST compatible with the Sony Ericsson GC89 EDGE/Wireless LAN PC Card?
My Broadband Internet provider uses only this card and WRT54G3G-ST appears to solve some our problems.
I have been asking my Broadband provider to confirm if the GC89 will work with WRT54G3G, but no one has been able to confirm or deny if the card will work with the router.
The information that I have about this card shows the following drivers
    NDIS 5 driver
    PC/SC driver
Can someone help me to confirm that the router will work with GC89

According to the information in Linksys, this router also support the following card from Vodafone.
    Vendor Model
    Option GlobeTrotter HSDPA
    Novatel Merlin XU870
    Huawei E618
    Huawei E630
    Novatel Merlin U740
    Option GT 3G+
    Huawei E620
    Option 3G Datacard
    Option 3G Quad
    Novatel Merlin U630
    And these cards too...
    Pantech PX-500
    Sierra AC595
    Novatel S720
    Novatel S620
    Sierra AC580
    Sprint PC5740
So I'm hopping that this router does work with other card other than Sprint.
Is there any way to check if it will work, other than trial and error?

  • WRT600N and DDNS

I have been notified by Dyndns.org that my WRT600N router is trying to update my account too many times when the IP address has not changed. This is what they told me. "Your account has been blocked for abuse. This action has been taken due to the receipt of multiple updates originating from the same IP address. Updates which result in no change to the host are abusive."
Has anyone had this problem with their router and the DDNS side of it? LINKSYS, look into this with your next firmware update!!!!
For the time being, I've turned the DDNS off in the router and gone back to a software based updater.
    John

I had the same issue with the ddns feature in my WRT600N
, and Dyndns.org shut me down also. I wonder how many more bugs does it have?

  • Linksys EA6700 and DDNS

I bought a Linksys EA6700. I wonder why the Dynamic DNS service NO-IP is not supported. This is one of the best free DDNS providers. The two that support (DynDNS and TZO) both have no free accounts anymore.

I notice that for Linksys Smart Wifi routers, one cannot access the domain name when you are accessing it within the network. I suppose it is for security reasons that Linksys designed their newer router versions for that reason. You might want to check this link that I have shared also in another post, about DNS Rebinding:  http://blog.trendmicro.com/trendlabs-security-intelligence/protecting-your-router-against-possibl-dn....

  • Linksys and DDNS: no alternatives: dyndns / TZO or die ?

    hi all,
i`m rellay disappointed about linksys. dyndns and tzo now one company. Why is linksys not implemting freeware hoster or at least a field for custom implementation like others have ? What is the reason of your strategie ? the NSA to keep only USA hoster in your drop down menu ?
@ dd-wrt i have seen, WIP (work in progress) for EA2700. Is that the only on solution to wait, or have anybody any interims solution for me ? i want to connect Win7 workstation for remote access.

Installing a third party firmware for your Linksys router is not recommended and will void its warranty. I guess Linksys is doing their best to allow small business, associations and individuals to host a website, email system, FTP site and more, on their own servers at their own locations wether they have a static or dynamic IP address. Teaming up with TZO.com by far is the best resolution to ensure reliability.

  • Linksys WRT54G3G and IBURST desktop modem is it possible?

I am located  in South Africa and I am using an  Iburst  wireless desktop modem  to connect to the internet.
I have a  Linksys WRT54G3G router and would like to set up a wireless network and use my Kindle on WIFI as well.
Is the unit compatible with Iburts Desktop?
    Any help out there please.
    Thanks  Mark

If you would like to cascade the router behind your modem and use it as a DHCP then it is possible. Just make sure that the computer was able to grab an ip address and was able to get online behind the modem. Check on the link below for further information on how to setup your router. Though the link is for the installation of the router for cable internet but the installation process is just pretty much the same.

  • I need help configuring three products: WRVS4400N, WAG325N and WVC200

    Hello,
I want your help in three linksys products as mentioned below:
    WAG325N ADSL2+ Router
    WVC200 PTZ CAMERA
    WRVS4400N VPN Router
The computer connections and configuration of above linksys products which I am working with and which are connected with the above three linksys products at present are as follows:
    1) I have one server and one laptop.
    2) Laptop has two wireless adapters which I use to connect to the routers.
    3) The server is connected to the WRVS4400N Router through one of the four ethernet ports mentioned on backside of the WRVS4400N Router. The DHCP of this router is disabled by me and the router's default IP 192.168.1.1 was changed to 192.168.1.12
    4) The WRVS4400N router is connected to the Wag325N router for internet access to the server and server is connected to WRVS4400N Router as mentioned in point number 3 above.
    5) The WAG325N router is setup as per the instructions mentioned that came with the CD of this router. The only change that I have modified is the router's default IP. I have changed the default IP of WAG325N from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.13 and DHCP is enabled on this router.
The help that I want is step by step as follows:
    1) I want to configure the both routers in such a way so that I can access them from anywhere across the world i.e. remotely using internet.
    2) I have WVC200 Camera which I setup according to instructions mentioned in the CD and also configured the DDNS service. But when the " RJ45 Cable is connected " to my WAG325N router and Camera, then only the camera works properly. What I want is that after the setup is completed, I want to remove the RJ45 Cable connected from my camera to router and use the camera wirelessly from any location within the range of my above mentioned WAG325N router. I need flexibility to use my camera without cable connections from any location and any rooms of my house. I also configured the port forwarding and DDNS properly. The only problem is that if I remove the Cable after the setup of camera is finished, then the camera access is not working on LAN or internet(through DDNS). Whereas the same works on LAN and internet using the DDNS service, when the cable is physically connected to the WAG325N router. Also I want one more thing additionally other then this. I want to use this camera wirelessly by configuring the port forwarding options on both routers at a same time(i.e. simultaneously at once on WRVS4400N and WAG325N).
    3) Now as two DHCP cannot work at a same time and as my routers are connected with each other, So I have disabled the DHCP on WRVS4400N. Here I need help so that DHCP can be enabled on both at a same time. Because if the DHCP is not enabled on WRVS4400N then I have to give IP to the server which is connected with server. If I enable the DHCP then there are two DHCP's at a same time on same network and thus problems occurs in internet access to the server. So, what should I do in such a way so that I do not have to give any IP to my server and set it to automatic.
    4) This question is just for my knowledge so that I can use the above mentioned linksys purchases upto full extent possible in future. I want to know what is VPN and how is it usefull? What is the difference between VPN and VPN tunnel? How can VPN be used to access all my network resources connected with my server  in the above situation where my server is connected to WRVS4400N which in turn is connected to WAG325N?
    Thanks !
    Sincerely
    Kalpesh Sharma

    for question number 1:
you said that your main router is WAG325N, for you to remotely access the 2nd router is for you to forward the IP addr [192.168.1.12] on your first router and change its management port of your second router that is located on either the security tab or the administration tab on its User Interface
to access your first router open and Internet Explorer and enter
    http://[public IP addr]:[management port]
the PUBLIC IP or INTERNET IP is located on the status page of your router
to access your second router just change the management port to
    ex.
    http://66.77.88.99:8080 first router
    http://66.77.88.99:8081 second router
    for question number 2:
make sure that you have configured all wireless settings on both your camera and your main router WAG235N, once done save settings and power down your camera and power it back up.
    for question number 3:
for you to enable DHCP on both routers your connection can go like so...
from a regular port of your main router going to the INTERNET port of your second router [this way you can enable DHCP on both routers]. INTERNET is no problem, your cesond router will be able to get connection
    for question number 4:
    VPN - Virtual Private Network
VPN tunnel -is/are connections from router to router [gateway to gateway]
VPN is used to connect a diff network on a diff location for you to have access to the shared filed [it is like a file sharing through the internet]
for you to be able to use VPN tunnel you have to connect to a different VPN router on a diff location. In that way you can get access to the other network

  • WRT54G3G-ST has problems with Pantech PX-500

Hello All and Linksys Support (I hope),
I just got this WRT54G3G-ST and when I insert the PX-500 PRIOR to power up...
the WRT54G3G-ST will not complete it's bootup process.
If I insert the PX-500 AFTER power up... the WRT54G3G-ST may or may not see the card.
When it does see the card the blue Data-Card LED flashes along with the Power LED
but the system will not go online.
My Sprint card works just fine in my laptop PC.
I called LinkSys Support earlier and a Tech said that this unit (ending in -ST) does
NOT work with the PX-500 PCMCIA card. He said I needed to get the WRT54G3G-AT.
    I think he is incorrect.
I found the following link on the web site: (you must reselect THE hardware version)
    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1175237416666&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=1666641396B21&displaypage=nodata#versiondetail
When you go down to "Firmware updates" and take a look at the Version Info
you will see that this card IS supported:
Release Notes 2.00.9 Model Name: WRT54G3G-ST (for Sprint) v2.00.9_000 (2006/11/02)
    1. Add Support for Pantech PX-500
    2. Add support for Sierra AC595
    v2.00.4_000 (2006/08/09)
    1. Support Novatel S720
    2. Support Novatel S620
    3. Support Sierra AC580
    4. Support Sprint PC5740
I am thinking that this unit is defective as far as the PCMCIA is concerned. Any Suggestions??

I have the same setup as you and it works. Looks to me like a bad router as the Pantech card works in your notebook.

  • DDNS error on WRP400 with firmware version: 2.00.26

I have recently upgraded my WRP400 with the latest firmware (2.00.26) and found that the DDNS updating function with dyndns.org is stopped.
I made tests with the previous firmwares (2.00.20 and even with the old 1.01.00) and DDNS updating works with these older firmwares and stops immediately when the new 2.00.26 firmware is applied.
The reason why I need to upgrade to the latest fw, because I have the very annoying issue with the WRP400's stoppages. The release notes for the .26 firmware tells this is fixed now. btw, after the fw update it has stopped only once in 3 days...(!) but this is far better than the daily 2 or more stops...
I need the DDNS service, and I want a stop-free router at the same time. I know, our world is not that easy today, but please...

    Hi Szabolcs,
I do have the same problem.
I do use more them 10 WRP400 devices, and I am still using fw 2.00.20 due to the DDNS problem.
WRP400 could be a very nice device, but it simply doesn't performs as it should. And in my opinion, the list of supported USB modems is simply to short.
I am already considering chaning from supplier and try to find a different and working solution in the market.
I also found out that the router, from time to time need to be reseted (it simply stops performing as it should). So, as there is no auto reset option, I need o use Plug In Timers to reset them once every day.
So, as you can see, I also would like to see a solution for this problem...

  • I can not reactivate my DDNS service after having reinstalled my Creative Live Wireless Webcam

    Hi,
After having changed my wireless router's network key, I had to change of course also the key
stored in my Creative Live Wireless Internet Camera setup. To do
this, I have deleted my cam definitions and did a scratch install after
resetting. However now I can not register my URL name anymore and DDNS is
disabled. The setup wizard says that it could not connect to the server to
register my host name (in fact this name is already registered by me before) and that I should try again. I attempted numerous times, no help!
The IP adress of my Creative Wireless Cam is 92.68..250, it is exactly the same as it
was before. My registered URL was "goztepe.creativeddns.com" and remote monitoring?was working?
with these parameters without any problem, which are still the same as before, I did not change them.
How should I reactivate my DDNS service? Maybe a reset or something alike is needed on the Creative Server which is doing the URL registrations? I would appreciate any help because I
am not able to access my cam from remote anymore!
    Thanks in advance. Ozgur Ozdemir

  • WRT54G3G for South America

In Europe we use a lot of WRT54G3G routers with USB stick functionality for HSPDA or high speed mobile connections.. and this works perfect on the 2100 mhz frequency
In South America they offer always USB sticks for mobile internet who have 3,5G but in the Linksys we only reach EDGE speed.
If you put the modem directly in your pc, you have high speed internet.
Is there any router who can support the 3,5G with USB functionality for the 850 mhz networks like eg Mexico, Panama.
We use providers like Claro in Panama en Telmex in Mexico.  We use the routers to connect our networks to allow a complete network internet access.
    thx in advance

I think there is a difference between different versions of WRT54G3G for example WRT54G3G-ST and WRT54G3G-EU etc.
Which data card do you use? Make sure that your data card is compatible with your router model.
