Wrt54gc switch max speed

Hello,
I have WRT54GC router. When I plug the LAN cable directly in my laptop I get 77Mbits download speed but when I use the router as switch I get less than 50Mbits. What is the maximum speed that I can reach through the switch?

We can not define the exact speed as it depends on the Internet Service Provider.Also it depends upon the bandwidth used by the device connected behind the router.

    I guess you are speaking about the Satellite L855 series since this model mentioned in your subject.
    I dont think that Satellite L855 supports an SATA III HDD controller.
    I think its SATA I, maybe SATA II
    My notebook supports SATA I (1.5Gb/s) and I upgraded the unit with an SSD SATA III drive (6Gb/s). The SSD works fine but of course it does not reach the full 6Gb/s due to the HDD controller limitation.

  • Max speed with Auto Flip?

    Hi!
    I need to scan a few pdf documents at fast speed as part of my work. I set the Auto Flip speed to 0.02 seconds in page transitions. Is this speed too fast for a 60Hz monitor? Will Acrobat be able to display all pages at this speed or will it miss some pages out? Also, is there a drop in quality this way or will all the images and text be catched and displayed in full quality at 0.02sec autoflip speed?

  • Max speed support on serial 2503

    Hi All,
    I have a router cisco 2503, I need to know what is Max. speed supported on serial interface? Presently we have 128KB leased line, and want to know weather I can upgrade the leased line to 256K with the same router ?
    THanks,

    Hello,
    if you are referring to the two serial interfaces on your 2503, these are high-speed serial interfaces, which support speeds up to 2048kbps, or roughly 2MB.

  • Max speed 1.0Mbps?

    Why is the max speed that I get with my WRT150N 1.0Mbps?  It doesn't matter where I'm at in the house, it doesn't matter if its an HP laptop, Dell laptop etc...the max speed i get is 1.0Mbps?

    What is the speed you are getting when you connect the computer straight to the Modem...?
    What is the speed you are getting on the wired computer(computer connected to the router via ethernet cable)...?
    Try upgrading your Router's Firmware and then reconfigure it...
    Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
    Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
    Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
    In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
    Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
    Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
    Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Often I will leave my office and return to find the fan running at max speed and the computer is unresponsive

    I also have a MacPro3,1 (2009) I believe and just started experiencing similar issues as described here.
    I have scheduled sleep and start cycles and often I will leave my office and return to find the fan running at max speed and the computer is unresponsive or I find the computer booted in to disk utility mode.
    I also often loose ethernet connectivity and have to try renewing DHCP lease several times before it will finally work.
    Has anyone found solutions for this. I have looked at the console errors right before shutdown and don't really see anything fishy. Here are the last couple of lines before it looks like it shutdown.

  • Airport Extreme + Airport Express and Max Speed.  Does my solution work?

    So, I am setting up a new network, with these parameters
    1) Extreme - main station, broadcasting dualband 2.4Ghz 802.11b/g/n and 5 Ghz 802.11n
    2) Express - to extend network
    3) Max Speed!
    So from what I've read, I could "simply" do this
    On the Extreme set to broadcast SSID "XYZ" on both 2.4/5
    On the Express set it to Extend "XYZ" on either 2.4 OR 5, not both.
    And then presto, network.  However, I'm thinking this is way to simple
    So my question is
    1) Does the Exteme only broadcasts one network on both bands?  I have seen that some posters have suggested to broadcast "XYZ" on 2.4 and then call another "XYZ 5 Ghz".  If I want to maximize throughput for all devices, what should I do?  Range is not an issue, both signals are perfect.
    Cheers

    First, there is no assurance that 5 GHz will provide you with higher throughput if the signal has deteriorated due to distance or obstructions. It is not unusual to see the 2.4 GHz band providing better throughput if the signal must pass through a few walls to reach the Express.
    The point is this....the Express will choose the best signal quality based a complex formula of speed and noise. If it "sees" a better signal at 2.4 GHz, that is where it will connect. If the 5 GHz signal is of high quality, the Express will connect at 5 GHz.
    Your computer will do exactly the same thing. If you are in the same room as the main router, it will connect to 5 GHz. Walk the laptop down the hall past a few rooms and around the corner and it will most likely connect to 2.4 GHz.
    If you have a Mac laptop handy, move it very close to the area where you plan to install the AirPort Express. Hold down the option key on the Mac while you click on the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the screen. Look at the Channel information to find out whether the laptop is connected at 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz.
    That will be a good indication of the band that the Express will connect to. What are your results when you try this?

  • Fan stuck on max speed

    Hi there I have a HP Envy 700-230ea and for some reason the system fan seems to be stuck on max speed I have tried many options to reduce it but none seem to work. I set it to power saver and left it to be idle but it continues to run on full. I have checked bios but there doesnt seem to be any settings to control the speed and have also installed speedfan but yet again doesnt make the slightest bit of difference for first week the computer ran really quiet but now the fan is very loud even when its not under pressure.
    Please help
    Thanks in advance

    Hello again DavichGee,
    I am sorry to hear you are still having the issue. I would like you to try resetting the BIOS on your computer. You can do this by restarting the computer and tapping F10. When you get into the BIOS click on File and click on Apply Defaults and Exit.
    If this does not resolve your issue I still think it would be best if you contact HP Technical Support for repair options.
    I would like to thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • HP Compaq 615 | no pwm-capable sensor modules | fans at max speed

    Hi,
    I have installed archlinux on an old HP Compaq 615 laptop, everything is working fine, but I have problems with the fan speed. After installing lm_sensors, configuring the sensors with sensors_detect resulted in this:
    Now follows a summary of the probes I have just done.
    Just press ENTER to continue:
    Driver `k10temp' (autoloaded):
    * Chip `AMD Family 11h thermal sensors' (confidence: 9)
    Driver `to-be-written':
    * Bus `SMBus PIIX4 adapter at 0b00'
    Busdriver `i2c_piix4', I2C address 0x4c
    Chip `SMSC EMC1402' (confidence: 6)
    Driver `adm1021':
    * Bus `SMBus PIIX4 adapter at 0b00'
    Busdriver `i2c_piix4', I2C address 0x4e
    Chip `Maxim MAX1617' (confidence: 3)
    Note: there is no driver for SMSC EMC1402 yet.
    Check http://www.lm-sensors.org/wiki/Devices for updates.
    Running pwmconfig leads to the error:
    /usr/bin/pwmconfig: There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed
    If I execute sensors, I get this:
    k10temp-pci-00c3
    Adapter: PCI adapter
    temp1: +51.4°C (high = +70.0°C)
    (crit = +100.0°C, hyst = +95.0°C)
    max1617-i2c-5-4e
    Adapter: SMBus PIIX4 adapter at 0b00
    temp1: +0.0°C (low = +0.0°C, high = +0.0°C)
    temp2: +51.0°C (low = +45.0°C, high = +60.0°C)
    The fans are blowing at max speed, and the sensors are not providing information on fanspeed. I have found multiple threads on this topic, and tried the following:
    Turning OFF/ON the option "Fan always on while on AC power" .
    Passing the parameter "acpi_enforce_resources=lax" to the kernel via GRUB.
    That didn't help. If I list the modules and search for k10
    lsmod | grep k10
    k10temp 12588 0
    hwmon 12930 3 k10temp,adm1021,radeon
    It seems that k10temp is loaded and used to show the sensor temperatures.  On the fancontrol page of the ArchWiki, there were tips on increasing fan_div, but the problem was for me to find the chipset name.
    The reported chipset `adm-1021` is not available in `/etc/sensors3.conf`, only `adm-1025`. Also, what's up with
    Driver `to-be-written':
    result of `sensors-detect`? Is there any way to stop the fans from blowing at full speed for HP Compaq 615?

    I just tried turning ACPI off, by passing `acpi=off` kernel parameter in the /etc/defaults/grub:
    GRUB_DEFAULT=0
    GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
    GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="Arch"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="acpi=off"
    The fans were dead afterwards, but as the warning on the Acpi Modules Wiki Site states
    2. "Easy" Put acpi=off in the kernel line in your bootloader's configuration file, but that will kill all ACPI functionality like battery charging and power saving.
    killing all ACPI functionality for HP Compaq has left me without the synaptics touchpad and the keyboard. I found on the Ubuntu Community Wiki - Boot Options that `noacpi` shuold be equivalent to `acpi=off`. That sounded weird, so I checked The Kernel Documentation:
    acpi=        [HW,ACPI,X86]
                Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
                Format: { force | off | strict | noirq | rsdt }
                force -- enable ACPI if default was off
                off -- disable ACPI if default was on
                noirq -- do not use ACPI for IRQ routing
                strict -- Be less tolerant of platforms that are not
                    strictly ACPI specification compliant.
                rsdt -- prefer RSDT over (default) XSDT
                copy_dsdt -- copy DSDT to memory
                See also Documentation/power/runtime_pm.txt, pci=noacpi
    noacpi        [X86] Do not use ACPI for IRQ routing
                    or for PCI scanning.
    Seeing that the options are in fact different, I tried the `noacpi` thinking that "disabling the use of ACPI for IRQ routing or for PCI scanning" ( I have no clue what that means ) might just do the trick. So back to `/etc/default/grub`
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="noacpi"
    I updated the grub.cfg with
    grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    and removed:  acpid, Cpu Frequency Scaling, and I cleaned up `mkinitcpio.conf` of everything :
    # vim:set ft=sh

    rebuilt the kernel with `mkinitcpio -p linux` and rebooted. It seems to be working. What I don't know is why. Anyway, I wanted to post this in case someone comes across the same problem with HP Compaq <615> k10temp driver.  I still get the error
    /usr/bin/pwmconfig: There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed
    so I can only guess that for this specific laptop, there is an IRQ problem, and using `noacpi` solves it. This is the 6th time I've rebooted without hearing the fans at max, when I use the machine, the fan speed is adjusted for the tempereature, even without pwmconfig/fancontrol. My guess is that BIOS is doing it, if someone knows more about this stuff, I would like to hear abuot it. I'll use the machine for the next few days, if the fans behave properly, I'll mark the thread solved.

  • 2009 17" Macbook Pro fans running at max speed aafter hard drive upgrade.

    I recently picked up a 17" 2009 unibody MacBook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8ghz, 4gb RAM, SuperDrive and a Samsung 1TB hard drive. The system did not come with the original hard drive and I don't have any other hard drives to test and verify that the new larger hard drive is the cause. I have tried a clean install of Snow Leopard, Lion and even Mountain Lion but no matter what my fans always running at max speed (5k+ RPM). I have looked at iStat and the temps of any of the components in the machine never show more than 42*C so the fans should never be running at full blast. Oddly enough smcFanControl shows 0* temp but fan speds for both left and right are always 5.5k+ and very noisy. Using HDD Fan Control I am able to get at least the right fan to run at a controlable speed but its silence is drowned out by the left fan that still runs on full blast. I have already done multiple SMC resets and PRAM resets with no change in the condition. These noisey fans are driving me insane! I have run every available update as well. Is there a chance that the hard drive or something elses temp not being supported or detectable by OSX is causing the fans to default to the fail safe constant high speed?!

    Well your just a regular pirate. There is no Mountain Lion disks, it's not even out of Beta and avaialble to the public yet
    We thought you were just mistaken but now your tech handy enough to boot a Mac off a Linux live USB, so that means you've been bad and downloaded MT Lion off a P2P network or something.
    If your beta testing 10.8 your bound to secrecy and not allowed to be discussing it and posting this sort of question on this forum, but the other one.
    If you know anything, OS X must "talk" to the hardware or else the default setting is to race the fans. Linux doesn't do this by default as it's designed for generic PC's which a Mac may appear to be one it's not really. Apple only supports OS X and Windows 7 on Mac's, not Linux.
    Obviously something on your machine is SEVERLY messed up in hardware, likely a dead sensor, you bought a used lemon that someone didn't want to pay to get fixed.

                       DS-SFP-FC8 GLW over 9 Micron cable.
    It seems the SFP product data sheets do not provide this type of data.
    I currently have two 9148 switches running at 8Gbps
    TE link 1 is up and running at 8Gbps with 32 bb credits assigned to the port.
    TE link 2 will not stay online at any speed 2-8Gbps with 32 to 64 credits assigned. I'm fairly certain this is a DB loss problem becuase the problem follows the cable path.
    What I'm trying to resolve is how to determine what the max DB loss is over the link.
    I understand the max distance for Dark fiber is as follows: 1310nm  SMF 9.0 8.Gbps 10 km (6.2 mi)
    So when I talk to folks that analyze the cables I can be eductaed on what the max DB loss is.
    1310 SMF9.0 8.500 10 km (6.2 mi)
    DB loss is as follows for TE link 1

    I believe you run 'show interface fc x/y transceiver detail', it will provide the current light levels as well as the minimum and maximum limits.

  • ApEX Max speed on Comcast Cable

    Hi, I have just gotten Comcast cable. Set up went well - got it running off my Airport Express.
    The Cable speed is up to 6mb/s however I can only get max 3mb/s through the Airport. If I plug the modem directly into my powerbook I get almost 6mb/s.
    I have turned off all robustness, upped the multicast rate, turned off security (just to test), switched to .g only - nothing makes much difference.
    Has someone come across the same thing?
    Thanks

    My tests get me:
    3671 kbps with the AEX (via WiFi); the AEX is connected to the network via Ethernet through two hubs, and back to the cable modem and Airport Extreme access point.
    5431 kbps with the Airport Extreme (via WiFi); the AEM is connected directly to the cable modem via Ethernet.
    I have not yet figured out why there is a difference since the AEX and AEM each are hard wired to the network. I also have problems with slow loading Web pages though, and I think Safari, and/or 10.4.6 also are part of the problem. That said, I've also experienced Internet bandwidth fluctuations with Comcast and our service used to be much slower (consistently below 2000 kbps when at the time, it was supposed to be 4000). Try doing speed tests at different times of day for several days and keep a log.
    Remember cable modem bandwidth is shared with every Comcast customer in your neighborhood. I believe your Internet speed can vary with the number of Comcast Internet customers who are online simultaneously and possibly with the number of TV shows being viewed. I know that our Internet service stops cold whenever Comcast issues those Emergency Broadcast System "Amber" and "Weather" alerts through the TV. Make sure these issues aren't causing the slowdowns with uncontrolable coincidences during the testing...

  • How do I set-up my memory amount for max speed for FCP and Motion

    Hey all, I have a Dual 2.3 G5 with (8 Gigs) Ram. I'm working with a new client. I want to set up my memory or whatever else to provide MAXIMUM processing power for FCP and MOTION. Does anyone have any recommended settings. I've maxed-our RAM. My card is (ATI Radeon 9600-128MB of VRAM)
    Is there a setting in FCP that allows more processing power to be applied to that application ?
    Appreciate any replies

    Most of FCP's speed in performing functions is directly related to processor speed. The only way to increase performance would be to use a Mac with faster processors. Performance is also related to data throughput, so if you're working with high data rate video formats, a fast RAID and/or SATA (or eSATA) media storage solution would help.
    The exception to FCP performance is when rendering/processing FX Plugs; they are dependent on the power of the graphics card.
    Motion is mostly dependent on the power of the graphics card.
    There is no way that I'm aware of that you can speed up RAM. Having the extra RAM will just mean that you can successfully work with more applications open at the same time.

  • T400 with 5100N intel wireless only getting 72 MB max speed.

    I have a Airlink 101 150N router that works at full speed (150 MB) with all my other N adapters except my new T400 that has a 5100N wireless adapter.  It only gets 72 MB rate max at full signal strength.  Any suggestions?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Found the problem.  Under Device Manager/network adapter/5100, deselect Value/Use default value (20mhz) and set to Auto.  Works MUCH faster now and says 150 Mb.
