WRT54GL: Random spikes/DCs with Vent and WoW

Question

About a year ago I've changed from a wired to a wireless connection due to me moving to another apartment.
During the time on the wired setup I never experienced any problems but now I have a problem.
A couple of months ago I've started playing WoW again and I noticed a got random lag spikes where my game would freeze up for a few seconds and then play that time in a fast-forward kind of way. And it would also randomly disconnect at times. At first I thought it just had to do with just the game so I pretty much left it for what it was at that time. But recently I started using Ventrilo and that had the same problem where the whole thing would just time out for a few secs at the same time as wow so then I started thinking.
So now I'm sorta backtracking: Started with the tracing of both WoW and Vent servers which got me these results:

My latency on Vent has allways been fairly high (188 ms or somthing) but that has never been a problem before.
One of the hops on the WoW tracert is a bit higher then the rest but I don't think that would make everything time-out completely.
My OS is Windows Vista 64-bit. I've got that during the time I switched connections as well but I'm not sure if that would be a problem. I've switched off the firewall etc to be sure that wasen't the problem.I've checked and redid every setup O could think of but no result.
So if anyone has a solution for this problem it would be much appriciated.

4 Gb ram
Gforce 9800 GTX
DirectX 10
Connection Hardware:
ISP modem
Router: Linksys WRT54GL
Network Card: Sitecom 300N XT
I've also checked my network tab in the taskmanager and I see there that at steady intervals of like 30 secs orso my connection drops to 0% for a brief moment.

I have also noticed that when I look in the network tab of my task manager the network activity constantly drops to 0% for a brief moment at an interval of exactly 1 minute.
