WRT54GL randomly resets settings back to default

I've had my WRT54GL for a couple of months now, and it keeps wiping my saved settings and reverting back to the default. It works fine with all devices for a week or so after the initial set-up, then will only work on the system that is wired.
Thanks in advance for any help.

1. The WRT is bad. Replace the router. Configuration is cleared if the contents of the NVRAM gets corrupted. That happens with age or a bad chip. Either way, it needs to be replaced.
2. Try to make a small change to the configuration every week (or whatever time frame works). With each change the NVRAM is written again and it should refresh all cells. This may prevent the loss of configuration unless it's a bad chip...

  • How do I set the settings back to default?

Inherited my photoshop from previous employee.  How do I set the settings back to default like the keyboard shortcuts and anything else in the preferences?  Would like to do this without reinstal as finding the original disc will probably be a hassle.
    Thanks

you can reset the Photoshop preferences in the following way
Windows: Shift + Ctrl + Alt
Mac: Shift + Command + Option
Hold down the above keyboard combinations while starting photoshop.
You will be asked if you want to reset preferences -answer yes.

  • Macbook air settings back to default?

I opened my Macbook Air today and it had completely gone back to default settings. My e-mail wasnt set up anymore, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, etc were no longer installed, and I lost all my saved documents. The laptop had died 2 or 3 days ago so could that be why? Has this happened to anyone and if so what caused it?

Do you have other user accounts on this Mac?
I have not heard of Mac OS X resetting itself before, and certainly your files would not erase themselves unless you were using a guest account which does reset upon logout.

  • I accidentally reset Firefox back to default, can my mistake be undone?

I was troubleshooting on how to fix a problem with Firefox running extremely slow and somehow accidentally clicked on the Reset Firefox to its default state button. I lost all my saved passwords, user ID's, addon extensions, etc. Can this be undone? I've even tried to reset my computer back prior to a date with no luck. I have Firefox version 32 and run Windows 7 professional.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your

In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild

  • Photoshop CC 2014 reset settings itself to defaults!

Hello! I use Photoshop CC 2014 which is quite stable. But yesterday, for no apparent reason it reset ALL settings to defaults! All my brushes, actions, patters etc are disappeared! I have not updated because I do not have administrator rights so I don't understand how it happened. And Photoshop is not the only application from Adobe that dropped, as well Premiere, After Effects, Audition (also dropped remapped keyboard shortcuts, disappeared saved workspaces and may be something else I have not yet found). Now everything is like I just installed, and it my first start!!
    Why did this happen?
    how to restore all settings?
how to avoid it in the future?
    Please help me!

You have a permissions issue on your user folder or some system restore function put the original files back in place.

  • Putting the color settings back to default settings in Acrobat 9 Pro

    Hi there,
I installed a new color laser, and all of the colors were coming out dull. I went to the advanced settings on the print menu and clicked something, and the window allowing you to adjust the brightness / contrast / saturation, etc.. came up. I tried making things less bright, and that didn't work.
Anyway, make a long story short, turns out it was a driver problem. I fixed that problem, but now the colors are too dark. The problem is, I can't get back to the same window that lets me make those adjustments. How do I get back there, or, in the alternative, just completely reset acrobat? Thanks!!

Actually Graffiti it might be able to be done via 'touchup tool' without creating a new PDF. Assuming of course a photo editor like Photoshop is present.
To the OP: Acrobat is intended as final destination format and not really suitable for editing (although minor changes can be made with the full Acrobat product). It's always best to do the changes to the original document and then make a new PDF making sure you acknowledge proper version control procedures. Changing the PDF means that you now have a PDF that doesn't match the original document.

  • Restoring HP keyboard settings back to default

My "T" button broke, so I downloaded a software called SharpKeys so I can remap the "5" button to the "T" button.  However when I remaped it, now some of my shortcuts do not work such as Left CTRL + V, Left Shift + V ..  The right shift and ctrl shortucts work perfectly.  Even after I deleted the mappings and brought back the "5" button to its original functionality.. the shortcuts still don't work. Also when I turn on my laptop and prompted to enter my password, an uknown letter/number is being added to the password field constantly until i actually press on the field.
Is there a way to maybe restore the default registry or settings of my keyboard.
If there is no way to fix this up, I am replacing my keyboard anyway this Friday so maybe then the problem will be fixed?
Also I have found a weird file in the registry for the keyboard called LastDeleteDate, here is a screenshot http://prntscr.com/6nx8or .
    Thank you!!

Do not play with the registry.
Download Revo Uninstaller Free from this site which is secureto uninstally Sharpkeys.   I have used it many times for hard to uninstall programs completely.

  • Reset printer config back to default, want to reuse ePrint email address

    Hello,
I have an HP LaserJet 200 ColorMFP 276nw that I had associated to an ePrint email address.  I forgot what I set the Admin password to, so I had to reset the printer to default settings (turned printer off, pressed and held on the lower-left part of the touch screen, turned printer on until it read "Permanent storage init.").
Once that was done, I re-installed web services and added ePrint back to the printer.  Now I'm trying to use the same ePrint address that the printer had before, and I keep getting told that the address is already taken.
Is there a way to keep that address, or do I have to use a new one?
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hello Michael,
Thank you for joining the HP Support community.  I understand that you had to reset your Laserjet 200 and during the process lost your ePrint email address.
That ePrint email address will not become available again, you will need to use/create a new one. I'm sorry if this has caused any inconvenience.

  • HT201304 If I forgot my password is there any way to remove the restrictions and backup my iPod from the computer? I tried reseting it to factory defaults and then backing it up but it still has the restrictions on.

I'm trying to remove my restrictions, and i reset it to factory default, but everytime i back it up the restrictions are still on. I don't want to have to register as a new ipod and loose everything i've bought and added.

    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - If you are up to it see:

  • Why would settings on my router automatically revert back to defaults?

Have a Model BEFW11S4 V2 (OK, it's old), has been in service constantly since 2002.  I had WEP128 set up, had customized the name of the SSID, changed the admin password, had PPPoE specifics entered in, etc.  Was gone for a couple of days, came back, and found that my router had defaulted back to the factory defaults - the admin password was back to admin, WEP security was gone, PPPoE settings were gone, and the thing was broadcasting "linksys" as the SSID.
What would cause this?  Should I be concerned from a security standpoint?

Hello skyedog, the only concrete reasons why your router settings went back to default because you or someone might have press the reset button at the back of your router accidentally or did it on purpose...or someone might have access your router's web user interface and revert the settings from there..or just maybe plain firmware problem..
    Ok here's your solution.
    > download your router's firmware here.
    > reconfigure your router back. For Cable Internet Setup and for DSL Internet Setup
*Download your router's firmware first(make sure to select version 2) and update your router's firmware. After that just reconfigure your router settings. To avoid this problem, make sure not to press the reset button at the back and change your router password to something else so no one will be able to access the web UI of your router. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

  • Printer Queue Settings Mysteriously Reverting Back to Default Settings on 2008 R2 print servers

Printer Queue Settings Mysteriously Reverting Back to Default Settings on 2008 R2 print servers
We have 4 Windows Server 2008 R2 print servers, all of which has the same printer queues installed on them that are utilized by a 3rd party printing program that does a round-robin load balancing scheme.
All printers are a combination of HP and Xerox all running some variation of the HP UPD and the Xerox UPD.  Some use the PCL 5 and some use the PCL 6 version determined by age of printer and need.
There are typically two printer queues for each physical printer.
    Example:
    LOCATION_ROOM
    LOCATION_ROOM_TRAY2
The regular queue is ok being left with default setting,
The _TRAY2 queues are set to print to "labels" or "pre-printed" paper type or a specific tray.
From time to time, these _TRAY2 queues will revert back to a factory default state and lose the setting to print to a specific paper type or tray.  Sometimes it happens to the _TRAY2 queue on all 4 servers, sometimes just 1 server, etc.  No rhyme
    or reason.
Disabled Bi-directional options on both the HP and Xerox UPDs per another article on the internet that said bi-directional could cause the printer to send back settings to the driver and cause this issue.  Even with this option off, we continue to see
printer _TRAY2 queue settings revert back to factory default and lose their specific paper and tray settings.  We have ruled out the possibility that users or other technicians are the ones making these changes so we suspect it is some interaction between
the servers, printer drivers and printers themselves causing the issue.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'd start by using one of the print drivers included in Windows for a few of the printers and confirm it's the universal driver that is causing the issue.
HP installs some other processes and services on the machine which communicate with the HP devices.
PML and something else.  You might want to shut those down and see if these processes are the ones modifying the settings.
Run process monitor to truly identify which processes is causing the modifications.

  • Reset provider-specific properties back to default

Hello community, I could use some quick help with something.  I have changed the Description of an characteristic specific to a DSO (when in change mode in the DSO, right-click characteristic, select "Provider-specific properties", and change Description).  I now want to reset that back to the default characteristic description.
I have tried clearing the value in Description, but that doesn't work.  Any ideas how to do this?
    Thanks,
    Dustin

    Hi,
if not yet the saved the DSO after changing description it will show old description.
after save the DSO it will show the new description.
you want old description again go to change mode -> give the old description -> save.
    Thanks,
    Phani.

CS5 resorts back to default settings each time it is opened.  None of my preferances save.  Why not?

Then your preferences are not being saved.
Assuming you actually quit Photoshop (instead of shutting down the machine) - your preferences should be saved whenever you exit Photoshop.
Most likely your preferences folder has the wrong permissions and the preferences are not being written on exit.  What OS version are you using?
