WRT54GS how to get firmware

Hi WRT54GS V6 - My ISP said i needed to 1st update the firmware before it would be recognized (V6) - how do i do this if i am unable to connect to internet - because router is not working? If I access internet with only cable modem - how will router get the firmware update - YES - NEW to this - can you tell?
PLEASE help - very frustrated.

Please follow:
!.Connect directly on modem and download update to a known locaiton you your drive. You may have to unzip if it is compressed. but remember where that file is.
2.Plug into your router, logon on "admin" is default password.
3. Select the Administration area, and firmware upgrade.. you will have to browse to the file you downloaded. Make sure to let it finish and do not power off anything during the update process. When finished hold in reset button for 30 seconds, and then remove power to the router for 10 seconds or so.
4. log back to the router and do your setup.

WRT54G how to get a open NAT?

I have a WRT54G and it is not even possible to get a true open NAT with it for the xbox 360. I have tried port forwarding, DMZ, UPnP and just about everything else but nothign works. I can't seem to find a match of Call of Duty 4 online at all with the modem hooked up but as soon as i run it straight from the modem i find a match in like 3 seconds. Right now my 360 says open NAt but is not because i can't talk to friends or find matches so why does it says its open if it's not? Is there anyway or is this modem just garbage? I have seen alot of post regarding this problem with the WRT54G so i'm starting to this its a crap router. My router is version 6 by the way. Any help would be great thanks.

Ive opened up so many diffrent ports for it that i can't remember them all and yes i ahve set my MTU to 1365. So any other help maybe if anybody has this router and can get it to work with xbox live or mainly Call of duty 4. Maybe somebody could tell me why it says i have a open NAT when i obviously don't?

Hi Michael,
03.10.08 is a proven release. Many many sites around the world use this release even after two or more years.
If you are running 03.01.08 you are not using PowerKet encryption which is available without external devices for the RFGW1.
We have also enabled the RFGW1 to run 96 channels with proper licensing.
Most releases in the past two years have been for specialized applications generally assoicated with Encryption or data.
Most SDV applications today run 3.1.8 except again for some very special instances.
I would wait till mid October for the release of 6.1.0. Again this release will take the place / and incorporate all previous release features and several new features.

Hi. I just updated the Bluetooth on my iMac (OS X 10.5), but now each time I turn on my computer, this (annoying) message show up: Your computer's bluetooth firmware is up-to-date.
How to get rid of it?
I tried someone's suggestion to turn it off by going to System Preference > Account > Login Items, but it's not listed there..
Also, is there a way to use FaceTime on my iMac?

Hello, not sure about the Bloetooth thing, I have none, but it sounds like some file didn't get removed aftrt a BT update.

Unfortunately CleanMyMac is as harmful, if not moreso, than MacCleanse. These third party cleaning apps are considered 'crapware' and can harm your system beyond repair. If you cannot uninstall them completely, as appears, it may pay to backup your data, reinstall avericks and migrate your important data back. You can try posting an etrecheck report and perhaps someone can help narrow down what you need to trash from all the areas that these programs have infected.

How to get a Mad Catz R.A.T 3/5/7 to work on Arch Linux

This post isn't about me asking for help. Instead it is a post about how to get a Mad Catz R.A.T. 3/5/7 mouse working. I'm posting this for future Archers who have bought one of these mice. They're a good mouse product but unfortunately there is a weird bug in the mouse's firmware that makes it "lose focus" on a desktop or "locks" your cursor into the middle of your screen seemingly at random. Your mouse might also fail to click on things in a window or on a desktop. It took me the better part of a day and a half to find the answers to fix this behaviour. I couldn't find anything on this forum so I'm posting this for future Archers. I am not the originator of the solution so I will post the relevant information from others' posts from two different web sources. If you're interested in the technical aspects of why this behaviour is present in this type of mouse please scroll down.*
The problem as summarised by the guy at Delightfully Linux:
if you plug in the mouse without modifying xorg.conf, the buttons become unresponsive and the Ubuntu desktop will appear to have locked up even though the cursor still moves. This is the same issue with the black R.A.T. 7, and it has the same solution.
He gives you one way to fix this:
Put the code below into /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "Mouse Remap"
MatchProduct "Saitek Cyborg R.A.T.7 Albino" #change this if you need to by using input-list to generate the correct product code

That button remapping full of zeroes will not let you use the side scroll button or the red button.
However, another person posted a comment to Delightfully's blog who claimed that his code (below) will enable all of the R.A.T.'s buttons. I have tried it and it enabled my side scroll wheel for a few minutes. It did not last and I have no permanent fix at this time. If someone else does have a fix for the other two "buttons" on the mouse please post it!
The code which supposeldy enables all of the mouse's buttons is here:

One final note: It seems that this mouse (on my rig at least) is incapable of scrolling in text boxes (such as the one I'm using to post this). I don't know why this behaviour is present but it was not like this, prior to using the previously written code that is, and I don't know if it is also fix-able. It sounds like you destroyed your boot partition and the recovery partition. Depending on it's age, your MacBook Air might be able to do a net boot. Plug and ethernet connection into it and attempt to boot. If it has the right firmware, it will find a net boot configuration on the net and boot that. Then it will give you a Recovery Partition like display and allow you to reinstall the OS X version that came with it.... assuming that it was Lion or ML. If your computer came with Snow Leopard, then even the net boot won't work.
At that point you need a bootable USB Key, or an external DVD drive AND a Snow Leopard installation DVD.
An Apple Store, if there is one nearby, MAY be able to get you going again. However, whatever is on the SSD now will be toast too.

As you can see, the FM radio capability is limited to specific model BBs that are running the proper OS level...your model, according to your profile, is not eligible for the true FM radio app, as your model does not have, physically inside of it, the proper FM radio receiver...no amount of firmware, OS, or software can overcome a physical limitation.

Which version of the WRT54G do you have? If it is not clearly stated on the router, go to Wikipedia.org and search for WRT54G, then you can use your router's serial number to determine which version of the router you own.
The version of the router is important. Each version has a different set of hardware in it, so each version takes a different firmware.
You can only load the firmware that corresponds to your model and version.

Opening Ports, how to get more than 10 slots

Hello. My Router is a WRT54GS running the latest firmware. I am trying to set my 360 up for Media Sharing using Windows Media Centre. To do this, I have to open up 5 ports in total. I already have 3 slots taken up by the PS3, two for IRC and 1 for utorrent. This leaves me with 4 slots left for ports. I know I can use a range to join some together, but as the PC, PS3 and 360 use different IP's, it means each need there own ports opening. Is there a way, if I need to in the future, to give me more slots to open more ports? Also, when trying to open a range of ports for the 360, some are the same as the PS3, and I get the error message "port overlap occurred! Please change your entry!" Does this mean, if a port is open for one IP, in this case its the PS3, and is 192.168.1.123, it'll also be open for another ip, the 360, which is .1.102 Hope I've made sense. Cheers Mike

One port can be forwarded to only one local IP address. And you can combine nearby port entries into a range which are for same local IP address.

Tried DFU mode?
To do this follow these instructions:
    1. First, Open up iTunes, plug in your iPod Touch/iPhone to the Computer's USB port. Turn on your Computer's speaker and make sure it is loud enough that you can hear it.
    2. Hold down the Home button (top left for iPod Touch and top right for the iPhone with the screen facing you) and the Power button (located on the front bottom of your iPod Touch/iPhone) simutaneously, until the screen goes black and the device turns off. (past the red slider/slide to power off screen)
    3. Now let go of the Power button, but continue to hold the Home button. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should have turned off and the screen should not be on.
    4. After around ~10-20 seconds, you will hear a noise (beep/ding) from your Computer as if it had just recognized a new hardware device, now iTunes should recognize it in DFU mode.
    5. After iTunes recognizes the iPod Touch/iPhone, let go of the Home button otherwise it will go into recovery mode and you will have to do the entire DFU process over again.
    6. You will know when you have put your iPod Touch/iPhone correctly into DFU mode when the display is blank and that you do not have anything on your device.
Once you have done this click restore and iTunes sould start to dowbnload and install the latest firmware.
#Please note this will reset your iDevice to factory settings
