WRT54GS network assistance needed! Help!

I really need some help understanding network terms. I just setup my WRT54GS using tips I collected from these forums. I changed the IP address to 192.168.2.1 and cloned the MAC address to my PC. My main PC has my DSL modem>WRT54>PC LAN which connects perfectly to the internet. This is where my problems/network understanding starts. I have SSID name and WEP security setup using the router. Other than internet none of my other 2 computers wireless (Laptop& a HTPC) are recognized for file/printer sharing amongst the entire group. All computers have file/printer sharing enabled. I have run the network setup wizards on the PC many times and named it differently each time for ID purposes. I enabled security on some and left others disabled, but no where on the PC can I find where these networks exist. In addition when I turn on my laptop I
find most of the networks I created as available connections. My main PC doesn’t see my linksys nor will find my HP Ethernet printer connected to the WRT54. Please help!

Disable all the firewalls on the computer even the windows firewalls and make sure that the workgruop is same for all the computers.

Trying to connect to xbox live using my home network, I need help.

I have a xbox 360 that I want to connect to xbox live with, using my home network. Every time I try to connect to xbox live the only part that fails is the connecting to xbox live part. This is how my network is set up. I have Cox Cable as my ISP, a Linksys WCG200 gateway(v2), and WRT54GS(v7). The cable wire is connected to the WCG200 gateway, then an Ethernet cable connects the gateway to the WRT54GS router, and finally an Ethernet cable connects the router to my xbox 360. I have contacted Cox, Linksys, and Microsoft about the situation and they all say the problem is the version of the router. Someone told me that I may just need to change the firmware, but I don't know how to do that. If anyone could tell me what the problem is and hopefully how to fix it, it would be much appreciated.

u might to open port numbers 88 and 234 on your router
here's how to open ports
1: open IE and on the address bar, type in 192.168.1.1 and hit enter
           USERNAME: ( leave it blank )
           PASSWORD: admin ( all in lowercases )
2: click on the tab " applications and gaming "  then click on the SUBTAB port triggering.
3: you can just name the application like, box or whatever and fill in 88 for each of the boxes in the first line
4: same goes to application number 2 but you have to put 2304 for each of the boxes and pls do not forget to enable it, then save settings
5: Teset the xbox if it's now working.
6: if still not working, go to the SECURITY tab and uncheck the bock that says, " block anonymous internet requests and save settings.
7: teset xboox agan and if it still won't work
8: go to the SET UP tab and look for MTU.
9: set it to manual and lower down the size by 10.( by default, it's 1500. )→ save settings.

WRT54G huge problem NEED HELP! FAST!

I puchashed my WRT54G router about two weeks ago and connected it to my network and connected my xbox and xbox live to it. i noticed the live wasn'tworking as well as it should and found that i needed to open some NAT ports and update my firmware. While updating my firmware the interet page expired and i'd assume it didn't update, then i lost connection to live and the internet. It said on linksys advisor that the network had changed. So i tired to reinstall the router and it would'nt work. i made sure all the plugs were in the correct spot also, and even tried resetting the router but still no dice, and the big problem is i can't even view the router on that i.p website thing!!
p.s. i haveverizon internet and have a westell 1600 modem

verizon , ur modem is not really a modem . its a router/modem .
its already giving u an ip address in the same DHCP range as of the router . i.e: 192.168.1.xx
u need to just plug in ur router to computer , uninstall the easy link(wont be of any gud in verizon connection ,and its buggy as well ).
once router is connected to computer from port no.1.2.3or 4 ..any one .
Push the reset button on router for 30 seconds ..den unplug the power cable and plug in the power cable after 20 seconds.
then try to log into the routers web user interface - 192.168.1.1
see if it opens?
if yes
then ull find A local ip address option there- change it to - 192.168.7.1
and save settings .after saving the settings u might again kicked off from internet or set up web user interface.
then again , unplug the computer cable from router , and Power from router
wait for 20 seconds , now plug the verizon / westell into back of the router's into internet port as well.
power cycle.
lights should be like -power/wlan/1/internet - on router.
try to go online .
if it works ....let me know the status ?

Hp laserjet 4015 network issue need help

hello and sorry if you all seen this already, i did this post yesterday but its not showing up and my info is not showing i did the post.
ok here's the deal. i have a hp laserjet p4015n printer. right now its connected to a network and every pc thats on the network can see it and print to it etc.
however the current internet package is too expensive and i am planning on doing away with the current provider and goign with a different one. but i have to give them back the equipment.
so i am trying to get everything set up before i do that and i am having problems.
i can get everything else working just fine regardless of what router i use and on both the old slower brother printer is found and can print just fine but the hp printer refuses to be recognized.
i have two routers i have tried this with
a belkin n600
linksys wrt54g
with the linksys router when the printer is connected to it it shows as a device is connected as the light lights up solid but nothing i do can get the printer installed.
i can not ping the route either.
its connected to the router via an ethernet cable
the pcs on the network mostly use win 7 but one is using windows vista but none can install the printer.
i've tried installin gusin ghte host name and ip address
tried using hp's installation software but it just don't find the printer.
this is all driving me nuts and any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only ones who can unlock your iPhone is your phone company/carrier.
You need to contact them and if they offer unlocking for your phone then ask them to unlock it and if they don't, there is nothing you can do. In this case, you either need to purchase another phone that is fully and officially unlocked or you need to continue to use your phone with your current operator.
Contact your phone comapny/carrier directly - they are the ONLY ones who can help you.

Guest ldom network issue - Need help please

I have a T4-4 sparc server and the SO is Solaris 11...
We have 2 Qlogic/Sun FcOE 10Gb cards
Network is configured as follows:
1. The two ethernets are aggregated
2. Created Vlana dn have vlan id
3. vswitch is presented to the guests as vsw0 and vsw1.
After configuring the guest's network, guest can not reach the default gateway.
Any help is appriciated. ( all the guests are Solaris 11)

We'll need some data... Could you please post the output from the following commands (in the control domain):
ldm -V
ldm list
ldm list -l
ldm list-services
And from both guest domains and the control domian, please issue:
dladm show-phys
dladm show-link
ipadm show-if
ipadm show-addr
netstat -r
ifconfig -a
That will show the network configuration so we can see what's up. Also - did you plumb the vsw onto the physical interface? That was done with Solaris 10 control domains, but is no longer needed.

You're going to need to be more specific. What exactly are you not able to access? what happens? has it ever worked? can you access the internet? do you get any errors?
If you cannot access the internet at all on your phone, chances are you do not have the correct data plan on your account and you should contact your carrier for assistance.

WRT54GS v1.1 NEED HELP WITH FIRMWARE!

'ello, I am sick and tired of getting disconnected by my linksys router and i did smoe research and it appears to be a malfunction in the firmware. Now this is the real problem... I went and i found a Tomato firmware for me and I used winzip to extract the correct file i needed but it is continousily failing. So can someone pelase tell me exactly how to download this firmwar. PLEASE HELP!

You can hold down Shift on your keyboard and click on Restore. This will allow you to restore to a different version of the firmware if it's already been downloaded.
The firmware files are stored in this location:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
It's highly recommended to use the iPhone with the latest version of firmware released.

JUST BOUGHT WRT54G LINKSYS ROUTER, NEED HELP WITH SET UP PLEASE!

I've tried everything to get my WRT54G to work but no matter what I do I can't get past step ten on the CD. It asks for my password and when i type and confirm type it then press next it comes up with, Router Configuration Error. Would you like to try again?
I've been stuck at this for over two hours now, please help me

I had the same problem this past weekend. The CD is the problem. It is much easier to go to www.linksys.com/connect and first update the firmware (if applicable), and then use the EasyLink Connect tool. I works very well.

Network Settings: Need Help!

Hi people,
I have an older iMac I'm playing with.
I have a Verizon FiOS connection, but am using airport to connect to Verizon's router. (There are two other computers using this network).
On my other systems, my duplex setting is always at half duplex.
But on this machine and this Verizon router, my Duplex setting always reverts to Full-Duplex.
Is this a problem that slows my system down? Or is this the correct setting for Verizon's Routers?
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Full duplex is faster than half duplex. It has nothing to do with your particular router. Duplex is part of the communications protocols. See this article.

Newb here has been put in charge of a small company network. Need help!

I'm new to ARD, but well versed in Macs and OSX. A friend's family has a small company and the head honcho uses ARD to monitor the other Macs at the office from her iMac running 10.6.3 there at the office, as well as from home using another iMac and a Macbook Air. I was asked to help and am well paid to figure out ARD for them. They booted their last IT guy, by the way. So the boss's Macbook Air and her Office iMac are the Administrators, and the iMac at home is the client. All machines running 10.6.3 and latest ARD 3.3.2 Admin and Client s/w.
For whatever reason I can only control or watch the office iMac from the iMac at home, and cannot access the home iMac from the office.
For the record, the Macbook Air does not have this same issue, but I've yet to tackle it.
When I double click the office iMac from the Home iMac and look through the tabs, I am told the Client s/w on that office iMac is an old version.
I have read the white papers and watched the Apple videos. This just doesn't make sense!
What is going on? Any hints? Please......

FIXED! However........
The home iMac "supposedly" has a fixed IP address. Well, it wandered a bit apparently so there was a small change at the ISP that threw everything off. I looked into an email sent from that machine's user and displayed the long header to get the IP address of the home iMac. I then entered that new IP address into ARD from the office iMac, and BAM, works like a charm now!
What I can't figure out is why the ARD on home iMac says the office iMac is running 10.5.8, when it is running 10.6.3 and it also says the office ARD client is 3.2.X rather than the actual 3.3.2 it is indeed running. Weird?
Any ideas? Maybe everything will update once I use ARD from the home iMac into the office iMac?

I setup a Cisco Home Network and Need help Logging into It

Hello, I have four 2521 routers and three 2954 switches. I connected my ISPs modem from the ethernet port and plugged it into port 24 of one of my switches. I also configured the switch for VTY access and gave it a login password. I would like to log into the switch to configure it and telnet into all the other devices from a remote location. But I am unable to ping the public address assigned to me by my ISP. So I can't even telnet to the switch. Help

With help from elsewhere, I have learned how to change the colors and figured out a few other things. I have another question, though.
I want to put a Twitter widget and a comment box on my website. I have the widget code from Twitter, but it is HTML and javascript or something. Can I just put these codes into the modules of the flash template? If you look at the template, you should see that it has modules that have editable HTML text areas, but I don't know if it is limited to text or something, or if it will function correctly if I put other HTML codes in it such as script codes, etc in it.
Also, if that works, does anyone know where I can get a code to put the comment box in one of the modules? I don't mean a contact box, I mean a widget where people can leave comments and the comments display on the page, like on a myspace profile. Just something simple that allows a visitor to leave a name and a text-only comment. I would also like to be able to selectively delete comments in case of spammers, etc.

IPS network Module, need help!!!

Folks,
I recently installed IPS network module in my 3662 router. I am having problems making the IPS log anything.
When i access the web interface of the IPS, i see only 1 interface available under virtual sensor, the interface is fast 0/1. and the media type it shows is Backplain.
I am confused, i thought that fast 0/1 on the IPS network module was the management interface??? on the IPS?
Why don't i see another interface that is connected to the backplain of the switch???

There are 2 interfaces on the NM-CIDS.
In version 5.0 they are called:
FastEthernet0/0 and FastEthernet0/1
FastEthernet0/0 is the external copper interface that you can plug a cable in to. It is the command and control port for managing the NM-CIDS. It can not be used for monitoring (can not be applied to the virtual sensor)
FastEthernet0/1 is the backplane interface. It receives packets from the router for monitoring. This is the interface that should be applied to the virtual sensor.

Installing WRT54g v5.0 need help MAJORLY please!!!

I'll start with this, unless you can give me a 100% step by step walkthrough in easy to understand terms as to how to use the browser thing where you type the IP into the web browser, please DO NOT SUGGEST that method.
I've tried multiple settings multiple times, and I still can't get anything through.
At this point I'm just really bothered, especially when I look and see that some products have a quick install, and for whatever reason, this particualr version does not have one.
What I need is a way to install this WITHOUT the disk, because I just tore my office a new one searching for it, with no success.
Please, please, PLEASE lend me a hand, I'm about to give myself a heart attack I'm so upset and confused right now.
