WRT54GS Not detected on setup

I went through all steps as directed but it will not detect my router. All lights are on (power,WLAN,1, Int) and the internet works fine on this computer. I tried to use easylink connection but it also said it could not detct the router. I have a 2wire DSL modemand it is working fine. I bought the linksys router because I couldn't get my US robotics access point to work anymore. Now my wife is really after me because she thinks I ruined two routers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like I do have 2 local connections with 2 different IP addresses. This is what I got from the prveious directions
Thanks

  • WRT54g not recognized during setup

I am trying to setup the WRT54G wireless router but for some reason the computers will not recognize it.
I tried the routers page 192.168.1.1 and that did not work. I tried easy link and that could not detect the router. When i use the CD it give me a router error during the checking status state of the setup.
any ideas on what the problem could be?
    thanks

    To worm1028  ---
You need to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • EA3500 not detected during setup

I got a linksys n750 smart wifi router(EA3500) to use with a scientific atlanta cable modem. Originally I had tried to set it up on my girlfriends laptop but because setup REQUIRES wifi, it failed. (the wifi on that laptop is faulty.) It got up to 85% completed including having set up the SSID and passwords. but failed to set up the internet connection. So I tried to set it up with my laptop instead. I unplugged both the modem and router for more than 5 minutes each and then began the setup. It reached 25% and then claimed to not be able to detect a linksys router. However, I checked my taskbar and it said I was connected to the router under the SSID i had set up previously. So I tried the "I have set up my router and want to connect to it" option, I entered the SSID and PW  but it still could not connect. I used the reset button on the router to hopefully restore it to factory defaults. Now when I try setup it doesnt have the SSID tthat had previously been set( the router is now identified as "Cisco 00259" or something like that) but it still fails at 25%. It still says it can't detect a linksys router. What is going on. I know the Wifi works on this laptop. I have cycled the modem and router enough times to be sure that is not the problem. How do I get past this?

Setup should not require wifi. Connect to the router with a ethernet cable and try it again. If the setup doesn't work try logging in to the router with a browser at 192.168.1.1 and set it up manually. The password will be 'admin' without the quotes.

  • Solution who encounter 'Setup does not detect Sound Blaster .....' error msg during installat

For those who encounter 'Setup does not detect sound blaster audio in the system' error upon installing from the installation CD. You can try the steps below that work for me. It seems Windows have lock on to the sound card with an incorrect ID thus the installation CD are not able to correctly identify the card. Be sure to do a backup copy of the registry first incase something goes wrong since we are editing the registry.
. Go to Start-Run and type in 'regedit' to start the registry editor application.
    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\P CI.
    3. You should see listing with 'VEN....'. Expand them by clicking on the + icon and then see if it's listed as unknown or Creative related stuff. Keep note of them.
    4. Right click on those 'VEN......' listing that you have noted earlier and select full permission. Ensure that full control are selected. Now delete all those listed as unknown or Creative related stuff.
    5. Exit registry editor and reboot. Try using the installation CD again.
    Hope it hel

I have a perfectly good wi-fi setup but it will not detect my Aiport Express no matter what aI try. Help!

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
    Error 1600, 1601, 1602
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.

  • Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card on your system

    Hi from Barcelona!
I've a Soun Blaster Audigy card (Model: SB0090)
I tried to install the Audigy software and drivers from the original product CD but Setup was unable to find Augigy hardware and halted the installation!
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster card on your system. Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program"
By the way. Manually the sound drivers can be installed working only front speakers of the 5. Creative system
I tried a clean installation of Windows XP and Windows 2000 PRO (reformatted the hard dri've) but Audigy install CD still could not find Audigy hardware.
I've changed the card to a different PCI slot with the same results!!! Damaged?
What is happening? I need a solution!! Many users have this problem to with other Sound Blaster cards and models...

    ADSLNEW wrote:
It seems to be an important BUG of Creative Sound Blaster Audigy cards related with EEPROM!!!
Yes, indeed, that is my theory as well. After much ****hing and on-line research, it seems that this problem has been around since 2002. From Creative Labs point of view, it appears they view this as "pilot error" -- the user has installed the card in a system that is not fully compliant with the latest standards -- specifically Microsofts ACPI (configuration and power management). A wide variety of configurations and/or actions seem to cause the PCI subsystem ID in the Audigy EEPROM to be erroneously overwritten -- including certain older motherboards, certain older PCI cards, and perhaps other actions.
Once the subsystem ID in the EEPROM is overwritten and has garbage information, many or all of the Creative applications cease working and various sound problems can arise. Attempts to reinstall the driver or update to the latest driver consistently fail becuase of the dreaded "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card in your system..." error message.
There appear to be four fixes:
) Get a replacement Audigy card from Creative, but <EM>only</EM> after you perform their prescribed troubleshooting steps to prove that the card is indeed the source of the problem. Apparently, the steps include installing the card in another PC. Apparently, Creative in Europe is more willing to replace your card than Creative in the US. It's up to Creative Labs whether or not they issue you an RMA ("Return Material Authorization").
However, this fix will fail if the root causes of the EEPROM error are not corrected. Apparently, Creative Tech Support isn't always a foolproof source of guidance, so the burden is on you. The root cause MUST be corrected before the new card is installed, or the same problem will happen all over again. Eliminating the root cause may involve replacing your motherboard, replacing other PCI cards, or manual configuration (disabling ACPI).
    2) Reprogramming the EEPROM. This is for advanced PC owners only, because it involves desoldering the EEPROM, programming it, and resoldering (and even lifting some pins to prevent reprogramming). There are instructions on how to do this posted in the German Creative Labs discussion board, by a Russian (!). I have links for those who are interested.
    3) Removing the Creative drivers and software (using Clean Sweep procedures and third party utilities), updating again using Windows XP SP2, then physically moving the card to different PCI slots (multiple times if necessary), until ACPI Bios writes the proper information into the EEPROM. You can then reload the drivers.
Again, the root causes of the problem must be removed or your fix will only be temporary (a day or two). This solution also seems to be very dependent on the specifics of your system (motherboard, PCI cards, etc.).
    4) Some people have had success in by-passing the step in the driver installation process where they check for the Audigy card subsystem ID, using a utility called CTZAPxx on the installation CD. Then then manually install each of the applications they need to use.
    5) Use the open source driver from the kX Project (http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php). This driver (and associated utilities) does not depend on the detailed configuration of the card (i.e. they don't check subsystem ID) and appear to work fine even with cards with corrupted EEPROM.
This driver is aimed primarily at computer music applications, and opens up the on-card signal processing capabilities. The downside is that the Audigy 2 ZS does not have all of it's capabilities supported <EM>yet </EM>(e.g. Dolby Digital decoding, S/PIF passthrough, possibly some game sound features, THX, 24-bit recording, support for Hyperthreading CPUs, etc.). But scanning over the discussion boards, the user community seems to be MUCH happier with the performance and support associated with these drivers than with Creative's.
This is the direction I'm going. I'm not a big gamer and I don't really care about the latest in home theater audio performance. Basic 5. surround sound is all I care about, and I'm much more interested in computer music capabilities.
I have also lost faith in Creative Labs as a vendor to provide the support I want and need going forward. Just imagine if the Creative Labs were running the Space Shuttle program :smileysurprised:.

I think you understand english good enough (som ni alla svenskar brukar g?ra (b?ttre ?n vi finskar i alla fall)) so I just give a link to another thread on this forum.
This issue you're having, is quite common for Creative Audigy carrds (perhaps with OEM models mostly) if you just search this forum.
You can use those instructions to get some drivers installed to your card. Install drivers first and then all the Creative software you need.
You need WinRar being installed into your system to get driver package extracted. You can download it from http://www.winrar.de/edownload/winrar.html

  • "Setup could not detect................

..............any Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS on your system."?Just installed this card in my Dell 8400. Windows detects new hardware, I cancel out, and run the SB installation disc. It says "setup could not detect blah blah blah". I was runninig with onboard sound before installing the card. I disabled onboard sound in the BIOS, but didn't uninstall the SoundMax drivers. I tried the Search function here, and didn't find anything I thought would help. If windows knows it's there why doesn't SB detect it's I've tried reseating, different slots, etc., same problem every time. HELP!

There is a free Windows tool for checking what's installed on the PCI bus. If the sound card wasn't detected then it needs re-inserted or moved to another PCI slot.

  • Setup could not detect any soundblas

I have an audigy 2 SB card. Prior to a month ago, it worked fine. My motherboard blew a gasket, and I replaced it with an ABIT VT7. After installing the audigy 2 card on the new MB, the card seemed to work, although it seemed to have a conflict with my video card (an ati 8500 all-in-wonder) which it didn't have before changing motherboards. In an effort to solve that problem, I uninstalled all my video and audio drivers and started over (among other things), and I decided to install my soundblaster drivers first. I decided to start with the original disk and then automatically update. And here's what happens.
When I boot, the computer detects a multimedia controller. I "Cancel", thinking that I will install that via the CD-ROM. When I go to install the drivers, I get the following message: "Setup could not detect any Soundblaster audio card on your system." Please ensure that your Soundblaster hardware is properly installed," etc.
This seems like a contradiction - it is clear that the computer plug-in-play knows it's there, so why can't I install the drivers? I've done searches for this problem and cannot find a solution anywhere.
By the way, my uninstallation of the old drivers included (i) removal of the card and (ii) uninstallation using CTZAPXX.exe on the CD-ROM.
I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. I guess the question is whether the card has burned up.

  • Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy 2 on your Sys

Here's the deal. I have used my Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum without incedent for a long time with the following box:
    Asus A7V333
    XP 800
    .5 GB DDR 2700
I changed cases, but all of the components remained the same. Everything else went like clockwork, but no Audigy.
So I did a clean and replace of the drivers, however, I had no Audigy CD. I ordered the CD from Creative, but it looks to be a CD for the Audigy 2 XS...will this work for the Audigy 2 Platinum?
So when I go to run the CD, I get the following error:
Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy on your system.
Please ensure that your Sound Blaster Hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program
    Setup will now exit.
I didn't change slots and the IRQ is still the same.
I can provide any additional documentation, i.e. screen shots of device manager, et al. to anyone interested in helping.
Also, if you li've in Chicago, I will get you drunk.
I am so irritated with this thing... I remember it being a pain in the @$$ to install the first time, but not like this.
    Cheers,
    -rob

Okay I ended up fixing this problem myself seeing as a lot of these forum topics just come to a dead end with no real resolution.
    Let's get 'Creative' ...
I removed the reg entry hkey_local_machine/software/creative tech, removed all drivers, programs, and anything that even smelt faintly of creative.
Just to make sure I ran the CTZAPXX.exe on the cd and removed drivers again there also.
Then upon a swift reboot I used CTZAPXX.exe to install the drivers, ran the cd, unchecking the option at the bottom of the 'custom' install list to install windows drivers (as it had already been done)
    Now I'm back in business
Though, all through the ages I've never had a creative soundcard, which hasn't given me trouble at some stage, man I even have shameful memories of my AWE64... Lift your game creative, you've got a great product line, just a pity the shoddy drivers sometimes let them down.
This post may be a little outdated, but it's really intended for all you googlers out there I really hope this fixes your problem!

What is the IP address you are getting on this PC? Check if you can ping to this router with its IP address (default IP: 192.168.1.1) if not then try resetting it for 1 min by pressing the reset button. Once you get the ping then you can try configuring the router.

    Hello Partii,
It sounds like you may use a POP account for your email.  With a POP account, email applications like Mail and Outlook can remove emails from the server, so when another device tries to check the server for new emails, it doesn't see any.
You may need to adjust settings in Outlook so that the emails are not removed from the server when downloaded.  I found an article with more information:
When using a POP email account with multiple devices, email messages may only appear on the first device that receives them. This occurs when an email client is configured to automatically remove email from the server once an email client has received it. You can configure your email client (or clients) either to keep a copy of the email on the server, remove it after a certain number of days have passed, or keep it until you move it from your Inbox.
I recommend reviewing the full article for steps on adjusting these settings; you can find the full article here:

  • WRT54GS Can not detect the router

We lost the internet connection a few days ago for a couple of hours and since then had to reset the modem and when I try to set up the router with the Easy Link Advisor I get can not detect the router.  I am using the router to access the internet and it can't be detected???
I have powered it off enough times and then some and need to get this running to use the laptops.
I am running ver 7 firmware that it came with but I don't know what the exact version I am running or gor that matter where to find it.
    Thanks

okay went through the firmware upgrade and installed it through 192.168.1.1 to admin tab and upgrade. it got to the reboot part and hung there for a bit, i hit continue or what ever it said and came back upwith a dns error and page unreachable. version installed is what i downloaded 7.50.5. i am still having the same problem, all the lights are lit that are suppossed to be lit, and i am on the internet and running through the router, and when i go into easylink advisor and start the setup process i have to go through the entire thing including selecting the router (which it should know what router it is) though removing the power cord and waiting and still told that it can not detect the router. i have no idea where to go from here. thanks!

  • "Setup did not detect the required components. Setup will exit." !?!?!?

I have a retail Audigy 2. Autoupdate recognizes my card and gives me the available list of drivers and applications for download. I download the following:
    ) Audigy 2 Drivers
    2) Audio Console
    3) EAX Console
    4) Speaker Settings
    5) Surround Mixer
The ) Drivers and the 2) Audio console installs just fine. However, for each of the three remaining programs (3, 4, & 5 listed above) upon executing the downloaded file they all give me a pop-up window that says:
?Setup did not detect the required components. Setup will exit.
This happens with all three of them. I want to install these because I am of the understanding that one of these contains the ?Speaker channel test? (for lack of a better word) that will test if my speakers are hooked up correctly to the right channels. The ) drivers, and 2) Audio console do not have that test. I created another post concerning this but nobody has replied:

I also tried unzipping the three executable files with WinRAR, and then executing the Setup.exe files but it yields the same results.
Anyone know why I can't install these applications?!?!?!?!
I swear, I have never had so many problems with a particular brand of product than I have with Creative products?.yet I keep buying them anyway?.sheesh?.Message Edited by Bridgeboy on -30-2005 05:0 PM

I have retail Audigy 2 card. tryed removing the card and installing on a differant slot. Nothing Works! it produces the same "no audigy 2 card found - setuip will now exit" Creative sould be ashamed thanks
    Yes, Creative should be ashamed.
This is a known problem that has been around for months and they have failed to address, just like many other problems with their soundcards. For the solution to this particular problem, look here:

If you would reread my original post in this thread, that solution did not work for this particular problem of mine. I have a SoundBlaster Li've! Card that this solution worked for, however it does not work of the Audigy 2 card?unzipping the files with WinRar and then running the Setup.exe files produces the same result?setup does not recognize the required components and will close.
I?m not saying that the person who you quoted should not try it though.
