WRT54GS relocated from US to Switzerland
Hi,
I have an old WRT54GS (version 1) that I've used in the States and have now taken with me to Switzerland. I'm having a difficult time getting it to work over here. I've reset it several times and gone through the set up, I've updated the firmware, reset it again but stil no luck. I've followed several tutorials on how to reset the system but I think I've finally hit a wall.
My computer connects fine to the internet when wired to the internet router, but no luck with a wireless connection to the Linksys router or even when hard wired to the Linksys
Could it be that it just won't work overseas? I can't imaging that to be the case but you never know.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It's a router which also uses 192.168.1.* IP addresses like your WRT. You can't connect the WRT without reconfiguration directly to the Motorola.
You have two options:
1. You reconfigure your Motorola into "bridge" mode. In bridge mode it operates like a standard modem would do. You then configure PPPoE (if your ISP uses PPPoE) on the WRT and have a direct internet connection on the WRT.
2. You use the Motorola as your internet router and use the WRT as simple wireless access point and ethernet switch. For this, you wire a single computer to the WRT while it is not connected to the Motorola. Open the web interface of the WRT at http://192.168.1.1/ On the main setup page, change the LAN IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 and disable the DHCP server. Save settings. Disconnect the computer. Wire one of the numbered LAN ports to the Motorola. Now you can use the wireless and the remaining 3 LAN ports on the WRT for network devices.

I've owned my WRT54GS router for nearly three years and had initially bought it as a wired router (with an option to go secured wireless later), but I'm used to thinking that wireless was primarily for laptops and notebooks (even though I've actually used wireless-enabled desktops before in independent coffeshops).
However, something happened that changed my tune about desktops and wireless.
A friend of the family has been having issuesd with his new Vista Home Basic-powered wireless-enabled desktop (Linksys wireless router and USB adapter combo) and brought the computer and adapter (but not the router) to me for a checkup. Since I was already running Vista on my own computer, and also had a wireless Linksys router (albeit one used strictly as a *wired* router), I figured I'd give the router and adapter a test and see how easy it would be to connect.
Since I left the *wired* connection up so I could get some settings from the router's admin pages, it was depressingly easy to convert this previously wired-only PC to a true secure wireless (WPA no less) desktop, using nothing more than what's included in Vista. Six mouse-clicks (and a copy-and-paste) later, and I was done.
Old (four years old) PC, three year old router, gone secure and wireless (G for now).
Maybe I *should* consider N as an upgrade.
Wireless: it's definitely not (just) for laptops anymore.You have to change the workgroup in Vista from WORKGROUP to MSHOME and your XPs will appear under network.

Have old WRT54G, switched from comcast to ATT, get good signal, no connection
Guys, I have a WRT54G that I used to use at my old house. Now Im at a new house with the same laptop it used to work with when I connected wirelessly. Now have ATT DSL with a motorola modem(used to have a comcast service/modem). Even when I connect the modem to the router to the computer it wont connect. It shows as connected but there is no world globe connection icon. If i connect modem to computer im fine. so it is the router. when I try wireless connection it shows strong signal but doesnt connect. since i cant connect via the router i cant download new firmware or change my router settings, can I? Im lost.
As you have changed your ISP from Cable to DSL, so you need to Re-configure all the settings back on your Router again. As Cable and DSL provide use different settings on their modem. So there is certain rules to configure your Router with the DSL Modem.
Connect your Modem to the Linksys Router on the Internet Port and then connect your Computer to the Linksy Router on LAN Port 1. Login go the Setup page of your Router using the Default IP of Linksys i.e : 192.168.1.1...
Once you login to the Router setup page, Below the setup tab you need to change the Local IP address to : 10.10.10.1 and click on Save Settings... Once the settings are saved... You need to Unplug the Power from the Router and Modem, wait for 30sec and then first plug the power to the Modem and wait till all the lights are solid on modem then you can plug the power to the Linksys Router...
Now check if you are able to go Online from your Hardwired computer. -
Wrt54g going from 54mbps to 1mbps, tried everything linksys suggested!
Ok, using 2 diff wireless machines, same result on both, so that lets me know it's not the laptops. Probably once a day the wireless router will go from 54mbps with no problems to 1mbps, and there is no connection, doesn't matter if i reboot, or repair or whatever. I have to powercycle the router and it's all norm, lights stay norm even when it's messed up. here is what i've done. reset it to default, changed the ssid name, set wmm to on, changed mts? to 1365 i think i saw in a post. tried several diff channels, upgraded the firmware, reset the modem, no security enabled. ISP is cable, so dhcp, nothing to setup. any help or further info on settings would be appreciated, later.
There are many causes for poor wireless connections, and many solutions:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Also, try changing the router to "g-only" mode, and see if that helps.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.

ITunes Library relocation from mac to windows
Hi All,
So my 3 year old iMac G5 died about a week ago (failed logic board). I wanted to know if i can relocate my itunes library to my windows machine. Now, i've copied the entire library to the win-doze and did the "new library" feature by holding the shift button on itunes start up. I've also opened the XML file with a text editor and changed all the old "Mac" directory addresses to match the new library location. Now this worked for about 90% of the 70GBs of music but i've notice that some songs are missing. I guess i'm looking for a cleaner way of doing this. Data relocation from table SOFFCONT1
Hi experts,
I have to relocate data from table SOFFCONT1 to an external repository with help of report RSIRPIRL...I went through all related Sap notes and it seems pretty straightforward.
When I run the report RSIRPIRL I see all the fields I have to fill up (I have already created an content repository as well as a catalogue) but my question is how to select some data manually for testing purpose? Is it any way how to see from table SOFFCONT1 just 1 file for example?? I couldn't see that field in the report RSIRPIRL.

The problem is, changing location, but keeping my language. I moved from UK to Spain. I only speak english, and only have a Spanish bank account. I assume you used the orange bag that BT would of sent out with the replacement hub and did you keep the reciept that the Post Office would of given you as proof of sending?

I have a divided computer and I moved my Palm info from the C: to the D:. My Palm program is unable to find it now. To complicate issues, I no longer have a Palm handheld device to sync to. I re-loaded the Palm program and was hoping to be offered the choice as to where to find/store my info. That never occured.

WRT54G disconnects from Alcatel STH
Hi, I have a WRT54Gv8 connected to an Alcatel STH ADSL modem, using PPTP. It connects fine to the internet, and I work just great (both wireless and wired). But - after a while the connection just dies. Anywhere between 30 minutes to a couple of hours - the router 'looses' the modem. Sometimes I can disconnect/reconnect using the web interface, but ususally I find myself rebooting both. When connecting a PC directly to the Modem - I do not see any problems. I had no problems with my previous router (netgear) either. I tried playing a bit with the config - no major improvement. I also upgraded the firmware to the latest. Ideas anyone?
I changed the MTU, and the difference is minor. The moment I have a VPN client running on one of the computers (IPSec based) it gets even worse. I have rebooted the router twice in the past 5 hours. I am running P2P tools on one of the computers. David

WRT54GS cannot connect to windows media center with xbox360/can stream media from PC to x-box
- running win XP MCE and set up xb 360 on wireless router WRT54GS updated from V1 to V 4.71.4 . PC wired to router and DSL signal goes by wire from wall to modem, router, PC. I can stream media through xbox but not make the WMC connection. I still get the"xbox360 not found on network". I have gone through x-box set up page and installed the setup files. I excluded windows firewall as a problem. I can connect to Xbox live and xbox live/media tests on the xbox run w/o any failures.
Thanks for your reply Yes, I can connect to Xbox live from x box w/o diff. It seems that the xbox can "see" the PC but the PC cannot "see" the xbox. My PC is XP not Vista.

Just moved from Canada to Switzerland. Can I just plug in my Desktop and get started?? I've travelled with my laptop before so know that it is that easy!! Just not 100% sure about my desktop!!
You can, but the power outlet type may differ. All Intel Macs have no trouble understanding current from 110 to 250V

I just relocated from the UK to the US. Every time I try to make purchases from the US apps store, it tells me to switch to the UK store to buy. Problem is, UK store charges me in pounds and I now earn in dollars. How do I change my settings so I could purchase from the US store instead of the UK?

Error in the standard htmlb.jar from EP6 SP9 (HTMLx)
I've successfully migrated my custom developed applications from EP5 SP5 to EP6 SP9. I've used the well known 3rd party
HTMLxframework for the DatePicker and Locale corrections only (I am a brazilian developer).
In the org.sapportals.htmlb.rendering there is a class named RenderUtil.
This class has two places with this specific code:

Which is very wrong as the "java.text.resources.LocaleElements" is available only until j2sdk 1.3. In the EP5 that runs under 1.3 there's no problem but EP6 uses j2sdk 1.4 and this packages has been relocated from the standard package to a "ext" (extension) package and been renamed as "sun.text.resources.LocaleElements".
So, as HTMLx uses this RenderUtil class, I had to decompile the original from the htmlb.jar using JAD and corrected the above line with the following new line or code:
ResourceBundle r = ResourceBundle.getBundle("sun.text.resources.LocaleElements", locale);
More than that, I had to change several places of the HTMLx's HxInputFieldRenderer to reflect the class name changes made to the CSSs of the EP6. In the new version SAP does not open a pop-up window for the DatePicker. Instead they chose to rewrite it as a dynamic layer. So the HTMLx code has to change to reflect that.
Here follows the workaround version of HxInputFieldRenderer.java (notice that some strings are not internationalized, I just copied and pasted the parts I needed, so it's not a definitive version, but will help you get a clue of what to do):

Adobe 8 crashes when closing doc created from PDDoc.OpenAVDoc
I am having trouble closing Pdf objects using Acrobat Pro 8xx. The following VBA code has worked successfully with Acrobat 6 & 7, but not with 8. We are using current pc's with Windows XP (latest SP's) and we have just upgraded to Acrobat 8.1.2.
In VBA I basically insert pages from any combination of PDF books into a new PDF book (using PDDoc.OpenAVDoc(temporary object)). Then I open the completed book for viewing (without first having saved the book). The book opens correctly, but the following error occurs when the document is closed by the user. Acrobat then crashes and needs to be restarted.
The instruction at "0x03072b95" referenced memory at "0x00000008". The memory could not be "read". This doesn't happen with Acrobat 6 or 7.
The problem is resolved when I save the book first and then open, but I dont want to do that because these books are temporary and a large amount of books are generated on a daily basis by many users and I dont want to have to clean them up.
Also there are a couple of reasons why we insert pages from existing books into a temporary book, rather than just opening up the individual books:
1. Each book is an individual part drawing. The temp book groups the individual part drawings to make a complete part assembly. Each book may have a different combination of parts inserted into it.
2. Each book (part) is published from a CAD file and sometimes revisions need to be made to an existing part. If the part book was open for viewing when the revised part was published, then the PDF will not be able to overwritten because it is locked for viewing.
The following is a watered down version of the VBA code that I use. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for advice on clearing the save prompt. I now understand the ClearFlags (-1) may not have bene used correctly, but note it did not cause Adobe 6 or 7 to crash.
Ultimately I am not worried about the user being prompted to save the new document. They can always hit cancel. Removing the save prompt is just tidier.
I have tried your suggestion, but when I close the oPdfTempPdBk document down in Acrobat I get asked to save the document (the save prompt is shown) and regardless of which selection I make Adobe still crashes. Updated code:

I have also removed all reference to making the document clean and setting the Acrobat view, but Acrobat still crashes. Revised code:
