WRT54GS "Upgrade are failed" - unable to find solution

I noticed other people are having this problem, but I still haven't found a solution for it.
The label on my router says "WRT54GS" and the current firmware is 4.71.4. Can anybody point me to the proper file?
Thanks!

What is the version number of your router?

  • Linksys WRT54G "Upgrade are failed!"

    Hi
I have Firmware Version: v4.21.1  and whenever I try to upgrade it to the latest one it says "Upgrade are failed!"
    Solved!

No.  You must only use firmware versions for 2.2, nothing else.  Firmware version 4.21.1 is the latest so there is no need to upgrade.

  • WRT54GS "upgrade are failed" is what i get when i try to upgrade.

i get into the router page , click on administration, click firmware upgrade, click brouse button to find the firmware i just downloaded , the file ends with .bin, and when i click upgrade, it says "upgrade are failed".  any more ideas, i don't like this router..

hi....this error message comes up when you select a wrong firmware file from the website.....
ensure that you select the right model no and version no of the hardware unit....download the firmware and if is a zipped file , unzip it first and use the "bin" file for upgrading the firmware....or else if you directly get a bin file on the website , save it and through the ui , upgrade it...
one more option is to download " tftp.exe " file from ftp.linksys.com/pub/network and save it first... then run the exe file....here under server will go the router's ip add , enter the router password under the password field and browse the firmware file...then click upgrade.reset the router for 30 secs and then reconfigure it...

  • WRT54G v3 "upgrade are failed"

I am running the WRT54G router, version 3, and trying to upgrade the firmware. It's been locking up and losing my wan connection on a somewhat regular basis and I thought the upgrade would help.
When I try to upgrade to the latest firmware I get "Upgrade are failed" while the progress bar is at about 20%.
    Basics:
    WRT54G v3
have upgraded firmware since purchase - currently running 4.20.6
trying to upgrade to WRT54G version 3 firmware version 4.30.5
    PC running windows XP
I am connecting via wired, not wireless.
    Attempts:
    1) Logged into router through web interface and went through Administration-->Firmware Upgrade
    Result: Failed
    2) Downloaded firmware again (in case it was corrupted) and tried through web interface
    Result: Failed
    3) Hard reset of router - held down power 30-40 secs - then tried update through web interface
    Result: Failed
    4) Downloaded tftp program and used it
    Result: Failed
Can anyone give any other suggestions or tell me if they've successfully upgraded to this version of firmware?
    Thanks!!

    Try this:
    1. Disconnect all the devices from the router. Only the computer used for the upgrade should be the only device wired to the router. Even the modem shouldn't be connected.
    2. Reset the router for 30 seconds. The IP address of the router will be back to 192.168.1.1 after the reset.
    3. Disable all firewall and security software on the computer.
    4. Set a static IP on the computer. Use:
      • IP: 192.168.1.5
      • Subnet: 255.255.255.0
      • Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    5. Force your network adapters speed to 10 Mbps Half.
    6. Make sure you could still ping the router's IP address (192.168.1.1).
    7. Upgrade the firmware thru the web user interface (Administration tab. Firmware Upgrade tab.).
    8. If it fails, use the TFTP utility.
    9. Reset the router for 30 seconds after a successful upgrade.

  • WRT54GL v1.1 firmware upgrade: "upgrade are failed"

I am trying to upgrade my WRT54GL v1.1 firmware.  I have downloaded a file called FW_WRT54GL_4.30.13.016_US_EN_code.zip, which I have unzipped to yield a file with a .bin extension.  I am using the web interface to upgrade the firmware with the .bin file and get the error message "Upgrade are failed" very late in the upgrade process.  I have tried resetting the router by holding the reset button for 30 seconds, but this doesn't help.  I am using Safari on a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.2.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tip.  I took the router to a friend's house and upgraded the firmware with his peecee running Windows XP and a recent version of Firefox.  Rather disappointing that mac support is so poor.

    @jlbjlb
seems the link you put is simply the procedure to upgrade the ROUTER FIRMWARE
I am following steps to do what CISCO calls a MANUAL UPGRADE (downloaded the .bin file for WRT54G_v2; Open ROUTER Setup; Go to FIRMWARE UPGRADE; browsed to the .bin file; hit UPGRADE)
THIS TIME, reset then powered down then up the ROUTER
tried to to run the upgrade again but AGAIN, Upgrade are failed!
Does anybody know what the problem is her and how I can get the FIRMWARE updated?
    Hope so.

  • "Upgrade are failed!"

I tried to upgrade my firmware for my WRK54G router with the file that I downloaded from the Linksys website twice and I keep getting an "Upgrade are failed!" error message. Any suggestions?

Disable all firewall & antivirus software on your computer .....
reset the router for 20-30 seconds ......
Again download the firmware from http://linksys.com/download  .....

  • Time Machine restore fail: "Unable to find Driver for platform ACPI"

After restoring a recent Time Machine backup of a 2010 MacBook Pro Snow Leopard system, I'm getting boot errors like
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x5591cb: "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\".\n"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1504.7.4/iokit/Kernal/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1389
    Dbugger called <panic>
Backtrace (CPU 0), Freame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack)
I'm re-installing using the Utilities menu on they grey (Snow Leopard) system DVD that came with the MacBook Pro I'm trying to restore. I'm definitely not using a Leopard DVD, which is something I know can cause problems.
I've managed to restore from a non-Time Machine clone of my drive, but I now no longer trust my Time Machine backups. They are fine for restoring the odd user file, but seem to be broken or missing something crucial that means that my Time Machine backup is useless for restoring an entire system, which is something it should be capable of.
Am I missing something obvious? Any suggestions?

Hi Linc, thanks for your reply!
In case I wasn't clear, I'm not reinstalling after restoring, or reinstalling the OS.
Restoring my system from TM leaves me with an unusable system that kernel panics immediately on boot. My workaround is just to ignore TM and restore from a different kind of backup (a clone made with SuperDuper, as it happens).
I think it would be a bit generous to Time Machine to call this a "workaround"! Time Machine doesn't work for me.
Has anyone ever solved the problem of full restores of their TM backup leaving them with a system that has this problem?

  • Upgrade Download Failed & So Did The Solution

I attempted to upgrade to 7.6 resulting in the following error message: "iTunesSetup[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application."
I followed the "troubleshooting solution" suggested by this website, but am still receiving the same error message.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you

I solved my problem. After reading all the posts about problems with 7.6 I decided to download 7.5 instead. All I wanted to do was download music so needed 7.2 or higher. I found this link: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/11/07/direct-download-itunes-75-to-activate-i phone-anywhere-internationally/
and did the direct download. Now I'm downloading music no problem!

  • Trying to export security, ExportSecurity.cmd fails , unable to find class

Our Version is hyperion planning 9.3.1
When I run ExportSecurity.cmd it fails complaining it cannot find class HspExportSecurityCmd
When i look in HspJS.jar i dont see that HspExportSecurityCmd class. does anyone know what jar file that class is in so I can get this working?

    Hi,
com.hyperion.planning.utils.HspExportSecurityCmd class is indeed part of the HspJS.jar file. Ensure your cmd file used to call the utility explicitly puts the HspJS.jar on the classpath, and that it is actually pointing to a place where the jar file exists.

  • Upgrades are failing

Creative Cloud notified me of two apps that need upgrading. When I try to get the upgrades I get a upgrade failed message.

[ Mac 10.9.3 / Indesign CC update fail / Premiere update fail / Adobe Media Encoder 7.2.2 update fail ]
There's no separate uninstaller for AME. My ID CC and Premiere couldn't be updated (for the AME7.2.2 update). MCMHMPEGVideoCodec.framework seemed to be the factor.
I uninstalled Premiere (only), after having manually removed MCMHMPEGVideoCodec.framework from inside AME. After boot I installed it again and voilà, both (ID & Premiere) updates went trough fine. The MCMHMPEGVideoCodec.framework was on place inside AME too.

Open router set up page using http://192.168.1.1 ….you will see username & password screen .Leave username blank & in password use admin.
Click on Administration tab……browse the file & click upgrade
After upgrade reset & reconfigure the router

  • Unable to find a WSDL that has a definition for service

    Dear all
I have a very simple composite applicationexposing a web service. When I deploy the application I get:
There was an error deploying the composite on soa_server1: Deployment Failed: Unable to find a WSDL that has a definition for service {http://soa/sf/login}bpelprocess1_client_ep and port loginPort_pt. Please make sure that the port attribute for the binding defined in the composite file is correct by checking the namespace, service name, and port name. In addition, check that the WSDL associated with the binding namespace is imported and currently reachable (check the import nodes at the top of the composite file). Finally, validate the HTTP proxy settings for the server.
However the build process shows no errors. The entire application was built using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.5 using a pre-constructed WSDL. The SOA suite is 11.1.1.5
Any pointers will be really appreciated.
