WRT54GS V2 Unable to Connect

For some time I've been unable to connect to the website http://www.zagg.com. I thought it was my ISP but after contacting them I learned it was my router. I don't really know a great deal about router advanced settings and I don't know what to do. Please Help! Thanks in adv.

What is the ip address you are getting on the hard-wired computer..?
Are you able to see the network name on the Wireless Computer..?
Are you getting any error message on the Wireless Computer..?
Try to reflash the firmware of the router...You can download the firmware from www.linksys.com/downloads.On the linksys setup page,click on Administration tab and click on firmware upgrade to upgrade the firmware.After upgrading the firmware,reset the router again for 30 seconds,power cycle the entire network...
Open the setup page again...Under the setup tab,click on Mac Address Clone tab and click on enable>>>click on "Clone My PC's Mac" and click save settings..Now,click on the status tab and check if you are getting the valid ip address...?
If you are getting the valid ip address then,try to go online on the wired computer...If you are able to go online on the wired computer then,reconfigure the wireless settings and try to go online from the Wireless computer.

  • WRT54G v3 Unable to Connect to Internet

    I have a WRT54G version 3 router and recently added a WRE54G range expander to my network.  Ever since I added the range expander, my internet connection goes out almost daily.  The only way to get it back is to power cycle the modem and router.  It's only the internet connection that goes.  Everything else within the network works fine. (I can access the setup pages for both the router and range expander, and each computer on the network can access the others.)
    Has anyone else experienced this problem?  I've read that this issue has occurred with version 5, 6, and 7 WRT54Gs, but haven't found anything pertaining to version 3.

    Did you leave the WRE54G set to its default address of 192.168.1.240 ?  If not, what did you change it to?
    In your router, are you using the default DHCP server range of 192.168.1.100  thru  192.168.1.149  ?    If not, what DHCP server range are you using?
    Are you using any peer-to-peer (P2P) software?

  • Suddenly unable to connect - WRT54G

    I have a Linksys WRT54G router connected to a PC.  2nd PC connects fine via wireless adapter.  1 laptop connects fine.  Newest laptop connected fine until 4 days ago.  Now it shows the wireless network with full signal, but is unable to connect for more than 30 seconds to 3 minutes at a time with long gaps of no connectivity between. I am able to connect to other wireless networks with no lag or drop, outside my home.
    I have: reset router, powered down and powered up modem & router, changed SSID from default name, turned off firewalls and antivirus (back on since nothing changed), disabled MAC and Security Mode on router, updated drivers, restored the laptop to a date before the problem occured.
    Out of ideas and very hopeful that there is a fix.  Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    First of all, set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
    Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
    In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
    Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
    Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed.  (If you have a long list, this might be the sole cause for your problem.)  Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".
    Some users have reported improved wireless performance by switching from to WPA encryption.
    If you continue to have problems, try the following:
    For wireless g routers, try setting the "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps.
    If you still have trouble, download and install the latest firmware for your router. After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to connect to the router! (wrt54g v. 2)

    I just got a router from a garage sale; it was still in the box and everything.
    Well, I tried hooking it up to my modem and computer to get wifi, but I can't get it to work.
    This is the setup:
    modem -> router -> computer
    I can access the internet when the setup is this way, but there's no wifi, and I can't access 192.168.1.1 or set it up using the CD it came with. When I go through the setting up process with the CD, I get this error message that says "Unable to connect to router! Check that the router has been connected to the computer, and that you're ethernet adapter is working."
    When I try to go to 192.168.1.1, it says "The connection has timed out." I can't ping it either.
    I've also tried resetting it several times, but that doesn't do anything.
    Someone please help!

    Hi sylentknight and welcome to the forums!
    You said that you are able to connect to the internet with this set-up: modem -> router -> computer right? So does that mean that you can ping the router when it is connected directly to your computer? Reason why I'm asking is if it does work, you can try to configure the router for the wireless settings while it is directly connected to the router first then try to go wireless. Please let me know if understood your post correctly.

  • Unable to connect to internet with my WRT54G router

    I had no problem until a few days ago.  I have it under a secured mode and wanted to unsecure it temporarily.  I got into the 192.168.2.1  and clicked the security tab and got a clock that never seemed to come back to i closed the window.  I went back into internet explorer and could not get into the internet.  I get a popup in lower right saying  Local Area connection.  This connection has limited or no connectivty.  You might not be able to access the internet or some resources.  For more information click this message.
    Then I get
    Windows could not finis repra the problem because the following actin can not be completed.  Renewing your IP address.
    I do a setup and get a message
    Unable to connect to the router
    I try pinging the 192.168.1.1  and it times out.
    I do a diagostic and
    HTTP Error 12007  connecting to www.microsoft.,com  shows up many times.
    I have an Actiontec 701 DSL modem.  I can get into the internet using that only.
    I've tried resetting the router, I've done   what appears to be a firmware upgrade (lights blink etc),  I've tried different power up sequences,  I've tried re-booting.
    What more can I try?

    As of now you are not able to login to your router setup page, and you are getting an error message "Limited or no Connectivity". First you can try is Unplug the Power from your router, wait for 1 min and reconnect the power to your router and check if you connected to the router or still you are getting the same error message.
    If still the same problem persist then Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • WRT54G: Unable to connect to the Router!

    I have set up my router exactly as told in the setup wizard, but when I get to step 8, I encounter a problem and I get the following error message:
    Unable to connect to the Router!
    Check that your Router has been connected to the computer, and that your Ethernet adapter is working!
    Oddly, my wired internet works just fine through the router, but my wireless doesn't because I can't complete the setup. All the lights that are supposed to be on are on and not blinking or anything.
    What do I need to do to fix this?

    you can actualy configure the router without using a setup cd.. you can try accessing the router setup page using your working computer that is wired to the router. just go to internet exp. type 192.168.1.1 on the address box.. it will ask for password- just type admin. go to the wireless menu - change the ssid to any name that you want to name your network. try to view wireless networks on your wireless pc and check if you can see the name that you set. connect to it..
    you can check if it works.

  • WRT54G unable to connect to certain internet addresses

    The title is a little misleading but I wasn't sure how to word it properly.
    Here is my problem, my router frequently does not want to connect to many addresses even though I can ping them. If I try to download from my newsgroup server it just says unable to connect, if I try to watch youtube videos I get an error occured. The only way to get around this is to power cycle my router. Any ideas on what's going on? I have to do this at least every other day.
    edit:
    I forgot to mention that I have updated to the latest firmware to try to remedy this issue.

    After upgrading the firmware, did you reset the router...if no then follow the steps...
    Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Unable to connect to wifi Linksys

    Purchased IPAD 2 four days ago and I have been on the phone with customer service and read several forums and I am still unable to connect to WiFi even though I have two Laptops and a wireless printer which all work fine. I have done all resets, changed my security to WPA from WEP after speaking to customer support at Apple but still unable to connect. I have a Linksys router WRT54GS and would replace it if I knew this would help but I am not seeing anything to say this will work. Any suggestions?

    Try going to Settings/Safari/Reading List and turn off Use Cellular Data.

    Unable to connect to " http.192.168.1.1 " . Safari message : " cannot connect with service. " I just got a new Linksys wireless router and have it connect. Linksys 802.11g Model WRT54G. I am connect to internet with " Ethenet." . The router working just great. But can bring the web.page so I can set my setting.
    Thank You
    Joyce/

    To view the router's web pages:
    Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.Point Internet Explorer to "192.168.1.1"  (with no quotes)
    JavaScript must be enabled.
    Use a computer that is wired to the router.
    In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall. If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem.
    If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
    A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
    If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.

    Same To me. I have Asus WL-500W router at home, WPA2-PSK(AES), password similar to this "lIGf@91pY0TnFY!Jh@7LjTUlsL3ZPY", MAC address filtering. My old Nokia E51 works, my Touch Pro Works with it. When i try my one day old Nokia E72 it does not work, the same like others:WLAN: Unable to connect. Wlan Network not Found. E72 works at my work wifi, which has the same settings but without mac filtering. Have no idea what is happening, all is setting correctly. MAC address of E72 is allowed on router. It has the same settings like E51, but E51 works like a charm E72 does not work. What is wrong?
    As already suggested, you could try disabling the MAC filtering from the router, just to outrule possibility of a typo while entering E72's MAC address to router settings.
    Have you tried swithing a WLAN channel that your router uses?
    Log in to your router's web management pages (check router's default IP address and username/password from it's manual) and switch of the "Automatic" channel selection mode. Try few different channels, like 1, 3, 6, 9, 11, if one of the channels happens to work any better. Note that in case you have set your router to use channels 12 or 13 (or in case "Automatic" channel selection mode has decided to select channel 12 or 13) you must have a SIM card inserted and some other than "Offline" profile enabled on your phone since Offline mode (i.e. airplane / flight mode) won't allow your phone to operate on higher channels than 11.
    In case you have configured your WLAN network (SSID) to be "hidden", try disabling hidden SSID mode on the router.
    Asus WL-500W router seems to be a pre-standard 802.11n device so might be worth looking in to your router's WLAN settings and see if playing around with router's WLAN operating mode and settings improve the situation. First of all ensure that your router is not set to operate in 20/40MHz mode (set it to 20MHz only) assuming that the router is in default 802.11b/g/n mode. You could also try disabling the 802.11n mode completely by selecting a 802.11b/g mode (if available).
    You should probably also check that you're running latest (2.0.0.6 ??) firmware version on your Asus WL-500W router since there seems to plenty of complaints regarding WLAN connectivity and stability issues (in general, not specific to Nokia handsets) with this particular router model.

  • WRT54GS not able to connect wirelessly, or through ethernet

    Hello all, I have a problem with my WRT54GS router that has just popped up over the last couple of weeks.  It is connected to internet via ethernet cable. Light shows receiving signal. Wireless signal is intemittent, but unable to connect wirelessly.  Direct connection from router to desktop does not allow internet access.  All port lights on router work when something is plugged into them.  Am currently accessing internet via direct connect from modem to desktop. I have attempted to reset router when connected to ethernet, but my wireless internet connection only lasts about 1 minute, then I lose that capability. I still don't get any connection thru wired desktop.  Therefore I am not able to work with router settings or anything.  Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
    What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
    What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
    Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing?
    What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
    Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAT6 is recommended.
    Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask.
    http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=88e63d78588142e6bb68e22d7faf2046_Configuring_the_M...
    For DSL/PPPoE connections on the router, ensure that "Always ON" option is enabled.
    If the ISP modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm and http://cognitiveanomalies.com/cisco-nat-how-nat-works/. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ. Also check the routers DHCP IP address maybe conflicting with the ISP modems IP address of 192.168.0.1. Check to see if this is the same on the ISP modem, and if modem can't be bridged, change the DIR router to 192.168.1.1 or .0.254.
    Prefered connection method with a ISP stand alone modem:
    I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. For cable Internet, RG-6 coaxial cable is needed, not RG-59. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. Ensure modem is working well too. Bad modems are out there as well. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.
    What wireless modes are you using?
    Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions. Try channel 48 or 149 on 5Ghz. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

  • WRT54G + MODEM THOMSON ST516v6 - CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET IMPOSSIBLE

    Hello,
    I am able to connect to Internet directly via adsl Thomson ST516v6.
    I tried to setup WRT54G but am unable to connect to the Internet.  The modem is connected to WRT54G via the Internet Port.
    PC is connect to WRT54G via port2.  The LEDs looks ok.  But I cannot go out to Internet.
    any advise how I should proceed ? Should i use PPPoE instead of DHCP?
    Thanks!

    Your "modem" is actually a "modem-router" and it uses the same 192.168.1.x  address space as the WRT54G.  This is likely the root of your problem.
    To fix this problem, disconnect the WRT54G from the Thomson.  Then go into the WRT54G and change the "Local IP address" to 192.168.2.1
    Leave WRT54G set to DHCP.

    Noooo! Actually I too had d same prob wit my iPhone 4S. When I connect to my wifi network it won't get connected or it wil be grey scaled! I took it to d istore and since I had warranty they replaced my IPhone. It iPad charger has high volt than ur iPhone charger so when u connect wit it, there is a chance where large amount of current passes thru ur iPhone. So for sure it wil damage ur motherboard and its parts! Many said that iOS 6 or 6.0.1 or 6.1 was d reason for tis wifi prob! But apple never made its mistake wit it's software. If and only if u hav hardware prob u wil hav these sort of wifi prob Bluetooth prob! So best way s to replace ur iPhone!

  • Published pdf form is unable to connect with database

    Hi Guys!
    I have created a PDF form using Adobe Live Cycle Designer which have some text fields namely RECORD and NAME. I have connected this form with a Database. When I enter a record in the RECORD number field the NAME field of this form has been populated with the help of XFA Script which is written on the exit event of the RECORD text field. When we publish this form, a new interactive PDF is created which works fine and populates the NAME field from the an SQL database but when I access this PDF form (which is located on a shared location) from some another location (not on the same machine where i designed this form) it is unable to connect to the database and does not work as expected.
    I think there is some thing i am missing for the database connectivity.
    If any body on this forum can help me out.
    thanks
    Here is the Script for the above form which i used to populate the NAME FIELD on the basis of enetered RECORD number.
    ----- Document.Page1.txt_MRN::exit: - (JavaScript, client) -----------------------------------------
    /* This dropdown list object will populate two columns with data from a data connection.
    sDataConnectionName - name of the data connection to get the data from.  Note the data connection will appear in the Data View.
    sColHiddenValue  - this is the hidden value column of the dropdown.  Specify the table column name used for populating.
    sColDisplayText  - this is the display text column of the dropdown.  Specify the table column name used for populating.
    These variables must be assigned for this script to run correctly.  Replace <value> with the correct value.
    var sDataConnectionName = "DataSource";  // example - var sDataConnectionName = "MyDataConnection";
    var sColHiddenValue  = "RecordNum";   // example - var sColHiddenValue = "MyIndexValue";
    var sColDisplayText  = "Name";   // example - var sColDisplayText = "MyDescription"
    // Search for sourceSet node which matchs the DataConnection name
    var nIndex = 0;
    while(xfa.sourceSet.nodes.item(nIndex).name != sDataConnectionName)
    nIndex++;
    //var oDB = xfa.sourceSet.nodes.item(nIndex);

      oValueNode = oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex);
    else if(oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex).name == sColDisplayText)
      oTextNode = oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex);
    var found= 0;
    while(!oDB.isEOF())
    if (oValueNode.value== sRecordNum)
      txt_FirstName.rawValue = oTextNode.value;
      txt_LastName.rawValue = oTextNode.value;
      found = 1;
      break;
      //this.addItem(oTextNode.value, oValueNode.value);
       oDB.next();
       if (found == 0)
        txt_FirstName.rawValue = "";
        txt_LastName.rawValue = "";
    // Restore the original settings
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute(sBOFBackup, "bofAction");
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute(sEOFBackup, "eofAction");
    // Close connection
    oDB.close();

    Finally achived the database connectivity for the published pdf form developed in the Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0.
    There must be the same driver version of the DSN on both machines. The machine which published the form and the one accessing it.
    Use the Admin account to add the DSN on both machines.
    Get rid of the error: Connection for Source "DataConnectionName" failed because the environment is not trusted.
    Thanks

  • Unable to connect video/audio chat. They are 'declining'

    Just this week I am unable to connect to anyone over video or audio chat. An error keeps coming up on both ends that the user is declining the invitation moments after it states it is 'connecting'. I have tried changing the connection ports to 80 and 443. I have tried with multiple buddies and even tried the 'dummy' buddies to test an video connection and get the same error. I am using a Linksys router and have no set up any port forwarding as I have never had to in the past. All other applications run fine (google talk video chat, xbox live, skype, etc) without their ports being forwarded. This has only been happening recently. Here is the error log that it asks me to send to Apple:

    Hi,
    Error 7 is when a router or the connection to the router is broken in some way.
    Some devices have features such as Denial Of Service protection (DoS) that cut a particular Internet Port when it thinks too much data is coming (Presuming it is an attack.)
    iChat 5 in Leopard is not capped by the System Preferences > Quicktime Streaming speed (which we used to suggest was set at 1.5Mbps)
    It now sees your whole Connection speed and your Upload may be much faster than this.
    Your Download is likely to be much faster. However iChat will tend to operate at the lower figure of your Upload.
    DoS features are threshold based.
    You may now be bumping in to this Threshold where you were not before.
    SPI (Stateful packet Inspection) does a different job but has the same effect when it is overloaded by the speed of the data.
    If you have either of these features, turn them Off (Disable them)
