WRT54GS v5.1 auto reboot when wireless device connects

Hi,
I'm using the linksys WRT54GS wireless router v5.1
Current Firmware version v1.50.9, Sep. 14, 2006
The problem that I have is that everytime a new device connects to the Router wirelessly, the router reboots itself.
After the reboot, everything seems to be working fine. This becomes quite annoying when it comes to gaming and another family member turns on their laptop and then I get disconnected by the router because they are connecting.
What I have done upto now is reset the router after doing the FirmWare Version update and the problem still occurs. (The problem was still there even before I had done a FirmWare Update.)
Is there a way to solve this problem? because I have read about a few other problems just like mine on the forums and they don't seem to have been resolved.
Or will I have to go back to PCWORLD to see if I can get a refund / replacement?

I do not see a "keep alive" option. I use the Automatic Configuration - DHCP because I have connected, a CABLE MODEM provided by my cable provider Telewest Blueyonder
The router just reboots when the wireless laptops connect. The wired desktop (this PC) loses connection as it is rebooting and regains connection after the reboot. Then both PC and Laptop work fine.

Auto reboot when wireless turned on?

Using a Tecra M2-S530, running Windows XP. Found supposed solutions to this issue on this forum, but they are NOT working. Need further assistance. This Tecra goes into a looping reboot whenever I turn-on the wireless funtion. I've attempted to update the drivers with Toshiba downloads, but they are not working. Anyone have a solution?

Try this.
Open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), expand Network adapters, and double-click the Intel wireless device to open its Properties.
On the Power Management tab, clear the check box for Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby.
While you're there, do the same for any other network adaptors.

System reboots when USB device connected

I have a new motherboard (MS-7104), and sometimes when a USB device is plugged into the USB ports whilst the computer is turned on, the computer will restart. This happens around 50% of the time, and there is no pattern to the device or port that is used.
The USB ports worked fine on my old MSI motherboard, so it would appear to be something related either to the new motherboard or to the drivers.
I have the latest motherboard drivers and Windows updates, so I don't know what else to try, or why this problem is occuring. The USB jumpers are connected correctly onto the motherboard.
Board - MS-7104 (P4M800)
CPU - Celeron D 2.26 GHz
512 MB RAM

It does not have any software interface for you to access to know what it is. You need to physically take a look at the power supply itself, and tell what each voltage rail's current rating is - +12V, +5V, +3.3V, -12V, 5V-stby.

Solaris 8 in ultra 2 got panic and auto reboot when install Oracle software

Dear all,
I installed Solaris 8 by selecting 'Entire Solaris Software Group' and select 32 bit support only in an old ultra II machine. Then I tried to install Oracle 8.1.7 in the same machine but machine always got panic and started auto reboot when Oracle installed about 17% or 20% or even 70% (I tried install the minimum of Oracle).
What is the problem? Anyone can help?

I think you need to check the parameters like SHMMAX etc in /etc/system file as recommanded by oracle if not already added you need to add them .Oracle manuals have a list of these parameters and don't forget to reboot and boot with boot -r after adding these parameters.
Make sure you have sufficient memory or some patch recommanded by Oracle .

Auto reboots when battery is lower than 50%

Hi, I have my 4s 16gb from this year Jan. I knew that Iphone 4S long have a problem with the battery. It is horrible but recently my unit will auto reboot when the battery is lower than 50%............ which I can only use my phone with 3G for 4 h then have to recharge........... Plz help!!!

Do you mean an Airport Extreme Base Station connected to a Comcast Modem?

MacBook Air intermittently has issues connecting to websites when wireless shows connected to the internet. The pages show that I am offline, but I can ping Google DNS. Windows PC, iPhone and Android phone have no issue displaying the same web pages.

Go step by step and test.
1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
    Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
    Restart the computer.
    Start up in Safe Mode.

2. Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
    Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
    Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
    Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
3. Deselect Proxies if selected.
    System Preference > Network > Advanced > Proxies Tab
    Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if selected.
    Click "OK" then "Apply”.

You reinstalled an old version of iPhoto after you updated your library to the newer version.
Update ALL your software and try again.
Click the Apple Menu at the upper left-hand corner of your screen and select "Software Update..."
Repeat until it tells you there are no more updates.
AND, launch the App Store application located in your Applications folder to see if there are any updates there as well.

WRT54GX2 rebooting when wireless enabled.

Hi Folks,
My WRT54GX2 is constantly rebooting when I enable the wireless function with all four hard cable ports full.
It will not reboot if I only plug in one hardwired computer and use 1 wireless computer.
If I use 2 wireless computers and 1 hardwaired computer, it will reboot every few minutes.
I can run as many hardwired connections as I want and everything will run fine (router + 10 port switch, etc.). But as soon as I enable the wireless function of the router it will constantly reboot until I unplug all of th e hardwired connections.
I've tried updating to the latest firmware and it didn't help.
Any suggestions?

Hey try resetting the router reset button in such a way that power
light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power
cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router &
then plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are
solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & check out
it will definately work!! & then reconfigure the router & it should work properly.

Why does my 5th gen airport extreme go on the fritz and disconnect all 2.4GHz devices when one device connects with 5GHz? I've done some research and it seems other people have had this problem too? I'm very frustrated and want my money back

Running an apple tv 3rd gen, iPod 4th gen, iPhone 4s, windows vista laptop, and Xbox 360 with media center. 2.4GHz devices work great when apple TV is connected with ethernet, but as soon as I switch the apple tv to wireless, the 5th gen AEBS kicks over to 5GHz, my 2.4GHz devices lose connection and I can't reconnect my 2.4GHz devices, until I do a hard reset of my AEBS and reconfig the network with my iPhone, if I use the airport application for PC, my wireless devices still won't connect. I bought this router 20 days ago so I could run dual band wireless, if I wanted to limit all my stuff to 2.4ghz, I would've got a g router and saved some money. This thing supposedly has 3 antennas, one for 2.4, one for 5, and one for the guest network, so why do I loose my 2.4 when it "switches" to 5GHZ if it's supposedly always broadcasting both freq's????????

I had a problem with dual bands running almost everything you have there. When I'd have a iPad and MacBook running, I'd turn on my 360 and I'd loose all connections though. Until a hard reset and the same cycle. I returned my airport a day later for a new one. No problems since. I had a faulty one. Not saying yours is, but mine was. I troubleshooted everything from options, manual setup, everythinggggggggg. It was a wasted 7plus hours to find out it was faulty. I have a pc, MacBook, apple tv, 360, and 2 iPads using it now flawless.

New macbook pro doesn't keep wireless devices connected

I have the brand new 2012 15" Macbook Pro w/o retina display, 2.7ghz, 8gb ram, 750gb @ 7200rpm and 10.7.4. I've already received and returned this setup once in the time that it has been released because wireless devices don't seem to stay connected after the computer falls asleep or is inactive for more than a few minutes. I have multiple Magic mice and a Verbatim 96991 I've tried as well as bluetooth speakers. All of these products disconnected themselves as soon as the computer or device was inactive for more than a few minutes. I have multiple macs as well and all of these devices connect fine with my older macs. I'm assuming this problem can be fixed with a software update, but clearly there is not one out yet. Any help would be much appreciated.

There is no such animal as an intel G5. Intel based towers are now called Mac Pros. G5 towers run the PowerPC chips.
If you have the MacPro at work, then yes, something else would seem to be amiss.
If you have a G5 at work, then it could still be the universal binary issue.

IMac reboot when 120gb is connected

Hello!
I write trying to find solution to my problem. I have an ipod classic for 5 months and everything was ok. Put yesteday i connect my ipod to my mac and... as i plugged in, the screen gets darker and a message appears telling that i must reboot my mac.
There is nothing i can do appart from push the power button. I try to reboot the ipod, i connected to a pc, to format... but always the same.
The only thing different is before connecting de ipod i connected my new iphone 8gb.
Any suggestions?

Make sure that the PRAM battery is under 4 years old.
Then zap the PRAM.

IPhone 5C regularly reboot when the device is at sleep.

My device fell of the table last night(pretty hard), did't give much attention afterwards,charged my iPhone and went to sleep. When i woke this morning, the iPhone is really really hot. just the whole morning the iPhone pretty much reboot itself for about 10 times but only at sleep status(when turned on at the main UI it didn't reboot itself. ).
The crash reporter said: bug type: "110", panic(CPU 1 caller address): "Apple Tristar2: could not find system ID: bad IPC message ID".
Right now i just don't wanna restore my iPhone before figuring out what had really happened. i just don't know whether it is the hardware prob or software's, if you guys has encountered such issue, please give some advice.

Haven't come across that issue in particular, but circumstantially, it can certainly be caused by something that happened during the fall. The only people that would truly know what that crash reported error is are Apple employees or engineers, so if you want to know about it, you might want to contact Apple. If you want to proceed with figuring out if it's hard ware or software, I would recommend backing up all your data and your logs like that crash reporter, then restoring and seeing if it continues. If it does not continue, restore from your backup.

All devices should automatically reestablish a connection after power cycling the router.
Also try resetting your iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Auto-reboot when going Home from Pages

5S with iOS 7.01, pressing the Home button to switch to the Home screen from the new Pages app reboots the phone every time (screen goes blue, then the phone reboots). Anyone else having this problem?

Looks like the reason were two documents created during the public Beta phase. When I pressed Home with either document up, the Home screen briefly appeared, then turned blue, and the iPhone 5S rebooted itself. However, with the default Apple "Getting Started" document, no problem. Pressing the Home button brought me back to the Home screen. No "blue screen of iOS death."
