WRT54GS V6.0 No setup Tabs???

I recently upgraded my wireless B router to a wireless G w/ speedbooster and I am having a big problem logging on to it.  For some reason, whenever I log onto it using 192.168.1.1 blank login password admin I get the normal background that I used to get with my old router, but now I have no tabs to click on???  I should have tabs across the top to alter my settings (setup, security,...) I have nothing except for the(&) symbol and that is it.  I talked to linksys "foreign" support for an hour yesturday and they have no clue, so i exchanged it for another thinking it was the router, but the new one is doing the same thing.  I know my firmware is old but i have no way of updating it?  Why would they sell me a router with old firmware anyway (twice)?   Can anyone help????

Just figured out how to fix this on my own WRT54GS.  COMPLETELY disable, turn off, kill Zone Alarm.  All the tabs showed up and I was able to update firmware that I had been screwing around with for hours.

    Hi ,
I am unable to see the Browser Setup tab in desktop workflow administrator ( pc installed version) under the workflow group / cad agent / user interface

  • Only Basic Setup Tab

My linksys router WRT54GS has defaulted its router name to a generic name. As i follow the instructions to access the set up screen (through 192.168.1.1), I only have a limited number of tabs on the SETUP screen (Basic Setup, MAC Address and Advanced Routing) - none of which provides access to the router name or SSID. What am I missing? Thanks!

Reset and power cycle the router. Usually that problem occurs if there’s a problem with the router’s current firmware or with the browser that you are using. As such, upgrade the router’s firmware if there is a newer firmware available then try to use another browsers or better yet try to use another computer.

  • WRT54G version 6 - router setup screen via Internet Explorer 7 doesn't display correctly

    Hi,
I've just set up my WRT54G router.  I'm able to connect to the internet and I'm able to connect directly to the router via IE but the setup screen doesn't display correctly.  I've tried resetting the computer and updating the firmware but it still doesn't display correctly.  Almost all of the text is missing except for the Linksys logo and a few drop down menus.  Any help/suggestions would be great, thanks.

    Hi gang,
There a number of things that you can do to solve this problem but most of them involve changing the rules that you have already configured in your ZoneAlarm profile. My preferred solution is to:
-unplug your router from the WAN (why not?)
    -turn off zone alarm
-access your router's administration page at http://192.168.1.1
-find the admin page where you can switch admin access from http to https
    --- **save your changes !!**
    -reboot your router
-plug the WAN cable back into your router
    -turn ZoneAlarm back on
-access your admin page at https://192.168.1.1 ( note the 's')
Bob is your sister's brother! Your admin page should work as it is supposed to. Your router and ZoneAlarm should be playing nicely together. You haven't borked your finely tuned zonealarm rules. You were going to bookmark your admin page anyway, and if you want to allow remote administration, you would want to use https anyway. Nothing is broken and you fixed two things. • [WRT54G v.5] Cannot setup VPN to work due to IP conflict

    Hi,
I am completely ignorant about routers and networking and I've tried to read through threads that seem related to my problem but didn't find a solution. So I will try to give as much information as I can and hopefully someone can help me out!
    Router: WRT54G v5, Firmware v1.01.0, Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1
VPN Client Software: Check Point VPN-1 SecuRemote, NG with Application Intelligence R56 HFA-03 (Build 619)
Situation: PCs at work have IP addresses starting with 192.168.*, which conflicts with the IP address assign to my home PC
Thanks in advance for any input here!

How have you configured your router before if it is using 192.168.2.1?
Connect to the web-based interface of the router. The default address is http://192.168.1.1/ but if you have changed it it would be http://192.168.2.1/ for you. It will ask for a username and password. The default password is "admin" there (no username) but I hope you have changed it before. If not, this would be a good time to do it...
The setup page appears in the browser. Somewhere in the middle of the screen is the Network Setup section where you define the Local IP Address of the router and the subnet mask. Change the local IP address to whatever base address you like... save the settings... done.
For further configuration you must now point your browser to the new IP address obviously. If you are using DHCP on your computer you must renew the DHCP address. I guess a "Repair" of the network connection should do. If you have a static IP address you must change it that it is in the new LAN. After your computer has a proper IP address in the new LAN it can connect again to the router under the new IP address and it should also be able to use the internet connection of the router (or whatever else is connected on the internet port of the router)

All you have to do is to get the WPA key from the router.
    1. Assuming that your router is using it's default IP address, type 192.168.1.1 on your browser(press enter of course).
    2. Leave the username blank and type your password(if you ran the CD) or admin(default).
    3. Go to wireless tab and then wireless securiyt tab below it.
And there, you got your key and please keep it.

  • WRT54GS what is the setup password.. please help

I just bought this router.. when i go to set it up i come up to step 8 and it asks for a password. Ive tried everything including admin.. does anyone know what i should type in? to get me to the next step..please help

Press the reset the button of router for 30 seconds to make sure all the settings are reset. Since the set-up CD did not run and configure properly for the 1st time. You may try configuring the router manually.
1st what is the exact model number and version number of your router? You may find it underneath the router itself on one of the stickers. Example would be the image below.
If it is WRT54G v5 or v6 then you need to upgrade the firmware (operating system of the router) to make it work to it's maximum potential.
    To upgrade the firmware:
    1. Connect computer directly to modem and download the file to your desktop from www.linksys.com/downloads (search for your product model number on the list)
    2. Connect modem-router internet port
    3. Connect computer to router port 1
    4. click on start - run (type in cmd
    5. on the DOS prompt type in ipconfig (take note of the default gateway)
    6. open up internet explorer and type in 192.168.1.1 (i.e default gateway)
    7. go to the Administration tab and go to Firmware Upgrade
8: click on browse - search for the downloaded file - click on open and then click on upgrade
    9. after it says upgrade successful - rebooting - click on continue
    10. press reset button of the router for 30 seconds and powercycle (i.e turn off and turn back on router)
After you have done this. Connect your computer back to the modem and go to www.linksys.com/easy and use EasyLink Connect to configure the router.

  • WRT54G Failure to access setup menu

Having an issue accessing my setup menu for my WRT54G wireless router. IP 192.168.1.1 times out and ipconfig/all from the command prompt reveals a different IP. I've tried logging in through the listed default gateway but that times out as well. I reset my WRT54G but I continue to time out. I have had this router connected to my DSL modem for some time with no trouble.
I wanted to check my setup menu because one of my laptops stopped connecting. I never got to troubleshoot that problem due to setup access problem. Only change to system is that the PC was moved today so power was disconnected to all devices. I'm still able to connect to internet via PC. I've power cycled all the devices multiple times with no fix.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should lower down the security settings on the Zone Alarm.
Make sure the File and Printer Sharing which is one of the features created by Microsoft should be configured properly on 3 computers.
For more information on how to share files and printers on all of the 3 computers.

  • Help - WRT54G v8 blank web setup screens

My new WRT54G works fine except that after accessing the web setup menus (via a wired connection) at some point I start getting blank screens. I'm still able to access the router (there's no timeout error), but all of the pages, including ones I've been able to access before, are blank.
Internet access to other sites continues to work fine. Power cycling or resetting the router makes the problem go away temporarily, but it always comes back when I access a large number (10-20 typically) of the router setup pages.
I've tried restarting the browser, using a different browser, clearing the arp table on my pc, releasing/renewing DHCP, and reflashing the router firmware.
Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions?

new to Linksys, but lots of network experience
    WRT54G V8 with 8.00.0 firmware

I've checked the IP settings and they're O.K. I'm using a static IP address. Everything works fine for a while. I can access the net, I can access my LAN, and (initially) I can access the router setup pages.
The problem starts when I browse from page to page on the setup menu. After ~10-20 pages, they start showing up blank. The pages continue to load, there's just nothing in them. Examining the html shows they are empty, not just not being loaded. Surfing to other pages on the net or the LAN continues to work just fine.
It sounds weird, but if anyone has seen this, they'll know what I'm talking about.
Update: Search this forum for "blank page" or "blank pages" and you'll find quite a few users with similar problems. The only fix I've found is to power cycle the router, and that's just a temporary fix.Message Edited by cel on 05-01-200705:44 AM

  • WRT54g not recognized during setup

I am trying to setup the WRT54G wireless router but for some reason the computers will not recognize it.
I tried the routers page 192.168.1.1 and that did not work. I tried easy link and that could not detect the router. When i use the CD it give me a router error during the checking status state of the setup.
any ideas on what the problem could be?
    thanks

    To worm1028  ---
You need to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • WRT54G v5/Verizon DSL setup

Hey everyone I am somewhat new to networking and I have a question about install DSL on two computers. To start the upstairs computer is the main one and I have a usb cord going directly into a Westell 6100 router. I then have the ethernet cable from the computer running into the first port of the linksys router. Also I have another ethernet cable running from the westell 6100 router to the internet port on the linksys WRT54g v5 router. Also, no installation disk came with my router.  But anyways, now I turn both of those on and I have all the appropriate lights lit up on both routers. Now I have installed the Verizon DSL software on the upstairs computer and I have internet. My problem now is how to get a Linksys WMP54g desktop card the downstairs computer to pick up the signal from the upstairs computer. Also that downstairs computer is running Windows 98. When I go on the upstairs computer to the internet to type in the 192.168.1.1 it comes up as Westell instead of Linksys setup screen. I am stuck at this point and I was wondering if you guys can understand what my problem is and help me solve this. Thank you for your help in advance. If you have any questions or need a better explanation or diagram feel free to ask!

Ok, so you have your westell 6100 router connected to your linksys router? Hmm... Well I can understand why your upstairs computer connects to your westell router instead of your linksys. You need to connect your computer to your linksys router to your computer to access that one instead of the other one. If you connect it to your westell then it will only pick up on that one, even though the westell is connected to the linksys. Also, how far away is the router to the wireless card? There is a certain distance you can go. But then again, I don't own a WRT54g v5 router... So I am not 100% sure. Your router may need to be setup first for the wireless, but I hope I was some use to you.

can someone explain how to set tabs in a writeable pdf form

If you're asking about setting tab stops for a text field, there is not a means to do this. Though you can insert a tab character into a field value programmatically, I've never found a way to do it from the keyboard.

  • WRT54G Problem - Web based setup not displaying

Anyone else had a problem like this?
I've used Mozilla and IE, but I don't actually get anything appearing aside from the basic page layout of the setup page after I log in.
It loads and everything - IE says there's an error on page; but i get hardly any information off the page. I can't even click any of the (where I assume they would be - anyway) links so I can update my firmware.

I have actually got a similar problem. Router work staright out of the box but it is impossible to access the configuration web page. IE or Mozilla just simply cannot access the page as if it did not exists.
I have tried a hard reset and this launched successfully the firmware management mode, I flashed it wit latest version (I got a v5), to no avail.
Any ideas (firewall is off, javascript is enabled) ?
