Wrt54gs v6, ping timed out

hi.
i've bought wrt54gs v6 (upgraded to v1.50.9 firmware) 2 weeks ago and had several problems with it, most of them are solved by now but still 1 left, a very annoying one.
It occurs every few hours - i cannot open the setup page (or it takes ages to open) nor ping the router (returns 'timed out' info), at the very same time my internet connection seems fine (might be a bit slower, but it can be only impression, i haven't actually checked it), and i can ping other computers in my network. After reseting router everything goes back to normal for another few hours, or few minutes sometimes. I tried nearly everythink to solve it, contacted linksys online support, gone through few forums and didn't succeed to solve it.
I've got 4 computers in my network (3 wired and 1 wireless), all running win xp, no firewall is installed on my comp.
Did anyone have similar problem? Is it something wrong with my configuration or can it be the router itself?
Thanks for help.

Well I'm not a professional and I don't own the same router as you but it seems to me it's a download issue. Is it possible you have someone sucking the life out of your internet connection?
I have the exact same issue with a roommate of mine and the reason for the internet being slow and pretty much non-existant is because of BitLord, BitTorrent, UTorrent and any other programs that use multiple ports.
If the version of WindowsXP they minimized the avalible ports that used to be avalible in Windows2000 and earlier versions. In doing so there are fewer ports and more activity on these ports.
But in the end if someone is using BitTorrent in your home they are sending out multiple packets and the outside world is sending multiple packets to your door step. Now if you want good download speeds with BitTorrent you have to open the floodgates and allow people to upload from your machine too. That is the beauty of BitTorrent. However, in doing so your router is bottlenecked and hense you have no internet.
Hope this helps you find your problem.

  • Occasionally got 'Request timed out' when trying to do Ping test on the server. What likely will be the cause?

    I want to troubleshoot what causing the connection unstable between workstation and server. When i try do the ping test, the reply sometime 'Request timed out' Any idea what likely the cause of this issue?
    I tried change network adapter, change network cable, change network port, reassign different ip address to the server. Still the result remain. I got another server on the same rack and same ip segment(base), but the other server is ok.
    Any idea on this guys?
    Thanks.

    Hi S.Akmal,
    The request timed out also can caused by the remote computer no replayed, you can try to check the remote server whether it have some network issue, you also can connect this
    server to another server directly(just connect them with cable) then try the ping then can determine whether issue occur on this server.

  • Ping - Request Timed Out

    Anyone any ideas why I cannot ping my IP address? All I get is 4 lines of Request timed out
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Unless you are using static/permanaent IP addresses, the address you have can change.  First I would make sure that the address that you are pinging is the correct address.  If you are on windows open a cmd/command prompt and run ipconfig, you should be able to figure out the IPv4 address from this and use that in the ping.  If this fails then as Ectophile says you likely have a software firewall that is blocking the ping - have you recently install an anti-virus suite that includes this?
    Assuming that this works and that you have home wifi/lan, from the ipconfig output there is also a 'Default Gateway' address, this should be your router, try pinging this address.  If this works then everything is should be fine from your pc to your router.
    Next, in your router config somewhere it should give you the IP address that it got from the network, ping this to verify that you can communicate from your pc to the external interface on your router.
    Taking this further, on the same screen on your router there is likely information for the routers 'Default Gateway', if you ping this address it tells you that you can ping from your PC through to the exchange equipment.

  • Timed out Ping Result

    I have difficulty to connect FP-1601 to my computer using MAX. "The connection to remote device timed out." message pop up everytime. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    If you already assigned an IP address to your module, try pinging it first (Start>>Run>> Ping x.x.x.x).
    If you don't get an answer the problem is there. A common cause for this is using a wrong cable. If you are connecting directly from your network card you will need a cross cable.
    Another potential problem is firewall blocking. You need to allow MAX in your firewall.
    Yet another is not being on the subnet as the device and having the subnet mask block your communication.
    Did you manage to talk to it in the past?
    Does it have an IP address?
    Attached please find the Pinging result.

    A couple of Dont's:
    DON'T start a new thread to continue the discussion. It only makes it less likely you will get an answer. Simply reply in the original thread.
    DON'T post bmp files. Paint in Windows XP can save files as JPG, PNG, and GIFs.
    OK, so you can ping it (assuming that's the device, you should disconnect it and run the ping again to make sure. If there is no answer, it means it is the device).
    In that case, it's possible that the firewall is blocking MAX. Do you have any other networked controller connected which work?
    To allow MAX in the firewall go to the firewall settings (probably in the control panel) and find the list of the allowed programs. Add MAX to that list and see if that helps.
    Try to take over the world!

  • OC4j ping attempt timed out

    Hi
    We have a standalone oracle application server 10.1.3 with a J2EE application deployed to it which provides webservices to support a website. Intermittently the performance of the application deteriorates and then the oc4j instance restarts itself.
    We see the following entries in opmn.log
    OC4J ping attempt timed out
    [libopmnoc4j] Process Ping Failed: oc4j~<instance name>~default_island~1 (1132071111:2340)
    [libopmnoc4j] Process Unreachable: oc4j~<instance name>~default_island~1 (1132071111:2340)

    [pm-process] Process Alive: oc4j~<instance name>~default_island~1 (1132071111:2996)
    Following note 761675.1 on metalink we added the following parameters to opmn.xml
       <ping timeout="60" interval="60"/>"
       <data id="reverseping-failed-ping-limit" value="5" />However the note does not specify where in opmn.xml the lines should be placed. We are hoping that these parameters will prevent the oc4j instance from restarting when the performance deteriorates.
    I managed to get the parameters into a valid place in the file but am concerned that they are not in the correct place to have the desired effect. The relevant part of opmn.xml below - does anyone know if the parameters are in the correct place?

    After searching thru the internet, I've found :
    CSCsb46264
    Symptoms: When a dialer interface is configured as an endpoint for a  IPSec+GRE tunnel, tracebacks with bad refcount may be generated.
    Conditions: This symptom is observed on a Cisco 837 when router-generated packets such as routing updates are being switched.
    Is that possible that the root of the problem was that ? Thank you.

  • Westell 7500 (2nd one) intermitant internet, timed out pings.. etc etc

    welll, where to start,
    About 1 week ago we started having issues with slow too no internet.
    Let it go for a day or so before I called Verizon.
    The automated lady does a line test. They see a problem. I end up talking with a person, run through all the normal stuff.
    They send out a tech.
    When the tech comes he deduces quickly that I have line issues.
    So he orders a new run to my house made. I guess.
    Next day around 3:00 pm the internet dies completely. Dead. Blinking DSL light no internet light.
    So I call back up, they can't send someone that day so the next day they can.
    So I stay home yet again.
    They came on Thursday and after about 15~20 he figures out how they wired up out side does not match up what i have in the house. So we go downstairs rewire that one port.
    It works... yeaaa.. and it is SCREAMING...
    After about 2~3 hours of surfing/game playing.. the internet dies, intermittently,  again.. back too step one.. great...
    Soo i am furious at this time.. I call again.. after about 2hours on the phone and 4-5 different people.. i have someone coming the next day... that is day #3 for no work.. thank gawd i have tons of days to lose. The one advanced tech i talked to said well lets send you a different modem and a different model. I was happy happy .. great let's get rid of the 7500.
    So I stay home. The usual, stay here to from 8am~5pm for the tech.. At 3pm i start to worry that they forgot about me. Well i called and after 15~20 mins i find out they did .. Oh and my new modem showed up, wow that was fast. And its an 7500 *sigh*.
    Well found out the modem he wanted to give me is no longer aloud to be shipped so they shipped me the same model.
    Well after I  found out that there was no one coming i just installed the modem myself.
    I plugged it in. It works. So i am ok at this point in time.
    Well later on that night i have NO internet again. At this point time i set fire to the house. Just kidding but that is how I felt.
    sooo here some data ..
    from right now this is what my ping to my modem looks like....

    HELP PLEASEEEE

    All righty .. got another tech in here... he is actually very good and is just as confused as i am... did i mention i am windows system admin for a college... well anyways... unfortunately networking is not my field..
    I do not have good news as, i am still having problems.. about 1.5 hours after he left i got a time out again.. solid dsl no internet...
    Mind you this is a brand new 7500 modem...
    I have been reading about a possible issue with the modem "over heating" because of the wireless.. and that if you turn it off this issue will go away.. the timeouts that is...  I refuse to even try this as this is not a solution .. so i tried dropping my wireless down to B and no wep, just MAC address filtering... I also lengthened the amount of time that the ssid broadcast goes out... figured less is more.. less work it has to do the less heat it will produce...
    well this is to no avail..
    As for you people with slowness issues... cause mine really isn't slowness at this time..  They replaced the run to my telco box and that seem to help... i am getting great speeds... i just can't stay on...
    hope any of this helps...

  • Getting the messeage request timed out when trying to ping

    I can't ping but can be pinged. Done all the steps here: /t5/Hamachi/Ping-Request-Timed-out/td-p/121480 still no succes. I have made rules regarding hamachi in my firewall and i have ran diagonstics in hamachi, it says everything is allright, but still the pings doesn't work. Can be pinged though. I am running Win 10 64bit.  But one thing that have caught my interest is this, the hamachi network driver seems to not have a internet connection, but maybe this is normal? : https://gyazo.com/bfbe4e6bcf0b0caff44fdadabaaae865 Translation from swedish:IPv4 Connection: No Network Connection.IPv6 Connection: No Internet Connection. I hope someone out there has the answer to my question! Thanks in Advance!! Best Regards, FiskarN, AkA Elias!

    Hi S.Akmal,
    The request timed out also can caused by the remote computer no replayed, you can try to check the remote server whether it have some network issue, you also can connect this
    server to another server directly(just connect them with cable) then try the ping then can determine whether issue occur on this server.

  • Tnsping timed out using dg4odbc from Oracle to MYSQL through ODBC

    Hi,
    I encountered problem when trying to connect from Oracle to MYSQL using dg4odbc, hope you can shed some light
    Oracle database is 11.1.0.7 on SUSE Linux 64-bit.
    Since the application which runs on MYSQL DB only offers ODBC driver on Windows platform, so I installed the 32-bit ODBC driver (from ServiceNow) on a 32-bit windows server (driver download from http://wiki.service-now.com/index.php?title=ODBC_Driver) .
    created system DSN: MYSQLDEV, The DSN connection works fine. I then installed Oracle 11.2.0.1 gateway for ODBC 32-bit on the same windows server, the following configurations were done:
    On 32-bit Windows server:
    in gatewayHome\hs\admin
    initMYSQLDEV.ora:

    if listener is not listening to the service, then the tnsping on the windows server should fail as well.
    I don't know why only the tnsping from Linux failed, is it due to the 32-bit ODBC uncompatibility with 64-bit oracle server? or my configuration problem?
    Of course, when I created the DB link from oracle, the connection failed with
    create database link mysqldev connect to xxxx identified by "xxxxx" using 'jelly';

  • "Licensing timed out" when creating to Remote Desktop Connection

    Our company have two site (SiteA and SiteB),  both have its own DC (SiteA.xx.local and SiteB.yy.local).  A Windows 2012 Server setup a Terminal Service.  All SiteB user will use remote desktop to connect to the Terminal Server.
    Sometime it will prompted an error "A licensing error occurred while the client was attempting to connect (Licensing timed out).  Please try connecting to the remote computer again."   Before this error message shown, the connection box
    will show the status "Estimating connection quality" for a while (my last test this will stay for 2 min 30 sec. before Licensing timed out prompt).
    When we face this error,  the only way to solve it is to reboot the Terminal Server.  Once reboot,  everything will be fined,  all user can connect again.   But sometime later (no fixed time period, from two hours - two days), user
    will then have this problem.  But we need to reboot server again.
    I can't found in what situation this error will happened.  But we do experienced the following situation.
    1. Sometime the a RDS Connection just stopped directly.  Then try to reconnect but failed.  In this case,  all other users are still using it.
    2. I try to unplug a network connection for a client, it show the connection is lost and trying to reconnect.  After I plug the network back.  Cancel the reconnect process.  Then open the remote desktop again it will have the error.
    3. there has two machine will never have this problem (we have this problem for 3 months).  no matter how the connection lost.  it can built up the connection once the connection is back
    I followed some forum to enable the netlogon.log.  On the Server, I found:

    Kenneth Lai

    Hi Kenneth,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Please check the setting and workaround as per below thread.
    RDP connection hangs on "estimating connection quality"
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/18819bef-5c01-4849-9c61-afb7e8c8a581/rdp-connection-hangs-on-estimating-connection-quality?forum=winserverTS
    In addition, also check below details.
    Cause:  If you are using Internet Protocol security (IPsec) to help protect traffic over TCP between clients and terminal servers, then packet fragmentation might occur. As a result, some packets might not reach their destination, and
    client connections to terminal servers might fail.
    Solution:  Configure IPsec to help protect traffic over UDP rather than over TCP.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

    1. All the crystal reports are designed by using Crystal Report 2008 Version -- 12.3.0.601
    2. All reports are uploaded to CMC (SAP Business Objects Enterprise XI, Product: 12.1.0)
    3. using Front-End .net Winform
    4. Crystal Report is binding is done using Business View Manager (since having more than one databases)
    5. Business View Manager Connects to Oracle using "Oracle Server" connection
    6. Loading reports as follows
    string queryString = string.Empty;
    SessionMgr sessionMgr = new SessionMgr();
    EnterpriseSession enterpriseSession = sessionMgr.Logon(userName, userPassword, serverName, authType);
    EnterpriseService enterpriseService = enterpriseSession.GetService("InfoStore");
    InfoStore infoStore = new InfoStore(enterpriseService);
    enterpriseService = enterpriseSession.GetService("PSReportFactory");
    Object psrfObject = enterpriseService.Interface;
    PSReportFactory psReportFactory = (PSReportFactory)psrfObject;
    queryString = "Select SI_CUID, SI_ID, SI_NAME, SI_PARENTID From CI_INFOOBJECTS " + "Where SI_PROGID='CrystalEnterprise.Report' " + "And SI_ID=" + ReportId;
    InfoObjects infoObjects = infoStore.Query(queryString);
    InfoObject infoObject = infoObjects[1];
    ReportDocument crDoc = new ReportDocument();
    crDoc.Load(infoObject, enterpriseSession);
    7. All the reports are getting loaded properly and i am able to dynamically set the report parameters
    8. After executing report, some of the reports take more than 10 minutes, due to which shows following error
    Request timed out because there has been no reply from the server in 600000
    Note i have done following:
    1. I have checked stored procedure running through oracle for more than 10 minutes (1 hr, 2 hrs)
    2. Tried simply running crystal report without front-end running perfectly more than 10 minutes (1 hr, 2 hr)
    3. When i run .net winform application for specific reports which takes long time, gives "Request timed out because there has been no reply from the server in 600000"
    Also i have done lot much R&D and spent almost weeks to get resolution but not getting any solution out of it, please help me in this case

    This error is specific to RAS. The default CORBA request timeout is 10 minute = 600000 ms. When the RAS SDK does not get the reponse back from RAS server in 600000 ms it throws this message. Why it works in InfoView\CMC what I believe you refer to as "Front End' application is because InfoView\ CMC don't use RAS.
    1. First make sure that a smaller report wich runs pretty fast ( 1-2 min) works. This will confirm that there is no connectivitiy issues between RAS and RAS SDK.
    2. If you get the efrror for every single report, even the smaller ones, make sure the box running RAS and RAS SDK code( in case they are 2 different) can ping each other with IP, shortname and FQDN. If there is a firewall between them, the RAS port needs to be opened for bidirectional communication. By default RAS chooses a random port for communication with SDK but within CMC you can configure it to use a specific port and open it.
    3. If the issue is specific only to reports that are long running, typically more than 10 minutes, then you need to inclease the CORBA timeout to a value more than what the reports typically would take to process. This is done on client code side or IIS in this case.
    Here are the steps:
    Make the following changes on the application server/system.
    Open RegEdit by going to Start > Run and typing in regedit.exe. Then click Ok.
    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Report Application Server\Client SDK\CorbaAdapter
    Change the value of SendRequestTimeout(ms) to 100000.
    Change the value of WaitReplyTimeout(ms) to 6,000,000 ms. The default value is 600,000 ms and may not be long enough.
    Restart IIS by going to Start > Run and typing in iisreset. Then click Ok.
    Retry the failing application.

  • Request timed out when purchasing music. Fresh install of Win7.

    For the past couple months I have have not been able to purchase music off iTunes without first going into Add/Remove programs and doing a "Repair" to iTunes. Windows Firewall wasn't blocking anything from Apple and even with the firewall totally disabled I would still get the "Request timed out" error. And at the same time I'm getting these errors, a Podcast can be in the background downloading or I can be previewing a song! I eventually gave up and just figured its some random windows bug that isn't very common or its just another example of iTunes sucking for Windows and Apple not caring. I just purchased most of my music off AmazonMP3 which I've been doing more and more of anyway.
    Yesterday I installed a new HDD and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Home Premium from my retail disc. I Installed all the updates then proceeded to install my software and put all my media back in-place. I'm a backup neat-freak so all this happen pretty easily and fast. I purchased a song off iTunes and was pleased to see it working again. Well here I am again suddenly having the issue with the connection timing out when purchasing a song. Firewall is configured fine and again I even disabled it. I know its not Windows now as there haven't been any new Drivers or Updates installed since I last purchased a song. I even tried different network adapters! What the heck is going on?
