WRT54GS V7 With SpeedBooster: Connection Cut Out...

Greetings My parents bought me a router for my 17th birthday, in april 23 of this year, but ever since I got it, its been nothing but Trouble... It will connect and disconnect when ever it chooses... It won't send a connection to the other computers that are hardwired into the ports most of the time... It will turn it self on and off whenever it chooses and it will disconnect when I try to connect to 192.168.1.1 I have talked to tech support for probably a total of 8 hours over the course of the time I have had it... I tryed to fill out a RMA form but it keeps telling me my case number is wrong... I would type it down like this EX: 080801-054874 (not my real caseID) and it says remove the dash, and I do and it says that it is still wrong... can anyone help me solve this problem before I snap and kill all of my linksys products?... thanks in advance...

Did you tried upgrading the firmware of the router ??
I am not sure about the RMA form you are filling .....

    The only way is to connect the iPod to a computer with has an internet connection and iTunes and restore the iPod. Use as friiend's computer or make an appointment at ther Geniuds Bar of an Apple store.

  • Airport Express and iMac connection cuts out all the time

    I have an Airport Express set to 802.11n with b and g compatibility. It is connected to a DSL modem with a static IP address via an Ethernet cable. I use a MacBook Air in the same room as the AE. In another room, I have a 24" iMac (Intel). The iMac is always connected to the AE network as is the MBA. Everytime I make a connection to the iMac (via Screen Sharing or other), the connection cuts out after awhile. There is no interference with the iMac connection, the AE is using a channel no one else around me is using, it just suddenly stops receiving any packets from the AE. I have to open Safari, wait for a website not to load, click on the Network Diagnostic button, go through the reconnection process to the AE network and then it comes back and tells me all is OK. The energy saver is set so the computer never falls to sleep and it is not related to the screen saver coming on.
    It just stops sending data to the iMac. All firmware and software are up to date. I have the same problem when using Back to My Mac outside the home. Sometimes I can connect and sometimes I can't.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi, Thanks for the suggestions. Here are the answers to your questions:
    Channel selection is on Automatic. I have tried switching channels on both my DSL router (and it doesn't go to the channel I select!) and on the AE. Performance is the same.
    iMac still drops connection even if MBA is not logged onto the network.
    Screen Sharing's performance is poor, even if iMac is receiving other internet data (Safari or iTunes downloads)
    MBA always has a good connection
    Each machine is using 10.5.5. This problem exists only in the last couple of months when my DSL provider (all Linux) changed some of their configurations.
    I will try to do the terminal exercise today. So far this am and last night, no dropped connections. Go figure!

  • BT Home hub 4 intermediate connection cut outs, no...

    Hi there I have had this problem for months now and am looking for help as the phone call seems useless.
    Basically my BT broadband wont connect at all. Initially it was intermediate off and on's with the orange flashing light when it was down. But now it is always not connecting and sometimes has a flashing light but is now down with a blue light aswell.
    I have done the following with no success:
    BT have sent me a new router
    changed filter
    changed all wiring
    I only use wired (not wireless)
    Put straight into (master/test) socket line was still went down.
    Tryed test socket with new router, new filter, new wires
    Tried normally resets, tried pin reset
    Tried leaving it on constantly for a week!
    Been told by bt on the phone nothing wrong with my connection
    Running out for things to try I can't post speeds or test it as I cant connect. See log below. please help

    Yeah it connects, then dies basically instantly (20-30s) then maybe flashes orange for abit then goes back to blue (but is still unconnected). I then restart it and the the whole cycle starts all over again.
    I have broadband only, as I use it for my xbox etc so its not connected up for phone line.
    There is no exchange problems in my area.

    You have to make sure you have stop your antivirus and firewall program in disabled state duwing the download. I also have same issue earlier and it fixed by disabling the antivirus and firewall program.

    My AEBS (802.11n, non-Gigabit version) does the same thing: drops the disk connection during a large file transfer from time to time. Makes the AirDisk problematic for backups.
    The AEBS is at 7.2.1

    If it doesn't do it when you play music through the iPod app, or Pandora, to the Jambox then you need to update the FLAC software or contact the developer.

    My mac (above) keeps losing airport connection (to my BT homehub router-which is newish)- Has been running fine for years-changed my router-was still running fine for a few weeks AND NOW....keeps cutting out wireless signal for no reason. I have other macs/comps on same signal (nearer router also!) which are unaffected-only mac mini is... I have tried everything I can think of and been on forums etc all day...
    Cuts out-won't recognise my router- then after a restart it sometimes comes back on-sometimes just comes back on itself after an hour or so also.... When its on, the signal gradually loses strength till it gets to zero-then disconnects and won't recognise any wireless devices (it usually lists a few that are in my building)....SO- router is OK as other comps are fine- it must be mac mini fault- have had no software updates recently either-so really don't know what to do next! help!

    thanks for your reply-I have tried every channel possible (before posting my first post)- but like I say -it connects fine at first (sometimes-especially if comp has been shut down overnight)-then after about 15-30 mins the bars start dropping and then it goes and won't come back on... I know it is not the router as my other mac (which is further away from router and also is a much older computer) has never had any problems like this before and doesn't have any while the mini is disconnecting..
    I have tried everything I can think of and have spent hours and hours reading through other similar posts- but can't find anything that works....
    If the mini macs have a weak antenna then why has it been ok in connecting since I bought it (was one of the first mini's to come out) ? Do you think it gets weaker with age? Why is it ok for a bit then disconnects,then is ok, then is not etc etc ??
    Thanks for your help anyway-any other suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated as I am about to throw it out the window!!cheers.

    I have a WRT54GS wireless router of version 4.
    It has 3 PCs (one desktop, wired, 2 laptops, wireless), 2 iPhones and one Mac connected to it.
    All PCs and iPhones are working fine and get good signal and stable connection.
    The one Mac, however, can't seem to make it...
    The connection keeps dropping and when I try to conect again I get a connection timeout (-6). After few attempts I, most of the time, are able to connect and get very good signal, until the next time it dropps.
    Things I already tried so far:
    I updated the firmware to the latest one, from the Linksys support site.
    I resterted the router few times as well as the Mac.
    I changed the channel (from 6 to 9). 
    Help... Please...

    DIdn't help...
    Tried changing to WEP, removing security completely, all kinds of tricks, including, now, chnging the MTU from 1500 to 1350.
    No luck.
    The odd part is that I sometimes get a signal and then it is very strong and fast. Few minutes (best case) later it starts losing the connection quality to complete drop.
    I, then, get on the Mac "connection timed out" message.
    I start getting very tired of this. Look slike I will give up soon and buy something else.

    Today my bt home hub has been cutting out at random, (orange light would light comes on for about 20secs, then turns blue again)
    has happened 4 times or so today.
    Ive tried restarting the home hub, this works but still cuts out after a random time.
    The openreach modem was replaced by bt a few weeks back, (faulty)

    I am working on creating an application to check pop3 emails and send emails using smtp. I have implemented almost everything. It works fine if I run it with debugger [Step by step] but it fails when I run the application on emulator. It never connects to the pop3 server and runs out of memeory.

    Remote works perfectly fine but whenever I try another AirPlay app it cuts in and out.  Driving me crazy. I have att wifi with an airport express.  Any ideas?  Why would AirPlay work with Remote but fail with every other app?

  • Airport wireless connectivity cutting out

    For the last couple of months the Airport icon indicates it is still connected and that the signal is full strength, but pages simply do not load.  I have to physically turn the Airport off and then back on for pages to load.  This happens every 2-5 minutes.  My Airport/ wireless functionality has worked perfectly up until this point.
    Not an ISP issue as other devices in the house work just fine (TV, MacBook, iPad, iPhones, work laptop, etc).  Just the iMac with this issue.
    From memory, started getting a Citrix error message coming up just prior to the Airport issue, so I deleted Citrix from my system (as didn't think I needed it??) ... could the two things be connected?
    Have plugged in an ethernet cable to complete all the recent security updates that were pending, but updates haven't made any difference.  Ethernet cable great, but not ideal so not a long term solution.
    Any thoughts out there pretty please?

    Hi, I have found this site very helpful since buying my first mac in 2011.  This is my first post. 
    I have noticed a new problem today while using my firewire800 external hard drive.  Each time I plug it in, as soon as its recognized, my internet connection stops working.  I do not lose my connection with the router, only my ability to access actual web content.  When I eject the hard drive, and then pull the firewire plug out, the internet will start working again.  I use the hard drive as my time machine drive, as well as storing photos etc that I don't want on my actual computer taking up memory.
