WRT54GS Ver 3 wont forward ports.

My WRT54GS won't forward ports after a reformat. I have done proper port forwarding before and followed the same process of forwarding a port. I also set a static IP to be sure I am opening the right IP. Using the Utorrent checker (http://www.utorrent.com/testport?port=6881) and www.canyouseeme.org i am unable to see any ports. But when I run Utorrent, it magically opens the port its using without issue. I do not know what the issue is and any help would be vastly appreciated.

The status page looks like this:

  • WRT54G new, Ports wont forward and more...

    Hello,
I just got this new Wrt54G router with air-pipe isp. And i have ran into a number of problems.. i have tried to self fix them and have gotten no where.. soo where to start.
My router will not connect to the World of Warcraft downloader or any other part, it says "Behind Firewall"
So i looked up the problem, tried forwarding ports that are needed. i used a static ip i created. i dont know if i should be using it. The download wont even download .001 kb so nothing there.
My Routers config is at the Standerd DHCP setup. (no other games will work. either)
I have unchecked Block Anonymous Internet Requests in security.. still nothing. Turned of my computers Firewalls and everything.
I have one other computer connected to the router. i dont know if it makes a difference. And i am running windows Vista Home
    Problem #2, Xbox Live.
This will connect, but it shows a very poor connection and it states because the NAT is on moderate. Not open like it should be. So i have again tried to Port Forward the needed ones, Nothing. Firewall is turned off, Nothing. Tried to give the Xbox a Static IP and then use the DMZ option. Nothing.. So any walk through, guides, ideas. anything will help. its getting really frusterating.
ps, im only 15... try and put and explanations into "Lamens" terms xD Thanks.

Try to hard reset your Linksys Router and re-configure it, Press and hold the reset button for 1 minute...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 1 minute and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...Check if that makes any difference, else you need to Upgrade your router's firmware...You can download the latest frimware from here , Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • WRT54G ver 6 Port forwarding question

Howdy... I just purchased the WRT54G ver 6 router to replace my old wired one that was fried after losing power one night... plugged into a $60 surge protector... but I digress... I have 2 PCs plugged into this router... neither are wireless. I host a website and so I setup the router to forward port 80 to the webserver... The loading of images has become incredibly slow. Probably 3 to 4 Xs as slow as the old router... If I plug my cable modem into the pc direct it seems fine, so I dont see a bandwidth issue or upload problem... Seems to be at the router and more specific where the router is forwarding the request. Has anyone run into this? Are there settings on the router somewhere that I can tweak?

Try to lower your MTU settings.

  • WRT54G Ver. 6 Help Disable Three Security Ports

I have the WRT54g Ver. 6 Wireless router and the Xbox 360 Wireless adapter. To get onto LIVE I need to disable three security ports. UDP 88, UDP 3074, and TCP 3074. How do I do this? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
You can try to forward those ports. Under Applications & Games->Port Range Forward. Give the port numbers and your device ip address.

  • WRT160Nv3 wont save port range forwarding

My WRT160Nv3 router used to save all port forwards, it has recently stopped and I thought it was the firmware. I was right that the firmware was outdated and so I updated it, then I did a full router reboot. The problem is still here though.  I will try to forward port  (start)25565-(end)25565 to 192.168.1.0 and enabled is checked. I hit the save all changes and bam threes no change, just all of my port forward bars empty like how they started. I am becoming very frustrated with this and help would be very appreciated.

Are you trying to open the port for the IP address 192.168.1.0 ?
Try it for a different IP address and see if that works.
If not then I think you can try to re-flash the firmware on the router.
Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. open the setup page of the router and upgrade the firmware on the router. After upgrading the firmware on the router, reset the router and reconfigure it. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.

  • WRT54G Incoming Log Destination Port 520

I am trying to understand why an [Incoming Log Table] entry that recurs, i.e. in the page that presents itself when I navigate to the [Administration] Panel / [Log] Tab, and then click the [Incoming Log] button:
    =================================
    Incoming Log Table
    Source IP = 178.33.xxx.yyy
    Destination Port Number = 520
    =================================
After I clear the Log (i.e. turn it off, save settings, turn it on again, save settings) the entry will reappear after a few days.
I have never seen any other incoming log entry.
Since it has been pressed into service several years ago, my WRT54G has been configured to block any and all incoming connections. The settings as they continue to appear (under the [Security] Panel / [Firewall] Tab) are:
    =================================
Checked (Yes) = [Block Anonymous Internet Requests]
    Checked (Yes) = [Filter Multicast]
Checked (Yes) = [Filter Internet NAT Redirection]
Checked (Yes) = [Filter IDENT (Port 113)]
    =================================
I continue to have disabled all port forwarding, port triggering, the DMZ, and QoS, via the applicable tabs under the [Applications & Gaming] Panel. The WRT54G continues to be configured to operate as a Gateway (via the [Settings] Panel/[Advanced Routing] Tab). No static routes are defined. The routing table show four entries, none of which are remarkable or match in anyway the partial address identified above.
So I am under the impression that my WRT54G should be ignoring everything from the WAN-side.
Even pinging the WAN-side of my router from the outside internet times out.
My WRT54G ver 6 is at firmware level 1.02.8, which, as far as I can tell is the latest issued by Cisco.
I am completely perplexed how such a connection is being established, and do not know if it is or has the potential of causing any harm. My own research indicates port 520 is typically used for RIP protocol, but I have almost zero knowledge of such.
    I certainly appreciate any elucidation.
    My thanks for your attention.

Forgive me if I seem flippant, but I am not sure what kind of "glitch" you are looking to correct. If performing a factory reset procedure were already known to correct a specific problem, then I would seriously consider it. If performing a factory reset did not run the risk of injecting more problems through the process of having to redo firmware updates and settings, then I would seriously consider it. I am truly seeking insight into understanding the nature of the symptoms, and why they may be occurring. I am not looking for trial and accidental success.
    Thank you for you thoughts.
    Hi bonski,
The log means that the IP:  178.33.xxx.yyy (which is from your ISP) sends logs to port 520. Port 520 is your router. I believe it is saying that you ISP simply sends data to your router. This is normal since your router gets internet connection from the ISP. This is by the way base on my understanding about the research I've made.

  • WRT54G Ver.2 Trying to set up Online gaming.

I will give an exact detail on what I am trying to do, so it will help you all determine my problem.
I have a Wireless WRT54G ver.2 router and my buddy has the same type of set-up.
I am trying to set up an online game with my friend playing Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour. When we set-up our game, both of our IP's are the 192.168.1.XXX. I try to connect to his I.P., but it tells me "Connection timed out". We have tried to disconnect the router on his end, and it still gives the same error. When I go into the options in the game, it says my I.P is 192.168.1.100. How can we connect if we are both using routers that have this similar IP. It is a pain in the @$$ to have to disconnect both of our routers just to get a few games in. So this is my situation, and I hope this is enough info to help me out. Thanks in advance. ~Donte

    Hi there!
You need to forward ports (by doing port forwarding on your router) first so it can pass the router's firewall...and by the way, the IP address the game is referring to is the public "Internet" IP address which is on the status tab of your router. For the forwarding instructions click here

  • WRT54G ver 5.0 Blocked from secured sites

We have the WRT54G ver 5.0.  As of Tuesday night we have been blocked from all secure web pages.  Has anyone heard of a fix for this?  I updated to the internet explore 7 on 1/2/07.  The problem seems very new.

    Hi…
First thing make sure u have the latest firmware on your router. Change the MTU of the router to 1300. And also forward the ports 443 to  447 for your router.

  • WRT54G ver. 6 can no longer connect to the internet after reset

I reset my WRT54G ver. 6 to clear the password, and now I can no longer connect to the internet with it. I can see the router itself from my PC, but that is all. I've followed the directions here for connection problems, but I can't seem to get an IP Address for it in the Web Configuration tool. Anybody have any thoughts?

Since you reset your router, you need to reconfigure it back again. try the online utility that automates the configuration. download Easy Link Connect utility at www.linksys.com/connect then download "Netset" and follow instructions.
if not Easy Link connect didnt work then you need to do the configuration manually.
    1. check physical connection modem should be connected wired to internet port of the router then PC to numbered ports of the router.
    2. Brighthouse i believe is cable connection, right? try power cycle your devices (turn off modem and router then turn on modem 1st then router next). check if your online.
    3. if not. check PC ip. click "start" then "run" type in "cmd" then press "OK". the command prompt should pop-up. type "ipconfig" and check IP and gateway. you should be getting an ip: 192.168.1.x and gateway: 192.168.1.1
    4. access router. open IE, then type in http://192.168.1.1 on address bar.
    5. you will be prompted with username and PW. "admin" is the default password. on setup, just below are subtabs. select "MAC address clone". in it, set "mac clone" to "enable" then click on "clone" then "save settings".
    6. power cycle devices again. try to go online
note: if you dont have latest firmware. try updating if needed

Is the IP address 192.168.1.105 really the IP address of the server in your LAN?
Moreover, check what kind of modem you have. Follow the instructions here. If the IP address on the status page is a private IP address and the IP address on whatismyipaddress.com is different then your modem does routing too and you have to configure port forwarding there as well.

  • Need alot of help setting up a WRT54G ver.6

Ok, all i have is the router, (WRT54G Ver. 6 - Wireless G Broadband Router) Ive lost the box it came in, and everything with it. (I also have the power supply & 2 cords) A friend of mine setup everything for me at my old apartment, but Ive moved and have to do everything on my own this time.
At my old place my computer was the central computer where the broadband modem was, my roommate had a wireless usb card of some kind, that allowed him to connect to the network.
This time i have to have another computer as the central comp and i need a wireless usb card myself. I dont know what kind to get and how much it will be, any suggestions.
I also dont know how to set everything up, and what type of hardware/software i will need, i was hoping all the drivers and sofware would be online but im not sure. Im not sure if the computer here needs a different network card or something similar either.
Im also worried about how my computer is already setup, will i have to delete and redo all the settings already in effect, how do i do all this stuff
Any advice would be very appreciated, i know nothing at all, not even what wires plug into what.

setup modem connected to the internet port on the router and pc to the regular port on the router...reset the router for 10sec. then turn if off for the same amount of time while the router is off turn the modem as well.whats the model of your modem?

  • WRT54G Ver 6 Constant Need To Reset!

I purchased a WRT54G Ver 6.0 Router in April to bring to Iraq with me.  I have it connected to my iDirect 3000 Satellite Modem, with the static IP config input into the WRT54G.
I have two computers on my desk, my personnal XPS 1710 with Vista and my Work D600 Latitude with XP.  Both computers exhibit the same problems at the same time.  I have even had other computers connected and have had the same problem.
My problem seems to be a constant need to reset the WRT54G Router.  I was connecting wirelessly.  The system seemed to operate fine for a day or two.  I started to have problems with the connection to the internet dropping.  When it did this, I could not connect to the WRT54G setup page either.  I figured something locally here at the Camp in Iraq might have been interfering with the wireless, so I ditched the wireless and have been using wired connections.  The problems have not stopped.  I am constantly having to unplug and reset the router to reconnect.  When it hangs up, I cannot even connect to the setup page.  Occasionally, it will find itself without reseting the router, but most times, I have to reset.
I have tried factory default reseting and manually reentering my settings.  I have just updated the firmware, but it didn't seem to solve anything.  In the past few minutes while trying to search for this problem here on this forum, the router dropped the connection twice.  The networking icon on the computer still indicates a connection, on the Vista is shows that a local connection is available only (during the problem).
I have read a little online and this seems to be a common problem for Linksys.  I have 2 more of these routers, one at home and one at my office in the States.  Both have had the problems, just not as severe.  This router requires reseting at least 15 times a day during my 12 hour shift.
I bought the Linksys Routers because they did have a reputation for reliability and quality.  Boy, I guess I should have researched this one a bit more.
I have 5 IP addresses from my Satellite ISP, so I am considering configuring the Router as a Switch or HUB, but I am unsure on how to do this, or of it will even solve my problems.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Vincent

I am having the almost exactly the same problem. It started about a week ago, (just like alot of others I have read on here recently) and I too will have no access to the set up page once it drops the net. I can still acess other computers on the router, but no net and no router set-up page until I reset it. I'm running the same router, without the firmware update. I have 4 desktops directly into the router..and one laptop wireless. Most of the time, the net will stay on for all the computers for surfing and email. Maybe once or twice a day it will drop access to the internet. a simple unplugging of the power cord resets it and everything is peachy. BUT....try to start a download.(usind DAP *download accelerator plus* or a bit torrent)...WHOA! it's anywhere from an instant drop to maybe ten minutes then drop. Most assuredly it will drop. we have had this router since January, and until a week ago, it worked just fine. no problems. Last week, our ISP upgraded their equipment and increased the bandwidth. (we have to use a cellular connection with a static IP being out in the boonies far enough that cable and DSL are still not available) The problems started at the same time and I thought it might be a problem with them. After testing one of the computers with a direct connection to the internet modem, everything, including a major download, worked just fine. It is definately a router problem. I spent quite a lengthy time on the phone with Linksys tech support, and the nice lady had me change the MTU rate from 1500 to 1300. It seemed to work, but about an hour after being done with the support call, things started to go wonky again. I am just about at my wits end!! Nothing has been changed on the router settings except that one thing that tech support instructed me to do. I am kinda leary about upgrading the firmware because I have been seeing a ton of *my router wont work with firmware update* or *now my router is frozen* posts. I have to type in a ton of settings because I am using a static IP and I really don't want to do all that again!! lol PLEASE, somone have a solution to this problem! It is driving me mad!! I would really hate to have to buy a new router, but my roomate is about to that point if this doesn't get fixed soon.

  • WRT54G Ver 7.0

I have WRT54G Ver 7 router  I bought linksys router and hassel as well
I have exhanged 2 routers with linksys the same version and they both have the same problem.
It works fine for few hours and after that it starts disconnecting sometimes after every 5 or 10 minutes and sometimes after 1 or 2 hour .I have talk to linksys people for hours and they want me to reset the router change the channel, port setting ,server ip but nothing works.
2days before i got my replacement router for the first 5 hours it works very good but after that it start the same problem .Previous version of routers work very fine .
I took a router from my friend it was WRT54G Ver 2 and it works very fine I used that router for 2 days no disconnection or signal problem.
Linksys people can't resolve this problem its out of there hands because they send me new router and that takes a week or more time nothing else they can do.If anybody else have anything to solve this issue is welcome I am going to buy a new router can anybody suggest a good one.

    Hi Fadeel,
I have exactly the same problem. My previous version (v2) broke down and I received a version 7 instead.
Took me some houres to figure out that the problems I had were caused by the router itself.
Also a long chatsession with Linksys USA and phonecalls with the local helpdesk. But Linksys people are very nice and helpfull, but do not always know were they are talking about, in my humble opinion. Got the advice to upgrade the firmware (there isn't any  ) while they knew what the version was.
I bought a (secondhand) version 2.2 and it is working fine now.
I expect that we will have a new firmwareversion soon, but we as customer are running a "User Acceptance Test" while we normally pay for the stuff. Not Cisco worthy!!
My version is a -EU one, yours too?
    Best regards, Rob.
