WRT54GS2 hangs frequently when using Access Restrictions

I have a WRT54GS2 with firmware 1.0.02. Recently I started using Access Restrictions creating 3 policies configured for daily/24hour access with website blocking by URL and URL Keywords. Blocking 3 sites and 15 keywords. It works fine but now the router hangs ever so often seemingly randomly. When it hangs I loose internet connectivity from my computers and I have to power cycle the router to restore function. Without the Access Restrictions it seems to run stable for weeks without any problems. Any ideas or workarounds? Any firmware fixes on the way?

I tried with a single rule after the reset procedure and still had problems later on. Like this: Internet Access Policy 1 set to Enable, Allow, Everyday, 24 Hours, NO blocked servies, NO web site url blocking, 6 adult key words. Runs fine sometimes for many hours but then suddenly the router disappears. I have multiple devices (iPhones/iTouche/wired PCs, wireless laptops) in the network going through this router. I've disabled the policies this evening to verify that it's stable without access restrictions.

I am convinced that a few Linksys routers such as WRT54G2 and WRT54G have a major issue when blocking web sites using Access Restrictions (Internet Access Policy). After a few hours of internet access by 15 wired users the Linksys locks-up and blocks all internet web access. The only solution is to restart the power on the router.
We are currently using a Linksys WRT54G2 v1 (firmware 1.0.04). We upgraded the WRT54G2 v1 firmware to the latest 1.0.04 version which did not resolve the issue. NOTE: We were previosuly using a a Linksys WRT54G v1.1 (firmware 4.21.1) until the power supply blew a week after we started blocking web sites using Access Restrictions (Internet Access Policy).
Basically, we have a T1 internet connection and a hub connected to the Linksys router. We are trying to block several web sites such as facebook, myspace, etc. for 15 wired users. We do not use wireless connections.
This is the 2nd time it happened with 2 different models.
Please help ASAP.

Also, you have already upgrade/re-flash the firmware of your Linksys Router you need to reset and reconfigure your router from scratch. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

Setup more than one policy in one day using Access Restriction

Anyone can tell me how to set up two policys in one day using Access Restriction ?
For example:
For Weekdays, before 6pm, no restriction to use internet. after 6pm, internet ok, but certain web site or ports need to be blocked.
I can set up policy for after 6pm but then before 6pm, the router consider no-internet access period.
Any advise ?

what you just need to do is to set the policy to allow from 6PM upto the time you wanted your router to give internet access... and just set the status to enable.. type in the LAN mac adress of your router in the edit PC list, then save the settings

WRT160Nv3 problem with blocking traffic using Access Restrictions

Hi.
I want something quite simple. Block Youtube. I go into "Access Restrictions", choose a name for policy 1, enable it, choose the pc from the pc list, but then...
if a click Deny, all other options will be disabled (greyed out, can't click nor write on them).
Therefore, I can't put the urls I want (youtube).
I tried writing the url with "allow" and then change it to "deny" but it will block ALL traffic.
No good.
So, how do I make a new policy just to block this one URL?
Is it normal that when I click and choose "Deny" everything gets disabled afterwards?

for internet access policy DENY means to restrict internet access during specified days and hours. this will block ALL internet traffic for the said schedule. website blocking by URL, blocking by means of keyword and blocking applications would then be NOT AVAILABLE as the computers would not have internet access to begin with if you have such a policy disabled.
for your case, you may want to try to set restriction to ALLOW internet access then specify youtube.com under Website Blocking by URL. this would allow computers to have access to the internet all the time (if you have the schedule set to EVERYDAY) or during specific days and hours but NOT have access to youtube.

Extreme mouse cursor lag when using Accessibility Zoom (Fullscreen) in Yosemite

I have a Retina MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite (10.10), clean installed, connected to an external Thunderbolt Display. When I zoom in using Accessibility, I experience a very prominent lag, moving my mouse cursor (either with my Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad or the built-in Trackpad) around or when zooming out. It is especially visible when zoomed in on applications like Calendar and Mail. This never happened in Mavericks. My settings are as follows.
I've tried creating a new user account on my Mac and the problem still persists, which leads me to believe it's a bug with Yosemite.
Anyone else have the same problem?

I also have the same exact problem. I have a i5 iMac Mid 2011 with an upgrade to 10.10 Yosemite connected to an external display. I like you never had this issue with Mavericks. Zoom is so painfully slow now that I had to disable it. My iMac has 12 GB of RAM and even with no apps opened, zoom is killer slow.. makes me want to punch a wall-kinda slow.
I think it's clear to say that something is up with 10.10.. some bug.

No problems with other web pages e.g. BBC, Amazon, Wikipedia...
Also, no previous problems with version 3.

Lots of hang ups when using iPhoto in full screen mode

Has anyone else got this problem or a solution? I find that iPhoto hangs up or give strange action when in ful screen mode. The other day, for example, I had two iPhoto windows showing, one in full screen and one normal window on the desk top! Another day the system became unresposive and I had to force quit iPhoto to get it back. Another day I had to re-boot the machine entirely. All other full screen apps work fine.
I am on MacBook black, 2GB memory. OS X Lion fully updated.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

Account Visibility using Access Restrictions in an Enterprise Environment

At my company we have 6 main divisions all on the same tenant, and they all have their own customers. For one division, they have a need to have all accounts with read/write access across their entire sales team. However, they should not have visibility into other division's accounts.
What would be the optimal way to accomplish this?

As a disclaimer this is our experience using our tenant, Cloud for Service.
From the Administrator>General Settings>Business Roles, select the role you would like to edit, and then select Edit. From there, you will see the next steps in the screenshot below.
I selected the Queue that I want to restrict this role from seeingI also selected a Work Center as well
I then set how that restriction would behave through the Restriction RuleSelected the Define Specific Restrictions
I then drilled down to the specific team/division that I want this role to have access to, while blocking the items from all other teams/divisions

Can't get a wireless connection on a T43 when using Access Connections

This week I had to set up a laptop for one of the partners of our firm. Since I can no longer use System Update to get all the lenovo apps I had to download everything from the website. Everything seemed to be going fine until I noticed that the wireless card wasn't connecting through Access connections. It only works through Windows connection utility I have the latest version of Access Connections and the correct driver for the wireless card but it just won't work. I remember that when system update was up and running I could download a seperate driver from lenovo that would make the wireless card work with Access Connections. Unfortunately, I can't find it on the website. Can anyone help me?

Error -2147217900 when using Access 2000 - 2003

Hello: I have been trying to write data to an Access 2003 database. I have search for samples and have try all samples but no matter what I do I get the same result see attach. I went to Microsoft and foun that -214721763 to -214721plus is an error for Networking in msdn2.microsoft.com. I have try using Jet engine 4.0, Microsoft Access ODBC, and LabView ODBC. It seems that the sql stament been use does not work with access.

Thanks for your responds. I found the problem and I have correct it. I was a bit tired of trying everything I can think of and searching for a solution. I though about this so I try re-wrote the pogram in LabView 6.1 and be hold it work fine, so I got me thinking whna could be possibly creating this issue after a bit of though I remember that when I was installing LabView 8.5 ToolKit it display some error windows for LabView/CVI and Database Tool 1.01 that I though I have taking care of or the installation did......... so I reinstall LabView 8.5 ToolKit ......
This time it when trough without a problem I allso make sure that the MDAC 2.5 was install. When the installetion for the database come up it ask me for Modify, Repear or Remove I selected Modify the it show that the MDAC was mark for no down load so I select it for download. Now the database is working properly.
I did not think of reinstalling the toolkit at the beginning because the othe SubVI for reading the database (wich it reads 50 columns) work fine with no issues so I though writting to the database should work hummmm...... a bit pasull!!

Hard hang frequently when playing video

My iPad hangs the system often when video is playing, such as youtube,vimeo, and other online clips. So i have to use the power+home button to reboot.
is this normal? or is it just my ipad

There are others reporting this problem as well as me. I bought the iPad for the Netflix, and ABC apps. We are trying to get people to report on this thread when it happens and what you were doing. I am actually watching video now trying to get it to lock up again, but ever since my last sync my iPad has been running perfectly.

Why is my wireless disconnecting frequently when using Safari but not Firefox.

Ever since upgrading to the latest Apple Software on my iMac, I have been experiencing wireless disconnection but just on Safari. Also HTML images in emails are not loading. Firefox works fine.

Hi Sebaz, first try repairing permissions. Go to Applications-->Utilities-->select Disk Utility. Select your drive then select the First Aid button then at the bottom right click Verify Disk and after it verifies your drive click on Verify Disk Permissions on the left. If there any errors click on Repair Disk Permission. Reboot your machine and test your Safari to see if the issue comes back.

Parallel sequence Hang when using Select string in CallBacks

I have posted a problem yesterday explainig that my custom interface in C# was Hanging/Locked when using parallel executions.
=> My application works fine when i run the sequences sequentially.
So i have followed my investigations and i found the origin of the problem.
In my application i use a special process model with 2 callbacks :
ProcessModelPreStep
ProcessModelPostStep
In these callbacks i had to look for a special step. So i write something like :
SELECT RunState.Caller.Step.StepType.Name
CASE "XXXXX"
End
CASE "YYYY"
End
End
I do replace this syntax by :
IF StrComp( RunState.Caller.Step.StepType.Name , "XXXXX" ) == 0
End
IF StrComp( RunState.Caller.Step.StepType.Name , "YYYY" ) == 0
End
And then the application hangs no more !!!!
This problem can be viewed directly with TestStand using a parallel processModel containing the callbacks with the select ....

From your sequence files, it looks like you're using TestStand 2010. I believe you might be running into Known Issue 276979 which was fixed in TestStand 2010 SP1.

E4200 guest network access restrictions

I have the E4200 router with fw v1.0.01.
I need to provide guest access and limit the hours it is available.
I am not able to use access restrictions because when I attempt to enter the range of IP addresses it forces me to use 192.168.1 and the guest subnet is 192.168.33, therefore it never gets a match when the cutoff time comes. I do not know the MAC addresses of the guests and cannot force them to use predefined static IP addresses, so the range of addresses seems to be my only option. It's just that it won't let me input the "33" where it is needed.
Perhaps I am misunderstanding something or perhaps there is some other way to accomplish this.
Please advise.

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure you're right, at least it looks that way. That's a little too open for me. I suppose I could change the config when I want to cut off access, it would just be nice to have it automated.
