WRT54GSv5 stuck in a bootloop

Hello all, Here is a timeline of my adventures in broken-router land: T+0:00-Informed of WRT54GSv5 problem: power led is flashing at a steady 500ms or so rate. Reset twice. No internet access. I determined that IP was non-static; pinging to router's IP returned "Request timed out." Reset. T+0:05-Set IP to static default; Network connections showed Connected. Pinged 192.168.1.1, returned a successful ping. Attempted to access google, with "Server unavailable". Attempted to access 192.168.1.1, with same result. Reset. T+0:10-Downloaded a third-party tftp client to transfer firmware downloaded from Linksys WRT54GSv5 download page. Used Cmd prompt to successfully transfer flash image. Reset 30, 60 seconds. Still no change. Power cycle. Reset. T+0:20-Contacted Linksys LiveChat; told by rep to download tftp.exe from ftp.linksys.com/pub/network (or whatever it is). Attempted proper upgrade, resulting in an "Access overwrite violaton." Changed the name of the firmware from XXX...XXX.bin to XXX...XXX2.bin, which resulted in a successful upgrade. Wait 10 minutes. Reset. Power led now flashes at 1ms intervals for a few seconds, then all lights turn on, then intermittent power led flashes, then repeat the whole thing. In Network Connections, connection status comes and goes every 5 seconds depending on the router's point in the cycle. Pinging the router returns 1 of 2 messages: "Hardware error" or "Destination host unreachable" After another six hours of unsuccessful googling and tech support, I come here wondering if anyone has any ideas. I have done every step I could find and I think the thing is done for. My only hope, I'm guessing, would be to erase the flash, which I don't know is even possible. At no point in this ordeal have I been able to access the router's web app config menu. My one question is, when resetting, is there any indication that a reset is happening? Because when I try to reset, the power led keeps flashing and the cycle continues as if I am not holding the reset button. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks

  • IPhone 4S only powers on when plugged into a wall charger, stuck in bootloop

Today I went to get my phone's screen fixed. At first, the problem was that the phone was rebooting every 3-4 minutes. Then, after it died, it doesn't power on anymore, except when it is plugged into a wall charger. However, it is stuck in a bootloop, where it shows the apple logo for about 7 seconds, then the screen goes black for about 5 seconds, then repeats. I can't unplug it or else the phone goes dead, and plugging it into my computer results in the same deadness. I've tried DFU Mode, Recovery and everything else when plugged into my computer, but it remains dead and black screened. The phone is not picked up at all, it doesn't power on or anything. It only powers on when it is wall charged, but it will bootloop. I can't get past this, and there is no way I can restore it. Help?

Your battery is dead. You will have to replace it see article:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • Help, Bootlooping, Power and Home both broken

    I have an iPhone 5
Screen cracked a few months ago, apple wanted $250 to fix it. Took it to another guy who did it for $140. Basically a terrible experience. Power button was broken at time, and part of the $140 was supposed to go towards fixing the power button. He couldn't fix it but wouldn't refund my money. He also claimed that the home button had been broken when I brought it in. It had been perfectly fine. He replaced it anyway even though it was fine, and replaced it with a cheap part that clicked loudly and sounded like it was breaking the button every time. He also managed to break the ear speaker, so I had to make all my calls with either headphones or on speakerphone, but after 3 weeks of taking it back and trying to get him to fix part after part and him just making it worse I just gave up on the guy.
Terrible mistake, I realize that now.
Eventually the home button stopped working as well. So at this point I had to wait for a notification or plug my phone into the charger to get the screen to turn on.
Couldn't take it to apple bc warranty was voided when other guy fixed screen.
Decided to try to jailbreak, so I could use activator to set the home and power button functions to the volume up and down buttons.
During jailbreak I got stuck on a bootloop (apple logo forever).
Can't go into DFU (recovery) Mode bc both buttons are broken.
Computer wont recognize phone at all.
Tried RecBoot but it wont recognize my phone either.
I got the "ItunesMobileDevice.dll is missing" error
Did some research and downloaded ItunesMobileDevice.dll and QTMClient.dll and put them in
C:/ Program Files / Common Files / Apple / Apple Application Support / RecBoot
Ran Recboot and now I'm getting a Console (Terminal) Window that says
    "USBMuxListenerCreate: No Error"
What can I do besides buying a new phone? I'd really like to keep this one seeing as over the past 20 months I've been paying into the $650 full price, as well as $200 spent on repairs and additional chargers.
I would greatly appreciate any reccomendations that anyone has. Even if its just a hairbrained idea.
Also, any comments like "shouldn't have gotten it repaired by the other guy" and "shouldn't have tried to jailbreak" are really not helpful.
I'm running Windows 7 if that makes any difference.

During jailbreak I got stuck on a bootloop (apple logo forever).

  • RE2000 Range Extender possibly bootlooping

    Hello,
I purchased the RE2000 range extender last weekend. Worked well for a few days and I moved it to a new location. Plugged it in and now the green light on top blinks constantly for a about 15-25s. Then the light will go out and the ethernet light will light up for a second. Then the green light on top starts to blink again for 15-25s. Then repeat. I think it may be stuck in a bootloop and I need help cause there is no quick troubleshoot for this problem.
Also setup with the CD will not connect to the device at all.
    Thanks,
    Alex

What is the model of your router? The RE2000 is designed to extend the wireless range of your main router. It acts as a repeater for the wireless signal and at the same time a wireless bridge for wired devices. From what I know with range extenders, the light will flash quickly every second or so if it has encountered an error.
How far is the range extender from your router? There might be signal obstructions between your router and your range extender.  Try transferring your range extender to another location.  Avoid placing your range extender near metal objects, masonry walls, and reflective surfaces such as mirrors. The best location to setup the range extender is the point where you are getting at least 3 signal bars with a laptop or 50-60% wireless signal strength.
I would suggest that you reset and reconfigure the range extender since it is not working at the moment and you may test it with a wired connection with a laptop to see if it is properly configured. And when you say that it is too hot, did you notice any smoke, flash or flame  coming out of the device? Be safe. Unplug the device immediately.

  • LG Transpyre stuck on verizon logo. Keeps rebooting

I have an LG Transpyre that is stuck in a bootloop on the Verizon logo.  Does anyone have the factory image file I could flash via odin?

    ddroby,
I appreciate you working with us to get this resolved. Place the phone in Safe Mode http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-127466/ and then reboot the phone. If the issue still persist, the next step would be a hard reset http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-127239/.

  • Z87-G45 bios 1.60 boot loop

Noticed a bios update (V1.60) on MSI LiveUpdate, so downloaded .exe update file. Ran the file, walk away from the pc to do some choirs.
When I came back, a bsod (win 8.1) showed up, so I rebooted. Nothing. Rebooted again, nothing. Power off, nothing. Cleared CMOS... Nothing.
Mobo seems to be stuck in infinite bootloop.
Before (on v1.50) everything was running flawlessly.
    What to do?

Now for a bit of a lecture. Then why and for what purpose flash?????
I agree in hindsight, since it went horribly wrong, I shouldn't have flashed. But for the sake of staying up-to-date, like I do with every device and piece of software (like graphics cards, android devices, even my car), I flashed 1.60 hoping for even better performance. Also, prior to this disaster I flashed 1.50 from 1.40 using LiveUpdate and that worked well.  So I guess I didn't see the danger of it. But I learned my lesson now, you can rest assured. Thanks for the wise lecture
I will RMA the board and get a new one from another manufacturer straight away.

  • HP Compaq 8510w BIOS Update failed, stuck in bootloop.

Let me begin with how this happened. I wanted to create a Hackintosh and decided to use my HP Compaq 8510w for that purpose. But since HP whitelists what WiFi cards you can use (OS X is not compatible with Intel), I had to flash a custom BIOS that removed the restrictions. This flashing worked though it would say it failed and should be flashed again. But it would still work and load everything correctly. I finally decided to restore the BIOS but the installation failed and the laptop is now stuck in a boot loop. I want to know is there any way I can recover the BIOS (WITHOUT SENDING THE UNIT IN FOR REPAIRS) or if I need to purchase a new Motherboard for it. I have tried using the Win+B recovery method though I might have done something wrong because the laptop takes no notice. Do I have to use a USB Floppy or can a Flashdrive be used?
    Thanks,
                     Mark

try it without naming the file. there is only one file that is a ROM filetype. That is the EUR5.14 file in the F5.14 BIOS update. There is also a F.5.11 available under XP.  The OS does not matter as this is  cross platform code that is loaded before the operating system.
If the preceding does not work then you wil have to go online and find a BIOS recovery company that is relatively local to you. Their websites cover what you need to do for them (provide a valid  ROM file. (perhaps a eeprom chip matching the one in your PC)
Going to this level is sometimes a bit too much for non techies as it requires acquiring and properly using a special tool to remove and install the CMOS eeprom chip. I have no idea what level of expertise you have.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • IPhone 4s stuck in bootloop after "restore all settings"

Recently, I tried to use the "Restore All Setings" on my iPhone 4S (non-jailbroken), and after it finished, it got stuck in a reboot loop and has been stuck like that for three days. I was wondering how to fix it (If possible without an iTunes Restore) and why this might have happened.

    Hi, TheWasteLandd.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your device is in restart loop, I would recommend restoring the device via iTunes.

  • Motherboard doesnt post / stuck in bootloop

This is my first custom Build, so i may, or may not be a common mistake.
    Build:
    MSI PH67S-C43 Motherboard
Intel Core I5 CPU - stock cooling unit
    Pareema DDR3-1333 8GB (2X 4GB sticks) RAM
    Sapphire/ATI Radeon 5570 Graphics Card
    SilverStone 500W SST-ST50F-ES Power supply
Vortex 36XX Series (Full size tower) Case
All parts are compatible and BRAND NEW. All parts were purchased from www.newegg.com
    Problem:
When build is properly assembled, the system boots for 3-5 seconds, then restarts. nothing is shown on the monitor, and no beeping/buzzing is heard.
If anyone can provide some info on what i am doing wrong, i will gladly accept. if no one replies, i will just get an RMA on the mobo From Newegg. thanks.

    Couple of things to try,
    1. Insert only one mem module in the slot closest to the CPU. Then do a CMOS clear >>Clear CMOS Guide<< Remove the CMOS battery during the process.
    2. Remove the MB and place it on a non-conducting surface, i.e. piece of cardboard.
    3. You don't state the exact CPU, but it may be that the curent BIOS does not support the CPU you have. Check with MSI technical >>How to contact MSI.<<
    4. Recheck your CPU seating for bent pins.

  • Iphone 4S stuck in bootloop, it's not jailbroken

    Hello Everybody,
as you can see in the title i have a problem with my iphone 4s.
Friday night i was just loading my battary as usual, when i woke up at 5 am everything worked just fine. Since i was tired i went back to sleep and woke up a few hours later. The first thing i saw (in shock!) was the apple logo on my iphone.
I switched it off and on again, no boot...
i tried to restore it via DFU mode, nothing...
then i tried to let the battery run out of power, to reload it again. still no signs of ios to boot...
I didn't jailbreak my phone and never had any problems.
The device is out of warranty, any options what i can do?
ps: i'm very sorry for my bad english...

    nothing.
it seemed like everything was alright. itunes restored the iphone.
there was no error message, just itunes telling me that the iphone is rebooting now...

  • Windows 8.1 update attempt bricked the machine in bootloop and now automatic repair loop

Hi, I attempted the windows 8.1 update w. failure.
    =============1st part============
the machine is stuck in bootloop initially, searched the forum and tried several things like the "recovery" options and making a install USB drive to do repairs.  Nothing worked.
Even use the bcdedit commands and other /fixmbr stuff.
I have a Dell Inspiron 14z w. Intel Storage Technology.  So I even went into the BIOS to disable it to use Legacy stuff w. disable Intel Storage Techology.
Any common sense workable help would be appreciated.
    =============2nd part============
I was able to get into the System Restore option, selected a restore point but failure again when the C: drive selection stated "You must enable system protection on this drive" and can't proceed.

    Hi,
About this problem, it seems like there is not any method can fix it, Windows encounter problem during Windows upgrade first boot, Windows 8.1 already installed but new system configuration failed. This is problem why you use install USB drive to repair
    but failed.
In my opinion, it's hard to fix it, the worst result is you may need to reinstall you system. While here is some methods you still can have a try.
    1. Boot into System repair mode as you said. find Command Prompt option.
    2. Open Command Prompt mode, type Bootrec.exe and press
    Enter.
    3. Try to use the command below to fix system.
    bootrec /FixBoot
    bootrec /ScanOs
    bootrec /RebuildBcd

  • Xperia Z3 bootloop after update

I recently tried to update my Xperia z3 and it's stuck in bootloop.
Pc comapnion is not letting me update again because it wants me to turn on the phone which I can't.
    How do I resolve this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You may need to perform a software repair using PC Companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).
