WRT54GX Perfect working order EXCEPT no Wireless signal

I have configured my router and it is working perfectly with all of my hardwired machines, but is not sending a wireless signal.
The SSID broadcast is on, but does not show up on my laptop. Additionally, the wireless LED on the router has not come on ever dispite multiple changes to the wireless settings. I also updated the firmware to the latest version.
Is this a known issue? Does anyone have a solution. Any help would be great.

Try to get the latest firmware loaded on your Router, you can also try not using the wide option on the wireless and see if it becomes more stable. Try this procedure too on the advanced wireless settings:
Lowering the Advanced Wireless Settings on a Linksys Wireless Router
Reconnect your wireless computers and see if they become stable, how far are the computers? Do you also have 2.4 GHZ devices around? Cordless phones?

It's very likely that the phone is permanently damaged - water corrodes the very fine copper strips which form the circuitry very quickly - but only a service engineer can tell you what its condition is and whether it can be restored to health. If possible take it to an Apple Store (make an appointment) for a free assessment. Don't be surprised if you are told you will have to replace it.

Maybe Vodafone can help you by contracting the same contract form that your friend has/had: that was what the subsidy paid for. Anyway you should arrange it with Vadafone, I heard nowadays they will unlock it when the contract period has expired.

Wireless signal droping

4 weeks ago we purchased our new 24 inch iMac Core 2 Duo. Everything works great except the wireless connection with our new Airport Extreme base station. I even used the iMac to set-up the base station and downloaded the enabler for the 802.11n and updated the OS to 10.4.9. I have sppent many ours on the phone with apple techs and they had me try everything from rebooting to reinstalling the OS to moving the machine to another location (only 10 feet from the base station. I have a MacBook Pro with the same processor and sitting next to the iMac gets the wireless signal with no problems. I believe the issue is with the airport card but can not convince anyone, I did take the iMac to the Apple Store ad it worked for about an houre without any interuption in wireless signal. Apple seems to think there is something interfeering with the signal but if that is true then why does the MacBook Pro work and also my old Quick-Silver unti.

I'm not familiar with the internal layout and materials composition of the 24-inch model and the MacBook, but am aware that Apple doesn't hesitate to advise slightly relocating (or angling) the units to test if an improved positioning can be found.
When I got my first Intel-based iMac Feb 2006 and was able to have it side by side with a couple different model iMac G5's, I found it was more sensitive to interference than the older models. There were some posts in these Discussions where some users suggested it was due to the internal layout and materials, specifically the positioning of certain components compared to how they'd been positioned in the older models. My 4th gen iPod touch will not power on, will not charge anywhere, and is not recognized as plugged in by iTunes. This is irritating, as a friend had given it to me in perfect working condition because she got a new 5th gen iPod Touch.

I just got this 4th-gen Touch from a friend because she got a new 5th-gen. when she gave it to me, the 4th-gen was in perfect working order, and I haven't used it since she gave it to me. I had put it in sleep mode and put it on my dresser, wher it has sat without being messed with for two weeks. Now, all of a sudden, it won't power on, it won't charge no matter WHERE i plug it in to charge, and not even a hard reboot has worked. My computer will not even recognize that it is even plugged in. There is no red low battery symbol displayed, nothing to make it seem as if it is charging, and, if it is charging, no response is evoked from it when I tap it, or push any buttons. The warranty on the thing has expired, and I really need to find out what is wrong with it and get it fixed. Can ANYBODY HELP ME????????? if somebody can point me in the right direction, or even help me get it physically fixed, i am willing to give MAJOR points, and it would be greatly appreciated.

When I went home after buying it, I plugged it into my computer to start charging. I plugged it in, and the battery in the iPod exploded, and now it won't power on period, even when it is plugged in or docked. I bought a warranty to go with the iPod because I figured that I was probably going to drop it, and then need it repaired. But Apple cannot even find the purchase record on file from where I bought the AppleCare warranty on it, so now I am stuck with what is now basically a paperweight. What should I do?

Can't get wireless signal from Airport Express

I recently bought an Airport Extreme and Airport Express. The base station is in my office which is separate from my house so I bought an antenna from Macwireless.com. I'm able to play iTunes thru the Express perfectly but there's no wireless signal coming from the Express to connect to the internet. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this?
After reading some other posts I found that my old wireless system wasn't acting up at all. It was Mac OS X 10.4.10. causing the disconnections to the internet. Great. Just great.

I'm able to play iTunes thru the Express perfectly but there's no wireless signal coming from the Express to connect to the internet. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this?
If you have the Express and Extreme in a single Network there will be only one available network name to join. In that single wireless network the Express can be set up to extend range of network by using WDS, or simply as a wireless client that can print or use iTunes. If you check the Airport Utility help files it will give full documentation on how to set up either type of wireless network.

I've tried going through my new MacBook Pro settings and it the diagnostics check, it says network changes detected, I tell it that it "yes" does connect to a cable modem, it tells me to restart it, after I do it asks if there are any other devices hooked up ( firewall) and when I say no it tells me that it can't fix the problem.
Now I know that I probably have a new IP address because of the cable company switching the boxes but it was working fine with the other box, now there isn't a signal to be had on it!
Please anybody out there that can help!!!??

The flashing WLAN light means activity (data getting transferred). Try disconnecting all your devices and check whether the light is still flashing or disconnect the router from internet and do the check.
Do you have your SSID as linksys or the default one? If your neighbor has the same SSID, then traffic could result from your neighbor's one. Try changing your SSID and password. Make your security WPA/WPA2.

Trust me when I say this coming from 20 years of experience.
Get a powered external drive, format it 1 Partition Option: GUID and OS X Extended Journed as the format in Disk Utility.
Download and install Carbon Copy Cloner, clone internal drive to external drive.
Set a schedule to remind you to do it at least once a week, keep it near your charger.
When you plug your charger in, do plug the clone and power the machine up, set the display to sleep only,
CCC will do the rest.
If you want to boot from it, hold the option/alt and select it Startup Manager.
I've seen many TimeMachine and TimeCapsule nightmares and so far haven't seen a problem from anyone using a bootable clone.
It's simple, it's easy, it's more reliable and more powerful than what Apple does and it only takes plugging in a extra cable.
Make as many clones as you want, keep them time seperated, off site etc. etc.
Cables don't have network issues, clones can be verified in seconds merely by booting from them.
Clones protect your productivity, your up in seconds on a clone despite even the hard drive dying.
Software problem? No sweat, boot of the clone and reverse clone your problems away.
If you want to fuss and muss with half implemented TimeMachine and TimeCapsule network headaches then prepare to suffer.
I don't like to suffer, I bought a Mac not to suffer, but it appears you do with TimeMachine and TimeCapsule.

I have a Time Capsule running the firmware version 7.6.1 (the latest) and today for some reason the 2.4 GHz wireless signal stops works and disappears (the signal no longer appears in the list of available netowrks on my iMac or iOS devices). The 5GHz signal remains and does just fine. When I cycle the power on the TC with about 30 sec downtime before powering back on the 2.4 GHz signal comes up just fine; however, after about a half hour to an hour the wireless signal disappears again . I have seen posts on the net that suggest renaming the wireless channels and changing the channel. Will try these but this seems to me to be a bit of a bandaid - while this may help I'd like to know why this is happening so I can perhaps take other actions to prevent it in the future.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The problem with accessing the content of the disks is the CD Drive does not seem to access them. It also has a heck of a time ejecting them. Other disks seem to read. The unit came with imovie disks and I can use them. The disks look perfectly good no scratches but they just don't work, I was hoping I could just get a online copy of the address book to replace the one that seems to be missing. Or find it somewhere on my drive. Have no clue where to look though.

WRT400N Router suddenly has no apparent wireless signal

Have a 400N wireless router that has been working fine with several wireless devices on a small home network for about a year. Nothing has been changed but suddenly all of the wireless wireless devices dropped offline and none see the network signal in their search to reconnect. All of the indicator lights on the router look good and I have unplugged power and reconnected first the cable modem and then the router but still no signal. Logging into the router seems to show that it is working OK but there is apparently no air signal for the client devices to detect so only the wired devices are showing up. It's as if everthing is working except the antenna function. Are there any suggestions short of uninstalling and reinstalling the whole set up and see what happens? I have taken my laptop to a nearby hotspot and confirmed that it is receiving other network signals fine so it has to be something to do with the router itself. Thanks for any ideas.

Hard reset the router and reconfigure it. See if that helps.

WRT160N wireless routher, wireless signal not strong within apartment

I have had the wrt54g for a while now and just recently it stopped working and I had no choice but to get the wrt160n and with lots of difficulty was able to get that going. The wireless signal, on a wpa2personal is fine when I am close to the box which is in the basement of our apartment but upstairs the signal is never as strong as the older linksys wireless router was.
I am really at a loss and the customer service was absolutely no help. I have tried several devices and same result on all of them, max maybe 4 bars for a few min, moslty 1-2 bars.
What is the issue? What other info do you need? any suggestions?
I am a day from returning the box and moving onto another brand or buying the old school one again if I can find it.

Try to readjust the wireless settings on your Router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab
- Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
- Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
- Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
