WRT54GX4 could not detect internet (DSL PPPoE)

I just got the WRT54GX (srx400) router and connected it to my DSL modem using PPPoE.  I could not get pass step 8 in the setup wizard where it tries to configure the router and connect to the internet.    I always get the error that it could not detect the internet/modem and I should try to check if the modem is turned on or the cables are properly connected.   And they are.   I get internet when I directly plug to the modem.
I tried getting thru the setup manually via web interface.   I noticed that under the PPPoE option, the username and password are always the same length and they should not be.   Of course I reentered the correct user and password several times but the password always revert back to the username (my guess given the length though I can't actually see the characters) even after I reset the router several times (30+ secs resets).
Has anyone encountered the same problem?  Please advice.  Thanks!

Thanks for the tips.  However, looks like I bricked the router.  After checking Linksys website, I found a more up to date firmware for WRT54GX4.  Mine had version 1.00.13 and linksys has 1.00.19.  I uploaded the later through the web interface.  The upload stage was ok and completed 100%.  When it was installing, it just went dead and the powerled started blinking.   This has been its state since, even if I reset the router.   From what I gathered, the firmware got corrupted.
Good thing various websites offered procedures how to resurrect a bricked router.  However, I tried all and could not get a response from continuous ping, thus can't execute a tftp.   I'm now deciding on the last resort of shorting the flash and see if this works.   However, I can only get detailed procedures for WRT54G.   Is there a documetation somewhere for WRT54GX4?
This will naturally void the warranty.  But from my side of the world, it's cheaper to just buy a new one than return this one for replacement/service.

    Hi,
I followed the instructions on this page http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3687&p_created=1151389425&p_sid=bhOrsxkj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MSwxJnBfcHJvZHM9MCZwX2NhdHM9MTcyMSwxNzIzJnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9Mi4xNzIzJnBfc2NmXzM9MSZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PTM2ODc*&p_li=&p_topview=1 and was able to get an IP address. However, when I try to open a browser (google.com, etc), it still says that page cannot be found. I've tried restarting the router and modem, still the same results.

As your ISP is an DSl Provider.
As you have tried that settings on your Router and still you are unable to go online. Connect your Modem to the Computer.... Now on your computer click on the Start - RUN - CMD and click Ok, Now in the Command Prompt window type "ipconfig" and hit enter and check whats the IP address you are getting it. If you are getting the IP address i.e : 192.168.x.x... Now connect your Linksys router to the Modem and to the Computer... Login to the Linksys router setup page, and below the Setup tab .. Let the Internet Connection Type be "Automatic Configuration DHCP" and below you need to change the LAN IP : 192.168.5.1 and click on Save Settings.... Once the settings are saved now you can power cycle your Network.
Now check if you are able to go online.

  • OPatch could not detect Perl

I've run Opatch a million times before (well, maybe not that many but quite a few anyways). Now I'm trying to run it again and I get the following message:
    "OPatch could not detect Perl.
Please set PERL5LIB appropriately and invoke Perl."
I even installed Active Perl, in case there was something missing, to no avail.
    I'm using Windows 2000 Professional.
This is what my variables looks like:
    PERL5LIB=C:\Perl\lib;C:\Oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\perl\5.6.1\lib
    PATH=C:\Oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\perl\5.6.1\bin\MSWin32-x86;C:\Perl\bin\
If I do a perl -v from the command line, I get the following:
This is perl, v5.8.7 built for MSWin32-x86-multi-thread

So perl is responding, but opatch doesn't see it for some reason. What am I missing?
    Thanks!
    Gabriel

It seems like there is some mismatch.
PERL5LIB is set, but what about PERL_BIN? I would suggest you to unset both the variables and try. Ideally, OPatch will search the perl inside Oracle Home and set it accordingly.
You said you have installed Active perl, but PERL5LIB is set to the perl in Oracle Home.
So better that you unset both the variables. Also, check if you have this file C:\Oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\perl\5.6.1\bin\MSWin32-x86\perl.exe

I have the same problem sometimes when inside my house, on some occasions it shows the wrong location (1/4 mile out), when it does this, this is because it cannot get a GPS signal and instead triangulates the cellular network for a location. On other occasions it does not get GPS signal.
Has soon as I go outside the Map works fine and shows my exact location.

  • I tried to restored my iPad1's iOS5 to factory setting. There are error messages. Now my iTunes could not detect my iPad anymore. How can I proceed from here?

    Hi All,
I have problems with iOS5 installed on my iPad1.
After successfully installing the new iOS5, my iPad1 apps are jumbled up with my wife's apps.  Some of my paid apps are missing.
So, i tried to restore to factory default.  Now, my iTunes could not detect my iPad, and my iPad only shows the picture "to connect iPad to iTunes".
I restarted my iMac and checked that all softwares are up to date.
    Please advise.
    Many thanks.

If you restored from a backup, you simply restored the corrupt files again.
You could find the corrupt file through a slow process of eliminating apps and data - removing all content - and then syncing content back again - slowly adding apps back on - until the problem surfaces again - and the you could pin down the last apps or apps that you just added as being the problem apps/files. You may find the corrupt file - and you may not.
Your backups can be deleted by going to iTunes on you computer and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. You will see your backups/backups in that window. Click on the backup and then click on delete backup - if that is what you really want to do.

  • Could not detect Sound Blaster Audio Card on xp sp2 Sys

I have Audigy Platinum and trying to install to a recently re-installed windows xp sp2 system. On my previous install everything was working fine and now I am looking to install the newest drivers and the error comes up [color="#ff3300">"could not detect Sound Blaster Audio Card on system". The strange thing is windows recognizes the card and will install it's drivers, but when I go to install the latest driver update I get the error. In addition, I also tried to run the install from my original disk.
I also?un-installed the devices showing? in the windows device manager, then tried and the same error, I even tried it in safe mode. Any ideas? Thanks and Advance,Mikel

Yes i think the real lesson here is not to buy creative,. i have the same problem with their junky card, so i guess ill just have to take buisness somewhere else. if you all do the same perhaps the threat of them going out of buisness will have them deal with their problems. if not atleast we saved others the headache of learning this lesson.

  • IMac 24" could not detect external monitor (early 2009 model)?

I am trying to add a second monitor to my iMac through the mini Display port with a mini-Display to VGA convert cable, somehow my iMac could not detect the second monitor at all on the preference-display menu. After connected the cable and an external monitor I restarted iMac a few times, the external monitor still could not be detected.
Any suggestions? Any simple method to test if the mini Display port is working properly? My iMac OSX 10.8.5
    Thanks
    David

    Hi,
Just tried another miniDisplay - VGA cable, it works! No need to restart iMac. Immeditely I can bring display windows to the second monitor, say, a DVD movie play to the second monitor while working on the main iMac monitor for other tasks.

  • Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card on your system

    Hi from Barcelona!
I've a Soun Blaster Audigy card (Model: SB0090)
I tried to install the Audigy software and drivers from the original product CD but Setup was unable to find Augigy hardware and halted the installation!
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster card on your system. Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program"
By the way. Manually the sound drivers can be installed working only front speakers of the 5. Creative system
I tried a clean installation of Windows XP and Windows 2000 PRO (reformatted the hard dri've) but Audigy install CD still could not find Audigy hardware.
I've changed the card to a different PCI slot with the same results!!! Damaged?
What is happening? I need a solution!! Many users have this problem to with other Sound Blaster cards and models...

    ADSLNEW wrote:
It seems to be an important BUG of Creative Sound Blaster Audigy cards related with EEPROM!!!
Yes, indeed, that is my theory as well. After much ****hing and on-line research, it seems that this problem has been around since 2002. From Creative Labs point of view, it appears they view this as "pilot error" -- the user has installed the card in a system that is not fully compliant with the latest standards -- specifically Microsofts ACPI (configuration and power management). A wide variety of configurations and/or actions seem to cause the PCI subsystem ID in the Audigy EEPROM to be erroneously overwritten -- including certain older motherboards, certain older PCI cards, and perhaps other actions.
Once the subsystem ID in the EEPROM is overwritten and has garbage information, many or all of the Creative applications cease working and various sound problems can arise. Attempts to reinstall the driver or update to the latest driver consistently fail becuase of the dreaded "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card in your system..." error message.
There appear to be four fixes:
) Get a replacement Audigy card from Creative, but <EM>only</EM> after you perform their prescribed troubleshooting steps to prove that the card is indeed the source of the problem. Apparently, the steps include installing the card in another PC. Apparently, Creative in Europe is more willing to replace your card than Creative in the US. It's up to Creative Labs whether or not they issue you an RMA ("Return Material Authorization").
However, this fix will fail if the root causes of the EEPROM error are not corrected. Apparently, Creative Tech Support isn't always a foolproof source of guidance, so the burden is on you. The root cause MUST be corrected before the new card is installed, or the same problem will happen all over again. Eliminating the root cause may involve replacing your motherboard, replacing other PCI cards, or manual configuration (disabling ACPI).
    2) Reprogramming the EEPROM. This is for advanced PC owners only, because it involves desoldering the EEPROM, programming it, and resoldering (and even lifting some pins to prevent reprogramming). There are instructions on how to do this posted in the German Creative Labs discussion board, by a Russian (!). I have links for those who are interested.
    3) Removing the Creative drivers and software (using Clean Sweep procedures and third party utilities), updating again using Windows XP SP2, then physically moving the card to different PCI slots (multiple times if necessary), until ACPI Bios writes the proper information into the EEPROM. You can then reload the drivers.
Again, the root causes of the problem must be removed or your fix will only be temporary (a day or two). This solution also seems to be very dependent on the specifics of your system (motherboard, PCI cards, etc.).
    4) Some people have had success in by-passing the step in the driver installation process where they check for the Audigy card subsystem ID, using a utility called CTZAPxx on the installation CD. Then then manually install each of the applications they need to use.
    5) Use the open source driver from the kX Project (http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php). This driver (and associated utilities) does not depend on the detailed configuration of the card (i.e. they don't check subsystem ID) and appear to work fine even with cards with corrupted EEPROM.
This driver is aimed primarily at computer music applications, and opens up the on-card signal processing capabilities. The downside is that the Audigy 2 ZS does not have all of it's capabilities supported <EM>yet </EM>(e.g. Dolby Digital decoding, S/PIF passthrough, possibly some game sound features, THX, 24-bit recording, support for Hyperthreading CPUs, etc.). But scanning over the discussion boards, the user community seems to be MUCH happier with the performance and support associated with these drivers than with Creative's.
This is the direction I'm going. I'm not a big gamer and I don't really care about the latest in home theater audio performance. Basic 5. surround sound is all I care about, and I'm much more interested in computer music capabilities.
I have also lost faith in Creative Labs as a vendor to provide the support I want and need going forward. Just imagine if the Creative Labs were running the Space Shuttle program :smileysurprised:.

I think you understand english good enough (som ni alla svenskar brukar g?ra (b?ttre ?n vi finskar i alla fall)) so I just give a link to another thread on this forum.
This issue you're having, is quite common for Creative Audigy carrds (perhaps with OEM models mostly) if you just search this forum.
You can use those instructions to get some drivers installed to your card. Install drivers first and then all the Creative software you need.
You need WinRar being installed into your system to get driver package extracted. You can download it from http://www.winrar.de/edownload/winrar.html

  • "Setup could not detect................

..............any Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS on your system."?Just installed this card in my Dell 8400. Windows detects new hardware, I cancel out, and run the SB installation disc. It says "setup could not detect blah blah blah". I was runninig with onboard sound before installing the card. I disabled onboard sound in the BIOS, but didn't uninstall the SoundMax drivers. I tried the Search function here, and didn't find anything I thought would help. If windows knows it's there why doesn't SB detect it's I've tried reseating, different slots, etc., same problem every time. HELP!

There is a free Windows tool for checking what's installed on the PCI bus. If the sound card wasn't detected then it needs re-inserted or moved to another PCI slot.

  • Setup could not detect any soundblas

I have an audigy 2 SB card. Prior to a month ago, it worked fine. My motherboard blew a gasket, and I replaced it with an ABIT VT7. After installing the audigy 2 card on the new MB, the card seemed to work, although it seemed to have a conflict with my video card (an ati 8500 all-in-wonder) which it didn't have before changing motherboards. In an effort to solve that problem, I uninstalled all my video and audio drivers and started over (among other things), and I decided to install my soundblaster drivers first. I decided to start with the original disk and then automatically update. And here's what happens.
When I boot, the computer detects a multimedia controller. I "Cancel", thinking that I will install that via the CD-ROM. When I go to install the drivers, I get the following message: "Setup could not detect any Soundblaster audio card on your system." Please ensure that your Soundblaster hardware is properly installed," etc.
This seems like a contradiction - it is clear that the computer plug-in-play knows it's there, so why can't I install the drivers? I've done searches for this problem and cannot find a solution anywhere.
By the way, my uninstallation of the old drivers included (i) removal of the card and (ii) uninstallation using CTZAPXX.exe on the CD-ROM.
I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. I guess the question is whether the card has burned up.

  • Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy 2 on your Sys

Here's the deal. I have used my Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum without incedent for a long time with the following box:
    Asus A7V333
    XP 800
    .5 GB DDR 2700
I changed cases, but all of the components remained the same. Everything else went like clockwork, but no Audigy.
So I did a clean and replace of the drivers, however, I had no Audigy CD. I ordered the CD from Creative, but it looks to be a CD for the Audigy 2 XS...will this work for the Audigy 2 Platinum?
So when I go to run the CD, I get the following error:
Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy on your system.
Please ensure that your Sound Blaster Hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program
    Setup will now exit.
I didn't change slots and the IRQ is still the same.
I can provide any additional documentation, i.e. screen shots of device manager, et al. to anyone interested in helping.
Also, if you li've in Chicago, I will get you drunk.
I am so irritated with this thing... I remember it being a pain in the @$$ to install the first time, but not like this.
    Cheers,
    -rob

Okay I ended up fixing this problem myself seeing as a lot of these forum topics just come to a dead end with no real resolution.
    Let's get 'Creative' ...
I removed the reg entry hkey_local_machine/software/creative tech, removed all drivers, programs, and anything that even smelt faintly of creative.
Just to make sure I ran the CTZAPXX.exe on the cd and removed drivers again there also.
Then upon a swift reboot I used CTZAPXX.exe to install the drivers, ran the cd, unchecking the option at the bottom of the 'custom' install list to install windows drivers (as it had already been done)
    Now I'm back in business
Though, all through the ages I've never had a creative soundcard, which hasn't given me trouble at some stage, man I even have shameful memories of my AWE64... Lift your game creative, you've got a great product line, just a pity the shoddy drivers sometimes let them down.
This post may be a little outdated, but it's really intended for all you googlers out there I really hope this fixes your problem!

  • "Adobe Captivate could not detect a recording device ..."

Adobe Captivate shows my Snowflake USB microphone but doesn't record sound from it. When I choose Calibrate I get "Adobe Captivate could not detect a recording device". However, I can record from the microphone in all my other apps (Rosetta Stone, Sony SoundForge, etc.), so I know it's not a hardware issue.
When I go to "Sound" in Vista Pro's "Sound" option on control panel the Microphone is chosen as the default recording device, and I see the bars moving up and down when I talk.
What can I do to get "Captivate" to see the Mic?
A temporary workaround I found is to plug the Microphone into my laptop, then select SPDIF in as the input source. Captivate still gives the "... could not detect a recording device..." error, but the sound records anyway. This is kludgy, however.

    Hi there
You may well just be out of luck. I heard Captivate 2 and Vista Pro used together. I don't believe Captivate was fully compliant with Vista until version 3. So that may explain things.
Unless someone pops in with a better idea, you should be able to record the audio separately, save as WAV or MP3 and import into your slides.
    Cheers... Rick

I have no idea what this means and would be grateful for any help.

    KT,
Thank you so much for your interest and response.  I think that I followed all the suggested 6 steps from the iBA user tip but to no avail.  Do you know anything about this comment by dmingo which is pasted below?
'User dmingo says this about that:
After audio tracks are placed in your book, you must 'Publish' the book from iBA (using the 'File/Publish...' menu) - that means re-entering all metadata from scratch - you can't simply import the .ibooks file into iTP. If you enter another audio clip at some time, you have to do it all again. '
To me it seems to say the video clips need to be delivered separately and one at a time.
I would be grateful for any advice
