  • 2 xboxes - strict nat - airport extreme

    Ok here's my problem.
I've got two xbox 360s connected to two MacBook pros running snow leopard using Internet connection sharing. Playing on xbox live works fine, but when we try to join each others party on xbox live to play on the same team, it doesn't let us connect. When we run an xbox live test it says we have a moderate or strict nat type. The MacBook pros are both connected to our airport extreme on the same network. I've tested them both wired directly into the airport and they work fine on an open NAT type, but this isn't feasible we don't have two HD TVs where the router is.
So my question is, how do I get both xboxes to an open NAT type so we can play online in the same party?
Microsoft support said the airport extreme was not a supported router. I can't afford another one.
    Any suggestions?

Reply on @teressax with a question.
I was triggered because you are talking about a bridged situation, I have also a ps3 and want to stream music and video to that ps3. My current fritzbox modem router does not do the job good enough. So I was thinking on extending my network with an airport extreme. In my network is also a web server.
The modem/router uses the range 192.168.178.1-255
Question: Can I put the AE wired(!) extending into that same range? And connect my network to the AE then to keep the same internal network range?
I am intending to switch the wireless of the modem/router off and use the wireless if the AE also of course.
Is it then still possible to reach the web server from the outside?
I still have to find out how to do the streaming, but I am searching for someone that tells me that it will work.
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Xfintity router/modem with Airport extreme moderate/strict nat?

I switched to comcast xfinity and they gave me a modem with a router built in and we are trying to use the Airport Extreme to get better signal using Bridge Mode in Airport Utility. It all worked fine but then on my PS3 and Xbox 360 it says that I have a moderate/strict nat type any help on how to get a open nat?

Suggest that you double check to make sure that the AirPort Extreme is setup in Bridge Mode.
Open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
    Click the Internet icon
    Settings should look like this:
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
    Update to save any changes
When the AirPort Extreme is in Bridge Mode, DHCP and NAT are turned off.
These services are being provided by the Comcast gateway, so any NAT issues rest with the Comcast gateway. You may need to call Comcast support to ask them about changing the NAT settings on the device.

  • Cisco Linksys EA6500 Smart Wi-Fi Router AC1750 (STRICT NAT TYPE XBOX 360)

    Hi All,
I have 2 kids. Each with his/her own xbox. One Xbox gets an open NAT Type OPEN and the 2nd Xbox gets a STRICT NAT type. I had the same issue with the other Cisco router I had, but thought an upgrade might fix the problem. Plugged up new router last night, same dang issue. Why can't 2 Xbox gaming systems have an open NAT type at once with these routers? Anyone have any suggestions, I am all ears.
Ready to try another router (Netgear, D-Link)
    Thanks

If I am not mistaken, theoritically one router is only applicable with one xbox. The reason for that is because you need to use or open ports on your router and you can only use one port for one ip address. What you can try though is to leave the working xbox the way it was setup and then set DMZ on your router using either the 2nd xbox's ip address or mac address.

  • Linksys EA4500 Strict NAT with Xbox One

    Hey all,
I just got a Xbox One and I use my wireless router (EA4500) for it. I've used it before on my Xbox 360 and I have had an open NAT but now all I have is strict.
I've done some searching on the web such as port fowarding and what not but no such luck. I was wondering if anyone can help me with my current problem?
    Thanks in advance!

Do you know if your router is getting a public IP Address from your ISP? If you are then just enabling UPNP should be enough. Keep in mind that if you have two xbox's then the first one to grab the ports will have open nat.
If you get a private IP Address from your ISP then strict nat is all you will get.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Xbox Live Strict Nat Modern Warfare 3

I have just bought Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 but when I try to play online it keeps saying I have got a Strict NAT.  Been on the phone to Bombay to contact BT Support (F'ing useless).
    I have the ports for the game 80, 53, 3074 (TCP) and 88, 53, 3074 (UDP)
    I have a Home Hub 2.
    Any ideas?
    Solved!

    Hi Austins
Normally when trying to get access to advanced settings having gone to http://192.168.1.254 you will be asked for a password.
This should be on a label on your router (on back or bottom) and should allow you to gain access, if you have changed this perhaps in the past, you can reset it by carrying out a factory reset on your hub.
The router will prompt you to change it to something more personal after your first login.

  • Removing Strict Nat type

I am using the hot spot on my iPhone for playing my playstation 3 online. How can I remove the strict nat type?

To my knowledge, there really are not any settings for you to do on the Personal Hotspot. I hope you have a large data allotment to be playing Playstation with cellular data!

  • Xbox One Strict NAT won't switch to Open

    Linksys Model: Linksys EA6350-4A
I have set up a DMZ with the correct settings, reset both my cable, linksys, and xbox, yet it still shows up as strict. When I tried port forwarding, my wiFi goes to ****, and my xbox still stays on strict. I would appreciate some help with this as I have already reset my router (which I just bought two days ago) to factory settings about 4 different times already.
EDIT: This is also on a WIRED connection to the Xbox.

Your ISP modem has NAT so your in a double NAT condition which isn't recommended:http://na.smc.com/products/residential/voice/smcd3gnv/ If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ. Be sure to disable all other filters and firewalls on the ISP modem. Configure the 6350 router for Port Range Triggering :https://community.linksys.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/Open-NAT-problems-with-Xbox-One/td-p/944929/page/2 Setup a reserved IP address for the xbox at 192.168.1.199 on the router then reboot the router. Performe a Network Setting Factorty reset on the xbox. Turn Off the xbox then back on then chk NAT status. You should get OPEN, however if the ISP modem is doing any processing then you could see moderate...

  • Sharing internet connection with xbox-Strict NAT

Im currently sharing my internet connection from my macbook to my xbox 360 via ethernet but for some reason my NAT is set to strict.
I have set up port forwarding on my router, but apparently have to set it up on the macbook too?
can anyone help me out with this?

I got a macbook for college and I had the same problem with connecting my Wii to the macbook's connection. But lo and behold, the internet's a wonderful place! I tried this out (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070514152251515) and it worked! I'm not sure about the powerbook bit though, sorry. Hope it works for you too.

  • Modern Warfare 2 - Strict Nat

Ok, not a router or network brainiac. With that said, I am using a PC to play the game, I have a cable modem as well as running a VPN (for work). I have the Linksys WRT310N. My settings are as follows:
    Dynamic IP
    Upnp enabled
    Nat enabled
I was playing all the MP games, no problem. Then within the last week the availability of games has been limited to deathmatch. When I go into the lobby, as of a few days ago, my nat was open. Now it sez strict. Either way, I have limited access. I am not doing any port forwarding. Not sure I can use a static IP with my VPN.
Any feedback is welcome. Maybe it is just a crappy game.

Try to open ports on the router and check...Try this link.

  • WRT54G v2 with Strict NAT when connected via ethernet to Xbox 360

Hello, I apologize if this is in the wrong board as the router, although it is a wireless model, is connected to the Xbox 360 via ethernet cable, so I was a bit torn on where to place it. Router Model, Firmware version: WRT54G v2, v4.21.1 The problem and details are as follows: The Xbox 360 is running on the default settings. Literally, I plugged it into the router via ethernet and it automatically grabbed an IP (192.168.1.101) and the right information to connect to Xbox Live. The router is still running the default range of 50 IPs, so 100 to 149; the 360 was just the second thing to connect. Another computer is connected to the router via ethernet and a laptop is connected wirelessly, if this might affect the case at all. When using the Network Test feature of the Xbox 360, everything is operating perfectly except the NAT is giving me a Strict reading. Some of my games require an Open NAT for me to be able to access some features such as hosting a co-op match. Simply put, what do I need to do inside the router's settings that would give me an Open NAT on the Xbox 360?

well try reducing the MTU values to 1365 on the router, also try triggering 88, 3074 ports on the router...

  • Help: Strict NAT 360 Xbox WRT54Gv2 Wired

Need help opening the NAT settings on the router. I have 2 xboxs wired to the router. I am able to get an open NAT on either 1 of the 2 xboxs, but never both at the same time. Seems like the port forwarding only works on the first static IP entered on the router setup. The DMZ settings sometimes provide for a moderate NAT, but never lasts. Have read many posts and tried several settings.

How you have configured the settings on your Router and on XBOX? Have you assigned Static IP to your XBOX or your XBOX getting IP address from the Routers DHCP ?
If you have already assigned Static IP to your both the XBOX and already Opened Ports and still its not working, then you can try to Upgrade the firmware of your Router.
Once you upgrade the firmware on your Router, then you need to reset your router and re-configure all the settings on it from scratch.

  • Open NAT for xbox360

I've done almost everything I've read onthis forums but nothing seems to be working...
    I have Wireless-N Broadband RouterWRT160N. UPnP disabled.
    Port range forwarding:
    TCP 80
    UDP 88
    BOTH 3074
ALL FOR 192.168.1.12, assigned to the xbox
    Port range triggering:
    trigered range 53 to 3074
    forwarded range 53 to 3074
Both are enabled, but I have tried every combination of enable/disable and still my NAT is set to moderate...
    Help anyone? Thanks...

As you have tried all the settings on your Router and still the NAT is Moderate on your Router, I think in this case you need to upgrade the firmware of your Router.
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop..
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Wrt160nv2 xbox strict NAT port forwarding/port triggering

I am having trouble stabalizing my NAT on 2 Xboxes. They are both connected to the wrt160nv2 with ethernet cables and I don't know whether I need to do port forwarding or port triggering. Right now, I am using port range triggering, triggered range 53 to 3074 and forwarded range 53 to 3074, and under Setup, MTU size is 1452. I got that off of another post on here but I think they were trying to set it up for an ethernet cable and wireless. I just need to know what to do since both Xboxes are using ethernet cables so both Xboxes can have open NATs.

No need to forward/trigger any ports on the router . Sometimes 2 gaming consoles do not work on a router.
You can try to upgrade the firmware on the router , reset it and reconfigure .

  • NAT Type 2 but still strict in MW3 - Help please!!

So here's my dilemma. I've been searching for 2 days now how to get an open NAT type in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
I've got a BT HomeHub 2. Simply connecting wirelessly to the network grants me a NAT Type 2, which I understand is supposed to be moderate, and therefore open to a certain extent ... But in-game is says that I have a Strict NAT type and won't let me connect to friends' parties.
I've forwarded all sorts of ports as instructed to do so by various online blogs, that didn't work, neither did portforwarding's website.
I've tried using a static ip and enabling DMZ on the hub, but that wouldn't even allow my PS3 to connect to the router
I've even tried using PPPoE, entering some random's email and password into the boxes as I saw on youtube.
BT's solution is a load of rubbish ... "Try resetting the modem and select static ip in the HH settings".
Has anyone else come across this problem of NAT type 2 being strict on MW3, and have you managed to overcome it??
I'm not a total gimp when it comes to fiddling with computer settings but I can't work this one out.
    Thanks

    Exact same problem here,
Was the above successful and has it remained open?
I was able to quick fix my Nat type by simply loading the multiplayer on cod4 which must open up the required ports but even that is more complicated with the game not loading now at all unless you disable your router (another kettle of fish).
The strict Nat doesn't seem to be as bad lag wise so that's something the developers have fixed with the last MW3 update, however the lack of ability to connect to your friends with a million dollar multiplayer such as MW3 is quite frankly unacceptable and completely defeats the object of such games.
I've tried forwarding ports and all the other methods to no avail, I've yet to try MW2 too see if that will quick fix the problem.
But please let us know if your forwarded ports are still working with an open nat, and if you can join / hear friends.
    Thanks in advance,
Otherwise I'm going to try some other routers as I have plenty of friends with different set ups playing fine with open Nat, that being said there are just as many with different providers and routers suffering the same dilemma, this is certainly not just a home hub issue although if I get another router to work I will certainly enjoy throwing the hh out the window...
