WRT610N and PS3 - Slow audio and photo streaming, while video is fine

Hi, I just hooked up my USB portable hard drive to this Linksys router and was able to access the picture/audio/video on my PS3, it's very cool
However I quickly noticed is has couple of problems:
The access to JPG files is painfully slow, on average it would take about 20 to 30 seconds for the next photo to show up (the average size for a photo is about 2~3 MB).
The similar story would happen on MP3.
However the streaming of video is totally a different story, it's lighting fast! It would take about 2 to 5 seconds for the video to start to play, once it's started, there is no lag/interruption. The video I watched is a 600 x 400 .avi file at the size of 84MB, it plays very fluidly.
I found it's hard to believe that HD video actually runs much better than photo and MP3, it just doesn't make sense to me.
I also rebooted router/PS3 mutiple times, which didn't help at all.
Can anyone offer some hints on what could be wrong?

What is the Model no of the USB HDD...?
Have you checked with different computer..?
Try to use the different computer and check if you are facing the same problem.

It sounds like some of your photos are over 30 days old.

I see different photos in My Photo Stream on each of my devices.
Your device will keep up to 1000 photos, even if they are older than 30 days. Photos older than 30 days are removed from the iCloud server, so all devices may not have the same photos, depending on when you enabled My Photo Stream.
You may want to sync the older photos through iTunes to get them on your new iPad mini.

Hi. When icloud first came out it worked well on all of my mac devices (macbook pro, ipad, iphones). However now it no longer works on my computer. When I go to system preferences it is unchecked and when I check to enable it, it tells me it can't. I also go to iCloud settings and when I check the photo stream box a few minutes later it is unchecked (which I never do). Please help.

Mmmm, I was hoping there might be a few more clues.
With little confidence you might try the following.
Reset photostream at iCloud.com.
Log out/in of iCloud on your Mac.
Trash your system preferences plist.

I have read plenty of the posts on the subject and it seems that deleting the "3ivx" fixed the problem. I looked at the detaied reports and see where it says "
Library/Application Support/3ivx" etc..
On my report it says "/Library/Application Support/iLifeMediaBrowser/*/iLMBiPhoto8Plugin". Does this help with an answer?

I am also having this crashing problem. I am running lion on a 2010 mac mini. My iPhoto library is kept on an external drive. I just upgraded to iPhoto 11 and everytime I try to enable photo stream the app crashes. I have tried all the above suggestions, including re-installing iphoto from the Mac App store. Is this iPhoto on your Mac? Are you referring to the photos that were in your iPhoto LIbrary prior to the upgrade to iPhoto 11? If so then apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If that's not what you're referring to then you should describe what is happening in more detail. Remember we can't see your Mac or your iPhone so need detailed and accurate descriptions of what you're experiencing.
Also we need infomartion like do you have an iCloud account and are you logged into it on all of your devices, iPhoto and Mac? do you have Photo Stream enabled on both.

The best way is to not share Apple IDs but also make sure under Settings & Messages on both devices that only one phone number is checked.

I have the same issue when I try to export it through Adobe Media Encoder. I even tried to go through using After Effects and export through Adobe Media Encoder with the same results. I'm wondering if I might be better off uninstalling then reinstalling all my adobe programs.

This photo is a screen shot from page 95 of the manual for iOS 8.1. I highlighted the part that says My Photo Stream uploads video. This seems conflicting. Am I missing something?

New hard drive and have a question about photo stream.

My hard drive recently crashed. I have a new hard drive and am trying to organize my iphoto again. There are 1,000 photos on my iphone (photo stream) how do I get these onto my mac? My mac only has the last 30 days. Do I have to save each individual photos to the camera roll?

Places and faces not syncing with photo stream

Hello,
I put some of my pictures from my Mac Pro's iPhoto library into Photo Stream with the intention of grabbing them into my MacBook Pro's iPhoto library.
They download and the events are generated but the Faces and Places information did not come along :-(
I'm wondering if this is by design (I sincerely hope not!) or a bug...
Any thoughts?

when you take a photo on one device, it automatically appears on all your other devices. No syncing. No sending. Your photos are just there. Everywhere you want them.
No mention of Faces and Places there.
Or
it automatically imports every picture from your Photo Stream into your photo library so you can edit, delete, and share the ones you want.
Again, no mention of Faces and Places here, or anywhere on that page.
It's not a bug. It's just not a feature.

Merging slowed audio and video.

So I am currently editing a music video that was shot at 60fps. Each clip needs to be slowed 50 percent. We goofed on set and our slating was all out of wack, so now we need to go through and sync each slowed down clip to normal speed audio. So my question is, is there a way to make a subclip from the sequence that will retain the speed/duration settings we have set. Or are we going to have to slow it down, sync it, set the video back to regular speed. Merge clips and then slow it down every time we bring it back into the timeline?

Not really.
I'm assuming you sped up the playback on set, so the performers lip sync would match to the real song when the video was slowed down? If so, why was there a slate? That's used for dual system sound when you will be using the sound recorded on set, which you won't be doing in this case. So...just slow down the clips, remove the audio and manually sync to the real song.

Slow uploads to Photo Stream via iPhoto

Photos I upload to Photo stream from my Mac (from a DSLR camera) always upload very slowly. They're big images, 2-4 meg, so I would expect them to be slower than from my iPhone, but literally they can take 2-3 minutes each. Anybody know if that's normal? If so, why? If not, any suggestions? Thanks.

Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream. Then add photos to the PS again.
