WRT610N Feature Request - Bandwidth Monitor

I was wondering if I could put in a request to have the WRT610N (and other routers) have a feature that allows you to see the total amount of bandwidth you've used on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis?
There is 3rd party firmware (DD-WRT, Tomato, etc) that let's you do that, but I've found them to cause connection issues.
If there's not enough room to store the information in the router, maybe allow it to be stored on an attached USB drive/stick.
Thanks!

Just tried. I talked to their Live support and was told that they don't take requests.
Bah.

• Feature Request: External Monitor!

Please make Front Row work on external monitors without having to change the primary monitor to the external. This is a major pain, and it must be common for lots of people to use their large displays as a secondary monitor, so I'm frankly baffled at the oversight.
Having to either switch to mirroring or switching primary monitors each time you want to use Front Row is a silly lack of convenience.
This must be a simple upgrade...and a needed one.
Thanks.

You may want to post this where someone from Apple will actually read it.

Good idea though, I'm going to request the same thing.

• Feature request: option to deactivate builtin screen when monitor connected

This is a feature request for laptops, or rather for the Air specifically. To see why it might be a good thing, see this thread:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=449778
I'd like a checkbox in the display preferences to deactivate the internal monitor when an external monitor is plugged in. This would save load on the Air's GPU and reduce heat while using an external monitor.
Users of the regular Macbook might want this as well.

Apple doesn't monitor the forum for feature requests and the like. It's just for user-to-user help.
Also note that this feature already exists: all Mac laptops sold in the past few years, including the MacBook Air, can be run with only an external monitor. It's called closed-lid mode.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86286
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307315
If you then want to open the lid to increase cooling, you can. Once the external display is attached, the internal display does not come on automatically when you open it.

• Feature request: Monitor, manage IE - CPU usage

I was wondering if this is the right place to make a feature request. As it happens when surfing with IE, having many tabs open, pretty quickly CPU usage can reach 100% even on multi core system. Presumably some website manage to run out-of-control scripts
in the background.
The real problem is now that I cannot tell which tabs produces which CPU load. All that task manager shows is the IE process with the tabs and the overall CPU usage for the process.
Regarding monitoring it would help to identify the tabs (website) which cause the heavy load. This could be added to task manager.
Further, to manage the tabs it should be possible to either start each tab in its own process
or perhaps better, have the ability to put unused tabs in 'hibernation' causing all scripts to pause there.

Hi,
you can post 'feature' requests to the IETeam at
http://connect.microsoft.com/ie
Task Manager in current windows versions lists all IE Tab processes.... Sort the process list by cpu usage to identify hungry tabs.
Typically high cpu usage is caused by
Web browser addons, incorrect browser settings (use gpu instead of hardware rendering) and flash or poorly designed websites or missing updates to your windows or third-party software. You may like to try running your browser in noAddons mode to see if that
makes a difference in cpu usage.... and also ensuring that you have enabled Windows Updates and that your computer has the latest updates from MS, Adobe etc.
MS has no control over what addons a user has or installs on their machines.
Post consumer questions about IE or windows to
http://answers.microsoft.com (Help>Online Support menu). Include with your questions the full links to any websites that you are having issues with....
Always... the first step in troubleshooting web browser issues is to test in no addons mode.

• Feature request: Support for more than 2 monitors

I currently use an external monitor for my critical editing/evaluation as my iMac display doesn't reproduce reds very well. I understand newer iMacs can support 2 external displays, obviously desktop machines can support as many displays as there are open slots for video cards.
While editing a photo shot in portrait on a monitor set for landscape is not a problem, it would <really> be cool to have two external color-accurate monitors for developing/loupe views, one oriented in portrait, one in landscape, with the third (iMac in this case) showing the develop controls. Even if the two external monitors showed the same image, one would always be fullscreen in the correct orientation.
MacOS and Windows both give the user control over all the displays connected to a given system, so driving a portrait and a landscape monitor simultaneously shouldn't be a problem from an OS/hardware standpoint.
Is this something that can be rolled into LR4?
Respectfully,
Andre

I use 3 or 4 monitors too, so that's one I'd like to see too. We wouldn't want the request to get lost in beta land, so might I suggest adding the request to the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family where it can easily be tracked? If you post the link to your request here, others can also vote on your request.

• Feature Request: Standard Keyboard Navigation in Media Browser and Project Panel

It's been a while since I've had time to submit a feature request. I've wanted to see this one for a while. If you agree, please submit your own feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish/
System Navigational Keyboard Shortcuts in Media Browser and Project Panel
Windows (and I'm sure Mac) has a standard set of keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts for keyboard and mouse. I'm so used to using them in daily browsing (both in Windows Explorer and in any web browser) that missing them in the PPr Media Browser, or getting a different result in the Project Panel, is still very jarring and slows my workflow (even after having used Premiere Pro [again] since version CS4).
I propose that the Media Browser and Project Panel should honor the OS defaults for keyboard and mouse folder/file navigation. A few of the standard (Windows) keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts are listed below (listed in order of most helpful to my own work):
Moust Back Button = "BACK"
ALT + LEFT ARROW = "BACK"
UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT = steps through the various folders within the view.
UP, DOWN walks through the directory tree while RIGHT expands the currently selected folder and LEFT contracts that directory (twirl down, etc).
ENTER opens a folder.
ALT + UP = "Folder Above"
ALT + RIGHT ARROW = "FORWARD"
F2 Renames a folder
ENTER "takes" that name to the clip. (current functionality used ENTER to rename a file/folder).
ESC cancels the renaming operation.
Pressing Enter on any piece of Media or Title, etc should take an "expected" action acording to it's context. (i.e. ENTER on a video clip would load it inot the Source Monitor. ENTER on a Title would open it in the Title Editor. ENTER on a folder would take us into that folder).
These functions exist in both Windows Explorer as well as most modern Web browsers. When browsing files and Project folders, it's what I've come to expect. It's muscle memory, if not intuitive. I realize that many of these keyboard commands are already in use in other windows/panels of the application, therefore, these commands should be Panel-specific (i.e. ALT+LEFT works differently in the Media Browser and Project Panel than it does on the Timeline/Sequence). And as always, when making such changes (i.e. changing the behavior of ENTER to F2), this set of keys should be highly configurable based on preference:
Preference:
checkbox: Use OS-specific navigational keyboard and mouse commands in Media Browser and Project Panel
checkbox: Use the (very few) "classic" Adobe keyboard commands in the Media Browser and Project Panel
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Media Browser is clicking the BACK button on my mouse—only to realize, yet again, it doesn't work that way in PPr.
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Project Panel is pressing F2 to rename a folder/bin. Of course that doesn't work. And when I've renamed it, I press ENTER to save the name, but that only moves me to the next folder ready to rename it, too. I also find, out of habit, I try to navigate the bins using the arrow keys and then open the bin/folder using ENTER. Instead, my bin is asking for a new name and I hit ESC to avoid renaming it—now THERE's a shortcut that works the way it should.
I realize this feature may be controversial to some, since it's not the way we're used to doing things in PPr. However, I'm sure there are just as many out there, like me, who are confounded as to why PPr has never worked with the "conventional" navigation shortcuts found throughout the rest of the operating system, be it Windows or Mac.
If you agree with this feature request, please submit your own feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish/

Nice ideas Jeff.

• Feature Request: Modify Audio Channels from the Timeline in Premiere CC.1

Why have we never been able to modify audio channels once a clip is added to a sequence? I'm guessing there's a good reason Adobe has never had this feature. The lack of this feature is explicitly mentioned a few times in the audio section of the Premiere Pro CC manual, as if it's a benefit NOT to have it. But the benefit is entirely lost on me.
In my workflow, I synchronize my double-system video and audio before anything else. I do this in PluralEyes (and unfortunately I'll have to keep doing it this way, until PPr's sync on sound feature gets fixed—for me it's never worked).
Once PluralEyes has synched hours of footage and audio and placed it on a PLURALEYES GENERATED sequence, I import that sequence into Premiere. Note: Since I haven't gone through the step of creating a blank New Sequence, I don't get the opportunity to setup my audio channels the way I'd like in my sequence (i.e. Stereo recordings should occupy ONE track, not two. Typically these tracks come from a camcorder and are used for reference sound, or ambient noise at best, so I don't need them taking up precious real estate in my sequence).
Since PluralEyes doesn't merge my clips for me (or rather I don't want it to since I'm usually doing multi-cam sequences where I want to keep all 14, or so, tracks of audio), I have to go through the clips one by one and do a Merge Clip action once I've adjusted any minor sync issues, or determined which tracks I actually want to keep. But, and here's the key, at this stage I'm not yet 100% certain whether I'll use the nat sound or the wireless mic sound (separate audio recorder, etc). Furthermore, I don't really want to think about that at this point. After I've spent a few mind-numbing hours just ingesting files, sync and merges, I want to jump into the edit as soon as possible, before I lose all will to finish this edit. If I modify my audio channels right now, I'll lose the ability to make some creative decisions later on.
I'd like to start whacking out an assembly edit. And then after I have a rough program, I can start looking at which audio tracks (nat or double-system) I like better in each circumstance. This is where I become stumped that at this stage, I'm locked into whatever audio channels I've setup (or not) in the earliest stage of the edit, back before any media was actually on the timeline! It's at this stage, and usually only at this stage that I want to start Modifying Channels—FROM THE TIMELINE!
Does anyone else feel the same? If not, what is your workflow?
Feature Summary: Right-click on any clip, (master clip, sub-clip, merged, nested or otherwise) in the timeline and choose Modify > Audio Channels.
I've submitted a feature request, with a link back to this discussion, so please pipe in—especially if you want this feature.

Maybe its your specific workflow, asset mangement and use of a 3rd party application that runs you into an issue.
Take Pluraleyes out of the equation, I would imagine my workflow is the same as most everyone else. Find footage in the Media Browser. Import it. Create a Sequence and start editing. Use the Source Monitor to set Ins and Outs and then Insert the clip on the timeline.
At this point, if the audio needs to be modified, it cannot be done on the Timeline. The workaround, of course, is to Find Clip in Project; Modify Audio in the Project panel; then do a Matchframe to replace the audio clip. This works, but requires many steps per clip. Also, Matchframe in Premiere Pro CC is not reliable.
Introducing a new Modify Audio (from Timeline) feature as seen in the fantasy screenshot above would solve it.
I dont use Pluraleyse ...which I understand to be a synching aid...so I dont know the workflow it imposes on one .
Returning to Pluraleyes workflow, this issue is compounded by the need to Modify almost ALL audio. Every stereo track is separated and placed on two MONO tracks taking up precious real estate. This is not something Pluraleyes imposes. It is due to the way Premiere imports XML timelines. This would apply to sequences imported from Final Cut as well.
In this case it would be ideal to select both the LEFT and RIGHT mono tracks and choose "Modify > Audio Channels > Merge L/R Mono to a Single Stereo track." Ideal? No. I guess Ideal would be if Premiere would interpret XML files properly in the first place.
What actually is the issue with Premieres synch and merge workflow in your case?
Audio Sync in Premiere Pro doesn't work. Period.

File requests here:
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

If you want to do this correctly you need to file a request for each feature.
Ripple Sequence and Chapter Markers is already implemented. Sequence markers are the same as chapter markers, yes? (Ripple Sequence Markers, select Marker > Ripple Sequence Markers.)
Ability to print the Keyboard Shortcuts, or save all of them as a text file. also available. (hold ctrl+shift while opening. A button with clipboard appears)
Keyboard shortcuts to scale image zoom in Source and Program tabs. available

Make Export and Title windows return to the previously adjusted size and placement. They do.
Some feature you posted are great. How about a eyedropper tool for the Color Matte?
I find the Magnet for Snap quite visible. There is also this feature in the Pref to make the playhead snap.

• Feature request - Disable packet data

I would like to make a feature request for the otherwise awesome phone Nokia Asha 302. You have done a great job there, the phone is very nice and popular.
Can you please make an additional setting, so that we can DISABLE packet data completely? Currently, only two options are available - 'when needed' and 'always on'.
I see a lot of people are using different bizzare techniques to overcome a basic problem - there is no setting to disable packet data. Why there isn't, is beyond me, and as far as I can tell - beyond a lot of people. It is most intuitive to make it 'yes' and 'no' in the first place, but engineers made it 'yes' and 'yes, please' instead, which does not make any sense. It is a source of MAJOR frustration and inconveniences - applications fire up the internet and keep it always on, leading to battery drain and unwanted bandwidth charges.
So, can you please implement 3 states in Settings - Connectivity - Packet data:
- always on
- when needed
- disabled
I would go even further and ask to make a shortcut (like WiFi and Bluetooth) and a dedicated hardware key, since I think it is a base setting that needs to be easily accessible.
Please do it as soon as possible, since it is a major shortcomming, and make a release immediately. My phone is Asha 302, but I think all S40 users are complaining of the same.
Thank you very much and hope you will consider it.
If other users also think it is important, please star this message.

Yes, this is a feature which is definitely required.
It will reduce power consumption by a lot, and also save us valuable bandwidth.
Please consider implementing it. If there is a new release, please let us know.

• Feature Request: Corner Window snapping.

Is this the correct forum for feature requests?
I would like to request a feature that would be extremely useful for multitasking. When you drag a window to the corner of your monitor or the upper corner of the task bar the window resizes to half the screen
width and height, and snaps to the corner.
To calculate these points you could do this:
Notes:
TL, TR, BL, BR represent the points of top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right respectively.
var X-1=Monitor Length (in px)
var Y-1=Monitor Height (in px)
var T=Task bar Height (in px)
var B=Task bar Length (in px)
var x=point of x coordinate (from top left)
var y=point of y coordinate (from top left)
When task bar is on bottom:
TL: x=0, y=0
TR: x=X, y=0
BL: x=0, y=Y-T
BR: x=X, y=Y-T
When task bar is on top:
TL: x=0, y=T
TR: x=X, y=T
BL: x=0, y=Y
BR: x=X, y=Y

..."Using multiple applications - Maximized so as to concentrate on what I am doing - then using Exposé to quickly switch between them would be ideal. "...
If you are primarily concerned with applications and not windows, why don't you just use "Spaces"? It's available now, and allows you to assign an application to a particular space.
These days, the behaviour of the "zoom" button appears entirely up to the developer so suggestions might be better directed toward the ones who make the "design applications" you primarily use.
But back in good old days when Macs actually were designed to be easy to use (and not just pretty to look at), there seemed to have been a convention - not strictly adhered to in all quarters but a convention nonetheless - to use the "zoom" button to fit content, but "Option" + "zoom" to "maximize". If Apple would only go back to that idea, I suspect most people would find that satisfactory...

• Feature Request: Lights Out Mode / tagging display.

Problem: "Lights out" mode hides tags - need to enable option to allow tags to be seen during lights out mode.
I love editing down photos to selects in lightroom, I love using the (L) LightsOut Mode to set the screen(s) to black.
however, when I do so, it hides tagging data as well. I would like an option (keyboard shortcut) to toggle the display of stars/flags/colors on and off.
Possible solutions:
Flags and stars are simple graphics that could appear over the image or beside/under it in tiny non distracting ways. colours could be the same or perhaps have the outer border turn to the selected colour.
ADDITIONALLY: I would love to see an option to "LIGHTS OUT" the second monitor indipendantly of the main. (this could be done in the second monitor drop down menu)

Some headphones sound just too **** loud when plugged in the headphone amp so line out is only option. However, while that works just fine for normal stereo music, it is not optimal solution for games because the HRTF is way less accurate.
So, how about adding "Headphone mode" tick box for line out (or "Use line out plug instead" tick box in headphone mode)? It would solve various issues and fix one of the most annoying problem with Z/Zx/ZxR cards right now. It should be rather simple (i.e. same settings as headphone out but different output plug) thing yet would make massive difference in usability.
Hi Anarion,
I have relayed your product feature request to the designated department.
Will keep you informed for any updates on this thread, fingers crossed!

• Feature Request: Point-Markers to Overlay Range-Markers (& compound markers-track)

Problem:
In Premiere CS6, both Prelude and Premiere, range markers (those with duration greater than zero) obscure any point markers (those with duration=0, the default). This is demonstrated at http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cs6/improved-markers-and-importing-from-prelu de/ , at around 04:42. This obscuration discourages use of range-markers.
Solution (feature-request):
Please could you reverse that situation, so that point markers instead overlay range markers. In fact, more generally, shorter-duration markers should overlay longer-duration markers. The idea is that the longer-duration markers would serve as useful background to the shorter-duration ones, and also of course this would reduce loss of information display.
How it would be useful in practice:
For example, when editing a presentation, it is useful to initially mark ranges covering periods such as Establishing, Main Talk, Question&Answer Session, Finale & Applause. Then on top of that to add shorter-duration markers for particular elements to be used or avoided. Then on top of that, add markers for point-events such as "camera jolt".
Better still (feature-request):
Ideally, markers should be considered as a special compound kind of track, a metadata track (after all, markers do get stored as metadata). This (compound) track could then be viewed either in collapsed mode (where it would look like a single track, hopefully with the overlay priorities as described bove) or in expanded mode (revealing some number of separate lanes, defined by user, of markers). Such lanes could be given meaning by the user e.g. Info, Vital-use, Nice-use-if-possible, Avoid, Ancillary (Clapperboard, Grey-Card, Color Charts etc.). Colors could be defined for each lane, to make them intuitive to people, at a glance.
Many thanks,
David

Until things change, you might give subclips a go. They're returned to proper functioning in CC7 where you see only the subclip range in the Source Monitor, but are free to extend or add transitions in the sequence.

• ITunes Feature Request: Shared Library Enhancements

I didn't see a section of the forum specific to feature requests so I'll just post here and see what kind of feedback pops up.
I use iTunes to manage the music library for my home network, then share the library to each system on the network. The only gripe I have is that I can not make my local systems load the artwork from music in the shared library. I am also a bit dissapointed that the "jukebox" view doesn't work for shared libraries, and that you can't make a playlist containing songs on a shared library.
I'm assuming these features were left out to conserve network bandwidth, which makes sense, however I think it should be an optional feature that that can be enabled for people with the hardware to support it. If you're running a gigabit home network then there is certainly enough bandwidth to spare to support this.
I'm a windows user and will always be, however I'm very impressed with iTunes and how efficiently it operates and handles tagging and other features. I just think that the shared library capabilities should be expanded. It'd even be nice if you could grant permission to a specific computer name or IP range giving systems permission to edit the library. Remote Desktop/VNC solutions work well for this, but it'd be nice to have an internal feature to support it.

• Opinions On Several Feature Requests

Hello,
For starters this is not a problem I can't solve in Premiere but more so a request of your opinions on Feature Requests that I've recently submitted. Just so you know, I'm new to the Adobe forums but I'm not so new to Premiere Pro. I've used Premiere since 1.5 and have been fortunate to use every version up to CS5. We, at the shop, always talk about how Premiere could be a bit better and so after 6 years of talking I've finally submitted a few Feature Requests for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and CS5.5. Below are the requests submitted one by one:
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Feature Request: Premiere Pro CS5, CS5.5
*******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature:
Source Panel Keyboard Zoom
How would you like the feature to work?
In the Keyboard Customization menu, add keyboard zoom options for the Source Panel. Also have an option for vertical and horizontal zoom for audio.
Why is this feature important to you?
Often times I use the Source monitor before inserting clips of video or audio into the timeline. The current method of pinpointing an area in the Source monitor is by using the horizontal bar, which can be a little jarring. I always use the shortcut key (-) to zoom out and (=) to zoom in when using the timeline and program monitor. This may seem like a minor feature request but is key component to speed up my work flow and make my production time more efficient.
*******Enhancement / FMR*********

Set Clip Markers Button
How would you like the feature to work?
In the timeline panel, beside the Set Display Style and Show Key Frames buttons, a Set Clip Markers button can be added to both the Video and Audio tracks. Just as the other buttons have dropdown menus, the Set Clip Marker would have its dropdown menu for set other numbered, next available or unnumbered. If the dropdown menu was set to next available number, each time the button was pressed the clip marker would adjust just as it does from the Marker tab at the top of the screen.

Multi-Camera Audio Fix
How would you like the feature to work?
I think this is more of a Bug Report but I'm submitting this as a Feature Request. When I edit in Multi-camera mode and I have a nested video sequence with the audio tracks beneath the nested video the first audio track gets extracted whenever I make multi-camera cuts. A work around for this is to lock the first audio track. At times I do forget to lock the audio and have to go back and extend the audio to get it back on its track.
Why is this feature important to you?
This fix is important because it makes the multi-camera feature more reliable and it saves time in the editing process.
Why is this feature important to you?
Because most of our jobs require multiple cameras and multiple audio sources, both on camera and standalone, using the Marker tab at the top of the screen is very time consuming when syncing each clip. I know many Premiere Pro users would benefit from this feature especially with the rise of the HDSLR work flows and the need to sync audio from external devices such as the Zoom H4N.

Horizontal Audio Master Meter
How would you like the feature to work?
Customize the Audio Master Meter so that it can dock horizontally, similarly to how Adobe Soundbooth has its audio meter above.
Why is this feature important to you?
When we deploy to other countries, we have to use our laptops for editing. Because of the limited resolution on our laptops I think it would be better to have the audio meter at the top of the screen to maximize the amount of work space on laptops.

Multi-Camera Monitor sync with Timeline
How would you like the feature to work?
Put simply, have the Multi-Camera Monitor sync real time with the Timeline Panel. Right now, whenever you use the Multi-camera Monitor it operates independently from the Timeline Panel. It should operate just as the Program monitor does with the Timeline.
Why is this feature important to you?
When I scrub through the footage in the Multi-Camera monitor I don't get a feel for the entire sequence and my current location when editing. When I use the Program monitor along with the Timeline Panel I have a reference of where I am in real time and it’s easier to manage cuts when I edit in the Timeline Panel.
If you have any feature requests for Premiere Pro, agree or disagree with the requests posted here I'd like to hear your opinions. Please state your Brief Title, The Feature, and Why you agree/disagree with the feature requests posted.
