WRT610N FIRMWARE UPDATEING V1 to V2 FIX HOWTO NO MORE FAIL TO UPDATE

I SPENT WAY TO MUCH TIME FIGHTING WITH MY ROUTER AND I FINALLY GOT THROUGH TO THE ONE PERSON THAT SPOKE ENGLISH AT CISCO SUPPORT. IT WAS A SIMPLE FIX AND HERE IT IS (but not before they told me that my router which was less then a year old was broken and I would have to buy a new one.) I can't believe no one else has posted this.
In actuality it is a browser problem that causes the FAILED TO UPDATE screen usually at 20 - 30% and sometimes goes to 98% and never completes.
Do this to get it to go.
1) Download the latest firmware and save it somewhere on your computer (I suggest desktop)
1b) if you have the storage unit make sure you disconnect the USB drive before you do these following steps.
2) go to the downloads area and select support for the  WRK54G on the US SITE (yes I know that is the wrong router).
3) goto downloads and select V1
4) download the utility (http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/firmware/1224638358976/WRK54G_V1.55.02_UpgradeUtility_fw.exe)
5) run the program, enter  the IP of your router and  select the firmware
6) let it run and update the bios - this should avoid any of the stupid browser error outs and you should be able to go on your merry way.
I can't believe that I'm the only person that went through this problem. Having the irritating AWARD WINNING crap pumped in your ear while you wait for the almost useless help support just adds insult to industry. Who the hell would give them an award for hardly speaking english?

  • WRT610N firmware update

I just updated my WRT610N to the B18 firmware.  Before, my computer showed me connected to two separate networks (each running 130 mbps), which is what I roughly expected since this router is supposed to run both bands simultaneously.
After the firmware update, I seem to have an either/or situation instead, where I can connect to my media network (now running 270 mbps) or the standard network (at 130 mbps, but that's just because of my wireless adaptor restrictions at 2.4 ghz).
Does anyone know why this changed, should this have changed, etc?  It just seemed odd.

I'm still only getting one channel at a time.  For all I know this might be normal, though I was under the impression it would connect to both simultaneously.'
I'm also having a problem with it constantly seeming to run at half speed on both bands...  I've tried resetting to defaults, monkeying around with configurations, and even reinstalling the firmware.  None of it resolves the problem for any substantial period of time.  I guess I'll just have to wait til you guys come out with a better firmware... hope it's soon.

  • Any firmware update on WRT610N Ver 2?

I just bought WRT610N Ver2 few days ago
I checked Linksys website, Offical Firmware only 2.00.05B, was issued on last year.
But i found that Ver1 have firmware updates until Mar 2010
Also , there are some website say WRT610N ver 2 is equal to Cisco E3000,
and E3000 have new firmware for fix bugs on Aug 2010.
    So i want to know,
Does Cisco Linksys giveup any New Firmware on WRT610N Ver2?

I don't know where you're seeing updates to v1. The only thing I see dated March 2010 is the Upgrade instructions. Last Known firmware for V1 is still Ver.1.00.03.15 dated 07/28/2009. Far as I can tell. I'm patiently waiting for an update as well, but I fear it won't happen. I've used Linksys products for years, and love them, but It seems to me, everytime they release a new line of products, they abandon the last generation. Regardless of How old it is. Since the E series is out now, I have doubts they will continue to update the wrts.

  • E3000 firmware update fixes.

    Hey all,
I just wanted to know if anyone noticed that their E3000 has actually been working to its standards and price after the new firmware update (build 4). Just wanted to know the concensus, because I am getting flawless signal strength, no drops, burst speed is amazing, the heat problem has gone away (no joke..im hoping this isnt just mine). Anyone have an input on if the new firmware update has helped?

Yes, that is what I am observing too (Auto 20 or 40 but no 40 only).  Most of my adapters are N 2.4.  It is a shame I cannot pull more than 130-150 Mbps on these as "Auto" does not seem to work properly to give me 40 (it is always stuck on channel 1 at 20 MHz).  This may seem insignificant, but not when you are trying to transfer large files within the network.  I am also unable to get my full ISP provisioned throughput (43 down/35 up) at 130-150 Mbps.
With the wrt610n, I was able to get 270-300 easily by forcing 40 only.
It is a shame that Cisco's top of the line router does not have the basic functionalities needed.
You are right about 5 GHz.  It is very good.  But I only have one 5 Ghz adapter that I use for work VPN.

  • Firmware update for HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless to fix load paper issue - as for the 8500?

Is there any hope that that soon will be a firmware update to fix the issues loading paper and the printheads for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless printer?
A month or two ago there came a firmware update to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless, which has some of the same issues,
and allegedly should have the much of the same load-mechanism as the 8000 printer.
It would be great, as we are on the fourth (4) replacement of this HP 8000 printer. For example, it would be great if we could use normal (80g) paper and not has to use (HP) 90g paper, as this prevents us from using the duplexer and only print on one side.

Thanks for the advice to contact HP tech support!
I have tried in multiple ways since November 2009 to contact HP, when I got the first (of 4) printers. The first 3 printers was subsequently replaced.
Finally in late June 2010 I got the message that there was coming an firmware update for Windows, but not for Mac's. The firmware should improve among other things the paper pick up (load paper issue) and the print-heads life.
I have applied the Windows firmware on the printer from a pc, but still seems to have load-paper issues, even using HP Bright White paper, when printing from Mac's. I have not tested the printing from a pc, but assumes that a firmware upgrade the printer, and are not specific to a certain OS.

  • Fix for Thunderbolt OTA firmware update , when receiving an error message

Hi, my name is Lou, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post a solution or fix for Thunderbolt users that are unable to get their firmware update OTA..
For the last 2 weeks, when i got word that the (OTA) Over The Air firmware update should be coming out, i started going on my phones setting to check for new updates and started to receive an Error message, stating to check back when service was available, well Verizons attempt at fixing the issue was to to a hard factory reset, which didn't work, they also had me go to the local Verizon Wireless store and switch out my SIM card, and that didnt work, and they also tried Forcing the update to y phone, and again No resolve.. There last solution was to send me a refurbished phone, which I am strongly against, cuz I dont want a used piece of equipment, ... well anyways, I found the solution for the fix of getting the update downloaded to your phone, from www.thunderboltforums.com ,
You first need to downlaod an app from the market titled LTE On/Off app, install it. Once installed, I turned of my WiFi on the phone, then opened the LTE On/Off app, and rememer the original setting that its on, bcuz thats the setting u will have to set it at, when your update begins...   Select the CDMA mode, not the CDMA(PRL) mode...  then exit the app.... By selecting the CDMA mode only, this should make your either 3G or 4G signal switch to a 1X symbol.. then, i restarted my phone, .... i dont think restarting is necessary, but i did it anyways... when it restarted, the signal setting was still at 1X, then I went to setting, aSoftware Update, then Check Now, and within a minute or so, the Download option appeared.  once I started the downlaod, I let about a minute pass by, then I went and opened one last time, the LTE On/Off app, and switched the setting to its default setting, and mine was the 4G option and the 4G signal kicked in, and the 78Mb download completed within 3 minutes...  hopes this helps... It helped me...

I could be wrong but I believe this has been covered but thanks for sharing still...

  • Is firmware update (G4 Sawtooth audio fix) mandatory for upgrading to OSX?

Ive heard that you have to use the old Mac OS 9.1 to update the G4's firmware before installing OSX tiger. My problem is that ive bought a G4 without any existing operating systems and only have OSX tiger to put on it. I think the firmware is just an audio fix or something,
    has anyone updated without it?

Sorry but no. You have to use Classic to update it. Yeah well PC has no need to update firmware becuase they don't use Open Firmware, I think it's a UNIX thing. Not really sure on it, but if you'd like to know you can go to http://www.openfirmware.org
By the way, if you want Classic I can send you a disk that worked for my G4 AGP, I ordered two by accident. It installed in literally 2 minutes. It's extremely easy to install and it's worth it, booting up with new firmware is quicker. Not by much, but with a 450 mhz processor you'll notice the difference!

  • 2.1 firmware update listed signal strength display fix in its release notes

Summary to those who haven't read Apple's latest letter to iPhone 4 owners:
Apple is saying 'death grip' only affects the graphics of the signal strength not signal itself. Who accepts that? And will therefore fix this in the next firmware update.
But wait! This seems to be fixed in the 2.1 firmware update already!
    See 2.1 firmware update changelogs.
Google it, I don't want to post direct link as Apple may start pulling that information down.

Letter from Apple Regarding iPhone 4
    (emphasis mine)
    {quote}the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display *is totally wrong.*{quote}
    {quote}We will issue a free software update within a few weeks that incorporates the corrected formula. *Since this mistake has been present since the original iPhone*, this software update will also be available for the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G.{quote}
But the 2.1 firmware had in it's release notes as one of the improvements:
    {quote}improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display{quote}
So in 2.1 they improved the accuracy of a totally wrong formula?

  • Any fix for MacPro Fan problem caused by the last firmware update?

    Hi,
My macPro's fans have been going balistic on restart from sleep mode ever since I loaded that last firmware update that was supposed to address the MacPro fan control.
Any word on a fix... Is this overspeed damaging my hardware?

It is a bug in the firmware update because my MacPro never acted this way before the update was loaded...
Many have reported the problem... and some have not experienced it... Go figure.
Logic says this is not a bug. A bug with the firmware update would be universally felt, no exceptions. Firmware doesn't change its format out of the blue when it chooses to. What it does say is there are some Mac Pros that for whatever reason are not getting sufficient cooling in their position on the desk/floor, or the climate they are being used in. Since Apple does not publish the temperature limits internally for its machine, the best thing is to report this problem to AppleCare, even if the hardware test comes out negative.

  • So did the firmware update fix the 7200rpm drive noise/stalls?

Apple releases MacBook Pro hard drive firmware update
A new firmware fix for some MacBook Pro hard drives aims to stop random noises, perhaps bringing relief to some who have been plagued by clicking and beeping internal drives.
Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0 was released Wednesday for some 7200rpm drives. It is intended for June 2009 model MacBook Pro systems. The 3.71MB update requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 and will update the drive firmware to 0007APM2. It can be downloaded direct from Apple.
Apple says the update "reduces certain infrequent noises" made by the drives. Last week, the Mac maker officially acknowledged noisy hard drives that have been plaguing some MacBook Pro owners for months. Prior to the public confirmation, some AppleCare representatives had told individual customers that the company was working on a fix.
    http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/08/19/applereleases_macbook_pro_hard_drive_firmwareupdate.html

I was able to start the MacBook Pro in Target Mode. Tried to run Disc Utility from my other machine on the MacBook Pro and got the following message:
    Verifying volume "Macintosh HD"
    Invalid node structure
    Volume check failed
ERROR: Filesystem verify or repair failed.
This machine is less than 30 days old. I did the check and the updater informed me the Firmware was required. Will call Apple in the AM and get the scoop. I would NOT recommend installing the Firmware Update at this time.

  • Firmware Update for WAG200G to fix Security Hole

    Hello,
I use a Linksys WAG200G with firmware version  1.01.09, and recently became aware that this particular model has a publicly known exploitable backdoor (See: http://www.businessinsider.com/cisco-warns-about-security-hole-2014-1 for more info).
Has this security hole been fixed? If yes, where can I download an update for it?

  • Any plans to fix wireless networking after the 40S51U Firmware Update 2.2.5 broke it?

After the 40S51U Firmware Update 2.2.5 wireless passwords must be re-entered every time the device is powered on. It's been almost 4 months since the untested patch was released – is a fix coming?

You're the only person I can remember having that issue. You should call customer support.

  • Firmware update / xbox connection / disappearing connections on WRT610N !

I dont understand this anymore, I upgraded my router to the new firmware, did the reset 30 secs and then when I entered LELA I could see that the FIRMWARE of my Router is indeed upgraded to v1.00.02 B10 .   But after 1 hour I checked again, and now suddenly the firmware is UNKNOWN in LELA, I cant find the new firmware update anymore !  Also I lost connection again with my XBOX360 which I had for 30 minutes.   In my Linksys Router WRT610N I have the security settings on WPA2 but in XBOX360 I can not enter a WPA2 code, only a WPA code.   That worked fine for 30 minutes as told before, but NOW there is no connection anymore to XBOX LIVE.   I already forwarded the Ports 88 and 3074 to BOTH under the IP adress of the XBOX360 and enabled it, also still visible in the Router webpage settings.  WHAT IS CAUSING these constant CHANGES of firmware and loss of connection to Xbox etc ????
