WRT610n FTP unstable + Firmware request
A number of things to ask/request for. First off, may I please have an address for Firmware 1.00.00 B18 for WRT610n Version 1 please? Or a link to some kind of program that'll backup my current firmware? I don't like the idea of upgrading it without having a backup of the original that came with the router.
The other thing is, I did a quick check for the same FTP issue as myself and got over 10 pages of results, and a more specific search yielded only 3 which were slightly different issues. I checked the first page of results from the large list and found none of them also applied to my situation so I'm making this thread in the hopes you can help me out ^-^;
My FTP is setup via an External USB NTFS Harddrive. Locally I can access it no problem, but across the internet for some reason access only stays stable for about 12 - 24hrs before complete access failure. When it dies it's a nightmare to get running again, as a simple reboot of the router and harddrive, and even turning off FTP options and turning them back on all tend not to work unless all processes have been repeated at least twice. I'm sure it's probably just one of them or any two combinations that could solve the issue, but having to repeat the process everyday is obviously not ideal. Any ideas as to what the problem is? Since I can still access it locally it's obviously not the enclosure or the harddrive itself, and it shows the router itself isn't hanging up either, so what could be happening that's affecting FTP access via the external server IP itself?
Oh dear, in trying to resolve this problem a new one has been discovered.
At the moment the DHCP server option on the router is turned on. Client lease time is set to default of 0 (1 day), and I suddenly found that none of my machines on the LAN are in the DHCP client list anymore. According to the router, there is no PC or PS3 connected, even though they clearly are, and no IP addresses are assigned to anything, which is odd since I can clearly still access the internet and use it. However I found out that like this, my PS3 can't download anything from the market place, it can only surf and game.
I obviously thought I knew more than I did. I thought the DHCP would assign or re-assign the IP addresses once the lease expired, but that apparently isn't the case. I also thought that if an IP address wasn't assigned or re-assigned after the lease was up, communication from the machine that lost it's IP address would cease to work across the network, but rather than that happening it only appears to be limiting or blocking specific protocals.
It also makes sense that if I can't download from the PS3 marketplace, which uses the FTP protocal, then that'd explain why the FTP server will no longer work via the external IP Address across the Internet. However it's confusing how an IP address that is outside of the DHCP's range, should be affected by the DHCP, and yet the local address which is also outside of it's range, works. (Note: I had Users outside of my network also test the FTP, and whenever I was unable to access it using the external IP, they were also prevented from doing so)
I'm greatly confused by what's going on. Please help me T_T

Hello
How can i avoid password authentification when i access ftp from internet ?
I want that anyone can see stuff in my shared ftp folder without request for password.
RegardsHi! Usually, authentication is needed for you to access your ftp folder. But according to wikipedia, you can connect anonymously to the ftp folder/server if the service is configured to allow it. Quoting one of the paragraphs on this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_Transfer_Protocol, A host that provides an FTP service may provide anonymous FTP access. Users typically log into the service with an 'anonymous' (lower-case and case-sensitive in some FTP servers) account when prompted for user name. Although users are commonly asked to send their email address in lieu of a password, no verification is actually performed on the supplied data. Many FTP hosts whose purpose is to provide software updates will provide anonymous logins.

Dear Mr. Sony -
I have a firmware request for...
Sony DSX-S210X - Digital Media Receiver
...my vehicle does not provide support for a (light) dimmer. By default, when a dimmer cable is not connected, the MENU is set to AUTO. This means that the light is ON at FULL BRIGHTNESS.
As I understand it, many cars today do not have support for a dimmer as they did in the past. Therefore, I would request a firmware update for this product that provides a display brightness setting (lo-mid-hi) to replace the dimmer. OR allow the dimmer menu to select the same settings.
Currently when I'm driving at night, the interior is so bright from the car stereo that it distracts from my driving.
...or, if anyone has a suggestion to remedy this problem, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.
Please refer to page 27 of the users manual. Per the manual the dimmer can be turned on or off in the setup menu. You can access the manual by clicking here:

WRT610N FTP Administration: Limited Options
I'm wondering if there's a way go get more options for FTP administration, or if there's someone I can contact for feature requests. Basically, while an FTP server is quite a useful feature, the administration options are very limited, especially for security.
It would be nice if home directories can be set for individual users, and be able to set directory permissions rather than just relying on permissions based solely on group permissions. More important than anything else, is the ability to monitor the FTP site. I set up a syslog viewer on my local machine, but its limited to only the connections being made and broken, not allowing to view directory access.
Any input will be appreciated.
ThanksThe features are limited under administration...

WRT610N problems after firmware upgrade to 1.00.03.15
I've been using my WRT610N (hardware version 1) for years running firmware version 1.00.00.18.
I always used the 5Ghz SSID from laptops, iPad and iPhone and never bothered about the 2.4Ghz SSID.
Due to more frequent "cannot connect to <5Ghz SSID>" problems recently I decided to upgrade to the latest firmware version (1.00.03.15). Immediately since this firmware upgrade, the 5Ghz SSID is invisible to all devices except (strangely) my iPad. All other devices see only the 2.4 Ghz SSID.
I've tried switching channels etc. but to no avail.
Clearly, the firmware upgrade is the only thing here that changed but I'm at a loss to get the 5Ghz SSID back into action.
Anyone has an idea what's wrong here? The only remedy I can think of is to revert back to the old firmware version but somehow that feels wrong.
Thanks in advance,

Try setting 5GHz network as "Wireless-N only" instead of MIXED. That should help resolve this issue. -
WRT610N - FIOS - Unstable - Disconnects
First the Fios fix. The stupid Fios hub apparently doesn't want to hook up via WAN so I have WAN on my box to a regular port on the FIOS hub (This gave me the blue internet light on my WRT610N). Then a connected a lan port from Fios to a LAN port on my wireless router (Everything lights up, internet works great).
I was ripping my hair out trying it figure out how to get my network stable with all computers up for more then a minute or two at a time with no real success except on my laptop. All of my computers are running XP. It seemed like every time I got connected it would drop out and I knew something must be wrong with the software. I was right, I uninstalled all the Linksys software and just copied the drivers from the CD and then installed the hardware directing it to the driver.
My system is using the windows zero configuration utility and no linksys programs and I am 100% stable and fast as hell. I was just streaming 4 movies from 1 wireless desktop to 2 laptops and my xbox and the other desktop computer without any problems. I have 2 Desktops, 2 laptops, 1 Xbox360 and all working great and all except the Xbox are wireless using USB and laptop card.
I only post this because as I was trying to figure out my issue I would be reading through 15 pages of posts before getting something useful so I thought having an answer on top that actually works might be helpful. I am glad I didn't return it.If you face any more problems with your router, there is a firmware upgrade available...Download Firmware 7.27 MB...

Mega Player 538 firmware request
I recently purchased an MSI Mega 538 mp3 player. Which may have been a mistake. I need it to listen to long mp3 recordings of business meetings. Unfortunately, the 538 does not remember its playback location within a file. I may be a half hour into an mp3 and have to turn the 538 off - when I turn it back on it starts again at the beginning and I have to fast forward to search for where I was. Could you please do a firmware update to fix this problem - I have 2 other players that have this feature - I always thought that was standard. Without this the 538 is useless to me.
As this is simply a User to User forum there is no one here that can help with firmware. However a request can be placed at http://support.msi.com.tw

The Megastick Firmware Request Topic
place anything you'd like to see changed in the megastick's firmware. be realistic however. place suggestions you think everyone would benefit from. if you notice a request from someone else you'd like to see in future versions too, just reply with it again.
after a while i'll submit the link to this topic to msi to see what they come up with.Hello all,
First of all, I really like the Megastick, it's packed with features!
What I'd like to see updated with the firmwares is right here:
- Use the 'off button' as a pause service. When turned back on again, I'd like to continue my song, or continue listening to the radio.
- Directory selection; when putting an album on the MSI Megastick, selecting the album (directory) through the menu option would be nice.
- Automated reset function after uploading files; Sometimes I upload an album or selected files all at a time. Then the MSI stick 'remembers' the way the computer put them in place (like on a shelf, books selected: A,B,C,D. Books Delivered: B,D,A,C.) Then the playback is also in this scrambled order, not numerical or alphabetical.
- Custom language support (i.e. Dutch); If users could alter in a .ini file or something, delivered with a update package what to use for playbackterms, ANY language could be used / replaced by wish (i.e.: rip out the French language input text, but still read in the selectable languages French, only the vocabulary is exchanged). (otherwise I'll offer myself to translate it into Dutch!)
- User selectable Equaliser settings; I like one of the settings, but this is not 'it' what I'm looking for, or like to listen to.
- Possibility to support OGG vorbis? Just like the guy before uttered.
- Personally, I haven't detected the WMA flaw yet, but other people I see hassling about it too, for the dutch users, see http://gathering.tweakers.net for extra information and user comments.
- If possible the stereo recording would be VERY nice, and could beat any competition with the MiniDisk users!
- The beep option mentioned by Optiplex is very handy, I'll stick with that.
- User Settings dump on disk; When removing the battery, you lose all your setting (i.e. backlight, volume, record rate, shutdown, equaliser settings) could this be 'dumped on the stick' in a 1 kb file? Every time you change your settings this will be recorded in this specific file, and read when powered up.
Thank you all in advance, I haven't met such a company what gets down with user requests before.
Keep up the good work! -
BIOS firmware request for G580

I have a lenovo G580(20157) Essential laptop and my BIOS isn't accessible due to installation of ARCH LINUX on my laptop I tried various things to recover my BIOS back but couldn't so is there a link where I can download my BIOS from??

Moderator Note; s/n edited for member's own protectionNot to difficult to find... Why the "original" BIOS request? Usually not a good idea to backstep BIOS unless directed to by support professionals. Also, BIOS updates are independant of Windows Versions, the installer or "flashing": program used to install the BIOS file is sometimes Windows version dependant.
Either way - check this page for BIOS files: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g580-no...

N96 runs very unstable: Firmware 30.033
Hi everybody I recently could change to a N96. After I became it, Idid a firmware upgrade to V. 30.033. The Problem is, that the N96 runs very unstable since that.. For example: recently i've listened radio, then opened the browser, and wanted tochange the net-settings to umts- BANG-- Reset.. A lot of resets are ocurring during navigation with nokia maps and also google maps.. But: these resets can happen anytime, without a single sign before. I'm really helpless, (and im not a newbie) Heard that it could have to do with too full memory cards, but it can happen also without a card inside the phone.. I already did multiple soft resets and hard resets- without any success. Is there anybody there who knows what that could be- i've read about other users with the same problems since they've upgraded to V 30.033. Never before had a phone who did a reset, so this is really new for me and absolutely annoying, and especially in this price segment actually innacceptable!!! Thankyou for your suggestions & help
i think there is an option in the settings that allows Wlan to scan automatically in a period of time like (5 minutes or so)
you can change it to OFF or Manually

Novice Question: XML File using FTP Adapter Help Requested
I need to create (publish) a message from an XML file that is written to a particular folder on a Win2000 machine (I intend running the adapter on the same machine). I think that the FTP adapter should be the easiest way to do this but I have only used this adapter to publish DL3-defined files, and only then on a unix platform.
Is the FTP adapter the correct approach or is there a better way, and if it is the correct approach, can anyone point me to a sample application or pass along a sample adapter.ini so I can figure out configuring the adapter.
Thanks
EricWe use the FTP adapter for both reading and writing XML files. And it works quite OK (there are a few gliteches but nothing you cannot work around). You need to first make (find) a DTD for your XML file and import that as the AV for the message in IS (IStudio). Then you just point the adapter to the correct directory and it should work from there.
As for better way Im not sure I'm no InterConnect expert but I dont know any other way to do it.
Might be worth to notice (if you didn't already know) that you dont actually need FTP if it is on the local filesystems you can in the FTP adapter read from the local FS something along the lines of file:///c:/foo/bar as oposed to ftp://...
As for adapter.ini you shouldn't need anything besids pointing the reciver to the correct directory the rest is done from IS.
Let me know if you want more details...

ZEN Firmware request: Expanded EQ setti
I've just recently acquired the ZEN 6GB model,
and I simply love it, with one exception:
Lots of stuff in the forums about the EQ options,
but nobody seems to have yet pointed out the fact
that the ZEN models arri've with only a 5-band EQ,
and that this is rather sub-par as compared to the
Creative products & drivers I'm accustomed to for
the desktop PC platform.
Presets simply don't work for me, as they're all
too loaded with boosts/drops in all the wrong
bands. Put simply, they all sound lousy when
filtering flat-recorded sources.
Besides this, it's an awful lot of time & effort
to resample with EQ settings optimized, provided
one even has the software to allow such.
Anything from an adjustable 7-Band to 24-Band EQ
setting option would be enormously appreciated by
myself and, I'm sure, by many others. Simply
offering another two bands, or even expanding the
high- and low-frequency breadth, would make a world
of difference to those of us who like to tweak
the frequency gains to our own liking. This would
allow us to compensate for differing situations,
such as the difference between listening from our
cars' AUX input and a set of earbuds/headphones.
Even better, while expanding the EQ capability,
would be an option to also save presets for quick
recall for the various environments many ZEN users
are likely to be traversing: Earbuds/headphones,
portable speakers, car, home-stereo connection,
PC input, etc...
We all know that these environments present extremely
different listening stages from one another, and that
easily-retrievable presets would make the whole
process of transfer a simpler and more-rewarding
experience.
While the adjustable EQ function does help some,
it's just lacking, as far as what I expected from
Creative. It falls rather short of their similar
PC-card drivers, and leaves much to be desired
in terms of the adjustability I've come to expect
from Creative Labs.
I do hope, particularly as the 5-band is already in place,
that Creative will see clear to offer similar options
as their higher-end Desktop products, making them
available to their top-dollar ZEN models.Signed!!!
Hopefully this can go in the next firmware (if it comes out...) -

Use the attached.
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the provided archive (TV274MH_161.rar) and put the included file (TV274MH.161) on that stick.
Rename TV274MH.161 to 161.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 161.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.
Thank you so much Going to try now, will report back. -
Muvo TX firmware request and probl
Recently I have bought a Creative Muvo TX SE with the firmware version .3.02.
I inserted brand new batteries, but everytime i scroll through songs and release the scrolling wheel the player shuts off. Cue/Review is off.
I have searched the forum and know that this problem might be fixed by reinstalling the firmware, but, however, I do not know where to get Version .3.02 since the Creative homepage has not updated firmware on Muvo TX since 2-Feb-05 and you may understand that since I do not know for sure that downgrading to .0.05 fixes the problem I hesitate to try.
I also suspect that the firmware versions for Muvo TX and TX FM are/have been the same except for the radio feature, so I do not want to miss features like improved cue/review and some fixes which where included in version .2.0 and later versions therefore might as well be included in .3.02 and which .0.05 might miss.
Well, couldn't Creative at least offer the current firmware version for Muvo TX (SE) for download?
Does anyone have .0.05 and does not experience my problems or has up/downgrading to .0.05 worked for anyone to fix this particular problem?I bought mine with firmware version ..0, which is not listed as a MuVo TX firmware version on the site. I 'downgraded' the firmware too, for this specific problem: http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=83584
Only thing I've noticed as a difference is slower startup times, but for the rest, I'm not missing any functionality. Hope this hel
ps.
P.S. Could you check if your MuVo has the same problem as mine? Thanks ;-)
