WRT610N - Incorrect password or unknown username issue

I have had the router hooked up to WD My Book 1TB HD for a few weeks with no issues.  Now it is requiring that I manually login to the mapped drive to have access to the HD.  Have reset to factory settings and remapped drive, but every time I reboot I receive the "Incorrect password" error message when I try to access the mapped drive.  Any thoughts on how I can get the mapped drive to remember the login ID and password?  Operating system is Windows XP Home edition.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Thanks, unfortunately it only gave me the id and password.  Ultimately I setup new users through the router configuration and synced the user/passwords with Windows login (suggestion I had read about).  I was trying to avoid this as the router GUI saves the info to a file on root directory of the NAS.  As long as I don't have shared access to the root directory (which I don't intend to) this should be fine.

  • XI 7.0 - Authorization error; unknown username or incorrect password

    Hi,
We are getting "<b>Authorization error; unknown username or incorrect password</b> " error when we try to login to Integration repository , Integration directory in Consolidation XI 7.0 system.
But I can login sucessfully with user "pisuper" , but not any other user.
Our BASIS guy has assigned similar authorization as pisuper.
Since i have all the roles as copy of "pisuper" , it is not allowing to login.
Please suggest if someone encountered this same issue.

    Hi,
Please check Note 938980 if you are using VPN.
This is probably a Java Web-Start issue. Please check logon with other JWS versions. Also check if you have any conflicting JWS versions installed.

  • There was an error opening this document. unknown username or incorrect password

The error message is in French but here's a rough translation : "There was an error opening this document. Session failure : unknown username or incorrect password"
The work environment is Windows 7 x64 on a domain. The error occurs when opening files on a network share. Outside of Adobe Reader, files are accessible (i.e can copy the file to the desktop and it opens fine there).
Version X is being used right now but XI was also tested and the same error message is shown no matter what version is used. The user has read/write/modify/exec access on the share.

What Reader X / Reader XI versions did you test with?
I remember seeing other forum posts where versions 10.1.12 and 11.0.09 have problems with network shares.  Reverting to 10.1.11 / 11.0.08 made it work again.

  • Squirrelmail: Unknown username or password incorrect, using SSL

I'm trying to use SSL for email on Mac OSX Server. It works fine from clients using Mozilla Thunderbird but Squirrelmail won't connect. Using the webmail interface I get "Unknown username or password incorrect" every time I try to login.
I went through the squirrelmail conf.pl script and made sure it had cyrix and that the authentication method matches the one checked in Server Admin. The configtest.php returns info followed by this error:
ERROR: You need the openssl PHP extension to use SMTP/IMAP TLS!
The thing is I've tryed this without SSL and still get the "Unknown username" error. In other words, I'm willing to go without SSL IMAP if it will just get this to work but it seems likely there is some other problem than the missing PHP library.
On php.net it has the following:
To use PHP's OpenSSL support you must also compile PHP --with-openssl[=DIR].
I would rather not diverge from Apple's standard config but why isn't SSL for IMAP assumed in the php config that ships on Mac OSX Server? What is the best way to enable the openssl module of php without breaking anything else? Anyway, where are the php files on Mac OSX server?
    Mac mini; iMac G5; PowerMac G3 B&W, Rev1, 400Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

It's just not supported and not needed.
The traffic is local, never hits a network so no need to encrypt the traffic.
I would recommend that you have the IMAP SSL option in ServerAdmin set to "Use" not "Require" so that is allows both port 143 and 993.
Have your imap clients connect to port 993 (ssl). Also have this port open through the firewall if needed.
Your Squirrelmail web site should be set to use HTTPS so it's authentication (actually all content) is encrypted over the public internet.
SquirrelMail config can be configured for regular imap on port 143. And block this port at the firewall.
With this setup, anything traversing the public internet is secured.

  • Upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion, SMB issues - incorrect password

This is a very frustrating issue, and its affecting my work now.
Basically I used to use the SMB sharing quite a lot in work, it was an ideal way for our clients to get to data off my MBP and worked like a dream in OSX 10.6
I was an early adopter, and upgraded to Lion on release date. Problem is now, I have SMB sharing switched on, but no user accounts enabled. When I tick to enable one I get "Incorrect password" (see picture)
I tried disabling SMB and it again prompted me for my password, and to no avail, I got "incorrect password" again.
I updated to 10.7.1, and STILL unresolved. I am very disappointed that this, as well as the Guest account being disabled if you have FileVault enabled (which is a requirement of my employer due to the sensitive nature of the data we handle). I experience persistent Kernel panics triggered by my MBP switching from the Intel HD graphics to the Nvidia chipset, I am extremely frustrated and disappointed overall.

I mistakedly posted this to another topic. It's something that worked for me, I hope it to be of help to others as well.
    Try the following:
    1. Create a Sharing Only account through "Users & Groups" preference pane, assign a password to the account. Suppose we you create an account named "mike".
    2. In Network select your interface, go to Advanced and then WINS. Under Workgroup set the default WORKGROUP and under NetBIOS Name set whatever suits you (let's assume you put "imac").
    3. Now go to Sharing select a folder to share and add the "mike" user account you just created for sharing-only purpose, go to Options tick the checkbox for SMB and then for the "mike" account and enter its password when asked for it.
    4. When accessing the shares from Windows box enter username in format "imac\mike" and the password for the account.
This should set you up for accessing your Mac shares from your Windows machine.
There still is a problem with adding ad hoc sharing account from the Sharing preference pane, a bug hopefullly resolved in some of the upcoming updates.

    Hi,
Check this for the roles required for integration builder [http://help.sap.com/SAPHELP_NW04S/helpdata/en/c4/51104159ecef23e10000000a155106/content.htm]
Accordingly get the required role assigned to the user you are using there.
Unlock the user if it is locked
Reset the password and provide the new password in the login settings
    Give a try again

  • Incorrect password issues

I have set up Time Capsule as my network. My main PC is a Dell XPS Desktop with Windows XP. The network is set up fine, working with the PC, plus two laptops (one Dell and one MacBook Pro) and a wireless printer. Everytime I reboot, the PC asks for the log on to my Time Capsule. I put in the correct password, and it is rejected with an Airport Base Station Agent error box that reads "Unknown user, incorrect password, or login is disabled. Please retype the login information or contact the disk's administrator (1203)." I have talked to Apple Techs twice. I have reset the password, including pushing the reset button on the Time Capsule itself. I have reentered new passwords. I have even uninstalled Airport, Bonjour and iTunes. None of that is working. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Second issue is I can't get XP to recognize the Capsule as a backup drive. Thank you for your help.

I have the exact same problem with Windows Vista.
I set up everything right (I suppose) and I can even connect and print from windows, but after a while (or restart), a password box appears and when that is filled out, I get the same error message. I can still use the Wifi connection, just not print or see the shared network drive. The funny thing is that I can access and restart the TC from Windows with the air-port utility, and after that I can connect just fine and everything works. I can't figure out what is happening and why Windows seems to loose the connection. It's a bit annoying to have to restart the TC each time I have to print or access the network files...

  • Unknown User/Incorrect Password when trying to access external drive

I just set up my airport extreme base station, plugged in USB hub with two printers, and all worked excellent. Then I hooked up an external hard drive, again no problems at all. I was able to access the hard drive on my MacBook Pro with the password I set up and everything was great. When I try to access the hard drive on my windows computer, I keep getting a message saying "unknown user, incorrect password, contact administrator" I am using the same password I used on my MacBook. The drive was formatted in Fat32 and works on my MacBook and on my windows PC when connected directly via USB. The only problem seems to be when I try to access the drive on the windows PC. The drive shows up no problem and the dialogue box opens and asks for the password, but then I keep getting that error message. I contacted apple tech support and they pretty much told me they have nothing to do with windows, even though the product can by run entirely on windows machines with no macs at all. Has anyone else had any problems like this, or have any clue what I might be able to do???
    Thanks

Will windows recognize a drive formatted in Mac OS
Extended? I had originally tried that, and my
windows pc wouldnt even recognize it.
Well XP/Vista will not play nice with it unless you buy and install a Windows shareware/boxware program called MacDrive. This way you can make that PC read/write a Mac OS X Extended formatted drive. Bonus is you can use that drive for a central iTunes Library that both machines can use.

iPhone WiFi issue. I enter a password, click join, and get a message back that it is an incorrect password. I have several computers and other iPhones connected using the same password. Any ideas?

    Hey there Gordo456,
It sounds like you are not able to join your Wi-Fi network with the correct password on 1 out of many devices. I recommend the troubleshooting from the article named:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Restart your iOS device.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
If that troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, I would next try these steps from further down the article:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you're attempting to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you're entering your Wi-Fi password correctly. Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Ipad wifi incorrect password issue

    Hi:
I just bought a Ipad 3G 64Gb. In my home it can connect to my WPA wireless network fine. At job there is a WEP WiFi network wich I cant connect!!.
I'm sure the password is fine but always I get "Incorrect password" error. I tried with my laptop and Iphone 3G (IOS 4.1) with no problem, but with the brand new Ipad there is a issue...
I tried by looking information about this and it seems is a IOS bug...
Is there a fix, workaround or something?
    Thanks in advance

    Regarding PW length:
The length of a WEP key depends on the type of WEP security (called "encryption") utilized:
    40- / 64-bit WEP: 10 digit key
    104- / 128-bit WEP: 26 digit key
    256-bit WEP: 58 digit key
Also: A WEP key is a sequence of hexadecimal digits. These digits include the numbers 0-9 and the letters A-F.

    Hello scollins60,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
    "Error -3150"
This alert is often related to a lost connection to the iTunes Store.
If you encounter this alert and you have verified you have a connection to the Internet using Wi-Fi, please reviewAirPort and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference.
If the issue persists, and you're using iTunes for Windows, you may need to flush your DNS and remove pop-up or ad-blockers.
Finally, this can occur due to timeouts caused by security software.

Well the list above shows that you have configured a pre-authorized access for the oracle user, and this is where the password check is failing. If you don't have any Windows in your OSB domain then you should remove this entry so it just shows as [none]
