WRT610N storage link user/group creation

I just got the WRT610N and I really like it so far, I'm playing with the NAS option and I can't get it to create any new users or groups. I click on the link, fill out the form and click on 'modify user' (The set-up guide has a button there for 'save settings') and nothing gets created. I tried this several times and there are no new groups or users. I checked the storage.info file and there is no additional users or groups there either. I think I can edit that file but I'm not too sure what these last 2 lines mean

I figure the admin: off is also the reason I can't login as admin which is a real pain if I want to upload new data to the share...Anyone out there seen this or can help? I'm running firmware 1.00.00 B18

I highly doubted a complete reconfigure would correct a faulty GUI/option. I considered it as a last resort, but I got this working without doing so.
Here's what I did -
Edited the last 2 lines of the .storage_info like this.
nas_login@admin:admin:admin: on guest:guest:guest: off admin:user:admin: on user:welcome:admin: on
users_content@admin:admin:admin:admin: on guest:guest:guest:guest: off user:welcome:admin: on
I didn't think it would work, it was just a shot in the dark. I was using a 2gb thumb drive and clicking on the remove safely each time I removed it from the router. After I changed the config, I plugged it back in and it showed up as connected, but I couldn't connect to it from Windows Vista, XP, or OS X. I unplugged the router and the cable modem and let it sit unplugged over night. Plugged it back in the next day and pushed the thumb drive back in. It showed up and looked good. There was no user called user, but there was 2 admins. I logged into the GUI this time using IE (I used Firefox on all the OS before). On the admin tab I clicked on the Create User and it actually came up with a Create User button (before it was Modify User). I added a few more users and a few groups so I could compare that to the original .storage_info. It saved and wrote to the file, but I still couldn't connect over the LAN. I unplugged it again overnight, deleted the .storage_info, and the public folder the router creates, and tried it the next day. Everything was working as it is supposed to. I plugged in a WD 500gb drive and the router found it, but there was no option to share a folder. I could still add users though. Unplugged the router for another night and tried it again. It's working now as I expected. I'm not sure if it was the config change, the overnight unplugs, or using IE (Firefox works now too), but it is working. Now if I could only get all the folder permissions to match....

I have connected a 500GB external WD "My Drive" hard disk to my WRT610N wireless router. My intent is to be able to periodically back up three computers, all linked wirelessly to the WRT610N onto this hard disk. The disk is recognized by the router, but the directions on how to set up the shares are Greek to me. Once set up, can these back-ups run automatically in the background at specific times or does one have to initiate the back-up?
Has anyone set up a similar configuration with the storage link and if so, how did you go about doing it?

To create a share, go to the UI of the wrt610n and click on Storage tab. Click on Create Share. Assign permission to the Group that you want to grant access. I believe you need to manually create back-up.

Tcode attachment to a report painter---User group Creation

i created a form using fgi4 using Report Painter. And attaching the form to a Transaction Code.
For creating Transaction Code I Did the following Steps.
SE93 ---> taken the option parameter transaction .

To create a TCode, follow the steps below.
1) Go to Transaction code SE93, Enter TCode Name and Press Create.
2) Give short Description and select Parameter Transaction, Press Enter
3) Select Transation Radio Button and write START_REPORT in the next text
box Also Check the box Skip Initial Screen.
4) On the bottom of Screen (default Values), Enter Parameters
i) Name = D_SREPOVARI-REPORTTYPE. Value = RW
ii) Name = D_SREPOVARI-REPORT Value = Your Report Group Name (Say ZGrp)
5) Save and Execute.

from the library i took one form .... executed ... from the selection System ->status program name .
i took the program screen name....

new trascation code type report type .... i didnot used parameter type .
saved executed it was working fine .
if you want authorisation group you can give here or else basis will takecare of it .

pls share your experiences, how much mb read/write speed ,did u see with wireless connection between usb hd on router-notebook(with N wireless).

WRT610N on Mac, Storage Link Write Issue

I have a 320GB seagate external hard drive, 1 NTFS partition, connected to my WRT610N, and I can connect to my drive from my MAC.
I can read files on the drive and I can create folders on the drive, but I can't copy files from my computer to the drive.
I have the Users set-up on the router with Admin privileges.
Does anyone have any ideas on what my problem may be.

I have Paragon's NTFS for Mac OS X which enables me to read and write NTFS, when I plug the drive directly into my mac it works fine, read and write, it's just when I use the storage link.
Correct me if I'm wrong but HFS+ doesn't work with storage link, or so I've read in other threads, I haven't actually tried it myself.
So if I'm incorrect in saying that please let me know.

Mass creation of common folders for different user groups

Hello Experts,
We are using Portal 7.0 SP12 and we have 10 different user groups created in Portal.
Based on this group structure, we need to create two common folders in each of the user's personnel documents in KM.
Is there is any way to achieve this kind of requirement ?
Can we do mass creation of these two common folders which will be assigned to all of the groups. This needs to be done in user's personnel documents and not in Public documents.
Any help in this context would be highly appreciated. points assured.

For every user a folder is created in userhome. One approach is to capture this folder creation event and create the folder structure you need. You need to develop a portal service which will listen to events from userhome repository.
1. Capture folder creation event for user home
2. Create the folder structure you want in this event handler

What is the Advantage of creation of user group through SUGR?

Hello Masters,
As per audit requirement I have maintained user groups for different sets of users through SUGR, but I am not getting except differenciating users (based on group), is there any other advantage? Can we assign role to a user group instead of assigning to list of users or can we do any mass changes to an user group by giving only user group name.

Apart from maintaining user group for Differnciation purpose you can also take the advantage on the following sectors:
1. Follow the http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ce/17533e5ff4d064e10000000a114084/content.htm link . From this you will come to know the use of user group in the authorisation area.
2. User Groups also allow segregation of user maintenance, this is especially useful in a large organisation as you can control who your user admin team can maintain - an example would be giving a team leader the authority to change passwords for users in their team.
3. The authorization user group is used in conjunction with S_USER_GROUP authorization object. It allows to create security management authorization by user group. e.g. you can have a local security administrator only able to manage users in his groups, Help-Desk to reset password for all users except users in group SUPER, etc...

Windows Server 2012 Group Policy Block USB Storage devices @ User Level Not getting applied on a Domain Client machine with Windows Server 2008 R2. Why?

I have a Windows Server 2012 R2.
I have configured the Group Policy on it to block the usage of USB - Storage Devices @ user level on the client machines. It works properly for my Windows 7 client machines but it's not working on one of the machine having Windows Server 2008 R2 installed
on it (this machine is also a domain client in the same domain).
I will really be thankful if anyone can suggest some solution to this issue.
Please feel free to write back in-case I have missed anything obvious to be shared.

Report links by user group

hi, is it possible to set the "report links" per user group
for example, the report links are Download, Refresh for user group Sales.
the report links are Download, Refresh and Modify for user group Sales Admin.
Just wanna know whether this can be done.

If "Sales" doesn't have the Answers privilege, then the "Modfiy" link won't be rendered even if specified for the request. So you can just keep it in and all users having access to Answers will see it. Read-only users (i.e. no Answers) won't.

User= Group= SubGroup= Role: Now working when this link is used

We are using EP 5.0 with LDAP 7.6 When a user id created it is attached to a group and the group is attached to a role. I introduced a nested group in this link as userid is attached to group, group is attached to sub group and subgroup is attached to role. When i did like this and login to the portal system the roles are not seen in the portal.
Below are the things which i did,
When a user id(Ex : MYTEST1) is created it is attached to a group(Ex : ESS_GE) by the below code.

Group is attached to a role(EP_GE_USER_ROLE). So the link is User =>Group=>Role which is MYTEST1=>ESS_GE=>EP_GE_USER_ROLE. This linke is working perfectly
I introduced a nested group and changed the link as User=>Group=>Sub_Group=>Role which is MYTEST1=>ESS_GE=>ESS_GE_ONLINE=>EP_GE_USER_ROLE.
After this when I login with the user id MYTEST1 the Roles which are attached to ESS_GE_ONLINE is not shown. Any idea why the roles which are attached to group ESS_GE_ONLINE is not transferred to ESS_GE group. Should I have to add any other LDAP attributes apart from the one which are coded below.

New user creation in AE- user group not getting assigned

Hi All,
Here is a typical case, wherein when we create a new user with AE for the production system, the user gets created and the roles are also assigned but the user group is not getting assigned. The user group is being fetched from a table from the backend and all that is working fine. Infact in order to test the configurations we even created a new user in the production instance of AE giving the development system as the target system for user creation and in this case the user was successfully created and the user group is also assigned. The problem is arising only when the target system is production system.
Connectors are all working fine, but we are unable to think of a reason. Can somebody help us on this?

If you are provisioning the user group using user defaults, check that production system is selected in the user defaults configured. Configuration -> user defaults. You can define any user default system, but for perticuticular user defaults that is applicable define all the systems, in which you want user defaults to be provisioned.

I'm working with SAP Queries (SQ01) and I don't know how can I change the user group assignation of a query. We did only one user group for all users and queries and know in order to arrange it a bit we've created three user groups.
We know how to assign users to new user groups but for each query of the old group we neet to move it to one of the new user groups, how could we do this?
