WRT610N v2- Which Ethernet Bridge to buy to go with it for LG BD370 BluRay player?

I have a WRT610N v2 router, which I LOVE.  I need an ethernet bridge (to connect a LG BD370) Blu-Ray DVD player.  I've spoken with Linksys tech support & I'm sad to say, got misinformed.  I'd actually ordered a PLS300 (which I cancelled) when I found out there weren't any updates for it.  I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
The tech support person first told me I needed a WET610N & then changed her mind.
The WRT610N is located in the office about 15 yards from where I need to connect the  ethernet support to the entertainment system.   I also have a wireless printer (Lexmark Platinum PRO905 that is about 5 feet from the LG Blu ray player.  Is the ethernet bridge going to interfere with the Blu ray player?
I'm just wanting to get connected to NetFlix.  I've paid for this service since last spring but am just now getting around to sorting this out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!  TIA

Thanks, Gollum!  I've now got the WET610N ordered & the EZXS55W ethernet switch.  They both should be here by Friday.
The WRT610N router is in my office, hardwired to the HughesNet modem & HP Desktop running Windows XP Pro.  The two new laptops (HP dv7-3078nr and HP dv8t-1000 (both running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit)) and the Lexmark Platinum Pro905 AIO are in my den (about 30 feet away).  Right now, the dv8 (my main laptop I keep on continuosly & the Lexmark Pro905 are both here in the den, connected wirelessly to the WRT610N.
Here is the configuration of the entertainment system:
LG 50PS60 Plasma HDTV
LG LHT854 Surround Sound
LG ACC97WK-R Wireless Rear Speaker
LG BD370 BluRay DVD Player
I have DISH network with a 722K DVR
Do I need to connect the WET610N first?  Then add the bridge?  This is where I am afraid I am going to mess up.
Right now, everything is working GREAT.
Do you think I need to hardwire the Lexmark printer into the switch?
Could someone please advise (in very simple steps) what I need to do to get the WET610N & ethernet bridge connected?
All I want to do is be able to download NetFlix movies!  I am scared that the (((HughesNet))) is going to be the problem due to their low FAP cap.  Due to my location (I am 25 miles from the closest town with wireless (Verizon, Sprint, etc) offices & have already tried 3 different wireless cards here (none of which worked due to our location).
I'm beginning to think it would have been simpler to just buy the LG BD390 (wifi already installed) & put my BD370 on eBay! LOL
Any help would be greatly appreciated!  TIA

Depends on how you want to use it. Flash storage on the newer macbook and macbook air are built in. A macbook air is the most light weight and a very good machine. It will do all you want it to do unless you are running some very intensive programs. If you go to the apple store on line you can compare  the different macbook pro" and macbook Air's.

  • Connecting WAG320n to WRT610n using WET610n ethernet bridge

I have upgraded my network with a WAG320n Router/modem and have a WET610n (ethernet bridge) in my remote room.  Because the WET is only one port, I would like to connect my old WRT610n router to the bridge, but need to know the right settings and connection info.  The purpose is to use the additional ports and wireless from the remote location.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Problem solved and improved on
    Thanks Klatch,
The WAG320n is nice, but not simultaneous dual band, so I set it for 5Ghz.  I hard wired an accesspoint (WAP610n) to the router, set it for 2.4Ghz, and placed it about 3 meters apart from the Router.  This gave me better access on the second floor for all devices with either bands.  (I gave the access point it's own SSID to distinguish it).
To expand coverage to the first floor I installed the wireless N Ethernet Bridge (WET610N) on the fringe range of my routers output (still 4 bars).  The bridge is set to 5Ghz - because that's what the WAG320 is.  Then I connected the WRT610N router (which is simultaneous dual band) to the bridge.  You plug the bridge into a LAN port on the WRT610N, NOT the WAN port.  The WRT610 was programmed to 192.168.1.2, DHCP turned off, NAT disabled.  I have the other 3 WAN ports hard wired to devices (Playstation, Slingbox, Blue Ray Player).  All other first floor PC's are connected wirelessly via the 5GHZ or 2.4GHZ bands.  The first floor coverage is excellent.   I maintained different SSID's for each Router and the Access Point, to distinguish which router or band I want to connect to.
If linksys only made the WAG320 simultaneous dual band, it would provide the extended coverage to all older and newer devices!!    The whole world isn't wrapped around 5Ghz yet!  So..  If you want to extend and use another router as a repeater (wirelessly) you need a wireless Ethernet Bridge (or gaming adaptor) from the primary router and connect it to the secondary router.   Anything can be done with a little effort.  Thanks

  • Which Sony Camera to buy to work with FCE HD?

I'm looking at either the Sony HDR FX1E HDV or Sony HDR HC1E HDV.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi(Bonjour)!
That depends of what are your needs...
Both models works well with FCE HD 3.5 .
Try some research on the web for a comparaison between those two models. Look at:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/SonyHandycam_HDR_HC3/4505-65007-31749257.html?tag=tpr
    and
    http://reviews.cnet.com/SonyHDR_FX1/4505-65007-31085889.html
The FX1E (E stands for european model) seems to be more semi-professionnal (3 CCD chips, big lens, big form factory, more manual controls and big price) than HC1(one CMOS chip, smaller case, operation by screen menus). But the HC1 would give good results either. Pay attention that HC1 is actualy replaced by a newer model: HC3 for the same price. May be you can find a bargain price for a new HC1.
It's a matter of finding to good balance between your needs and your wallet...
Remember that HDV needs powerful computer with plenty of RAM and space on hard disk, but that image quality is fantastic. (a dual G5 with 4.5 Gig RAM is a such powerfull computer).
Actually, your options for distibuting HDV natively are limited to play final movie from your camcorder. There is not DVD burner that support HDV right now. (do a search in this forum under "HDV, iDVD DVD burner"

  • Which SP to use in portal ep7 with BP for EPR2005

    Hello,
I installed portal EP 7 and ERP 2005 both SR2
I also installed the XSS BP in the portal
Now I want to install sp-stacks but I have the following dilema
    which sp-stack do I install
    a) for ERP 2005
    b) for the EP 7
    c) for the XSS BP
    Please, advise.
    Kind regards,
    Gil Halevy

    Hello Antoine,
    I have 2 different landscapes:
    1) An EP 7 portal landscape that is working with the ECC 5.0 system without XSS (only self developed webdynpro).
    2) Two side systems ECC 6.0 and an EP 7 portal with BP XSS 600.
Here is what I performed up until now:
    1) I installed SP-stack #14 on a different EP 7.0 landscape with no problem.
    2) However, when I try to install SP#14 on the side EP 7 system with the BP XSS 600, the JSPM queue does not recognize some of the files - for example the kernel files (SAPEXE.SAR and SAPEXEDB.SAR) which were uploaded fine in the other landscape using the exact same JSPM queue.
What am I doing wrong ?
Why doesn't the JSPM recognize the kernel files ? Where do I get other kernel *.SAR files ?
Remark: It also requests some other files which are part of the BP XSS.
    Please, advise further.
    Kind regards,
    Gil

  • Can I buy a headset with microphone for my 13" MACBOOK PRO?

There is only one hole to plug an earphone, and when i record in my software, and i replay it. it sounds strange. so i'm trying to change a microphone.
is the headset with microphone for A1278 on sale? could somebody give me an sale net address?

Thank you. I know what you mean. Apple can support earpiece and microphone in one plug.
When I ask about this question, my MBP had trouble in Windows XP.
I'm Chinese, and there is a software named DynEd. I was using it to record my voice, that voice changed when I replay. It just like an iPhone app:Talking Prez.
And then I reinstall my windows system. Now I'm using Windows 7, and the question resolved.
Maybe 4GB memory is too big for WinXP x32.
    What do you think?

  • Which cassette adapter to buy?

I am planning on buying a 5th Generation IPod Nano. I am not sure which cassette adapter to buy to connect it to the combination CD/Cassette player in my car. I want to play the MP3 player in my car. I heard not to use a FM transmitter because of poor radio reception in my area. I also heard there are no adapters that connect to a CD, only to a cassette. That leaves a cassette as the only way to play my IPod Nano MP3 player in my car. My car is a 1999 Honda Civic, so it is not new and does not have up to date equipment. Which cassette adapter and model number is best for me, sounds good, is not hard to install, and is under $100?

Thanks for the reply. The Monster cassette adapter Model Al Cas - Adpt S you sent me the link for looks pretty good and is only $19.95. I looked at the Monster website (monstercable.com) and they also have another model cassette adapter called the ICAR Play Cassette 800 model AL 800 for $24.95. Do you think this model - the AL 800 - is better for me than the first model - the Adpts S?

  • Request: Provide Ethernet Bridging to NON-WDS Networks!!!

I realize that the topic I am adding here has been discussed quite a few times and also that many comments were made on the issue at least as often. What I am trying to understand is this:
Why did the initial design of the Airport Express turn off or not provide Ethernet bridging in client mode?
My brother gave me the AE as a gift over a year ago and just recently I got a wireless router and dsl modem (in one unit) and was able to install the AE for the following usage (which I consider reasonable and 100% compliant to what was written on the box):
    - stream airtunes to the stereo in the living room (ok)
    - get my playstation2 online using the ethernet port (no way)
Now that I have gone through hours of internet searching regarding WDS, I see that Apple has not intended the AE for this usage as it is only possible using Airport units. Don't get me wrong, but I am not going to go out and buy another base station in the form of any other Airport unit (especially after reading the other threads regarding their reliability!) just to get the funtionality of an Ethernet bridge.
Bridging requires little to no additional intelligence in the unit other than mirroring the network traffic it is hearing on the wireless side. And that is obviously available since the WDS configuration offers that. I am aware of technical details (I built up the internals of a wireless ethernet bridge in a Hiperlan/2 network over three years ago at a research facility) and want to know why this is not done by default?? The AE is heating my living room as it is and I consider this a reasonable request for a new firmware edition - those who don't use ethernet bridging wouldn't notice a difference and the AE would finally fulfil what is promised on the box.
Thanks for your time and perhaps persuasion in handling this issue - I hope my AE lasts long enough to experience this firmware edition if it ever gets out there.

  • Thunderbolt Ethernet bridge not recognised

I have an original Apple Thunderbolt Ethernet bridge (TEB) for my brand new MBP 13" retina Mid 2014 edition and I am running Yosemite 10.10.2. I connect to the internet via ethernet regularly to play online video games. I recently plugged in my TEB and found that it wasn't connecting me to the internet. I checked network preferences and tried to run diagnostics but in the network preferences it says there is nothing plugged into the Thunderbolt port. However, when I go to system information and under the hardware tab I selected Thunderbolt, with the TEB connected there is a little drop down menu named Thunderbolt bus and under it it says Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. If I remove the TEB, this drop down option is not there, which gives me the impression that the computer is recognising the TEB, but somehow something is wrong with the software that isn't allowing me to connect.
Further information before any of you suggest something simple because I've tried all the simple solutions
I went to the apple store with my TEB and asked them to check if it was working, they confirmed that there is nothing wrong.
I've also used a brand new ethernet cable, one that I know is working to connect to the modem. And obviously my internet is working because otherwise I wouldnt be writing this.
So if anyone knows what I can do to fix this problem please help!
I've used the app EtreCheck and here were the results, doesn't seem like anything is wrong

  • Apple TV as an Ethernet Bridge

I currently have an Airport Extreme (802.11g) router next to my cable modem. In the living room I have an Airport Express which is acting as a music streaming device, as well as an ethernet bridge for my xbox 360. I can't remember how I set it up, something about expanding my airport network. But the airport express shares the wireless internet connection over ethernet so the xbox 360 can access xbox live.
Anyway, I'd like to have my Apple TV do the same thing. I'd like to have my apple TV sync and access the internet wirelessly and share the internet connection over ethernet for the xbox 360 much like the Airport Express has been doing for a year.
    Is this possible?

Apple TV will not do that, it is not a router similar to the Extreme or the Express.

  • Can't get ethernet bridge to connect to network

    Hi
I am trying to connect my old iMac G3 (10.2) to my airport express network with an Aeropad Mini (an ethernet bridge powered by USB hub on my mac - made by Macsense).
The network is seen successfully by an iMac G5, an Intel Macbook and a PC. The connection occasionally works but more often than not it does not see my airport express - instead it connects to a self-assigned IP. Sometimes it connects then drops off halfway through. Other times it just will not connect at all.
There are no drivers and you set it up via your browser. I can connect to the status and set-up page (192.168.1.50), after entering all the Aeropad info manually, and most times it can see my Airport Express (via the Site Survey on the set-up pages). but sometimes it does not even get that far. I reset the aeropad and restart the mac many times, and sometimes it works but mostly it doesn't.
    I'm using channel 11 and it's WAP-encrypted.
    Things I've tried:
updating the firmware from the macsense website
    checking it's on client mode
manually entering the DNS address of my router - 10.0.1.1.
Trashing the internetconfig preferences from the library
making sure that ethernet is at the top of my network port configurations
Plugging it into a powered USB hub
Trying it on my MacBook (running Leopard).
Still can't connect - just a self-assigned IP - even on on the new macbook.
Any help would be appreciated as I really can't get this to work and it's beginning to take over my life!. I thought it was working after I entered the DNS address but it just went down again the next day.
    Thanks.

This is probably repeating the steps which you have taken already, but I thought I'd put them in one place just in case.
    Problem:
If you're able to see other wireless networks but not your own. (And it works with AppleTV version 1.x)
It can be any of the following:
    1. No wireless signal/out of range (check your multicast setting and put this as low as possible, check the range with other wireless devices/moving your appletv closer)
    2. The wireless SSID is set to invisible/private (use "Other" on AppleTV and enter the SSID manually.)
    3. The AppleTV doesn't support the channel used. (Tune the wireless to use a lower channel such as those under 10.)
    4. The AppleTV is not supporting the security of your encryption.
    Troubleshooting:
    1. First try setting up a basic wireless network with no security, no frills such as a high multicast rate or high channel number and as a basic wireless b or g network. Position the AppleTV next to the basestation and then attempt to make the appletv connect to it. (Do not use an AdHoc network with your mac, as the AppleTV doesn't see these.) At this stage you're just trying to see if the AppleTV is even able to connect to your hardware. If this doesn't work there is possibly a larger problem at hand.
    2. If this works, then move the devices to their desired locations. (This checks that it's not a range/interference issue.)
    3. If this is still working, then the problem lays in a configuration setting. Firstly enable a security protocol, avoid WEP. Keep adding settings, keeping changes from the default to a minimum.
If you can't get past step 1, then it could be an issue with your wifi base station. Try getting the AppleTV to connect to a different wireless basestation (perhaps borrow one from a friend or a neighbour's unsecured network.)

  • How do you determine the IP address of an ethernet bridge?

I've got a US Robotics ethernet bridge connected to a Mac running OS 10.3.9, and I'm trying to access the bridge's web browser interface. (Once I get to that interface, I'll be home free.)
The bridge does not have a default IP address, the connection software on its CD-ROM is PC-only, and USR tech support is baffled. So how can I find out its address?
I've tried looking in System Preferences -> Network, in System Profiler and in Network Utility, but it appears that they only display the computer's address, not the bridge's.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    iMac G3   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I presume you are taking about the USR5430?
No, it's the USR5432, which unfortunately doesn't have a default IP address (unlike the 5430). The USR site has this to say about connecting to the 5432:
    Macintosh and Linux Users
The networking device that the Bridge is connected to probably has some form of Web User Interface where you can view a client list. Refer to your networking device's documentation to determine how to view this information.
When you find the client list, locate the Bridge. You can do this by verifying the LAN MAC address that is on the bottom label of the Bridge and what appears in the client list. Write down the IP address of the Bridge for future reference.
Open a Web browser, type in the IP address of the Bridge, and then press Enter. This will open the Web User Interface of the Bridge.
The bridge only has an IP address when it is in
    configuration mode.
That makes sense. And I am in fact trying to locate the bridge's address in order to configure it.
Nevertheless, thank you for the suggestion.

  • Airport Express as an Ethernet Bridge....Can it be done?

I have both a Airport Extreme Base Station and a Express Base Station. I need to connect my TV to the internet (TV has no Wi-Fi, but is internet capable). Can I use my Express Base as an Ethernet Bridge? I already have both "Stations" on one network allowing me to play music from my computer through my home theater system and use the internet at the same time.

If you have the newer Airport Extreme with "n", not the flying saucer style, then you would probably be better off in the long run to buy the newer "n" version of the Airport Express.
That way your network would run faster overall then the older b/g series.
I sold all 3 of my older Airport Express units on eBay and replaced them with the newer "n' models.

  • Ethernet Bridge for Powerbook Titanium G4 instead of Airport

I have a macintosh titanium G4 powerbook that can only take an airport card, not airport extreme. I decided instead that I should buy a ethernet bridge. Can I buy a bridge that will access the internet at 54 kbps and then use an ethernet wire to my laptop? If so, will this give me 802.11g speed? Can anyone recomend such a bridge (e.g. linksys)? Thanks

Since you have a portable laptop (PowerBook), I would think a compatible 802.11g PCMCIA card would be the best solution.
    Let's take a step back...
802.11b is probably faster than your internet connection. Therefore changing to 802.11g won't give you faster internet access.
802.11g will only increase the speed of large file transfers between computers on your network.
