WRT610N wired 1Gbits drop to 100Mbits after a while

I start my computer running XP SP2 and the router wired port 1 (the only wired) show connected green (this mean 1Gbits until they fix it) and all seems fine. After an hour or two I see a message near the time about network diconnect then reconnect then diconnect, etc for abour 7-8 times in a row then it reconnect at 100Mbits (LED is now blue). This is the second time it happen now. My computer is usually running 24hrs a day but I've restarted it twice this week. I don't care for the speed loss because I don't need higher than 100Mbits but there is a problem there and I think LinkSys should take a look. Network card is an Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller

Well, after a HD crash I installed a fresh copy of the OS and then went into WindowsUpdate and found that there was a newer driver for the network card. I guess it was there before but never really looked at it and now the new OS install forced me to look at all the available updates.
Since then the light stays green on the router. I know Blue should be 1Gbits and is a flaw in the current firmware and why LinkSys is not faster to give us a new firmware so their instructions booklet infos will match the reality, is a mystery. Just like the firmware they are testing for months now to solve some disconnect problems. Never thought Cisco could be THAT slow.
Anyway I wanted to report my findings and tag this thread solved so if anyone else come accross the same problem they could possibly fnid a solution.

I have no idea what the "freezer fix" is, nor why anyone would think temporary exposure to cold will somehow fix a hardware issue with a 100% solid state device. Also, actually freezing your iPhone may very well itself cause damage.
If you dropped it and wifi immediately failed to work, the odds are you inflicted physical damage to it - perhaps the antennae connection internally. You could try a simple reset and see if that helps, but if not, you need to take it into Apple for an evaluation and diagnosis.
If it has internal damage, since you dropped it, your warranty no longer applies. Apple does not repair iOS devices, the merely swap them for factory refurbished units (and send your damaged one back to the manufacturer in China for refurbishment or recycling). You would ahve to pay the out of warranty replacement fee (look on your country's Apple web site, under support for the iPhone for fees).

My i Phone 4s has suddenly started to drop wifi connection after nealy months of near perfect connections?
To restore a wifi connection I have to reset the network settings and restart the phone, this only fixes the issues for around 2-3 mins?
Other quick fixes like switching wifi on and off/ switching to airoplane mode for a few secconds have no impact.
This is really annoying as I am using my data allowence very quickly, and as the phone is continually searching for a wifi connection the battery time has reduced dramatically.
I just wondered if any one else has the same issue, and any suggestions as to how I can fix this.

Time Machine backup on MBA 13" drop connection after a while

Since a while ago, possibly 10.6.7 patch, my MBA has had problems maintaining a wireless connection both to my TC and to an Airport Express that I have, especially when left unattended for 10' or so. My Iphone 4 and a Vista PC on the same network never had a similar problem.
Genius Bar folks ran hardware tests which showed nothing, then suggested a clean install and app migration (without network settings) which I did. For a day or so my MBA then starting to behave well.
Since yesterday, when I reinstalled 10.6.7, my MBA doesn't drop the connection, but has another problem. It won't finish its wireless Time Machine backup (3.6GB). Sometimes it can't find the TC disk, others it can. Then it goes ok for a while, even sometimes 2/3 of the way and then drops the internet connection and the connection to TC, but the Airport binding to the TC still shows as active on the MBA menubar. If I turn the Airport interface off and back on again on the MBA, eventually after a while it might find the wireless network again.
The only other internet-related app running in the background is Skype 5.1.0.914 (latest). Also, TC network channel is not shared with any other wireless close by.
I strongly believe this is a problem with the latest OS X patch (10.6.7) and MBA/TC combination. Even while it backups ok, it seems that the backup speed is low, which points to some conflict.
Do other people have the same or a similar issue? Can Apple Support chime in, since Genius Bar suggestion didn't do much for me?

Update:
Stopping Skype allows backups to run faster and complete normally. In fact Time Machine has never been that fast for me..
Seems the problem is gone, hopefully this might also help others.

Ending drop cap styling after a paragraph return

I’m working back in the dark ages of CS4 and I’m having an issue with drop caps and my workflow in the office. I have a drop-cap applied to the first paragraph via the Paragraph Style and I have apply next style active. When editors go into the text box and add a new paragraph, mid way through the existing first paragraph, the newly created paragraph had the drop cap applied. How do I get InDesign to deactivate the drop cap command after the first word or first sentence so this will not happen.

You'll just have to apply a new paragraph style to the new paragraph.
The Next Style doesn't apply here, because there's text after the cursor
where you split the paragraph.
So just apply a new paragraph style that doesn't have a drop cap --
verty quick if you use a keyboard shortcut for it.

Hi - my mac mini drops the internet after 30 seconds. If i reset in the diagnosics it works again but then drops it just the same. Its connected to my home network. All other apple devices are fine?

I have a home network which services:
Apple TV
Air port express
Mac book pro
I phone
All the above wrok perfectly.
I have a mac Mini which will join the network and operates fine but keeps dropping the internet after 30 secods of connection?
If I reset everything in the diagnostics box it will rejoin the network but then drops it again !!!
any ideas?

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

Mac's drop network sharing after a bit

I have an imac and a Macbook Pro but after a while which ever one i'm not using at that moment seems to loose connection with the other and I get a pop up telling me to ignore or disconnect. Everything was fine until I upgraded my norton antivirus 11, could that have anything to do with it? This is frustrating as sometimes I'm using files from the other computer and need to get or send files back and forth. Thanks!

To reconnect to a Mac, use Go > Connect to Server--afp://IpAddress. Afterward it is likely to appear in shared for at least awhile.

Pages for the iPad and Pages for a Mac are completely different, so you have to purchase them twice, one for the iPad and another one for the Mac. The only advantage is that, if you buy another iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you will be able to install Pages for free on all of them.
As you are running Mac OS X 10.6.8 on the MacBook, you can't purchase Pages from the App Store, so you have to buy iWork '09 on a DVD on Amazon or eBay in order to install it

If you see clearly after refresh your DB size stat, you should see PSAPSR3701 is empty OR with very small size compare to PSAPSR3702.
Therefore, you should drop PSAPSR3701 and NOT PSAPSR3702. You can confirm by ensuring no entry for PSAPSR3701 in table TAORA & IAORA.

I have the same problem. I have a white macbook 2010, with mavericks os. I just found my mac not powering on and then I tried to run it on safe mode by holding the shift button but it will turn off seconds after I let go of the shift button. I am able to access the desktop and use it while holding the shift button the whole time. It's a bit slower than before but I figured maybe it's because of holding down shift button.
I went to the Apple Store to have them look at my mac and I was told it's a failed hard disk. I wasn't told why he was able to conclude that a failed hard disk is causing the problem, I was just told to get a replacement. But the thing is when I ran Disk Utility it says, "disk appears to be okay." So I also feel like it's possible it's not a hard disk issue because it's also the first time it happened. My mac was working perfectly fine before all this.
Do you know anything else that could cause this problem? Were you able to find out what's wrong?

JCoRfcProvider: connection lost after a while

I have created a couple of EJBs and propagated them using JCoRfcProvider to an ABAP system, so that the backend can reach them. But after a while the backend looses the connection to the JCO server process: "program XXX not registered". After a restart of the RFC destination using Visual Admin everything is fine again. It seems that the connection between the systems is closed when it is idle for some time.
The <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/2c/760e4248fc5133e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">documentation</a> says:
If an RFC connection is interrupted or terminated, the JCo server automatically
registers itself again on the same SAP gateway under the same program ID.
Obviously, this automatic restart is not working, as the connection stays disabled once it has failed.
Is there a parameter I missed? Is this a JCO bug? How can I get this thing stable?

I then close out of steam and the server and find I have lost my internet connection. I can not visit any websites, I can not do anything in steam, I cant log onto aim, xfire or anything.
Now my local connections dont say "Connection lost" like they do when the router is shut off or if I lose the actual connection.
The only way it seems I can get my connection back is by unplugging the router, waiting 20s and plugging it back in. Then I have to wait about 5 more mins and it will just all of a sudden work.
Does anyone have an idea of what is happening? Is it the router? My antivirus/firewall?
