WRTP54G Performance Poor

I recently began having trouble with the performance of my wireless WRTP54G router. When it is  connected to my desktop, through the router, it is extremely slow. When I am connecting through my wirelesss (Macbook), it is slow and intermittent. Often times the signal is low. I am constantly having to reset the router, which helps with the Macbook, but the desktop remains slow. When the desktop is plugged directly into the modem, it runs perfectly fine.
I downloaded the file from the website, but I am unsure as to what to do next, in order to trouble shoot this further. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This sounds to be a firmware problem, you need to upgrade your router's firmware...Firmware should be Upgraded by your VOIP Providor as there is no Upgrade option on the router's web interface...

InDesign CC is performing poorly, slowly when working with text. I tried updating and it seems like everything installed except for Extension Manager 6.0.7 which failed to instal. Any fix for this?

Thanks, I think the problem is solved. Previously, the CC Extension Manager failed to install when I did an update via the InDesign Help menu. InDesign CC updated successfully, however, InDesign was still acting wonky. Since downloading a new full CC Extension Manager a little while ago, InDesign seems to be working better. Is there a correlation between the two apps for future reference?

  • HT1515 I'm getting poor performance from my apple TV, will plugging in my airport express via ethernet to apple tv increase its performance (poor wi-fi signal)

I'm getting poor performance from my apple TV, will plugging in my airport express via ethernet to apple tv increase its performance (poor wi-fi signal)

Yes, though it is less ideal than what I suggested earlier. You would need to place your AirPort Express in a location approximately midway between your AirPort Extreme Base Station and the TV. Then, using AirPort Utility, configure it to "extend a wireless network".
It may help. Bear in mind the signal thus "extended" by the Express can only be as good as the signal it can receive from the Extreme. That is the reason for selecting its appoximate midway location.
    Read about it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4145
Scroll down to "Wirelessly Extended Network (802.11n)" for a picture.
This solution requires an all-Apple wireless network. No third party stuff.
You mentioned using Ethernet. That would be a better idea. Scroll down to "Roaming Network (Ethernet-connected Wi-Fi base stations)" for a picture. In your case, the longer the Ethernet cable - hence the closer you can move the Express to the TV - the better

  • Low ping yet online gaming performs poorly

This has always been an issue with my BT ADSL connection. On paper it looks perfect for gaming; a solid ~23ms ping to UK servers (FastPath) with practically no jitter, a constant 4.5/0.25 mbps throughput yet online gaming (Xbox Live) shows way more lag than the ping figures would suggest, it's pretty poor.
Any suggestions as to why this could be? It's as if either my hardware (HomeHub4) or BTs network has a very low priority for gaming traffic (I game mainly during peak hours, as do most people I expect)
I'm currently testing a non BT router to see if the issue lies with the Home Hub. It's definitely looking better so far gaming wise (will need to test more though) but actual web browsing is noticeably slower with the same speedtest/ping results!?
All other hardware is removed from the network, cable to the Xbox has been swapped. Gaming performance is my primary concern and the BT connection is almost putting a stop my enjoyment of online play.
My exhange is Infinitiy enabled but my cabinet not and seemingly no way to find out when it will be.

The current BT homehub which is Homehub3 is a very poor router in my opinion but I dont have any issues with online gaming when my connection works correctly.
Can you go to http://speedtester.bt.com/ and do a speed test
    Also go http://192.168.1.254
then go to settings, advanced, broadband then connection and copy and paste the ADSL connection information here.

  • Browser Get Mime Files Performance Poor

    Hi all,
I have a J2ee application running in the SAP J2EE AS 6.40, and performance of this application is poor. The application access in various moments a database, configuration files, create more awt objects. This application modify some static html files, inserting new line-codes. Until this moment the application running very fast. When these html pages (in browser) try to download of some mimes (Javascript and stylesheets files) it is that the performance problem occurs. Browser delay about 15 seconds receiving some from these files (we see this from
logs generated by the application). We made a test requesting the direct URL of these files in browser, and really they delay to be downloaded. I deploy this application in other SAP J2EE AS, and this application performance its OK.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Yuri Fiori de Almeida

I solved my problem. Thanks for all.

  • Performance Poor for defineColumnType

    Hi,
Does anyone know why the performance is so poor for defineColumnType?
I noticed the CPU performance go way up (up to 35% utilization).
I am using it in a OraclePrepareStatement and calling the defineColumnType every time I use the PreparedStatement. Should it only be called once but the statement used many times?
    Thanks.

    Anthony,
For what it's worth, I also noticed that using the "defineColumnType()" method actually degraded the performance (contrary to what is mentioned in Oracle's "JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference").
But then again, like you say, perhaps I was using it incorrectly?
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • New ipad mini with retina display 128gb performance poor

i just bought my new ipad mini with retina display 128gb, but i after i tried to run in for some apps, i found out the performance is very poor, and i just wondering izzit im the only one who had this problem which i get the lousy ipad mini or every one else who bought the ipad mini 2 got this problem?? My game apps list like below. the game will lag 1 second sometimes: anomaly 1, anomaly korea, minigore 2. And when i run anomaly 2, it's lag like the old device >_< (p/s when i run anomaly 2 on my ipad 2, it run smooth than my ipad mini 2 ) so izzit other got the problem like me?

Well I don't think is the app problem, since yesterday I already called my country apple customer centre, they told me to reset all setting for my device, the problem is then solve, my anomaly 2 not even lag anymore, and they call me observe 24 hours see how the device work. At first the device work well and no lag anymore for my other game and anomaly 2 too, but after a night, this morning when I wake up, the problem is occurring again, my anomaly 2 is lag as before >_< so I make a call and they call me to restore factory setting, then after restore, the problem solve again , but still I had to observe few more days, if same thing happen again, then they will call me send back my ipad to give them double check and if the device got problem , they promised me will exchange the new one for me ~ will keep update see how after a few day~

  • Sandboxed apps perform poorly

Apps now sandboxed -- e.g., iPhoto and Mail -- perform very poorly compared to previously (Snow Leopard).  iPhoto for example takes 5-7 seconds at launch while the gear spins, and an equal amount of time at Quit. Mail always seems a couple of seconds behind my clicks.
Both apps were near instantaneous under Snow Leopard.
I assume this is due to being sandboxed into a container file.
    Any suggestions to improve performance?
System 1: Mini 2010 with 2 x 500 GB drives at 7200 RMP, Raid 0 striped into one volume
System 2: MacBook Air 2011 with 256 GB SSD
    John

You could be running into memory problems -- at least, that's what it usually us when this sort of thing happens to me. I typically leave my machine on and logged in all the time, just letting it sleep when I haven't used it for a while. I also tend to leave Safari and Mail open at all times. I've noticed that sometimes, my machine will slow down, and at those times, Activity Monitor reports that there's no free memory. Safari is usually the culprit, hogging all available memory for itself. I imagine it must have some sort of memory leak, which means it is failing to properly release memory that it is no longer using, resulting in a constant escalation of memory usage. Quitting Safari and relaunching it fixes the problem.
Check Activity Monitor. If the pie chart has very little green, this is probably your problem. Sort the list by Virtual Memory, and you should see the culprit at the top. Right now, I see that Safari on my system is using up 1.27 GB of virtual memory, leaving me with a teeny wedge of green on the pie. Guess it's about time for me to quit Safari!

  • Flash video performance poor in Firefox 3 and other newer Gecko-based browsers; fails to detect mouse movement in full-s

Regardless of configuration, I have found Flash video
performance on Firefox 3 to be severely sub-par. Numerous visual
lags occur throughout a typical Youtube video as it cannot seem to
manage to maintain a steady frame rate. When in full-screen, mouse
movement is not detected, forcing me to click in a full-screen
Vimeo video in order to display its controls when I should have
only needed to move the mouse. I was informed that the technical
explanation for this is that Flash isn't triggering MouseEvents
    other than MouseEVENT.CLICK.
In my tests, this behavior also occurred in Flashplayers 9
and 10 as well as with recent versions of other browsers that also
use the Gecko rendering engine, namely Camino, Flock and Songbird,
but not in Firefox 2. I was told by a Mozilla employee that this
issue can only be solved by Adobe.
This has forced me to use the Safari browser as my only
available work-around. I implore that these issues get resolved as
    quickly as possible.

guys, im exactly experience the same issue here.. any
    solution guys? tks in advantage..

    Using 10.2.0.2.0
Every once in a while I see CBO deciding to use VIEW type join even when there is no view in the SQL and whenever it does that the performance just sucks.

The whole schema was analyzed using dbms.stats only yesterday. My question is why is Oracle doing VIEW, and how can I stop it from doing that. Hint is not an option.

I understand that SQL Developer takes it's NLS settings from Preferences - Database - NLS Parameters. What I was not aware of is that when SQL Developer is run for the first time the NLS Parameters seem to be populated from the settings on the OS of the PC it is running on. To test that this was the case I did the following
I work on a Windows XP system with Regional Options - Standards and Formats and Regional Options - Location set with English (United Kingdom) and United Kingdom respectively.
I unzipped two clean SQL Developer instances (both Version 1.2.1). The first instance I first ran under my current PC set up without importing settings from a previous installation. The Preferences - Database - NLS Parameters - Language and Preferences - Database - NLS Parameters - Territory had been populated with English and United Kingdom.
I then changed the Regional Options on the OS to English (United States) and United States and ran the second instance of SQL Developer for the first time, again without importing settings. In this instance of SQL Developer the NLS Parameters were populated with American and America.
When the first instance of SQL Developer was the checked under these OS settings the NLS Parameters were still English and United Kingdom.
I was not aware this was the case and, if my test is correct, it seems to contradict the SQL Developer user guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10405_01/doc/appdev.120/e10406/intro.htm#CHDBHCAG

  • A1283 Mac Mini second HDD performance poor?

    Hi,
I'm using a A1283 Mac Mini (the last type before the unibody model) to play audio in a theatre show. I've replaced the internal optical drive with a 500GB 7200RPM SATA drive on which all the audio files are located. I'm hearing audio breakup which suggests that audio is not being provided from disk fast enough, although there are no console errors to suggest problems. At most of there are around 14 stereo audio files (24bit, 44.1k) in use; not a particularly heavy load.
Is there a difference in performance between the 'upper' (ex-optical drive bay) and 'lower' (factory HDD) drive bays in the Mac Mini? Do I need to make any OS changes to make full performance use of the second HDD?
Some additional details: 8GB RAM, OS X 10.6.2. The audio app is QLab v2.3.5, and audio is routed through an RME FireFace800 (firmware v2.77) using v2.9.3 driver.
    Many thanks,
    Matt

    Hi dschnepp,
Thanks for the pointer. I looked at the negotiated link speed on System Profiler. However even allowing for slow interface speeds I'm still confused:
SATA I rates at 1.5Gbit/s, which is (very) roughly 187MByte/s transfer rate. I'm playing a maximum of 14 audio files which are all stereo 24bit 44.1k. I calculate that to need about 3.7MByte/s transfer, ie a factor of 50 less than SATA I's transfer rate!

  • App-V - "Excel & ESSBase Plugin" perform poorly

    Hi,
    using App-V 5.0 sp3 client for RDS 2012 R2.
*Excel 2007 & ESSBase Add-in sequenced into a connection Group
*Standalone Mode/ Normal mode so no streaming server
*The App-V client UI (or PoSh commandlet) is showing package is fully loaded in local cache
*when I run Excel v-App, Excel Plugin "ESSBase" is registered fine
I can open large .xls files with no issue
The performance issue escalated by a user is when loading a .xlsm calc sheet
and starting a data retrieval from ESSBase database server
    - the operation takes around 2min 50
    - compared to a "native setup" where Excel & ESSBase are installed locally, the same operation takes 30 seconds
TCPView.exe shows that starting the action throws tons of new network connections to the ESSBase database server
    Procmon.exe filtered on Excel.exe shows :
    - that compared to a native install, the App-V setup has tons more result="Path Not Found" or "Name Not Found"
TaskMgr shows that on the App-V setup, Excel.exe enters "Not Responding" time window many times during data retrieval
=> on Native setup, Excel.exe don't enter "Not Responding" status
The tests were made on two identical RDS Session Host 2012 r2 VMs, 4 GB, AMD Quad Core, 1Gb Ethernet
with as single load the Excel test
=> I would be surprised if this is a ressource bottleneck - Excel.exe uses max 90 Mo.
I'll do benchmark tests using dummy network traffic tests using
    measure-command powershell commandlet
from Inside App-V bubble & compare it to the results from outside the App-V bubble.
while I'm sure this shoundn't be a App-V limitation in itself, to be honest not knowing what to optimize
    is frustrating.
    Any help would be welcome,
    Thanks.
    MCTS Windows Server Virtualization, Configuration

    Fixed !
now the App-V app (Excel & ESSBase plugin) data load from the database server
has simply the same performance as in the Native Installation Environment or is even a bit faster...
The ‘guilty’ was : “COM Mode” setting witch was set up on the App-V package’s dynamic configuration
    XML file as in
Isolated Mode witch according to App-V: On COM Isolation and Interaction
meant that it is being Virtualized
    On – w/ GUID Spoofing
I deleted the App-V package & set that bit of code inside of the XML like below then
tested again – the result is now satisfying !
    <COM
    Mode="Off"><integratedcomattributes
    inprocessenabled="false" outofprocessenabled="true"><IntegratedCOMAttributes
    InProcessEnabled="false"
    OutOfProcessEnabled="true"/>
    </integratedcomattributes></COM>
I watched the below TechEd North America Event
Project Virtual Reality Check: Microsoft App-V 5.0 Performance, Tuning, and Optimization (App-V PTO)
it is briefly said that to troubleshoot execution performance issues,
    - check unnecessary Extention Points wich could slow execution
    - double check COM Mode setting as it could also horribly slow the App-V App user experience
See also the section Writing directly to Excel
where The scripting Guys explain two methods
& how COM is known to be horribly slow …
    sample powershell code snippets from
PowerShell and Excel: Fast, Safe, and Reliable
to inject cells & generate and Excel file…
This was not easy to find as the majority of the documentation around ‘performance tweaks’ for App-V was leading to the Streaming or Package Publishing process optimization wich was not my case – I was more interested
about optimizing a process started during the package’s execution when it was already fully cached locally.
    Thanks.

  • Macbook pro performing poorly

    I'm running 10.9 Mavericks.
The other day as I was doing my every day activites I realized randomly my macbook pro began preforming extremely poorly.
    My problems:
Boot time now takes 2-3 minutes.
Applications take 2-3 minutes to open.
Applications will say they're open sometimes but will not display.
Applications will take several tries to quit.
Applications, especially Safari, will randomly crash.
Everything is slower and takes a while to do, even opening a simple folder will take a minute.
    The things I have tried:
I ran a Hardware test and the results showed it is not a hardware problem.
I have reset the SMC and PRAM and the problems still occur.
I have Verified and repaired the Disk/Permissions, however it seems to stop mid-way through (after about an hour).
I have replaced my HDD as I thought it was failing, bought a brand new SSD and installed a clean version of Mavericks. It did not help.
I have an appointment with a "genius" at the apple bar tomorrow as my laptop is still under warranty, but would like to figure out what's wrong before I go.
I assume it HAS to be a hardware problem as it has transfered from my HDD to a clean install on a brand new SSD.
Another question I had is if Apple usually handles these things quickly? I need my laptop for my upcoming finals as I'm a computer science major.

  • Ge620dx running hot and performing poorly

    Hi!
I bought a msi gx520dx i7 a year ago. It performs allright the first 3 minutes of a game when its cold, but very after a few minutes the core temperature is around 95-99. This also happens in games as Leage of Legends and World of tanks with settings on the very lowest. I have tried buying a cooling pad, without any greater effect. Is it just the way it is meant to be, or can i do something? should i send it to repair? Bear in mind it has done this from the start.

The thermal paste might be badly applied and/or of bad quality what can cause issues like that. If you know your way around taking a notebook apart and back together reapplying fresh thermal paste would be a good start. If not it has to be send to repair.
