  • WRV200 firmware version

I'm a bit confused. There are two firmware versions available:
    Firmware Date: 9/11/2006
    Firmware Release Version: 1.0.20
    Firmware Date: 5/11/2006
Firmware Release Version: 1.06 (Setup Wizard)
Wchich one is the best one?
I had 1.0.14 EU fimware version installed, when I bought the router.

    Thank you.
But, I have another question. I had a few problems with the automatical time setting. The online help agent asked me to load other version of firmware. It was 1.0.12 available on the UK support page. The problem remained, but a new question emerged.
Are there two current version of the firmware? Or, perhaps there are more of them?
Also, I believe the current router software has a bug related to the automatical time adjustment. The setting "(GMT+01:00) Sarajevo, Skopje, Warsaw, Zagreb" is resulting with a time being one hour behind the current local Warsaw time. When the setting is set to other zones like: "(GMT+01:00) Brussels, Copenhagen, Madrid, Paris" the time is set correctly. Also "Automatically adjust clock for daylight savings changes" option does not work for Warsaw, while it works for Brussels.

  • NMAP Eats Right Through WRV200

    nmap -v -PN -r -p1-65535 -T aggressive [WRV200 IP ADDRESS]
This nmap 4.68 scan against all 65,535 TCP ports on a WRV200 (Firmware Version: 1.0.39) device produced the following results:
    Not shown: 65530 closed ports
    PORT STATE SERVICE
    80/tcp filtered http
    443/tcp open https
    8480/tcp filtered unknown
    8888/tcp filtered sun-answerbook
    60443/tcp open unknown
This is a cause for concern. It is my understanding that we seek most ports to be "filtered" and not "closed."
A filtered port means the packet is dropped by the firewall device and that no response was received from the target host (in this case the target host is the WRV200). A closed port indicates that a response was received from the host reporting there is no service available on that port.
I did have port 80 and 8480 forwarded at one point. After "unforwarding" them they entered the filtered state.
Ports 443 and 60443 both appear to be running HTTPS for the remote administration interface. Attempting to connect to these through a web browser is successful - but only an empty HTML document is presented. These should most certainly be filtered if remote administration is not enabled.
It's good that port 8888 is filtered. However, I have absolutely no idea why port 8888 is not closed like the rest of the 65530 ports.
Does anyone have any insight as to why the WRV200 behaves this way?

    Rick, this is correct.
If your modem is issuing a 192.168.1.x IP and your modem is 192.168.1.1 it means it has a route function providing a NAT. The WRV200 has 2 distinctive ports, the internet port and the ethernet ports. In the end it means if your WRV200 LAN subnet is 192.168.1.x, the traffic out the WAN can't route because it already hit the destination network (itself).
So the first step would be to change the WRV200 to 192.168.2.1 (192.168.2.x subnet), request will then NAT to 192.168.1.1 then your modem will turn the 192.168.1.x subnet in to your public WAN for internet.

  • WRV200 not passing VPN

I have setup for a customer a WRV200 and they have one subtenant that needs to connect to her corporate office via Cisco VPN, but the router is not allowing her to do so and gives a connection error both the primary connection and secondary.  I have even opened port triggering to see if that helps and no go.  Please let me know why it's not doing the VPN Pass-through.  Thanks
P.S. Will be providing screen shot of error once I receive it.

    Hi Scott,
As a first step, verify you have the latest release of code on the WRV200,  Firmware version 1.0.39 ?
You can check this by viewing the top right side of the management GUI  within the WRV200.
Dumb question maybe, but have you also enabled  IPSec passthru on the router.
Has she 'enabled transparent tunneling' on her client
If your answer is yes, you better have a chat to the folks the Small business TAC (S-TAC).   Contact Link to this new Small business support center is below.

  • Ping Flood - is this a security risk?

In my Administration Security log file I have entries I do not understand.  Can anyone tell me what they might mean?
SYN Flood - this is appearing one to three times a week for the last two months.
    LAN-side Ping Flood
IP packet w/MC or BC SRC addr - this appears about as often as Flood

I see this happening on my WRV200 Firmware Version: 1.0.32.2.
I run a tcpdump from linux and I see the router ping flooding the network. I have copy a small dump from what I see. The routers last restart was between 24 -> 48. The longer the router has been running the more ID start repeating.

  • Flash Firmware WRV200

After flashing the latest version of the firmware for the WRV200 (1.0.39) all of the pages on the web based admin tool are not working, and some are missing alltogether.
I need to be able to re-flash the firmware to an earlier version (or attempt to re-flash this version) without using the web-based admin tool, as the page for doing the flash is one of the one's that is missing. Re-setting it doesn't help.
Can anyone point me to simple instructions for this? I have tried searching here and through Google without any luck so far. The WRV200 works fine, but obviously is not locked down from a security standpoint, which is a large problem.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Todd,
That Wireless Router with VPN 200 router has been superseded with the WRV210,  ok not new news.
Is the WRV200  just having a problem with a modern browsers ?  Remember some of the modern browsers weren't around when this product was first developed
As a first step, what happens if you use and older version of Internet explorer to access the router. (maybe IE version 6)
As a second step, you might try something like  http://192.168.X.1//AdminUpgrade.htm   (substituting x for the real network address)
I haven't tried this as my WRV200, but i believe this is the URL to bring up a firmware upgrade prompt.  Still don't know if this will work,  and it's still under three year warranty try calling the local Small Business Support Center  via the URL below.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/support/tsd_cisco_small_business_support_center_contacts.html
I'll also keenly wait to see other responses you get to your issue.
    regards

  • The firmware download for the WRV200 is not setup correctly.

I get the image file. The file downloaded is called "WRV200_1.0.39.img". Is this the firmware upgrade? Shouldn't it be a zip file or an rmt file?

When downloading the firmware file from linksys, this file is ready to be used as is and does not need to be converted or opened.
Here is a set of instructions if you need it.

  • WRVS4400N firmware upgrade to 1.01.03, VPN no longer works

I recently upgraded to firmware version 1.01.03 for my WRVS4400N. I have been having several problems with IPSec tunnels on the previous firmware and was hoping this release would resolve those issues. To my surprise this firmware version seems to be much much worse. Now I cannot even connect my point-to-point ipsec tunnels at all. I'm using the exact same configuration I was using before (yes I restored from factory and recreated). Anybody else have this problem with this new firmware? I've about had it with Linksys and their horrible VPN solutions. Any help would be appreciated.
    Router 1: WRVS4400N
    Router 2: WRV200
    VPN Solution: IPSec
    Thanks

We experienced the exact same problem with two of our new WRVS4400N's. We foolishly upgrade the firmware before realizing that the documentation for this significant release had not been upgraded.  In the software business if the documentation isn['t done the software should never be released.  Not only does it frustrate the customers but it also stresses the support organzation.  Had we read the release notes we would have realized we should have 1.) backed up the settings (which would allow us to downgrade the firmware if we didn't like it - which is where we are now),  2.) reset the router to factory settings 3.) rebuild the settings from scratch.    Once we finally got help from India to do this we were ok - though the VPN tunnell does go down at least once or twice a day.  More frustrating though is our constant inability throughout the day to access websites (no problem pinging  websites).  Only way to resolve this is to reboot the router - again several times a day.  We are now committed to downgrading back to the original firmware.

  • WRV200 Web UI Inaccessible

Is the web UI crash still a known issue in Firmware version 1.0.32.2?
The web ui on my WRV200 intermittently becomes inaccessible.  It usually dies within a day or two, but sometimes it will stay up for a couple weeks. The router still responds to pings while in this state and everything else seems to work.  When the web ui dies, I have to power cycle the device to get it going again.
Is there a work around to regain access to the web UI remotely? I do not have physical access to the device at all times so power cycling is not a practical solution for me.
Thanks in advance for any information on this issue.

I do have the same Issue.
I don't think they support this product no more since the last firmware upgrade 2.0.0.11 and it is from Oct 2009. They don't give us any signs that they are working on a new version.
That router gave me so much trouble that I'm thinking about buying another model more specifically from another brand.
Good Luck and keep us posted if you have any answers
    Franck

  • WRV200 lockup worse with 1.0.39

The WRV200 would lock about every 24 hours. Flash to 1.0.39 and I will be lucky to get this thread out before it requires a power cycle.  The DHCP function seems to be part of the issue. One look at the table and it seems this part was damaged in the new firmware.  The column for system name has the DHCP lease expiration time. Also the table rarely updates. It clears on each reboot and will not update until the lease is up.
Quick VPN seems to be non functional on all my platforms now (WRV200 and the 4400N).
    Anyone else with these issues?

Do a hard reset on the router.

  • WRV200 + WebSTAR DPC2100 = Internet Connection lost?

    I have a Linksys WRV200 with firmware 1.0.38 (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9930/index.html)
The router is set to "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" to get ISP IP.
I also have a WebSTAR DPC2100 cable modem with an argentinian ISP called Fibertel (http://fibertel.com.ar/).
    More information about my modem:
    Tx: 41.7 dBmV
    Freq Tx: 28600 MHz
    Rx: -5.5 dBmV
    Freq Rx: 567000 MHz
    MER: 36.8 dB
Equipo: WebSTAR DPC2100 Series Cable Modem
Descripción: S-A WebSTAR DPC2100 Series DOCSIS Cable Modem Ethernet+USB <>
    Versión OS: "v2.0.2r1244-050506-CVA2"
I have computers connected to my router:
2 computers with Intel WLAN and LAN cards
1 computers with Broadcom WLAN and LAN cards
    So, my problems is this...
I'm trying to download a 1.5 GB file from MSDN Academic Alliance Software Center (http://www.e-academy.com/).
When I start the download, after more less an hour of download: the conection stops.
    No more download.
No more Internet on any computer connected.
Also, the router shows no IP address from my ISP.
To get back my Internet connection, I have to unplug from the power the modem and the router. Plug them back... and everything back to normal.
But, I don't have this problem when I'm only browsing the Internet.
So, this only happends when I'm downloading... from one peer (as the example) or from multiple peers (P2P).
This happens no matter I'm using WLAN or LAN conection.
Also, this doesn't happend if I connect a LAN cable directly to the modem.
    Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help!
