WRV200 Unable to set static default route

In my case i should use the wrv200 as a router with static routes.
A tried to set up a route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.254.
I did not get any error messages after clicking the "save changes" button, but it does not work and it can't be seen on the routing table.
I think that it is not a missing feature! That must be a bug!
Could anybody help me please?

I can not do that because the default gateway parameter belongs to the wan interface, which is connected with the router at the vineyard over vpn and has the ip 172.16.1.1 if I try to set here 192.168.1.254 it says:
"The gateway should be in the same subnet as the interface" or something like that with the same meaning.
I did not post but i use the firmware version 1.0.39

  • How to set the default route on a RVS4000 to point to a gateway in the LAN

    The dialog in the RVS4000 for static routes does not allow to set the default route to point to a gateway in the LAN. Clearly this is either a bug or a feature of the web-interface and not a restriction of the box, which runs some kind of linux. So my question is there a way around this problem rather then defining routes to n-class A networks to cover the internet? Like a terminal access to set the default route?

    Thanks for your reply. I did already the first part and it seems that I presumed wrongly that the RVS4000 can be used as a layer 3 switch, instead it is only a 1-port gateway. Not that there is a technical limitation from the hardware or the OS of the box. It does layer 3 routing e.g. for its VLAN's. The only point to stop it from having the capability which I expect from something called router is to set its default route to the right gateway independant which port might be connected. The reason why I want a LAN port pointing to the gateway and do not use the WAN port without firewall is of course the VLAN capability of the LAN ports. The idea of the RVS is to bundle two nets, including the one where the gateway is on, and send it to a WAP4410N box, which nicely makes them wireless with different SSID's. Actually I have two ports connetced to the core network, if I am forced to have only the WAN port connected to the core, due to this artificial limitation, I would have to reconfigure a bit. Therefore I try to find an easier solution setting the route by "hand".

  • Metrics when redistributing a static default route into EIGRP?

    I saw a network working with EIGRP and resdistributing a static default route into it. I did not find the "default metrics" to redistribute into EIGRP but the static default route works and is redistributed. My understanding was that everytime you redistribute into EIGRP you needed to specify the metrics. How come this network is working? Can someone explain or point to a cisco document what explains it?
    Sample of the config:
    router eigrp 1
    redistribute static
    no autosummary
    network Y.Y.Y.Y
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 X.X.X.X

    It's just one of those specific things about EIGRP and IOS, maybe a design choice. If they do use the interface as the seed metric then that would help explain why it's that way.
    Weirdly if you are using EIGRP VRF address family configuration on IOS and you redistribute statics you do need a metric.
    And I believe NXOS running on Nexus switches also needs a metric defined.
    Just one of those things you have to remember but it would be good if it was consistent.

    Could anybody give me any advise on injecting a static default route into vrf.
    The static route is to the internet, I can't enable vrf forwading on the fa interface as other users also use this internet connection.
    I am configuring a 7206 VXR 12.3(26) and have attached a copy of the config

    I think you have to specify the route as this
    ip route vrf delegate_wireless fa0/0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 194.154.168.1 global
    it tells the router to to use a next hop that is not part of the vrf.
    Also, don't forget that the return traffic has to be routed out to the vrf.
    Something like this.
    ip route a.b.c.d tu1 10.252.254.2

  • Unable to set Static IP in Wicd

    Wicd will get an IP just fine if I let it do DHCP. When I try and set my static IP it acts like its connecting and then just says not connected. The wicd .log has:
    Putting interface down
    Releasing DHCP leases...
    Setting false IP...
    Flushing the routing table...
    Putting interface up...
    Setting static IP : X.X.X.164
    Setting default gateway : X.X.X.1
    Connecting thread exiting.
    Sending connection attempt result Success
    X's to not show my IP. I entered the same information into the Properties tab that I would in windows or that I do in rc.conf and resolv.conf that lets me set a static ip without using wicd. There is 2 lines that I dont have that I have left blank and wondering it this is why its not working because I dont know what goes in them. DNS domain and Search domain(i have no idea what these 2 are looking for). I tried entering the server names for DNS 1 and 2 but that didnt work. I tried just ph.cox.net and cox.net in the DNS Domain field and that didnt work. So now im stumped and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

    Well that makes me feel better, I did leave them blank but it would not connect. I actually tried googles DNS in DNS 1 and 2 and received the same results as with my proper ISP's DNS.
    I did not try Global DNS Servers way that you described, I was entering in the information in the properties tab. I will go ahead and try this method.
    Im correct on my gateway, I run an ipcop box as my router and set everything in my house with static IP's so I have the DNS and gateway information correct.
    Thank you for your suggestion, ill go try that and see if it works.
    I am not sure if it matters but I am using wicd-gtk to set everything and not doing it through the terminal with just wicd or wicd curses.

  • Unable to set static IP to wireless printer Officejet 6600

    First sorry my poor english, still keep trying  We do have an HP Officjet 6600 Printer for about 6 months.This printer has USB and WLAN, but no LAN port. We used the printer until 2 weeks ago. At that time, **bleep** starts ...As long as we used the printer, he was connected via Automated WLAN (DHCP) and everything worked fine.The printer was connected to our WLAN Modem which assigned the DHCP IP Adress automatically.Then, our Internet provider updated our cable modem, which is also our WLAN router, and since that time, the printer does not work anymore. He always shows an error after booting, and told us to restart the printer, and all lamps of the printer are continously blinking. There is no way to access the printer menus on the printer.After a long and intensiv internet research, i found out that the cable modem is responsible for the printer error!It looks like the WLAN DHCP Server of the cable modem sends DHCP messages, which the printer cannot use correctly. If I shut down the modem (with the integrated WLAN router), the printer boots normal without an error, but I cannot use him becaused he is not connected to WLAN as because the modem is offline.So I wanted to set the printer to not use DHCP by assigning static IP to the printer. But this does not work! I tried 10 times or more to assign static IP, Subnet, Gateway and DNS-Server, no way, the printer always show "IP not set" (same for the others). Can anybody tell me why I'm not able to set static IP, Gateway etc. to the printer?!Thanks for every suggestion.

Since you now have a new cable modem, let's start with a more basic approach. Please use the following document for instruction to reset the printer to your new network settings: Connecting the Printer After Changing Your Wireless Network.  You may notice, when you open the link, that the full title mentions the Photosmart B209a, the instructions presented apply to your printer to so please don't be alarmed. I hope this helps.

  • Setting The Default Route in a Jumpstart Install with Multiple Interfaces

    I'm performing a Jumpstart install on a SPARC v240 server, which has multiple network interfaces. I'm trying to configure all of the interfaces as part of the Jumpstart setup. However, Jumpstart doesn't like the default route that I'm supplying. If I add the default_route parameter anywhere but under the first interface, Jumpstart complains that the default route is missing (by making me add it after it dumps out to the suninstall screens. If I add the default route under the first interface, Jumpstart dumps me to the suninstall screen which says that the route could not be added.
    What am I doing wrong ? Am I trying to get Jumpstart to do something that it won't do ?
    Here is my sysidcfg file. The file shown below will cause Jumpstart to dump to the suninstall screen, which will indicate that the route cannot be added:

    That sysidcfg seems a bit odd anyway, have you by any chance put the different interfaces of your jumpstart server into it? Normally you won't need to specify a default router since the jumpstart will figure it out anyway.. Does your jumpstart server have an interface on each network you want to jumpstart?

  • Unable to set the default sending account in Mail?

    I have three IMAP accounts set up in Mail and when I want to send an outgoing email can easily use the drop down to pick which account is used. The issue is I'd like to specify which of the three is used by default.  I've searched on how to do this and the supposed answers are not working for me.
    First, in Mail preferences, it's been posted you can drag the order of the accounts. That does not work for me at all, they are not draggable.
    Second, in System Preferences there's been some talk of setting defaults in the Mail, Contacts & Calendars panel. When I try to access one of the accounts there it asks me for the password, I enter the correct one, and it fails saying unable to verify the password.
    Can this be done at all? Is there a bug in System Preferences?

  • Unable to 'set the default source system' to Install Business Content

    Maars here. This is my first post hoping that in future ones I'll also be lending a helping hand.
    I am trying to 'Install Business Content' under the BUSINESS CONTENT section in txn RSA1. I am doing this after 'Transfer Data Sources' in R/3 and I can now see all the data sources (under the application component hierarchy) for the source system. But I am not able to see the Info Objects in the Business Content.
    When I try to set R/3 as the default source system (got this screen after clicking a icon in the standard tool bar), BW is not saving the settings ie., I set the R/3 as the default and then click on OK. If I go back to the same screen again, I find that my settings were NOT saved.
    Could you please help me out?

    It seems to be a bug in version 3.5.
    Do like this:
    After you open the screen to <i>choose the dafault source system</i>
    Clcik on 3rd button(F6) available in the bottom of the scrreen.
    And then select teh tick mark for required system.
    And then click on Continue button
    You have do this step before you drop the cube to right side of the cube.
    Ok, even after all these steps , if you reopen the screen you would not see Tick mark u have done just before. DONOT WORRY ABT it.
    Drag and drop required cube with dat flow before.
    Now you can see the Transfer rules with selected Source system only in the collected Objects.

  • Unable to set correct default text code

    To enable accented characters to display properly I need to use Western Latin 1 as the default. When I set this manually in "view" it works but although it is set as the default preference, it always reverts to something else when I open Safari.

    That seems to answer part of my problem. I am not
    sure how to provide an example but it occurs with
    MyYahoo in English, when part of the display is in
    French. I get the black diamonds with question marks.
    If I manually change to ISO Latin 1, the French text
    is correctly displayed. However, when I open Safari
    again, the sme problem reoccurs.
    This would seem to indicate that the MyYahoo English page has html forcing a different encoding than the French text. You can check what it is by doing View > View Source and looking for the "charset" in the first few lines. I suspect it may be UTF-8. Unless Yahoo lets you set the encoding of your page in its preferences somewhere, I do see anything you can do about it.

    When I have:
    eth0="eth0 192.168.1.73 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255"
    set in rc.conf at boot, I get no network.  I can't even ping machines on the LAN.  When I have
    eth0="dhcp"
    in rc.conf at boot, the network works fine.  What I can't figure out is why, if I boot with the dhcp line in rc.conf, then change that line to read
    eth0="eth0 192.168.1.73 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255"
    and execute
    /etc/rc.d/network restart
    the network works fine and I get what I want: a static IP.  How can I set it so I get my desired IP on boot?

    I am attempting to use IP SLA trackers to dynamically set the default route going out over a DSL connection.  if the sla trackers are down the default route learned from the WAN will take over, but normally we want to send internet/default route bound traffic out over the DSL connection.

    the issue we are having is if the SLA threshold is breached, it immediately sends the trackers into a delay down state.  the tracker delays down for 60 seconds, then very quickly comes back up.  What we want to accomplish is only if the sla tracker has breached the threshold or is down for 60 seconds, then put the tracker into a down state.

    The configuration seems to be correct: IP SLA change as soon as the icmp fail but the tracker delay should ensure the it changes its state after 60seconds of icmp failure. Do you experience a different behaviour ?
    What I'm worried about is that, after the default router through the WAN is in routing table,  the ip sla ping will be successful and therefore the static route 
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 71.32.39.46 track 3
    will be used but, at that point, which is the path to 71.32.39.46 ? 
    Another thing is that, in case of DSL link failure, this configuration will not automatically revert to WAN link because 71.32.39.46 will be still up and running, isn't it ?

  • WRVS4400N default route

    Hello!
    I bought a WRVS400N v2 to be used as an access point.
    Currently it is hooked up on my switch via a trunk port and is able to communicate with my gateway.
    Whenever I try to access an IP subnet other then the local IP address of the WRVS, I get a network unreachable error.
    To fix this for my local networks, I added the appropriate static route to cover my local LANs and that seems to work now.
    I tried to add route 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 using the web interface for internet access, but somehow it does not recognize this as a default route (quad zero!?).
    Does anybody know how I can set the default gateway in this router? Maybe, but hopefully not, I have to use the WAN port to create some kind of uplink and use one of the LAN ports to connect using the trunk port and route traffic for the clients over the WAN port :-)
    Hopefully someone knows how!

    Hi Rene, thank you for using our forum, my name is Johnnatan I am part of the Small business Support community. In this case is impossible to assign a default route to the router because the gateway address is the same as the router. This kind of devices doesn´t need to set a default route. You also have to keep in mind the router and gateway mode.
