WRV200 + WebSTAR DPC2100 = Internet Connection lost?

I have a Linksys WRV200 with firmware 1.0.38 (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9930/index.html)
The router is set to "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" to get ISP IP.
I also have a WebSTAR DPC2100 cable modem with an argentinian ISP called Fibertel (http://fibertel.com.ar/).
More information about my modem:
Tx: 41.7 dBmV
Freq Tx: 28600 MHz
Rx: -5.5 dBmV
Freq Rx: 567000 MHz
MER: 36.8 dB
Equipo: WebSTAR DPC2100 Series Cable Modem
Descripción: S-A WebSTAR DPC2100 Series DOCSIS Cable Modem Ethernet+USB <>
Versión OS: "v2.0.2r1244-050506-CVA2"
I have computers connected to my router:
2 computers with Intel WLAN and LAN cards
1 computers with Broadcom WLAN and LAN cards
So, my problems is this...
I'm trying to download a 1.5 GB file from MSDN Academic Alliance Software Center (http://www.e-academy.com/).
When I start the download, after more less an hour of download: the conection stops.
No more download.
No more Internet on any computer connected.
Also, the router shows no IP address from my ISP.
To get back my Internet connection, I have to unplug from the power the modem and the router. Plug them back... and everything back to normal.
But, I don't have this problem when I'm only browsing the Internet.
So, this only happends when I'm downloading... from one peer (as the example) or from multiple peers (P2P).
This happens no matter I'm using WLAN or LAN conection.
Also, this doesn't happend if I connect a LAN cable directly to the modem.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Internet connection lost using hughesnet modem and Airport in Time Capsule

I recently got Hughesnet which is the only available high speed internet at my home.
The problem I'm having is that my wireless connectivity is lost to all devices requiring me to unplug and plug back in my Airport...at which time I have internet again until it goes out again.
The problem does not appear to be an actual lost internet connection through my Hughesnet modem.
Any thoughts on how to fix this problem?  I have reset my Airport to factory settings and named it TCwireless for simplicity.

  • Internet Connect lost connection to ethernet

After installing 10.4.4, Internet Connect can't connect because it seems to have lost contact with my PCI ethernet card. It only shows Built-In ethernet which died awhile back. System Profiler knows the card is there is there. Both Network and Alltel say it is connected. Apparently Internet Connect is the culprit. Can I fix or get around it? HELP!
Everything else seems to work by the way.

  • Internet connection lost with EA6500 router

I'm using a fiber optic internet connection and a Linksys/Cisco EA6500 router, with unlimited internet plan. Usually (1 to 2 days), the internet connection is lost and the way to get it back is the radical way in IT: 1st: switch off the modem and the router and wait a couple of minutes; 2nd : switch on the modem and the router. I suspect that this very annoying problem is related to the router settings. Someone can help me in get over this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Nuno

With this type of scenario, this will show that a reset on the router is needed to stabilize the router’s performance. One isolation step that you can try is to connect the computer straight to the modem. In that way, you will be able to determine if the connection coming from the modem is stable. Another step that you can try is to adjust the router’s mtu size by using this link: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=efe3edfeced9436a9f13eeebc89f90c2_4031.xml&pid=80&r.... By doing so, the router’s intermittent internet connection problem can be resolved.  If in case that those steps will not improve the router’s internet connectivity, then you can consider returning and have that router replaced.

  • Internet connection lost with wired connection in hotel

I am in a NYC Hotel and was able to get an Internet connection on my MacBook (2 ghz intel core duo running 10.5.8) via the wifi network with extremely slow connection speed. They also offer Ethernet connection from the room so I tried that and got a very good connection upon restart. I was downloading content from the iTunes store and the connection was interrupted - Internet connection was lost. I tried redrafting again several times but to no avail. I went into network preferences and tried automatic location along with several others I have set up but cannot get it to re-connect. Built-in Ethernet is shown as connected and diagnostics shows Ethernet and network settings in green but ISP Internet and server are red. It configured using DHCP and IP address is 192.168.xx.xxx with subnet mask and router showing addresses as well. DNS Server is identical to IP address and Search Domains says "stayonline.net"
I have 2 other Ethernet connections showing on my locations that I believe are related to Parallels (some say Parallels Host-Guest & Parallels NAT and the others say Ethernet Adaptor (en2) & Ethernet Adaptor (en3)). I have tried making them inactive and re-starting but again to no avail. I don't know much about networking and just want to get my Internet connection working while I'm here. I am sending this from my iPhone and would appreciate any help you all can provide. Thanks,
    Allan

Sorry I meant restarting not redrafting (iPhone apparently doesn't like the word restart and changed it for me!)

  • Internet connection lost when the phone is used

Have had BT internet for well over a year with no problems, but over the last few days I have experienced problems with losing the internet connection.  I have now pinpointed it to the fact that as soon as the phone is used (receiving or making a call) the internet connection is lost.  Once the phone call is finished, it can take up to a minute before the internet connection comes back (ie. the Broadband sign on the hub is yellow while there is a problem, but after a minute or so after the call is finished it turns blue again).  Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?  There has been no recent changes to hardware or equipment that could be the cause of this.
    Thanks :-)

Probably a line fault, however you need to check that the fault is still present when you plug everything into the master socket, just to prove there is no problem on your internal wiring.

  • WiFi Internet connection lost after iMac wakes up, what to do ?

    Hi,
I used my iMac for a while with an older D-link product and Internet connection was fine. I purchased a new D-link product and whenever my iMac goes to sleep and wakes up again, I lose INternet connection although my airport icon still recognizes the network and says signal is at full strength. Apple Care can't help me.
I have a PC directly connected via wire to the same router and Internet connection is flawless so my ISP is not the problem. I use cable modem.
No it got worse. I start up my Mac, have connection but if I stay to long at the same webpage and then try another page, somehow it stalls!! Very frustrating. Anyone any ideas ?
    Thx&Rgds

Have you contacted the manufacturer to determine if the problem is with them?

  • Internet connection lost on Macbook Pro when PCs are connected.

Recently I running into very annoying problem, here it is:
I am using comcast cable internet, connected to Airport Extreme (802n) wan port via ethernet, I got 3 computers are using the same wireless network: one Macbook Pro and two PCs. If both PCs are off, I have no connection problems on Macbook Pro, but if either one of the PCs are on, the browsers on my Macbook Pro can't connect to internet, however, I can still receive emails on Macbook Pro. By the way, airport extreme are set to DHCP, all computers share one IP address. Airport extreme with most recent firmware 7.3.2 installed.
Any help are welcome and thank you in advance.

ddg57, Welcome to the discussion area!
By the way, airport extreme are set to DHCP, all computers share one IP address.
Each computer should have their own separate IP addresses. So I'm hoping that your statement above means:
    (1) The AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) uses DHCP to get an IP address from the ISP.
    (2) The AEBS is configured to share a single IP address (not bridging).
    (3) The computers are configured to get an IP address via DHCP (via wireless).

  • Network connection OK but Internet connection lost on laptop

I successfully installed 10.6 on my desktop first. Although I was connected to the network, I had no Internet connection. I fiddled around and did something that fixed the problem (not sure what). Then I installed on my laptop (family pack) and had the same problem: network connection OK, Internet connection not OK. Fiddled some more, but no joy. I've spent hours trying to get to the bottom of this, to no avail. Ran disk utility and network utility just for the heck of it. Anyone know what setting must have changed to knock off my lap top Internet connection? (I have Airport and WiFi through AT&T U-verse.)

In my case the DNS address is greyed out so I cannot select it. What worked for me - occasionally - is changing the Network location to 'Automatic'. I had it set on a custom setting. Unfortunately this is sporadic. It will start to display content then just stops. I can jump-start it by fiddling with location but not always. The Airport range seems to be reduced too but I think that is just the flakiness of the connection.

  • Internet connection lost while uploading pdf file !!!!

I'm using adobe reader XI, I'm noted that while i'm uploading pdf file, my internet connection will be disconnect. I have contacted adobe help desk team they only informed me to contact adobe forum. I have this issue for past week. Awaiting for your reply.

I had a very similar problem which I fixed like this:
    1) Move the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist to your Desktop.
    2) Reboot
Snow Leopard will rebuild this file from other info.
This sorted out all my won't connect/loses connection issues.

  • Internet connection lost when restarting the computer

    Hello everyone.
I live in Denmark, and 6 days ago I bought a new TOSHIBA pc: a Sattelite L855D-100. From the very start there has been a problem with the wireless internet connection. When I restart the pc, the internet connection is gone afterwards, and I am not able to re-establish the connection in any possible way. I have to shut down the pc - wait a few seconds - and then start the pc in 'normal' way. Then the wireless internet connection is okay.
But the problem is the same every time I restart the pc.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
I thank You in advance for Your help and advice.
    Best regards Svend in Copenhagen.

    Satellite L855D-100 (PSKAYE-003004DU) <- Netherlands version
A brand new computer should work right off the shelf, Svend.
I would restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media just once. And then return it for a new one if things are still not working right.
See the section System Recovery, which begins on p. 4-16 of the User's Manual (attached).

  • Internet connection lost in sleep mode

My internet connection dies when going into sleep mode. What can i do to fix this?

+My internet connection dies when going into sleep mode. What can i do to fix this?+
It's not broken. Don't put your computer to sleep manually and do change your Sleep settings on the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences. Your entire system can operate without interuption when "Put the display to sleep" is activated, so that time can be shortened while you lengthen the amount of time the computer will be awake to something more convenient - or set it to "never."

  • Internet Connection lost between AEBS and Mac through LAN

For the last year I have had no problems with my AEBS. I have it configured like this: My Modem is connected via ethernet cable to my AEBS and then out to my G3. I have no airport card in my G3. All of a sudden I get no outgoing signal from my AEBS to my laptops, nor can my G3 get an internet connection unless I plug the modem directly into the G3 and bypass the AEBS. I am frustrated beyond words and my teenagers are impossible to bear without their wireless connections. Ideas? Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Do you have a cable or DSL connection? If you have a DSL connection, you may need to reset your PPOE settings.

  • Internet Connection Lost Once 2nd Router Added to Network

I am at a point of complete loss and frustration and absolutely cannot figure this out.
About 4 months ago, I decided to add a 2nd router to my home network.  I have a large house and was having connection issues in certain spots.  My set up is:
Cable Modem ---(ethernet)--> Airport Extreme --(ethernet)--> Time Capsule
I have the network set up as a single network (Time Capsule extends the network).  I followed all the Apple instructions and everything set up with ease and worked flawlessly.  I was able to confirm that devices would switch from the Extreme to the Time Capsule depending on location.  It was wonderful.  Wifi bliss in my home!
Yesterday morning, I showed that I was connected to my wifi network but I could not get any data.  Airport Utility showed Green Lights next to my 2 devices but an Orange light next to "Internet" with a status of Disconnected.  I assumed it was an issue on my ISP side and went through a modem reboot and some other steps before confirming that I did in fact have an internet connection (hard wired ethernet from modem to MBP).  I went through the same steps as before (after restores through the Airport Utility menu) and my wifi network comes back when the Airport Extreme is connected but as soon as the Time Capsule is connected, the Airport Utility shows that I am disconnected from the internet and I have no data transfer.
After hours of soft resets, hard resets, and factory resets including changing the name of the network and resetting/unplugging the cable modem I became convinced that the Airport Extreme was the culprit (I bought it "new" open box on ebay).  So I bought a brand new Airport Extreme and the same thing happened.  I tried various configurations including taking the Time Capsule out of the equation and going Airport Extreme to Airport Extreme and absolutely nothing works.  Bottom line: Once I add a 2nd hard wired router to extend my network, I lose my connection to the internet and it says "Disconnected" at the top point of the Airport Utility.  When I have a single router connected, everything works fine (I am using it right now).
Does anyone have any idea what would be causing this?  I did not do any updates or anything odd.  I just woke up one morning and something that worked for 4 months flawlessly is completely impossible to use.

I figured out the issue and resolved the problem.  The Airport Extreme had WAN in from the Cable Modem and LAN out to the Time Capsule and to my DirecTV Home Cinema kit.  I re-set up everything with all unnecessary LAN connections disconnected and it worked.  I plug in the DirecTV LAN line and it all goes down again.  It looks like the DirecTV Cinema device was frozen and causing the issue.  Once I pulled the plug and rebooted it, everything went back online.
I have no idea why a frozen DirecTV Cinema device would cause this problem but it was definitely the culprit.  Now I have an extra Airport Extreme.  Sigh.

  • Internet connection lost after browsing the internet

Hi, I am fairly new to the mac world. (less than two years) And I have a problem that I was hoping someone can help me with.
I have a Power mac G5 dual processor, with Mac osx panther installed. Everything works great, except when I try to browse the internet. For some strange reason it will drop my connection and to bootm I also have a G5 server that I am connected to, but as soon as I lose my internet connection I also lose my connection to my server. Now I know it can't be the router since other computers keep their connection while mine drops randomly.
Our office has a basic setup, computers and server plugged into a switch, the switch goes to the 2wire (router/DSL combo) device. The firewall is within the 2wire and the server's and computers' firewall are disabled, since the 2wire has the firewall protection the whole subnet.
    Please help
    Thank you
    G5 Server   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I had this same issue on an Acer Aspire 5520 laptop with an atheros chipset for which I was using ndiswrapper. Long story short I downgraded to kernel 2.6.24 and that fixed the problem .
Sorry not much help...I have no idea where the culprit is, but it is a very annoying problem.
