WRV210 issues.

Hi guys.
About a week or so ago i bought a Cisco WRV210 and since then i've come accross a number of issues which resulted in spending about 2 hours trying to get it going again.
My first issue is this, whenever anyone in the house tries to use anything Bittorrent related periodically the router will reboot itself. It looks like the router cant cope with something one of the PCs on the network is recieving and reboots terminating the outside connection.
Secondly after one of the periodic reboots mentioned above the webinterface refused to load correctly and resembled a corrupt webpage. ie nothing would line up correctly, font changes and to see anything in the middle of the web browser you would have to scroll down to the bottom of the page. Also I wasn''t able to change any setting from the web interface or access things like the reboot function, i would press the button click save and nothing would happen. The only way i could get around this was to reflash the firmware which was accessable in the web interface and seemed to work and reset the router to default once this had done as full usability was restored. One thing i did notice though after completing this was that the mac address had changed from what it was previously (identical to the sticker under the unit) to 00 00 00 00 00 05.
The firmware version of the router is 2.0.1.5 the hardware version is WRV210-A V01
I will admit I have thought about trying to setup a log from the router, but i have no idea how to do this so in this respect any help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks for your time.
update : I have since found how to view the router's logs, after watching for 30 mins I haven't identified anything what i would consider out of the ordinary.

  • New wrv210 issues, wifi drops, reboots

I just purchased a couple of these routers. One for home and for some business clients. So far I have only setup one at home and am kind of disappointed. I can consistently make the wifi drop by clicking to different menu items in the web config gui. In these cases, my wifi clients drop and cannot reconnect, even though the my ssid is still being broadcast by the router, but all clients on the ethernet switch can still ping the router and access the internet. A reboot is required to allow wireless clients to associate. For example, last night my browser was refreshing on the System Performance page for about 20 minutes. I clicked onto Router status and all wifi clients drop. If there is no easy solution to this I will get more technical information (packet captures of 802.11 association, wpa handshakes, etc).
In other cases, using the web interface will cause the router to reboot. I have a syslog server setup (on ethernet) but it doesn't receive anything except for URL Detections and New Connections.
I have a pretty simple setup at home, one ssid, 802.11b/g, wpa2 personal (I've tried Personal Mixed, too). The router seems to be running the latest firmware (2.0.0.11) and a recent hw revision (WRTR-221G_V01).
I am heading to a client location to setup the 2nd wrv210 now. Are these known issues? Are there any solutions?

    Hi,
The guys at Cisco Small Biz Support are great and RMA'd that first router. So I received the replacement yesterday and set it up. It's performing a lot better than the last one, except I get random reboots/lockups. Firmware 2.0.0.11. The remote syslog seems to work though, so I gathered some evidence last night while I was out to dinner (so network activity was idle/light, 192.168.2.1 is the wrv210 IP):
    Mar 31 19:33:36 192.168.2.1 klogd: Packet type : 0 -- free socket buffer only

So a random restart while I wasn't home at 19:40 (PST), router restarts, boots, pppoe session starts (at&t adsl). I can see random iphones/wifi clients associating then the logs fill with:

and again about 50 mins later. This happened all night.
I can only guess that some buffer is filling up and causing a restart. The funny thing is this happens less often while the network is utilized. I'd like to help figure this problem out any way I can. I've done the factory reset and re-configured. I'm about to try that again.
I also disabled the DoS attack stuff because:
Mar 31 12:18:59 192.168.2.1 [DoS] [Detected UDP Land Attack] (UDP) Incomming Source:76.214.xxx:33445 Destination:76.214.xxx:51414 [Droped]
the router was getting some strange false positives (same src/dst IP, my wan interface). Also it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence that there are typo's in the firmware! "Incomming" and "Droped"
    Thanks in advance,
    Keith

  • WRV210 - Wireless Connectivity Issue

I have a wrv210 positioned at the end of a 4 building shopping center, in a room that is farthest away from our phone system.  There is a chance that the phones operate in the 2.4 ghz frequency.  My question is, could the phones cause wireless computers to lose internet and network connectivity while showing connected to the network?  Even if I take a laptop into the room with the router, it loses connectivity after about 20-30 minutes of use and the cordless phones are not even close to the room...they are about 50 feet away.  I have previously asked about this problem, as the only remedy has been to repair wireless connection in windows but need a better solution because we are using applications that rely on wireless connectivity to function properly.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
Ia using Network authentication as WPA2-Enterprise and Encryption type is AES.With this settings clients are not able to connect. It says wireless adapter is not connected.
Wanted to know any patch to be applied in windows vista to support WPA2.
    Thanks & Regds,

  • Cisco WRV210 vpn troubles + firmware mismatch?

Have a customer with 3xWRV210 routers VPN'd in a hub & spoke design. We are frequently having issues with the vpn where they seems to stall -- the VPN Summary screen says 'C'onnected, but data will not pass over the tunnel. The solution is to restart the hub VPN router, wait 1 minute, and restart the spoke branch office routers.
This VPN is to support an Avaya VoIP system, and is causing much frustration for the end users when they can no longer recieve telephone calls!
We have been over the setup dozens of times, replaced all the WRV's one at a time, etc etc. We have this setup at a number of other customer sites without any problems, but here it keeps freezing.
The only thing I see that is unusual is one of them has the posted 1.1.16 firmware, but two of them are using the 1.1.17 'unreleased' firmware. At any one point in time I have not had in stock 3x either firmware so I have been unable to match them perfectly - yet, but it is getting to the point I'm going to have to. I'm going to try and downgrade one here off the shelf in the office from 1.1.17 to 1.1.16 from the support website; see if I can't do that... if successful (and not bricked) I'll replace them one at a time so they all run the same firmware.
HOWEVER, does anyone have any input as to what may be going on here?
    Site A:
         WRV210
         Static public IP Address
         15Mbps/1.5Mbps Download/Upload speeds
         172.20.1.0/24
    Site B:
         WRV210
Dynamic IP Address     (switched to static at one time to try it ... didn't make any difference in the long run)
         10Mbps/1.0Mbps Download/Upload speeds
         172.20.2.0/24
    Site C:
         WRV210
         Dymamic IP Address
         10Mbps/1.0Mbps Download/Upload speeds
         172.20.3.0/24
All sites internet speedtests A++. Traffic over the VPN is miniscule (~20kbps/phone call, and never more than 5 at a time)
All sites have wireless disabled, and the ONLY thing plugged into them is a single Avaya VoIP Controller, save SiteA which also has a WinXP Voice Mail server.

Sorry for the delay; yes problem solved.
At the end of the day it was an ISP problem; though they "tested it over and over and assured us it was A+".
The head-end router connection would be fine with low volume traffic, but as soon as the bandwidth was 'pushed' a little, the connection would drop and the cable modem connection would completely reset. That takes a few milliseconds, but that was enough to throw the VPN tunnels off and cause the distruption.
The local ISP finally identified the problem as a flaky port on their head-end and replaced the device. After than all was peachy :)

  • Wired computer on WET200 cannot talk to wireless computer on WRV210

    I have a computer (static IP: 192.168.1.12) wired to a WET200 bridge (firmware: 1.0.13).
    The WET200 (192.168.1.99) is connected wirelessly to a WRV210 router (firmware: 1.1.16).
The router is the internet gateway (192.168.1.2).
A computer connected wirelessly (DHCP) to the router cannot see any computer connected to the WET200 bridge or the bridge itself.
The wired computer on the bridge can ping the wireless DCHP computer, but that computer cannot ping the other.
All computers can connect to the internet.
    Why?

    Never mind.
    Firewall issue.

  • Wrv210 intermittent wifi on mac's

i recently purchased a wrv210 router. it's got the latest (2.0.0.11) firmware. my windows based computers seem to work off the wifi without problem but my two mac's (an imac and a macbook pro) have intermittent wifi connection. they connect for some time then drop the connection and back again. wired connections are solid.
i have tried several wifi settings, various channels, i have even downgraded to 1.??? (linksys) firmware.
most routers i have installed before work almost out of the box. are we dealing with a)hardware issue b) settings issue c) mac issue?
    thanks for anyone's response

I am having this same problem.
However it doesn't matter what operating system. The wireless just drops after a wihile and nothing can connect to it.
Only a reboot will get it working again. It can last for a few days or a few hours. Doesn't seem to be any pattern.

  • Email Server Behind WRV210

We just purchased and setup the WRV210 VPN router, but we are having a major issue with it. We are running a mail server behind the VPN router, but we can no longer connect to it through Outlook. We forwarded all of the appropriate ports but still can't connect. On our previous router we only had to forward the ports and everything worked. We can't telnet the SMTP port or anything. We have disabled the firewall and tried nearly every setting we could fine. We access the webmail service that runs on the website (Port 80) and all of the other websites. We can also VPN into the router and access all of the servers. We are also able to do outbound transactions from within the network (when using local IP's) hence why all features in webmail work. Our problem is when trying connect to POP and SMTP through outlook.  This is a mjor issue as it is now interrupting our day-to-day operations.

Did you open the Ports 25 and 110 ? What Firmware are you running on the router ? Did you try to reset and re-configure all the setting ?

  • Why is my connection lost so often? WRV210 Router

I'm looking for support on why I'm always loosing my internet conection due to my WRV210 Router.
This is being used in a business, and it has the most up to date Firmware, I'm also using a spliter hub which was making things work better, but now it seems about every second day I have to unplug the router only and my connection is back...
    Any ideas?

    Hello Mr. Schlueter,
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the Internet connection.
Let me share with you some steps that could help you with the troubleshooting of this issue.
First we are going to need to check the System performance.
System performance on a device gives the detailed information about the data packets received and sent on each of the LAN ports and on the wireless LAN. This article guides the users on how to check the system performance on WRVS4400N router.
Step 1. Click Status at the top of the general user interface.
Step 2. Click System Performance at the top of the general user interface.
    The Internet/Wireless Table
    • Name— This row indicates each activated network on the device up to its four capable networks. The internet column is for all activity outside of the network.
    • Connection— This row indicates either Connected or Disconnected to indicate if the network is being used.
    • Packets Received— This row indicates the amount of packets successfully received
    • Packets Sent— This row indicates the amount of packets successfully sent.
    • Bytes Received— This row indicates the amount of bytes received successfully.
    • Bytes Sent— This row indicates the amount of bytes sent successfully.
    • Error Packets Received— This row indicates the amount of error packets received.
    • Drop Received Packets— This row indicates the amount of drop packets received.
If you see any kind of error or lack of connectivity I would recommend you get in contact with your ISP.
On the other hand if you would like to get a revision of your equipment I suggest you to contact our service phone line according to your country, and open a case.

  • Need help managing bandwidth with a WRV210

At our office there are two IT guys me and Chris. I use a desktop PC and Chris uses a laptop. We have a T3 line connected to a Linksys WRV210, which is updated to the latest firmware, and a small staff with about 8 desktop computers total. I started noticing that I was having issues downloading files from the internet. It would take sometimes 30 minutes to download a 5mb driver file. Come back after lunch the same file would download in 3 minutes. Also during certain times of the day I could do a bandwidth test and it might show high and then later it would be slower than dial up.
One common event I began to pickup on was the absence of Chris. When he would leave the office (and usually take his laptop with him). The internet was fine. However, almost immediately upon his return the internet would come to a crawl. I have asked him if he is downloading anything thinking maybe that was the issue. Of course he said he was not and that the internet was fine on his computer.
Then one day as I walked by his desk I saw Limewire running on his computer (a file sharing program). I am pretty sure now that this is the source of our bandwidth problem. I want to be able to block or at least allocate how much bandwidth gets used for things such as file sharing programs. The hard part is we are not an enterprise level business and therefore cannot afford appliances that cost thousands of dollars. Add that to the fact that file sharing programs are notorious for being tricky to manage let alone block and you can see my dilemma. Can someone please recommend a way to control or prevent Chris from killing our bandwidth? I want to use our router since he does not have the admin password or a key to the room it is in (my office). His laptop is currently using the wireless and is setup for DHCP. However, I need to know he cannot simply get around any efforts by simply using a static IP address. Keep in mind he is not the average user and is a very skilled tech.

Thank you for your reply. I did some more research on it and found that Limewire supports PnP and will auto switch to using other ports if the main ports (6346-6347) are blocked. In my efforts to stop him I even forwarded 6346-6347 to an IP for our network copier hoping it might interfere with it and so far it has not. I'm not sure that Limewire is not going to be easy to block.  Based on what I've read it may even use port 80 if all other ports are blocked.

  • WRV210 Inside out? How to?

    Hello,
    I have a linksys WRV210.
To get the Quick VPN to work, we add to upgrade firmware to lastest 1.0.39. We can now setup VPN to work properly from outside in.
This issue now is that we can't be VPN client of an outside network.
We tried many things and the only thing that worked is to go back to the old version of firmware.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

    Hello juunda ,
I'm doing this for futur owners of this unit but I already bought something else. I will try to explain differently.
I have clients that uses VPN to connect to my network. They are using the lastest Quick VPN and it finally works with the last firmware upgrade. So, from outside to connect to the inside. It is OK. I am happy.
I also have to connect to Client's network using CISCO VPN client V5.0.07.0410. Since that last firmware upgrade, this does not work. So from inside to connect to the outside, it is not OK. I'am not happy.
We are using XP sp3 but as for our clients, name it, they have it.
We also found instability since that last firmware upgrade. We are loosing internet sometimes. To fix it, we have to reboot the router. This happens twice a week.
From an operationnal point of view, this unit as been costly in regards of downtime and troubleshooting time. Even if I pay 20 times this unit cost, I will still save money buying something better.
I thank you for you help and hopefully, you guys will fix this for actual and futur owners of this unit.

  • WRV210- Can't establish Remote Desktop Connection over IPSec

    Hi there,
I changed the  BEFVP41 with WRV220 and configure the VPN  the same way, succeed to establish IPSec VPN connection with TGB VPN client with no problems but now Remote Desktop Doesn't work. I changed the firmware that didn't help. That didn't help as well, the answer is the same:The client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connection might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new connections. The Remote connection works fine in local and with BEFVP41 (even thou I had different problems with this one) the only change is the WRV210....Did you have this issue?
    Thank you
    Vesna

As a sort of work around, you could configure a dhcp reservation for that pc. Leave the machine as dhcp but know that it will always "recieve" a specific address. I think the problem the WRV210 experiences in this situation, is the mac address table times out and it flushes the pc's mac to ip binding. Therefore, it does not know who to send the request for X ip address to, because it no longer has a mac to port mapping.
However, when the router has the client via DHCP, the dhcp protocol takes care of making sure the mac does not time out in the CAM table. When the lease is somewhat close to expiration, the client renews and everything works fine. You can staticly map up to 20 addresses in the WRV210 (confirmed with configuration in lab).
With this solution, your RDP sessions and port forwardings will continue to work, and your mac will never timeout of the CAM table.

  • WRV210 and Radius

I'm trying to configure a Cisco Small Business Router - WRV210 for WPA2-Enterprise wireless security. I'm currently having trouble getting Radius Authentication to work.
Our Radius Server (10.1.0.1) is in our corporate DataCenter. I've successfully configured an IPSec VPN Tunnel to connect the WRV210 to our VPN hub in the DataCenter. Successfull communication from the WRV210 across the VPN to all subnets behind the VPN has been established and tested. The VPN Works. However I can't see any attempts to communicate with our Radius Server when a client connects via WiFi to the router. The Radius Server is a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 server. Does teh WRV210 require the Radius to be on it's local lan? If that's the case - this is a sucky product like the rest of the Linksys lineup (i've had bad experiences trying to get multiple SSIDs and Radius to work for a Authenticated/Guest access with other Linksys products). Any ideas?

For WRV210, there is a known issue with configuring a Radius Server on a remote subnet over an IPsec tunnel.
A workaround is to configure a special tunnel from WRV210 to the remote subnet with the following settings on WRV210.
    Local Security Group
    Type: IP Address
IP Address: [WAN IP of WRV210]
    Mask: 255.255.255.255

  • WRV210 DHCP Lease failure

    Hello,
I recently purchased a new WRV210 as an upgrade from my old, faithful WRT54G wireless router in order to support multiple ssids. When the WRV210 WAN port is connected to my Speedstream 5100B DSL modem, for whatever reason, I cannot obtain a lease address from the DSL modem. I can put the WRT54G in its place and it functions properly. I can also connect the WRV210 downstream of the WRT54G and it will obtain an address from the 54G. The WRV210 is running V1.16 firmware which appears to be the current release. I've seen similar discussions of people adding static addresses as workarounds, but it would seem to me such a basic wireless router function should be a given, especially since the WRT54G can obtain the address without issue. Any help would be appreciated. I'm about ready to return this thing to the dealer if this issue cannot be resolved.

UPDATE 5:40 PM 2/7/2011 : Just kidding ... still same issue so I am returning it ... back to the linksys garbageG router I got a box full of them !

bad news: the WRV210 is basicly just the linksysrouter with cisco branding on it and !@#$% firmware ..
I called Charter they where no help
I called cisco nice but after 15min of trying to @#$^ing register ... no help .. I told them I was going to downgrade the firmware and the put me on hold then suggested I run latest firmware and change out the cable ... after explaning to them all the details of the issue..

Under Wireless tab, change the wireless channel to 11.Under Advance Wireless Settings..Change the Beacon Interval to 50, Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304.Under the Security tab, disable " Block Anonymous Internet Requests ".Power cycle the WCG and then,check...If that doesn't help, you need to upgrade the firmware of your modem..You can get the firmware from your ISP.

  • New DVR Issues (First Run, Channel Switching, etc.)

I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to find answers through the search with no luck, so sorry if I missed something.
I recently switched to FIOS from RCN cable in New York.  I've gone through trying to setup my DVR and am running into issues and was hoping for some answers.
    1.  I setup two programs to record at 8PM, I was watching another channel at the time and only half paying attention.  Around 8:02 I noticed a message had popped up asking if I would like to switch channels to start recording.  I was expecting it to force it to switch like my old DVR, but in this case it didn't switch and I missed the first two minutes of one of the shows.  I typically leave my DVR on all day and just turn off the TV, this dual show handling will cause issues with that if I forget to turn off the DVR.  Is there a setting I can change that will force the DVR to choose one of the recording channels?
    2.  I setup all my recordings for "First Run" because I only want to see the new episodes.  One show I setup was The Daily Show on comedy central, which is shown weeknights at 11pm and repeated 3-4 times throughout the day.  My scheduled recordings is showing all these as planned recordings even though only the 11pm show is really "new".  Most of the shows I've setup are once a week so they aren't a problem, but this seems like it will quickly fill my DVR.  Any fixes?
    Thanks for the help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I came from RCN about a year ago.  Fios is different in several ways, not all of them desirable.  Here are several ways to get--and fix--unwanted recordings from a series recording setup.
    Some general principles.
Saving changes.  When you originally create a series with options, or if you go back to edit the options for an existing series, You MUST save the Series Options changes.  Pretty much everywhere else in the user interface, when you change an option, the change takes effect immediately--but not in Series Options.  Look at the Series Options window.  Look at the far right side.  There is a vertical "Save" bar, which you must navigate to and click OK on to actually save your changes.  Exiting the Series Options window without having first saved your changes loses all your attempted changes--immediately.
Default Series Options.  This is accessed  from [Menu]--DVR--Settings--Default Series Options.  This will bring up the series options that will automatically be applied to the creation of a NEW series. The options for every previously created series will not be affected by a subsequent modification of the Default Series Options.  You should set these options to the way you would like them to be for the majority of series recordings that you are likely to create.  Be sure to SAVE your changes.  This is what you will get when you select "Create Series Recording" from the Guide.  When creating a new series recording where you think that you may want options different from the default, select "Create Series with Options" instead.  Series Options can always be changed for any individual series set up later--but not for all series at once.
Non-series recordings.  With Fios you have no directly available options for these.  With RCN and most other DVRs, you can change the start and end times for individual episodes, including individual episodes that are also in a series.  With Fios, your workarounds are to create a series with options for a single program, then delete the series later;  change the series options if the program is already in a series, then undo the changes you made to the series options later; or schedule recordings of the preceding and/or following shows as needed.
And now, to the unwanted repeats.
First, make sure your series options for the specific series in question--and not just the series default options--include "First Run Only".  If not, fix that and SAVE.  Then check you results by viewing the current options using the Series Manager app under the DVR menu.
Second, and most annoying, the Guide can have repeat programs on your channel tagged as "New".  It happens.  Set the series option "Air Time" to "Selected Time".  To make this work correctly, you must have set up the original series recording after selecting the program in the Guide at the exact time of a first run showing (11pm, in your case), and not on a repeat entry in the Guide.  Then, even it The Daily Show is tagged as New for repeat showings, these will be ignored.
Third, another channel may air reruns of the program in your series recording, and the first showing of a rerun episode on the other channel may be tagged as "New".  These can be ignored in your series if you set the series option "Channel" to "Selected Channel".  Related to this, if there is both an SD and HD channel broadcasting you series program, you will record them both if the series option "Duplicates" is set to "Yes".  However, when the Channel option is set to "Selected Channel", the Duplicates Option is always effectively "No", regardless of what shows up on the options screen.
As for you missing two minutes,  I have sereral instances in which two programs start recording at the same time.  To the best of my recollection, whenever the warning message has appeared, ignoring it has not caused a loss of recording time.  You might have an older software version.  Newest is v.1.8.  Look at Menu--Settings--System Info.  Or, I might not have noticed the loss of minutes.  I regularly see up to a minute of previous programming at the start of a recording, or a few missing seconds at the beginning or end of a recording.  There are a lot of possibilities for that, but the DVR clock being incorrect is not one of them.  With RCN, the DVR clocks occasionally drifted off by as much as a minute and a half.

    Please suggest.

    Dear Jayanti,
We required prorata basis pension in case of left employees and system is not doing this. This is the issue. As per our PF experts Pension amount should come on prorata basis for left employees in case they left mid of month.System is doing prorata basis last year but from this year it is deducting 541. I am giving two RT cases of different years.
