WRVS4400N Multicast / IPTV / T-Home Entertain / VDSL 50

Hi!
There a two problems with my WRVS4400Nv2 (Firmware 2.0.0.7) - I use a VDSL 50 internet connection with IPTV (T-Home Entertain):
1. Upload speed is very slow: 2048 kbit/s (should be 10000 kbit/s)
I deactivated "IPS", bacause the download speed was around 22000 kbit/s only - now I have 44000 kbit/s. But the upload speed still is very slow.
2. I get no Live TV with my connected T-Home Receiver. ("Multicast" is enabled). But VOD (video on demand = T-Home call it "TV-Archiv") is possible.
Is there someone in Germany, have the same issues or a solution for me?
Regards,
Bernd

As far as I know T-Home separates their VDSL Connections into different Virtual Networks.
There is one VLAN for Data and another one for TV.
In my opinion you will need a Router which is able to handle multiple VLAN’s on the WAN Interface.

  • Using the Zen Sllek photo to play music through a LG home entertainment sys

Hi,I have a creative zen sleek that I would to play through my LG home entertainment system. There is a USB port on the LG system for such a purpose. Has anyone done this or something similar, and can I just use the power/usb cable supplied with my ZEN SLEEK?ThanksGregg

I don't believe that you can play music through the USB port.... You can use the USB for power, and the headphone jack with the correct cable to play music on your stereo.

  • HT4259 Airport Express Ethernet port used for home entertainment?

I use my Airport Express to extend my network with my 2TB TimeCapsule base station. The Airport Express has one ethernet port. Can I buy some other device with say 3 or 4 ethernet ports and plug it into the one ethernet port on the AP Express to connect all my home entertainment devices? What should I buy if this can work?

As long as you are talking about the N version of the Express.. what is often called Gen1.. then any switch will do the job. The express is only 100mbit.
The cost of network switch is $20-40 depending on the number of ports and if it is older 10/100 or gigabit.. IMHO buy 8 port gigabit.. any brand you want,, they are much the same.. metal case ones are nicer than plastic.. but they are cheap consumer item in any computer store.
If you buy what I suggest, it will be useful well into the future.. the slower 5 port is cheaper but the usefulness of it into the future is questionable..

I connected my brand new iPod Classic 160 GB to my brand new Sony home entertainment system through the headphone jack (to the audio line in). The volume is ridiculously low. Can somebody help me out here?

Make sure the volume on the iPod is turned up fully, since this will affect what you hear through the stereo.
Make sure Volume Limit is set to full. (From Main Menu, Settings/Volume Limit)
If you purchased your iPod inside the EU (European Union), then the maximum volume from the headphone jack is lower than elsewhere in the world. If this is the case, buy yourself a 30-pin Dock Connector to 3.5mm jack lead, such as the one linked here...
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Decrescent-Connector-Stereo-Auxiliary-iPhone/dp/B007NIE5 EE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386012456&sr=8-1&keywords=30+pin+to+3.5mm
That connector will take a higher volume out (than the European Union's output) and that will be louder (and hopefully loud enough) through your stereo.

  • Home Entertainment

I'm moving into a 2 bedroom apartment and wanted to get some advice on how to setup my home entertainment. Here's what I want to do:
    1. Be able to grab my iPhone or iPad and select what TV show, movie, or song I want to watch or listen.
    2. I want all room (music) or selected room (music) listening.
The living room will have a cable tv and apple tv connected to my audio receiver and tv. Airport express for just audio streaming.
Bedroom one has a tv with apple tv and cable tv connected. Possibly airport express to just play audio rather than having to deal with Apple TV and the TV to be on to play.
Bedroom two does not have a tv. But I want music to be played.
I have a mac mini server with an external drive that stores my content. iTunes remains open so I can home share and see my itunes library on my iphone/ipad.
I am willing to buy iPod Touches and frame them into the wall to use as remotes. Or have one laying around in that room for myself or guests to use.
My question is, and I'm not sure if its possible being that I don't have this setup yet, is can you select multiple devices to output audio to from the remote or music app in iOS? Or can you only select one at a time?
Is Apple's software right for me? Is there a better alternative to what Apple offers for multi-room control?
Is there an app that can control my TV, Audio receiver, etc rather than finding and using multiple remotes?

Q1. Your best option by far for storage is an external drive connected to the mac running itunes. Any hardware that claims to act as an itunes server and will negate the need for itunes to be open is misleading you. Network drives are likely good for a single stream, but I'd forget NAS for anything more.
Q2. I've never personally shared a library in this way but there are those that have by apparently just sharing a library on a remote location. Im not sure there wouldn't be some inherent implications to such a set up though/
Q3. Yes you can use the iphone to do just that, but the remote app doesn't work with the tv quite as it should at this time, but I expect improvements should come along.
Q4. No idea about insurance matters, but it goes without saying that you should have a back up, whether or not you have a remote back up to protect against fire and theft and not just hardware failure is up to you.
Q5. I doubt there is any difference between the audio output from either mac but I'm not quite sure why the audio from the mini should be mediocre.
Q6. That largely depends on the network and how much traffic is on that network. Having everything working at once may be a strain, but I think your weakest point in this set up would be having the library on a Time Capsule or other NAS device, which I don't think would cope at all.
Q7. Have 7 macs and 5 tv's as well as some other stuff, I run a main ethernet network with 5 wifi networks bridged to it. However I much prefer to have our main library under 1 itunes with other macs being able to share from it as well as maintain there own libraries. When I have something in one of those other libraries that I would like on the main library, I simply put it in the drop box and add it manually. It's not exactly the most automated solution, but it isn't something you would do all that often and no big deal a few times a week.

  • Premium Audio Receivers for the Best Home Entertainment Experience

Don’t underestimate how important sound is for your home entertainment system. Today’s TVs, especially the new 4K Ultra High Definition sets, have bigger screens and such great pictures you might just think that is all you need. But having crystal clear sound with a great balance of those low and high notes will make any movie experience so much better. For the best sound in your home, seriously consider a premium audio receiver. The overall cost of ownership is not much more at all, the sound is noticeably better, and they usually come with many useful features.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You don't need to use the same ID on a device for iCloud and iTunes.
iCloud covers mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, notes, bookmarks, photostream, document syncing etc and for these I recommend you each have your own ID's, this will stop others from having access to and likely more importantly being able to edit or even delete your personal information.
Someone of Age needs to be responsible for an account, so for younger children you will need to create and be responsible for an account yourself but let the child use it.
For iTunes you could use a single account so everyone can share music and apps or you could use separate accounts (there are ways to share content between users, Apple provides homesharing to do this).
When choosing how to proceed with iTunes, it might be worth remembering that someday your children will reach 21 (or whatever age they feel they have become independent) and will likely want their own account, changing accounts later may make it difficult to access previous content.
Photostream now has shared albums, so you can share just what you want with others. Shared photos using shared albums cannot be deleted by others with different accounts, but if you all shared the same account they could be.
Facetime and messages can also use an ID independently of each other, iCloud and iTunes. Separate ID's are recommended for these, joint accounts can be problematic.
iTunes has parental controls for youngsters, however at 7, I suggest you don't reveal the password to him and enter it yourself when he needs to purchase something, otherwise you may receive unexpected bills.

  • Help needed in redoing networking and home entertainment

I realize that this is a site dedicated to all things Apple, but I am hoping I can't get some honest and impartial help on building the best home network and entertainment system.
I currently have an XP Media Center desktop computer in an office of my home where all of the network stuff is at and is connected via ethernet. I also have a Mac G4 MDD 1.0 that I am using in another room for Adobe Creative Suite to do my own promotional items and I have about a 50' Cat 6 cable running back to the router in the office. I also have a Vista laptop that is connected wirelessly but believe it is only a "g" network? I don't really use this a whole lot but take it out to job sites and such so there is information I need to send back and forth to my external drives hooked up via ethernet to my router. I am in the process of getting a new MacBook Pro as well.
I have a PS3 hooked up to my home entertainment center but unsure of how to make everything work the way that I want. Here is what I would like to be able to do. 1) Networking of all computers and external drives, 2) Operate my Mac G4 Wirelessly, 3) Addition of internal bluetooth to G4 so I can get a wireless keyboard and mouse, 4) Ability to play iTunes from external hard drives on home entertainment center, 3) Ability to stream media from internet and hard drives to HDTV in home entertainment center
I am looking to upgrade my router to dual band with either the Airport Extreme or the Netgear WNDR3700. I don't know which to get and have found about the same amount of pros and cons for each on the web. Any suggestions and why?
Do I need an Apple TV or a Netgear WNHDEB111 or other Digital Media Reciever???
What else would you recommend to accomplish my goals and why do you recommend the part and brand that you do.
Thank you in advance for any and all assistance I can get.

Hello, I will gladly assist you with these steps. Have you already set the printer up physically? Are the ink cartridges set in and the printer is ready, just waiting to be downloaded to the computer? If you still have the CD that came with the 8600 printer, all you have to do is place the CD in and click SETUP. This will guide you step by step to install.
Now the tricky part is how you want the 2 PC's connected. You can go USB (hardwire from printer to computer), Wireless (set the printer up on network and PC on network with NO cords attached, or you can go Ethernet (a cord going from the printer to the router).
Let me know how you are able to connect, and I can guide you through those steps.

  • WRT610N v2 (fw b5) Multicast (IPTV) not work

    Hi!
See subj. When I disabling filtering of multicast in security page of official firmware and press save button, IPTV sometime work on wi-fi and lan channels, but, when I trying to change TV channel all work of router holds about for 3-5 minutes. I think, that this option (disable multicast filtering) does not work. Router have a very high price in our country, my previos D-Link DIR655 work fine in all same situations, but its price is lower about half of Cisco device. When you can do a normal version of  firmware for WRT610N v2? My mind about CISCO production was some higher...

что за сервис?!!! и это брэнд???
I'm awaiting for answers from cisco technicians... When you can make a useful firmware for WRT610N v2 router with working multicast option?

  • Using home entertainment ipod dock

We just purchased a home furniture entertainment center (Aspen Brand) with an Ipod dock built in. My wife’s fifth generation (Ipod with video) works in the docking station, but my Nano second generation does not. I have updated the version level to 1.1.3 on the Nano and, according to itunes, this is the latest version. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be?

    Eric,
I noticed an odd behavior trying to use my nano with my friend's docking station the other day. I would get no sound out of the dock unless I reset the nano. In playing around with it, it seemed that plugging in my headphones caused the audio out through the dock connector to stop. lf I simply reset the nano before connecting to the dock (after unplugging the headphones), then the audio out through the dock worked fine.
It might just be something funky with my Sony headphones, but I didn't have my Apple buds with me to try.

  • PowerMac G4 for a media tank to run home entertainment

    Hello everyone.
I am thinking about buying a G4 Powermac off ebay to put it on our TV and possibly sound system as a sort of media centre centred around itunes. I'd get a cheap wireless keyboard and mouse to control it, and maybe do a bit of work with it. I know Apple TV sort of does this but think this could be another way better for me. We have an iMac and MacBook both running snow leopard. Ideally we would want to be able to see the PowerMac on the home network with our present Mac's so it would integrate fully.
Would a PowerMac do this well and what sort of stuff would I want it to have to make it work well.
    Thank you
    Stuart

Hi Stuart, at the highest a G4 will run 10.5.8, which at this point integrates well with 10.6
Which exact G4, CPU speed, & Graphics card?
    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
    * Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
    * 512MB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
    * DVD drive for installation
    * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
You have to call Apple & likely ask for a Product Specialist to get it, if they still have it! Helps to tell them you have an iPad/iPhone & you can't run 10.6.
There are workarounds if the 867MHz is the only hangup...

  • Home entertainment - Audio and video not in s

I call a Philips LCD 37PFL7403D/0 with [size="">HD Natural Motion technology my own. When I turn on HD Natural Motion feature, audio and video are not in sync anymore. The Philips FAQ recommands to set the audio sync delay to 200 milliseconds (200ms).
I use a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio and I have not found any possibility to adjust the audio sync delay.

    Um ... some useful data?
OS/CPU/RAM/GPU/vRAM ... version of PrPro ... and other programs or plugi-ins/3rd-party apps involved ... footage type/codec/wrapper ... such things would be very useful.

  • Using two wrt54gl's for home entertainment network?

    Hey all,
1st time poster here that could use some help!  Right now I have a WRT54GL router connected to my desktop upstairs and then wirelessly to my laptop.
I just a got a new Panasonic TV, Blu Ray Player, and Xbox downstairs -- all of which I want to connect wirelessly.  Can I just get another WRT54GL router and connect all of the latter devices to it via ethernet, and then have the 2nd Linksys wirelessly connect to the 1st one upstairs wirelessly?  In other words, can I establish another wirelss hub downstairs using a 2nd WRT54GL but using the upstairs unit as the signal source?
If not, is there a better solution?  I was thinking an n router wouldn't work without me replacing my WRT54GL with another 'n' router.  But that seems expensive.  Anyways, I'm confused about the best way to hook all of these devices together.... any thoughts/guidance?  Thanks!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the guidance.  It's not really feasible for me to run a cable from my WRT54GL to another router/bridge downstairs.  I've been reading a little about DD-WRT and how that might offer a solution of putting one of the routers in bridge mode, allowing the two units to connect wirelessly.  Still not sure if this is feasible or not.  Can you recommend a good wireless bridge that would work with my router, one that has at least three ethernet ports?  Thanks again for all of your help!

  • Airport Extreme - VDSL25 - IPTV

    Hello,
is there anyone who can say me that IPTV ( T-Home Entertain HD ) with the Airport Extreme
    ( not Wi-Fi) will work?
    VDSL-Modem Speedport 221 -> Airport Extreme WAN -> Airport Extreme Gigabit-Ethernet-LAN -> Media Receiver 301
    Thank you very much!

Es ist leider nicht möglich mit der Airport Extreme IPTV des Anbeters T-Home zu nutzen. Echt schade! Vielleicht sollte Apple dies für die Zukunft ermöglichen.

  • VLAN Tagging for VDSL (German, T-Home)

    Hello,
*does the AirPort Extreme (gigabit edition) support VLAN Tagging?*
I will get VDSL 50/10 Mbits (T-Home Entertain) within the next few days and would like to use the AirPort Extreme (gigabit edition) as a router. VDSL works with VLAN (7) Tagging - NOT PPPoE! Currently the T-Com Speedport W700V (a router) will shipped with the VDSL Modem.
    Thank you for your help.
    cheers
    Chris

Aggregation shouldn't have any adverse effect here. You need to configure VDI to use the correct VLANs on a per Pools basis. In the VDI Manager first navigate to the Desktop Provider -> Networks tab and 'Refresh' the networks. This will scan all VirtualBox hosts in the provider for currently plumbed interfaces, each of which will be listed by their subnet.
After all networks are detected navigate to the Pool -> Settings tab and select 'Host Networking' followed by the required subnet(s). The primary subnet listed here is used for RDP connections.

  • Airport multicast performance problems in u-verse IPTV bridge.

I have a bunch of airport hardware, two n expresses, a draft n extreme, and a 5th generation extreme. I've recently moved to a new house and have AT&T's u-verse multicast IPTV installed. I want to put my TV somewhere without wiring and was going to just do it using a dedicated 802.11n bridge formed from either the two expresses, or the draft n extreme (at the multicast source side) and an express as a receiver.
This seems to work from a functionality perspective, I get the multicast stream into the AT&T set-top box and can watch all of the channels for extended periods of time. The problem that I run into is that I have performance problems that result in the video stuttering, pixelating, and freezing for seconds to minutes at a time. I don't understand why this is the case. The HD stream is less than 9Mbps which should be easily handled by a 5Ghz, n-only link. The source and destination expresses are within 5 feet of each other with clear line-of-sight.
Does anyone have any experience with multicast streaming on aiport hardware? Is there some limitation in the airport implementation where multicast (UDP) packets trigger some sort of slowpath packet processing, so that packets are being dropped? Is there some reporting feature within airport utility that where I can look for diagnostics related to dropped or (extremely) delayed packets? Is there something about AT&T's use of multicast IPTV that is just incompatible with airport hardware?
Note that the u-verse gateway handles all of the IGMP in this situation, and that nothing else is on the network. Well, the 5th gen router is on the network and everything else I own is behind it on a different wifi network. The gateway is smart enough to filter out the multicast traffic so that the router doesn't see it.

Found a solution. Switching from Apple's built-in "create a wireless network" and "join a wireless network+allow ethernet clients" to a WDS network with a main and a remote solves all of the problems. It's not a great option because the WDS network forces me to select a fixed, 2.4Ghz channel, but the IPTV stream is only 8-ish Mbps which seems to be doable, even with all of the wireless networks floating around my house. I guess that it could be a bigger problem during peak wifi usage around here, but we'll cross that bridge when it happens.
