WRVS4400N Replacement Options

Hi, I purchased a WRVS4400N Router from NewEgg it was semi-DOA. It didnt turn on right away and after a few hours of plugging it in and unplugging it I got it to come on. I believe the board is bad however it did start working so I just went with that as I couldn't go without the router. Anyways I no longer have the original packaging so NewEgg wont take it back. Do I have any replacement options with Linksys and can I have them send me out a new one first then I ship them the bad one. I know I can do this with Netgear btu I'm not sure about Linksys. I have a hard enough time getting the basic understanding of what's wrong with it to the foreign tech-support they offer via the phone so I figured I'd come here. Also Linksys if I spell my name out to you and pronounce it please don't mispronounce it and call me Rackey when I told you and spelt it out for you as Ricky.

No one has any ideas?

  • Why doesn't the replace option of JavaScript's window.open method work with FireFox 3 or 4?

The photo html files on the Fanac Fan History project's website are now setup to be displayed properly when JavaScript is disabled and reformatted by a php script when JavaScript is enabled. The reformatting adds some features and positions each photo's caption and credits based on the width of the photo and the browser's page width. This worked well except that when a photo page was accessed the browser's back button wouldn't work properly. This was because I had failed to include the replace option in my windows.open statement. The statement now reads fileWindow = window.open(fileURL, "_self", "", true); and this has cured the problem with IE and the other browsers but it still doesn't work with FireFox.
PS: You need to add "Always" to "This happened".

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.

  • Database Management Copy Data - Replace Option

Can anyone provide info on how this works? we are using 9.2.1
When using database management to copy data, when using the replace option, even if we only pick a few accounts to copy, it is erasing all data in the Target scenario. Does the replace option clear all data by default before copying in the selected data?
we tried to use the Merge option but apparently that doesn't always work for some reason-could be user error. not sure.
    Thanks
    Wags

Hey Wags- this is expected functionality of the Replace method. It clears all custom/account data for the load entity/year/period combo prior to do the load. For example, if there is P&L data in entity A in Jan 2010 and you load $500 to it in a Sales account, all the rest of the P&L data will be cleared and you'll just have $500 in the Sales account.
    Here's stuff from the guide:
Several options are available for loading data into an application. You can merge, replace, or
accumulate the data into the application. You select one of these options for each load process.
    Note:
You cannot load calculated data into an application.
    Merge
Select this option to overwrite the data in the application with the data from the file.
For each unique point of view that exists in the data file and in the application, the value in the
data file overwrites the data in the application.
    Note:
If you have multiple values in the file for the same point of view, the system loads only the value
    for the last entry.
If you select the Accumulate Within File option in conjunction with the Merge option, the system
adds all values for the same point of view in the data file, and overwrites the data in the application
    with the total.
For each unique point of view that is in the data file but does not have a value in the application,
the value from the data file is loaded into the application.
    Replace
For each unique combination of scenario, year, period, entity, and value in the data file, the
system first clears all corresponding values from the application, then loads the value from the
    data file.
    Note:
If you have multiple values in the file for the same unique combination of dimensions, the system
loads only the value for the last entry.
If you select the Accumulate Within File option in conjunction with the Replace option, the
system clears the value from the application, adds all values for the same point of view in the
data file, and loads the total.
You can achieve the same result as using the Replace option with the Accumulate Within File
option by using the Database Management module. You can organize the data in the file into
groups based on Scenario, Year, Entity, Value, and Period.
Use the Clear Data tab in the Database Management module to clear each unique combination
of these dimensions, selecting all accounts including system accounts. Enter the data manually
in a data grid, or load or copy the data into the application using the Merge or Accumulate load
options. When you perform the Clear operation for a period in a subcube, data, cell text, and
line item detail are cleared, but cell attachments are not cleared.
    Note:
You may need to create several small files to load a data file using the Replace mode, especially
if the data is very large or if the file contains ownership data. An error message is displayed if the
file is too large when you try to load it.
    Replace by Security
This option enables you to perform a data load in Replace mode even if you do not have access
to all accounts. When you perform the Clear operation for a period in a subcube, only the cells
to which you have access are cleared. Data, cell text, and line item detail are cleared, but cell
    attachments are not cleared.
    Accumulate
For each unique point of view that exists in the data file and in the application, the value from
the load file is added to the value in the application.
    Note:
Data for system accounts is not accumulated.
    Accumulate Within File
You can use the Accumulate Within File option in conjunction with the Merge and Replace
options. This option accumulates the data in the file first and loads the totals into the application
based on the load option selected.
    File Contains Ownership Data
If the file contains ownership data, you must indicate this by selecting File Contains Ownership
Data. If you do not select this option and the data file contains ownership or shares information,
an error occurs when you load the file.

  • Repair vs replace option when MBR is probably bad?

I could use some assistance getting the Thinkvantage & F11 buttons working  again.  Fn and Thinkvantage buttons work correctly when booted into Windows as does the R&R software, but will not go into the recovery partition when booting the machine.
The blue Thinkvantage button will only show a "Startup Interrupt Menu" with three options: pressing ESC to resume startup normally, F1 to enter the BIOS or F12 to load the boot menu.
I ran the MBR repair floppy  (the CD ISO I found reported errors on download & burn with 2 different programs), but it said that the MBR might not be from Lenovo and did apparently did nothing.  Should I try the replace option instead of repair?  What will that do and will it affect my disk partitions?
I did repartition the C drive into multiple C, D, & E drives, but did not change or move the service partition which I can see in disk management.    This was all working until I booted the machine with an old drive in the SATA ultrabay.  Windows went wacko getting drive letters confused and kind of merging the boot from both drives.  I got that fixed and the preboot environment is all thats left to resolve.
    Thanks a lot

Everyone is different, and sometimes people have sentimental attachments to systems that override what makes economic sense to most people... Most techs I know use a 50% threshold. If repairing is going to cost more than 50% of a new system, it's probably not worth fixing.
USUALLY in these cases systems are 2-3 years old or more, so people can at least take comfort in the fact that they're getting a better overall system. In your case, you don't have that, so the threshold for repair vs replace should maybe be more around 75%. But from some of the liquid damaged systems I've seen, and estimates I've written up... I don't think you'll have that big of an issue making a decision. Bare minimum they'll probably have to replace the logic board. There's also a good chance the display is damaged, and replacing the battery after liquid damage is generally a good idea, just to be safe. There's a good chance the repair costs would exceed the cost of a new system.
And for the record, you did about all you could given the circumstances. The damage was done the moment the liquid came in contact with the circuitry. There's really nothing you can do with liquid spills except clean things up as best you can and hope for the best.

  • ACS 5.5 Hardware Replacement option

I have an existing 2-node, ACS 5.5 cluster (primary plus one secondary) in production running on VMs. I have two new ACS nodes (also on VMs) that I want to install to replace the existing nodes (original VMs weren't built correctly). I have several options to accomplish this but I'm interested in the option to join a secondary to a primary as a hardware replacement.
There is very little documentation that I can find as to what is actually done to the new node during a "hardware replacement" join. Obviously, the ACS database configuration is replicated, but what about IP address, hostname, etc. - node-specific attributes? I'm going to assume that certificates would NOT be copied over as part of the "hardware replacement" option.
Has anyone used this option before or know what attributes from the replaced node are copied to the replacement node?

ACS doesn't replicate certificates. All you can do, export the certificates from the ACS.
That's why a small number of configuration changes can be  performed on a secondary server while in distributed enviornment, including configuration of the server  certificate, and these changes remain local to the server.

  • X230T - Broken Screen - Replacement Options?

Lenovo Thinkpad X230T (3437 CTO) As you can see, I had an accident.  I bought this tablet just a few weeks ago for engineering school, and the screen is totally shattered.   I contacted Lenovo about my 3 year warranty status, and how to go about repairing the machine, however they informed me that my $100 warranty does not cover accidents.  They said it would be $750 to fix it, which isn't possible for me.  I need to repair it myself.  However, this leaves me with a few questions.   The screen is a 12.5 inch multitouch display.  I am not sure how the touch components and display components operate.  Are they combined into a single unit, or is the screen display a seperate component?  I have plugged the tablet into another moniter via DVI cable, and it is fully functional, INCLUDING THE TOUCH SCREEN CAPABILITIES!   After some research I have found this replacement option:  https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/IBM-Lenovo/THINKPAD~X230~TABLET~3437/ However, that model number is only 3437, not 3437-CTO.  I'm not sure if that matters, but I don't believe so.  Even the 220's appear to use the same screen technology.   If I were to buy this screen and replace the broken one, would the touch screen capabilities still function?  Would that component come with the unit I ordered, or would the already functioning touch screen remain seperate and intact?   Any help would be greatly appreciated.  This has been an extremely stressful few weeks,  and this has added a huge punctuation mark to that.   Thanks

  • Ipad battery replacement options

My Ipad 4th gen no longer powers on. Will apple replace it using the 99 dollar battery replacement option or does it have to turn on and fail the battery test before they can do this?

What happens when you plug it into the charger that was supplied with it? How do you know the battery is bad? What are the symptoms the device is relaying to you (besides not powering on) that makes you believe the battery is indeed bad?
You can make a reservation at your local Apple Store's Genius Bar (you'll need your Apple ID) to have it evaluated for free to verify that the battery is indeed bad.
Try a device reset...the device could merely be locked-up:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

How can I get an ip address automatically from my ISP, but set a static DNS ip address for using Open DNS service? This can be done on many other routers including the Linksys home routers. Why doesnt it exist on WRVS4400N?

I was doing some reaserch on this router, notice the routers RV series are the ones that had this feature, however in the WRVS  series this option does not exist, you can get a RV series router and use the WRVS as a access point in order to get your wireless sinal.

  • Does the labview 8.5 project have a search and replace option that appies to all vi's in the project?

In 8.2, the only thing the project has to let you search for a vi is "Find vi's on disk", which is redundant since I can do that in windows explorer.  What I want is a way to search for vi's in my application the way the search and replace function works, except I want it to apply to all vi's in a project instead of just the vi's currently loaded in memory.  Do we have this in 8.5?
    -Devin
    I got 99 problems but 8.6 ain't one.

I'll give an example of what I was trying to do yesterday in 8.2.  I tried to build a source distribution of a large instrument driver.  Since its an instrument driver there is no single top-level vi that contains all vi's - there are different categories of vi's to do different functions on my instrument.  When I'm doing the source distribution I have to do it in several stages since 8.2 doesn't do source distributions right - but thats not really what this post is about.  Anyway, every time I do the distribution I get an error saying CnvrtArrayIntoBitPattern.vi is password protected (and another engineer wrote it and I don't have the password).  So the build fails.  Now I don't know the password, I'll find it out later, but I at least want to know where in the hierarchy this vi is even being called.  I don't know where it is on disk, I don't know what is calling it, it isn't in the project explicitly, it's a dependency.
If I had a top-level vi that loaded everything, I could just do a search and replace on that vi and find exactly where it is being called in seconds.  But since I am in a project and have no idea where to start looking, there is no way I can find this vi.  Ideally, in 8.5 there would be a search and replace menu option that searches all vi's in a project to find any calls to this vi.  I want to look for all instances of a vi in my project.  It sounds like you still can't really do that in 8.5.
What I ended up doing is writing a vi that opens all vi's in a folder hierarchy on disk.  I don't know where this vi is, but all vi's in my project are in the same root folder.  So I run my program to open every single project vi.  Then since I know every single vi is open and loaded simultaneously I used the search and replace function on one of them to find all instances of CnvrtArrayIntoBitPattern.vi.  But that is a painstaking process to create a simple search function.
I think NI is maybe misunderstanding how people are actually using a project.  Not every vi that is being called is going to be explicitly listed in the project.  (Its this same issue that makes source distributions impossible in 8.2 - you can't target dependencies to a support library so every dependency has to be explicitly listed in the project - which is virtually impossible because they are all in different locations and there are hundreds.)  Most people have lots of general purpose vi's they use in many different projects, and they are buried down in code so we aren't even sure where they are all being used.  The new searches you mention assume you already know where the low-level function is and you are looking for their callers.  But sometimes you don't even know where the low level function is.  What if its an NI directory function?  For example, "resample waveform.vi" is an NI function that changed its defaults in 8.2 which meant we had to find every single place we used it and wire "open-interval?" to a constant instead of depending on the default value.  Its in an NI library somewhere and is never listed as a project vi.  So when I needed to find every place through every project that I used this vi, I couldn't do it through  the project manager because there is no search function.  To be practical I add the project-specific vi's to the project, and maybe a couple support directories, but there will always be lots of vi's as dependencies.  But every now and then I'm still going to want to search for one of these vi's.  So in 8.5 there is there still no way to search for vi's that aren't explicitly listed in the project?

  • Hard Drive Replacement Option(s)..?

Will the following hard drive properly replace my WD5000BEVT-60A0RT0 500GB inside of my HP Pavilion g7-1070us :
Western Digital Scorpio Black wd5000bpkt 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136856).
My drive is working fine at this point in time which I am almost certain it's a 5400rpm drive.  I started to think about what I'd do if my hard drive fails.  It's good to be aware of my options in advance of any problem especially since the g7 is my one and only one computer.
My computer is exactly one year old as of the beginning of May 2012; therefore, the existing hard drive should be fine for a long while.  The faster rpm seems a choice replacement for any slight addition to its speed, although I fully realize that current consumption and other operating parameters are factors that have to be more professionally considered by someone more qualified than me about hard drive technology.  The link above includes specs and other information including an interesting comparison's pdf link towards the bottom of the webpage.
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards from Mark KF8RV.

    Hi, Mark:
    You are correct.
You only need to purchase the bare drive, and strip (reuse) all of the existing hardware (screws, caddy, interface connector to the motherboard (if applicable)) from the current HDD.
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook which may come in handy when you want to replace your HDD.
Removal and replacement procedures can be found in chapter 4.

  • State of iWeb replacement options...other ideas?

Like many others, I've been searching for an iWeb replacement.  Here's my next findings:
Sandvox - way too dumbed down (can't even set page widith).
RapidWeaver - not WYSIWYG (editing is separate from layout), can't modify templates easily.
Muse - best candidate, but still in beta (and that subscription model....)
Freeway Pro/Express - WYSIWYG but not free layout (i.e. can't put an image where you want it - it flows with the text) - still requires knowledge of HTML, tables, etc.
Dreamweaver - heavy duty, not remotely free layout, requires HTML knowledge.
Flux - Dreamweaver done right, but still requires knowledge of HTML layout, and doesn't do free layout.
In other words, there's no decent iWeb replacement out there right now that I can find.  Here's what 'decent' means in my mind:
    1) Able to publish to any server
    2) True WYSIWYG (edit and preview together)
    3) Able to do basic site formatting (like page width) without hand-editing CSS (or breaking open app bundles)
    4) Able to do drag/drop placement of images and text without futzing with tables, etc (i.e. free layout).
Maybe in sum, what I'm looking for is an iWeb that generates good code :-).
    Have I missed any options?

I have played with a bunch of different iWeb replacement programs. I have a product brochure that I am transferring to a web page and I have tried it in just about all of the packages you mentioned (just not dreamweaver or Muse). In Sandvox and Rapidweaver, I gave up; I could not get the programs to display what I wanted. Kind of a shame because the interface seems very nice otherwise. I was pretty convinced that Flux was the best I was going to get.  Flux is overall good and gives a lot of flexibility. It is not as difficult to learn to be productive as it might seem given its easy access to the HTML code being generated. As discussed above, putting stuff in div elements and walking them around the site is pretty easy to do. I have tried to get fancy with a few things, but each time, I got twisted to the point that my project became un-workable. I can accept that this is because I am not a code guy, but then again, I am also looking for something that helps me avoid code as much as possible. I was disappointed that after I got my site organized in Flux the way I wanted it, I could not get it to display correctly in either Firefox or Safari. Not sure what I did wrong, but was not about to start over. I am sure I can get there with Flux, but I think they still have some work to do before the program is really a viable option for non-developer / weekend designer types like me.
I was very surprised how much I like Freeway. I think this is the way to go. I have been playing with the pro version and I can drag photos directly in and place them anywhere without any trouble. I can mask (or crop) easily with drag and drop simplicity too. It is not too bad getting into the tables when I need to to modify page sizes or HTML text details. Right now, I am pretty enamored by Freeway as a replacement. I think it is very well done and I was able to generate my brochure  very quickly without ever using the program before. I should give credit to Flux for some of that. After the time I put in with it, I picked up a little bit about styles and site organization that helped me understand better what I was doing in Freeway.
As a benchmark, it took me about 3 hrs to create my page in Flux (but again, it did not publish well in the two browsers) and about 45 min in Freeway from a cold start (and the page published fine). Sandvox and Rapidweaver Did Not Finish because I could not get the layout I wanted. I will try Muse as well as the standard version of Freeway to see how those compare.
For reference, I created my page in iWeb in 20 min. I have no idea what the code looked like, but it published as expected and seemed fine for my purposes. I too will miss that program.

  • Is there any "Search and Replace" option in Crystal Reports?

Is there any option to search and replace in Crystal Reports. Since i am using a name in many of the formulas in crystal reports. I need to replace with the desired name on the go.
Could anyone help me on this....

Search & Replace across formulas is not available in CR XI but is available in CR 2008.  Here is an excerpt from the CR 2008 Users Guide:
    Searching for formula text
You can use the Find dialog box to carry out a number of different activities:
u2022 Search for text or characters in the Field, Function, or Operator trees.
u2022 Search for text or characters that you want to mark or replace in the
formula, Custom Function, or SQL Expression that you have open.
u2022 Search for text or characters across all SQL Expressions in a report.
u2022 Search for text or characters across all formulas and Custom Functions
    in a report.
When you search for text across all formulas, the results appear in a pane
at the bottom of the Formula Workshop. (You can dock the results pane in
other locations). When you click an item in the results pane, Crystal Reports
opens the appropriate formula and highlights the matching text.
Tip: You can open the Formula Workshop to search across all formulas
from the Field Explorer and from the body of a report. To do this, select a
formula field, right-click it, and choose the "Find in Formulas" option.
